Flight was on time. Plane was very clean. Crew were courteous. Food was good. Spirits selection was good. China Eastern lounge in Shanghai is excellent, with a nicely run kitchen that feeds lots of people. Lounge has a very clean shower facility. Overall, excellent value for money.

Making my way to the bathroom during boarding I was instructed to return to my seat simultaneously as the flight attendant nearly pushed me to the ground in haste.

I expect a full fligjtvto prioritize the paying customers who are already present, most of whom had connections to make. When I requested help rebooking my connecting flight in LAX, they gave me (rudely) a QR code and a “certificate” (piece of paper) that said the flight was delayed. The QR code was to check for updates for the delayed flight (useless) and the “certificate was not a help at all for rebooking my domestic connection on the other side. The flight was so late that there were no more flights out to my destination, so I ended up paying for a hotel and change fee $175+ to book a flight first thing next miening. Both the hotel and SWAir said that certificate was meaningless. Our flight over was bad too-very rude personnel at the desk, and stressed out flight attendants...miserable experience both times-never again. We pre-selected seats and both times we were separated. Save your money and pay more for an airline that has customer service because it will end up costing you more in the long run.

Compared to my most recent experience with Air China this crew, food and comfort were far superior. Admittedly that's a very low hurdle but this crew was quite good. Considering experience with three different flights the previously arranged wi-fi worked on none.

Flight was on time. Plane was very clean. Crew were courteous. Food was good. Spirits selection was good. China Eastern lounge in Shanghai is excellent, with a nicely run kitchen that feeds lots of people. Lounge has a very clean shower facility. Overall, excellent value for money.

The flight was delayed over an hour to wait for a flight that had some connecting passengers-the delay caused me to miss my connection on the other side. I expect a full fligjtvto prioritize the paying customers who are already present, most of whom had connections to make. When I requested help rebooking my connecting flight in LAX, they gave me (rudely) a QR code and a “certificate” (piece of paper) that said the flight was delayed. The QR code was to check for updates for the delayed flight (useless) and the “certificate was not a help at all for rebooking my domestic connection on the other side. The flight was so late that there were no more flights out to my destination, so I ended up paying for a hotel and change fee $175+ to book a flight first thing next miening. Both the hotel and SWAir said that certificate was meaningless. Our flight over was bad too-very rude personnel at the desk, and stressed out flight attendants...miserable experience both times-never again. We pre-selected seats and both times we were separated. Save your money and pay more for an airline that has customer service because it will end up costing you more in the long run.

Compared to my most recent experience with Air China this crew, food and comfort were far superior. Admittedly that's a very low hurdle but this crew was quite good. Considering experience with three different flights the previously arranged wi-fi worked on none.

Unfortunately terminal personnel for mainland Chinese airlines have so far been horrible across the entire spectrum. Customer service never enters their minds. My reserved business class seat was given away because I did not check in at the gate in Shanghai before others. I don't know how that would be possible to accomplish when I checked in for the flight (same ticket) around 11 hours earlier in Kota Kinabalu. My connecting flight from Kota Kinabalu arrived over 3 hours prior to this flight departing and my checked bag did not make it onto this aircraft. When asked just about any question the answer was "we don't know" even when the answer is readily available. E.g. when asked whether the aircraft at the gate was that which we would be taking--same answer. I would hope it's not universal with these airlines but so far it's 2 for 2 considering my flights with Air China and China Eastern--they just don't seem to care about their customers. I've flown multiple times with EVA (Taiwan based) and never experienced such conduct.
