No agent greets us at the gate to arrange for hotel stay. We we’re directed all over the place and no one knows anything about such arrangement. Finally we’re put on a plane to our destination. I was not informed of the change and only realized that when was brought to the gate and put on a plane. It should have better organized and needs agent at gate to answer question."

Almost all the Asian airlines I've flown on, the flight attendants were always real nice and helpful, but That wasn't the case with Asiana airlines this time around. On our flight from LAX to Incheon, and from Incheon to Cebu, the flight attendants all seemed miserable and unhappy, not smiling at all. I've flown Asiana few times before and had always been happy, but this time, it was definitely different, all because of the seemingly unhappy flight attendants. On our 12 hour flight from LAX to Incheon, the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper and in 12 hours, they didn't once come around with trash bag collecting trash. Sure, they collected the plastic cups drinks were put in, but that was it. How do you not come around collecting trash AFTER A 12 HOUR FLIGHT? Also, just the little thought of maybe providing a hot towel after a 12 hour flight would have been nice. In the future, if given almost the same price point for a ticket, I would choose another airline over Asiana Air."

I thought that this was truly unacceptable to not have the option to charge a device for a 15 hour flight. There was an in-flight entertainment system, however my sound did not work so I could not listen to anything and there was not options for english subtitles. There were also no current movies or shows available. I was very disappointed in the options for entertainment on such a long flight. I am only 5'4 and I found my knees hitting the seat in front of me when they were reclined which was a majority of the fight. It was very uncomfortable. Food and drink service was far and few between, I hate bothering them for water but there was enough available or disseminated throughout the flight. and Not sure if it was the food, the turbulence or a combination of both, but many people were nauseous and vomiting on the plane. There were not bags readily available for those people to vomit in and the back of the plane and lavatories ended up being out of service due to uncleanliness."

This could have been solved by leaving one lane free for people sitting upstairs, or 'preferred' fliers. Instead everyone was pushed back and had to wait. I've never seen an aeroplane boarded so badly and we ended up being some of the last people on the plane. Badly organised and just plain awful."

Pros: "The Chinese people were wonderful! But I was required to pass thru security checks 3 times arriving. 3 times transiting and 3 times leaving. At customs, transit and departure. No common sense to their process only"letter of the law". For example I was taking beef jerky to my friends in Thailand but the Chinese security has a meat sniffing dog and they confiscated it as well as the girl in front of me More than $100 worth of jerky. They should have given it back at departure gate. I had to buy more in their duty free shop. Also they cancelled my flight without advising me but did get me on Thai airways later that day. My flight had a lot of empty seats, and I noticed they staggered the seating so that there was nobody in front of me or behind me. Flight crew was genuinely nice and helpful even though we didn't speak the same language. The little cup holder was actually pretty cool. There even seemed to be ample leg room compared to other Chinese international flights I've been on. I've flown previously with china southern and China eastern, so that is my basis for comparison."

This added quite a bit of confusion for me, seemingly unnecessarily. Also, I'm a bit disappointed in their free hotel room deal for long layovers. When I had a long layover previously with either china southern or china easter (can't remember which one), I got my own free hotel room, a free meal, and a free ride to and from the hotel. That was a real perk for my 12 hour layover. The deal with xiaman is you get a free hotel room, but you have to share it with a stranger of the same gender, and you have to pay for taxi to and from the hotel. Although you do supposedly get a free meal, I chose not to take them up on the hotel offer. Instead I took them up on their transfers lounge. This is a dark, quiet room full of dingy, dirty padded chairs and people sprawled out and snoring. I would have stayed more than 15 minutes if there were more phone charging plugs, but instead I went and ate mcdonalds and found a plug in at the kfc. Aside from all that, I would suggest getting some better Hollywood movies to choose from, as xiamen's competition has them beat there as well, in my opinion."

I run the same itinerary in reverse on the way home in a week."

I found the movie selection to be poor with few non-violent movies available. Will not fly this route again."

Cons: "In the fine print is the fact that the flight includes a stop in Shenzen. On the outbound flight this was a nightmare experience with Chinese immigration. Exhausted from a 14 hour flight, passengers had their passports taken away; were put through a bizarre 45 minute finger printing process using machines that did not work; and then left to wait for an hour or more with no information. The continuation flight was in another part of the airport - a very long walk; and it turned out not to be at the departing gate that was displayed on the monitors. We arrived at the indicated (wrong) gate with no guidance. Very nearly missed the continuation flight. Once in Xiamen, our arrival was late enough that the second floor of the airport was closed. There were no ATMs on the first floor; no way to get the Chinese cash needed to take a taxi to the airport. Fortunately a kind citizen agreed to exchange some cash, using mental calculations and sign language about the exchange rate."

While I have a limited ability in Mandarin (think 5yo vocab), the announcements in Engrish was almost as bad as some of the translations in many Chinese products. I pity the people who can't understand ANY Chinese: they could not possibly get most of the announcements. They should really get at least 1 FA that can speak and understand English. The signage in Xiamen (I was transiting from LAX to TPE) was amazingly poor and confusing. You basically stumble from 1 floor to another based on the signage. The airport was actually very large for what appears to be a medium size city."

Pros: "I love the fact that the program that launches the flight were pretty new, but the fact is; everything run like a well oiled machine. From customer service to departure everything went smoothly. Since the flight was brand new not a lot of people knew about they're great deal. I bought a one way ticket to xiamen because I will be working a school teacher. I didn't realized til later on that it's possible for someone with a z visa to receive an extra 23kg check in baggage for free. I contacted the customer service who replied within a day and everything was fixed. Now, I've been travelling a good amount to China and US, so far the food that are good is xiamen airlines. It's healthy, not greasy, and my stomach didn't hurt."
Cons: "For now ? Nothing. It's my first time riding this airline and I would definitely pick this than China southern or eastern airlines. I have been disappointed with them too many times.... food suck, cramped leg space, and an overabundance of delayed and cancelled flights. Need improvement: it would be nice if the flight attendant don't assume every Asian is Chinese. Over and over the flight attendants would suggest food options, snacks, and drinks in chinese. I understand this won't be the first nor would it be the last that someone would mistaken me as a native Chinese speaker. Overall, the whole experience was amazing!"

The crew gave full cups of drinks to the Chinese passengers, and half full cups to the people of other races. I was sitting in a row of 4 seats, and the person next to me couldn't get anything, so they asked me to get water for them. I asked for water for me, and tried to ask for water for the person next to me, but the crew member just ignored me. I asked her 6 times, and she just wouldn't pay attention to me, so the guy next to me didn't get water."

Cons: "We paid $37 to check in 1 Baggage and the flight from SFO to Beijing had delivered the baggage in baggage claim area. We had to take Chinese Visa to get to the baggage, even-though it is a transit. We missed the next connecting flight to Shenzhen as it ate up all our time. Now have to travel in the mercy of the airlines for next flight. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LIST THAT "VISA NEEDED IF CHECKING IN BAGGAGE""

Cons: "Air China practices very democratic way (in a bad eay) of boarding the plane, without distinguishing the 1st class, busineas class, and Star Alliance members from the rest of the passengers. The food is abit overly simple, in spite of the short flight - a sendwich wrapped in an alu-foil... And it was crazy cold in the cabin."

Pros: "My trip started off with airplane problems from the beginning. From my flight being delayed multiple times by air china to the overly packed united to the confusion of the non updated confirmation numbers or the e-ticket number. Even on the day I left upon arriving to the airport my confirmation number they had just given me after all the prior problems still didn't work. Air china had mediocre food with okay entertainment except my headset jack on the TV was broke and I couldn't watch anything. On the last air china flight from Bejing to Bangkok. I couldn't even charge my phone, watch any entertainment and basically was just stuck with no WiFi. Justfly wouldn't compensate for the changes on their end and said I myself would have to ask the airlines for compensation which the.the airlines directed me no where for compensation or even to upgrade my seat. Now I'm finally in Thailand but I'm scared of my return."

Even with a 2 hour layover we almost missed our connecting flight to Bangkok."

When I asked one crew for help to clean up the floor she just gave me a disgust face and told me I should make the baby throw in the trash bag... I was super shocked and disappointed. I think air china really need to improve their employee training."

Of course the flight to China was a much larger airplane a Boeing 747, where flight to Sfo was a 737-800 and a smaller Air bus. All my flights made it to destination on time. Or close to it. You should plan on at least 1&1/2 hours between transfers. SFO was under staffed at security long lines, and empty desks. Beijing & Soul airports had smaller lines. The Visa free transit at Beijing worked well."

Cons: "The air China flight attendants are some of the rudest people I have encountered. They were extremely unhelpful and one went so far as to sigh and roll her eyes at me. Our flight was also delayed for four hours with no explanation, while we all sat on the plane waiting. Finally they made us all get off of the plane issued us new tickets and then we got back on. The whole process was rediculous. The seat space was smaller than usual and the plane was very dirty. It was also the worst airplane food I have ever tasted. I would definitely recommend not flying air China. K"

Cons: "I had to pay to catch my connection with no way to document it, as it was an extreme rush & cash was the only way to get it done on the run. So I doubt I'll see any reimbursement. Airlines, Air China included, should try to provide better accommodations for delayed connecting passengers & not just leave it to airport ground crew or worse, passengers own resources. The only assistance provided was a couple crew directing with flight number signs from the arriving gate. But nothing further than that."

Cons: "they cancelled my flight connecting in beijing to shanghai. no reason this just happens all the time in china. they lost my luggage for hours. they didn't have another flight until the next day. and i was traveling alone meeting my husband in shanghai. so i was just stuck in beijing. they were incredibly unhelpful and unconcerned that i was alone with no luggage, without a phone that worked since i was getting a chinese sim from card from my husband in shanghai, no hotel, transportation etc."
