Landed at YVR, went to WJ to find out about luggage. Told me I have to get a hold of Qantas. They had nothing to do with it. Went to Qantas was sent to a place that was closed. Two days later got a call from WJ asking why I didn't pick up my luggage. I told him the story. He kept saying why didn't I go to them. Because I was told it was Qantases fault. Got luggage 2 days later, damaged. I'm thinking maybe the case fell off the conveyor belt while loading in Melbourne ."

I almost missed my flight from SJ to LA in the early morning 3) at the SJ airport, I was not aware that the flight from SJ to LA was operated by Delta not American airline. However, the Westjet customer services 1-888 number listed in your Kayak confirmation was not a correct number. I even tried to look up another customer services number of Westjet by searching the Westjet website, the number I found was not in service neither. I almost missed my flight from SJ to LA 4) At the LA airport I was told that I was not able to board the flight because I did not have the Canadian ETA. they said they would pull my checked luggages and flight them with my re-scheduled flight and will be shipped to the final destination Vancouver, Canada. when I arrived Vancouver, both suitcases were not arrived with my flight. One arrived with my original flight and the second were missing. The agent could not even tell me where the suitcase was. Moreover, the second did not arrive the time I was told it should arrive. My second suitcase was not allocated even before I left Vancouver to Europe one day after my travel. 5) No one responded to the luggage services number provided in the document. I could only successfully login to the link for the checking the status after I returned home in Brussels. 6) I was told that the second suitcase will be delivered to my home in Europe by another company. Currently I'm still waiting for my second suitcase."

This inconsistency between airline policies is very annoying - you never know if you can take food on-board, if you should take food along or how much you should expect to be ripped off at the terminal/on-flight. The entertainment unit stalled the entire time. Oh, and boarding... it's very odd to check-in at the domestic terminal at LAX for an international flight and I don't recall seeing any message in my email/SMS regarding this. So taxi dropped me off at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX and then I had to run over 4 terminals to get the Air Canada. A precaution about this would be nice."
Pros: "Flew economy from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Aircraft looked like a newer Airbus A320 with the new Air Canada branding (black lettering against white fuselage). Air Canada check in process has passengers use self service kiosks first and then take the tags and luggage to the counter. The employees at check in were all very efficient and made sure the line didn't get too long. The flight left on time. Every seat had personal entertainment system, and mine worked great. The flight attendants themselves were very professional."

Cons: "Where to start, I have taken Air Canada 1 time before to Regina and you lost my luggage, luckily it was on the flight home. This time check in was very disorganized and unprofessional (I got scolded when my luggage bumped the post that forms the line that was set up after half the passengers were there making the last to show up first in line.) The flight was delayed and hour for a broken air mask upon departure . The monitor screens were hard to see and harder to hear. Upon arrival we sat for 30 minutes because they couldn't shut the engines down. Customs was a breeze but the walk from terminal to customize to the next terminal had me winded, luckily my connecting Air Canada flight was late also . And this was the better part of my experience. My flight to Athens was miserable ( lots of screaming children spread out through the plane). And when I thought it was over my luggage was separated and lost for 3 days. I should send you the underwear as a reminder of my experience"

Upon boarding, there was NO room for my single carry-on; a backpack with a macbook and camera gear in it. The flight attendant tried to help finding a place but had to resort to offering to check the bag. With over $4,000 of gear inside I politely declined the crew handling it... Looks like its going under the seat in front of me. Normally on any flight, I can fall fast asleep after take off, and wake up 20 minutes before landing. These seats were so god-awful that 15 minutes in my back was cramping, and 20 minutes later my bum was throbbing with discomfort. This went on for literally the entire flight, even with breaks to stand up in the cramped airplane. I had to share a park-bench style armrest with two people, and to make matters worse, the seats didn't recline. The airplane was hot, airflow poor, and overall comfort at an all-time low. These may seem like minuscule complaints, but for me; they're important. I was happy that I was finally flying with a major airline, for a decent price, thinking that I'd be comfortable all the way home. Not the case apparently for United Airlines. I quit flying frontier awhile back for business, and have no added United to the list. I think I'll stick with southwest and virgin from now on."

The actual flight for this review is a different flight that I paid to get my friend on so could get home. He pretty much had an equally bad experience. The following is my review from my flight from San Diego to Lihue, through San Fransisco. I paid for both flights but wasn't offered the opportunity to submit a review for the flight I was on so I'm taking this opportunity now to do so. I was on a flight home after losing one of my best friends. The flight attendant was extremely rude, making me feel like she was going out of her way to get me a drink of water and never returned to offer food after they missed me when they went down the isle. The gentleman attending to the first class passengers was beyond rude to anyone attempting to use the lavatory near the first class section as if people were supposed to know that it was only available to first class passengers. I was never offered food and myself and other passengers repeatedly ignored by our flight attendant. The entire flight was freezing cold and the air blowing so loud that I couldn't hear any volume on the movie player I was watching, making that nearly impossible as well. I landed at my destination feeling cold and hungry with a pretty bad taste in my mouth towards United Airlines. I don't normally fly United but due to the untimely hospitalization of one of my best friends and having to fly on such short notice, it was all that was available. I used to be a united mileage member but my points expired and became useless to me, living in Hawaii with very few flights in and out of the state several years ago. They seem to have added flights since then but other airlines have won my loyalty since then. I was hoping for a better experience as I remember having better experiences flying United. After this recent experience, I'm not sure that I will be flying United again, especially given the price of fares and what you get for what you pay. You'd think the staff would be more welcoming knowing that people pay so much to fly and then pay for everything else once on the plane. (A comfortable seat, food, drink, etc)."

Cons: "Our flight was schedule to depart at 9:17am and didn't depart until 4pm. Delay after delay. I missed a business meeting with the city and now have to spend more money on a hotel room and rental car as I have to extend my stay as the city is not open for a meeting until Monday. This is absolutely ridiculous"

Cons: "When we booked the flight it had a 2 hr layover, which we thought would be enough to transfer plans. When we arrived we had to pick up our bags to go through customs. United's method of helping customers recheck their bags is very poor. We sat an waited until the only 2 staff members working the recheck helped another customer rebook a flight they missed instead of checking bags of customers needing to catch a flight. Eventually we ended up having to run through the airport with all our bags from the international airport to the domestic airport and checking our bags in that airport because the lady's at the recheck desk didn't seem to know how to handle checking the bags in. Once we made it to the other airport and checked our bags there we had 5 minutes before boarding was going to close to make it through security and run to the terminal. Luckily, once we made it to the domestic airport the staff there was very helpful getting us on our plane. Although we did have to run to make it."
