Cons: "We were left on the plane for over 6 hours without taking off before a 13 hour flight. The captain only came on the intercom once. All he said at that time was "sorry for the delay,";no explanation. The flight attendance kept saying 20 mins. The captain locked the crew door so the crew also had no idea what was going on. The 6+hour delay wasn't the problem. Things happen. The problem was the non existing communication. I read the the regulations for delays like that on their website and it stated that after 4 hours they have to give us the option to get off the plane. That didn't happen until 30 mins before we took off. It also stated that the captain needs to keep us updated every 30 mins. That again, didn't happen. People were hysterical, for obvious reasons. Ithe was the worst flight I have ever taken."

Cons: "China southern management completely botched the handling of this flight. Mechanical issue turned into a 6+ hour delay. Passengers given no updates. Held on plane for 4 of those hours without updates. Toilets were not flushing and reeked the interior cabin. Passengers wanted to leave and get hotel accommodations but were not given such options and were trapped on plane. Passengers began confronting and arguing with flight stewards. Still no updates from captain during whole ordeal. People were very agitated and trust was lost as flight attendants seemingly forced passengers back into their seats abruptly. Some left plane due to feeling unsafe to fly."

Again, zero benefits for being SkyTeam Elite Plus even though thhe flight was a China Southrn codeshare with Virginia America."

Cons: "CS serves primarily a Chinese speaking clientele, so they do not need to attract staff with high levels of English. You are flying on a Chinese carrier, not one with a global feel. Service is more than adequate with respect to call button etc. But meal service is "clipped" (for lack of a better term). No extras, warm beer, wine but no liquor. No snacks.They can do better, if they want to compete with the gulf airlines. Baggage took about 45 minutes to arrive at LAX. Very glitchy entertainment system"

Cons: "We got inside to the checkin desk finally after waiting in horrible traffic and lines just to get into the airport. The checkin staff had already left the desk with 1 hr and 10 minutes before the flight. The guy at the information desk came to verify. After making a scene the police/security finally agreed to get someone on the radio. They refused to come back to get us and we were not allowed to go through security. We were told to go to an office in another building but the door was locked, no one home. We continue to fight but couldn't get any progress, missed our flight and ended up spending 10 hours in that airport and then having to wait an extra 10 in China for our missed connection. We went to the office. They refused to help us. Made us pay cash, couldn't take credit card, had to take out 3 different withdrawls, couldn't rebook us, had to call a downtown office. And basically said we were liars and we weren't there on time. Even though they only had the 2 employees working the entire airport for this airline. Still no power in the seats, no wifi, ended up missing an entire day plus the travel day that I was meant to be working. Travel insurance wouldn't cover because it wasn't a "strike" I don't know what else you call it when someone decides not to do their job."

Pros: "The business class cabin felt very much like business class on a regular U.S. carrier (although maybe lacking slightly in design). The lay flat seat was comfortable and the bedding was fine. The flight attendants tried hard and were very nice."
Cons: "The service was always just a bit off like they had no organization. My partner was served a little nut plate, no such thing for me. They got my entree wrong for dinner and entirely skipped me for dinner on the return flight (of course they were very nice and apologetic when I mentioned it). They served one of us cheese but passed the other one by. Not a big deal, but everything just seemed a bit disorganized. The mobile device thing was odd--- they kept telling me to turn off my kindle at odd times and no cell phone can be used even in airplane mode. The food was mixed--- some things were ok but other things were off, not due to taste but things like luke warm soup and stale bread."

Cons: "On Sep 14th, I paid on your websites with the confirmation of three airline tickets from Chengdu China to Los Angeles. All the information I provide for each passengers are correct. However, due to the fact that you missed up three of the passengers information, they couldn't check in yesterday. The whole fight to LA was missed. As a result, we had to pay very high price to buy new tickets for the next available fight in order to complete the trip. I'v made four phone calls with your agent, with all records made. 1) The 1st agent confirmed that the information I provided were all correct for each passengers. So she believed there was nothing wrong and did nothing to help. 2) The 2nd agent realized the information were mixed up. But it was too late to let them check in. 3) The 3rd agent confirmed that the issue were caused by your system. He said only the supervisor could deal with this matter. He gave me a number which is not valid. 4) Finally, the 4th agent said you would contact me. No response by now. Still waiting for the response. Very disappointed after all."
