Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Attendants were nice and cordial and made the flight seem like a breeze."
Cons: "Wish the plane was little bigger and not overbooked. It’s not good with people who have claustrophobia and bad anxiety."
Cons: "American airlines oversold and that caused us to start late. The seats are too small for 2 adults to sit next to each other. 1/2 the people wore masks. when we arrived we sat on the taxiway for an hour"
Cons: "No food or beverage service while in COVID mood. Pilates and flight crews were inconsistent with using masks. However overhead announcements by AA constantly stated that face mask were required and that the could prevent you from traveling with AA."
Pros: "The crew was very polite and helpful as the flight attendant was still new."
Cons: "It was FREEZING on the plane."
Pros: "The crew was great"
Cons: "The chairs are hard and no lumbar support"
Pros: "Very friendly crew, my flights were on time, good selection of movies. That's about it."
Cons: "Their Basic fare should be renamed "Bare-sic" – you have to pay for almost anything. Food choices can be better. I guess they can pay the Munich airport to get better treatment and not having to bus their passengers around."
Cons: "Hard to say...it seemed good. I would have liked complementary baggage check"
Cons: "Honoring their flight schedules....I had two cancellations back to back trying to get to Montgomery, AL. I finally canceled my American flight and flew with Delta. Delta delivered flawlessly."
Pros: "Great stews"
Cons: "Food, 1st class had granola bars. Live tv was advertised, but not available"
Pros: "WiFi entertainment system."
Cons: "Hard seats, no arm padding. No power to recharge phone and iPad."
Pros: "Crew was really great!"
Cons: "My bag never left Chicago so I had to wait a day to get that"
Cons: "We were told to board quickly so we could leave on time, boarded and sat for more than a half hour. The landing at Monterey was dreadful, hit hard first touchdown and then two more bounces."
Pros: "Nothing much but the crew made up for some of it."
Cons: "ORD and the roads approaching nothing short of a nightmare. Chicago should be embarrassed by the whole experience at ORD."
Pros: "Flt on time & comfortable. Crew outstanding!!"
Pros: "Eventually, the actual flight was fine."
Cons: "Initially delayed by 3hours (mechanical) which was American Eagle couldn’t get their “bucket of bolts” to Springfield, MO on time so we missed our flight out of Charlotte to Barcelona. Then we were rerouted through Chicago, but lost our first class seats and were bumped back to coach. This was after I had bought first class tickets for the entire trip only to be told 3 months before leaving that AA decided to switch planes on our domestic flight so there’s were no first class seats. THEN, in Chicago we tried to get first class seats on British Airways which would have been fine but After being sent to another terminal (after the bus to that terminal had stopped running) we were turned back because British Airways wouldn’t accept the boarding pass that AA had issued us. Now, having to go back to the first terminal to DISCUSS all this, we miss that flight and wind up stuck in Chicago for another 24 hours. Then, that flight was delayed by 3 hours, so we lost a day and a half of our vacation."
Pros: "Relatively quick embarkation process despite having to walk outside. Got us safely to destination."
Cons: "Those old turbo props suck big time. Not only everything looks dated but the engine drone and especially the vibration are unbearable. I have flown turbo-prop in Europe and they didn’t seem so noisy and transmitting so much vibration."
Pros: "It’s a jet"
Cons: "Boarding terrible at DCA, seats cramped"
Pros: "I got there safely."
Cons: "I will never fly American Airlines again. From the moment I checked in with the ticket agent to getting off the plane it was a disaster. The ticket agent was rude, hostile, and dismissive. Employees walked through the line at security forcing everyone to consolidate their belongings to one bag. I had a large wallet in my hand and was told I had to step out of line to put it in my backpack. They only allow you one bag to carry on without paying extra. At the time of boarding they announced that the overhead storage was full so even those that paid extra were still forced to check their bags. The plane was dirty, the service was slow, overall just gross. They don’t have WiFi or in flight entertainment so I paid the $20 to purchase the WiFi. It was worthless. I couldn’t stream anything, even music kept stopping to buffer. I understand it will be slower then on ground WiFi, but it was impossible to watch anything and a complete waste of money."
Pros: "Good flight. Arrived early. Great crew. A321 is a nice aircraft. Good legroom."
Pros: "my seat assignment"
Cons: "wish the crews were more pleasant. some were pretty rude to some passengers"
Pros: "Great staff. Arrived very early. Smooth flight ."
Cons: "There were no available snacks and drinks between meals in a long international flight. In other airlines, they have continous supplies of snacks and drinks at the food area for passengers to enjoy at their leisure."
Pros: "Smooth and easy experience, newer plane (and clean!), exit row is great with lots of leg room."
Cons: "Seats are small"
Cons: "Seat 20f It was very uncomfortable and freezing My legs were sore after the journey. Besides until 30 seconds before actual boarding time the members didn't inform about the delay. Everybody had formed lines and we see people getting out only then."
Pros: "Quiet, easy to sleep on"
Cons: "Running late, but only by 30 mins. Better than it could have been!"
Pros: "I didn't make the flight due to a delay/cancellation."
Cons: "I missed this flight."
Cons: "30 minutes late taking off. Therefore arrived late."
Cons: "Poor communication Delays -3 hrs"
Cons: "Baggage was damaged, which required a claim to be submitted. Company policy requires me to take the damaged baggage home, empty it, and return it to the airport. The airport is 1-1/2 hours from my house. They inconvenience me by handling my baggage like an ape and then continue to inconvenience me by requiring me to go way out of my way to get it repaired. American Airlines apparently does not understand what customer service means."
Pros: "It was nice that I had a seat empty next to me, allowing for extra room. Flight was a little early in landing in Dallas, allowing for extra time for a short layover to find my terminal and gate for my next flight."
Cons: "All was good."
Pros: "Original depart for London was 3:15, but when I called from Praque and my friend called from NY we were both told that depart from London is 2:15 and arrival is at 5 instead at 6. It was a mess!"
Cons: "Original depart from London was at 3:15 and arrival in NY was at 6pm. But when my friend called from NY about the arrival he was told that the plane will arrive at 5. I was told the same when I called from Praque. I have to stress that we mentioned the right flight #. When I came to the gate (exhausted) we departed after 3pm as originally scheduled. It was a mess! Otherwise the service was good."
Pros: "When a flight takes me safely from point A to point B I am very well satisfied. The crew was very nice and helpful, the food was very plentiful and was tasty and there was a lot of entertainment to choose from. The seats were quite comfortable as well."
Cons: "I have no complaints."
Pros: "Nice crew,very efficient."
Cons: "Flight attendants barely made eye contact and certainly didn't make us feel welcome in business class."
Pros: "I loved the Qantas plane that took us from LAX to Sudney. It was so quiet and smooth, and each seat in coach had very slight improvements , such as a head rest that moved, and cushions that atually felt comfortable. I think it was a new Dreamliner or something similar. AA should use these."
Cons: "I paid $25 fo my luggage. I don't like it next time I will choose another company."
Pros: "Flight was on time with no problems. Had to check my carry on due to lack of space but my bag arrived quickly at my destination so this was not a big deal."
Cons: "Boarding is always a free for all. Even though passengers are called in groups no one listens and the boarding process never seems very efficient."
Pros: "Crew was friendly, pilot kept us informed."
Cons: "We were delayed upon landing but I realize the circumstances were beyond the crews control so no point fretting. Still disappointing nonetheless."
Pros: "Flight attendant was high spirited, funny, and very attentive!"
Cons: "Delayed due to crew member not arriving. They boarded half the plane before realizing and then made those individuals de-plane and re-board again."
Pros: "We had a safe flight."
Cons: "If we wanted to fly on an old American Airlines plane, we wouldn't have purchased a British Airways ticket. Deceiving and unfair."
Pros: "Everyone was amazing. Helpful. Kind professional"
Pros: "Full flight, so American staff handled the boarding well. Was warned there were no meals on board for economy, so bought meals onboard ."
Cons: "Lack of onboard entertainment for a 5 hour flight. Didn't realize until the end the idea is that you have to pay to get the internet for entertainment now."
Pros: "We arrived safely"
Cons: "The delays the staff was not friendly or helpful"
Pros: "Everyone was gracious and very helpful. Wheel chairs waiting at each stop. Special ramp installed at CHO, VERY HELPFUL."
Pros: "Flight was delayed due to a crew member needing to be substituted, but the crew handled it very well and were nice to us"
