When we got to the airport to check in for flight we were told that the flight was overbooked and that we were being put on a Aeromexico flight that had to go through Mexico City with an arrival time in Cancun that was 4 to 5 Later than originally planned. My daughter and son-in-law were just about to board their flight in Denver to Cancun and had to scramble to arrange transportation to be able to meet us at the airport so that they didn’t have to wait for five hours in Cancun for us. We were only compensated with $14 that expired the same day to use in the airport for a wat later than originally planned. I am still waiting for my $200 promised Boucher. This is my last time flying with AVIANCA. I am a frequent flyer and have made the decision to fly AA from now On... She personally got me to the front of the line, and ran with me just about to the gate, where I caught a shuttle to the plane. If she hadn't done so, and if I hadn't checked in so early, I would have been forced to stay in Lima 24hrs, despite buying a rightful seat and having reservations in Buenos Aires. It is appalling and unacceptable that y'all continue to overbook flights, causing incredible trouble, inconvenience and potential harm to your customers. For a service that costs so much, the only acceptable delays are weather and mechanically related. if it hadn't been for amazing staff immediately, I would've been furiously waiting in a city I didn't need or want to be in. Customer service will continue to grow your business or impede it negatively-- how y'all act is up to you. I appreciate how well I was taken care of by several kind individuals."

Cons: "It is not a bargain airline. Once I had to purchase a seat and pay $45 to carry on a suitcase, it would have been cheaper to fly a different airline. I had to join their "club" just to check in. The website it slow thanks to all the adds. Could not even print a boarding pass without the adds. Not a fan - will not be using Spirit again."

Pros: "My flight was canceled indefinitely the night before the flight a) without any heads up and b) due to thunder and lightening, it was the ONLY 6am flight canceled. It's unacceptable to conduct business this way, and to no accomodate as a result. I was left completely screwed over to pay ASTRONOMICAL fees to get home for a family wedding I was in. To rub salt on wounds, Spirit's employees (very tall thin man, young to middle age, on the left far desk) along with one other, were rude, unhelpful, condescending, unprofessional, the list goes on. Spirit just lost a very loyal customer who always stood up for the company name. I expect and deserve better. Guess I'll go to Frontier."

Cons: "Passengers were strung along as the 1:20pm flight was continually delayed. We only found out because the departure time kept changing on the video monitor. Finally when a gate agent showed up to answer questions, he assured us we'd be boarding soon. The next announcement was that the flight was cancelled, and the agent sent all 100+ passengers down a small set of escalators to work with only two agents to get rebooked. It was a dangerous situation as people were running into each other at the bottom of the escalator. I tried calling the customer service line to handle the rebooking and was told they didn't have that capability and I would have to wait in line. I was in line for 3.5 hours before I spoke to someone and got rebooked on a United flight that got me home after 3am the next day. I will never book another flight with Spirit."

Cons: "The Flight was delayed for 7 hours but through out the process there was no clear information when we would be able to fly. So it was hard for us to make a decision on what to do. The airplane we were supposed to ride arrived 6 hours late at 12:00am and they told us first that if we dont board by 12:30am the flight will be canceled and rushed us to the changed gate. Then told us because of inspection that the flight will leave maybe in an hour. We ended up boarding at 1:30 and the flight attendant had no regard of our situation. She made loud and unnecessary PA annoucements such as "now we will dim the lights for your comfort so you can rest well" after the plane has been in the air for 40 minutes. Just overall a terrible experience. I understand now why the price is so cheap."
Pros: "I appreciated the timeliness of the flight. The captain made sure to make up on lost time due to an 8 min delay."
Cons: "The crew had poor attitudes and they charged me 3$ FOR A CUP OF WATER. Spirit should have complimentary water at the least"
Cons: "Customer service took 20 minutes to refund my money and didn't even attempt to get me on a flight with another airline. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with an airline company. I could not be more disappointed."
Pros: "The boarding process was smooth and we took off/ landed on time."
Cons: "The crew was complaining as we were boarding about how tired they were to each other and not really helping guests. There was a crying baby for a long time on the red eye and I felt they could've offered the mother some help but they didn't do anything. Then the mother tried to stand up after we had landed but before the seat belt sign had gone off and the stewardess freaked out on her. Could've handled the situation much more professionally. The seats suck, the tray tables suck, not having a complementary beverage sucks, and paying for carry on bags sucks. But that's Spirit and everyone knows that is why they suck."

Cons: "As we were on the jet way they made us all turn around and get off the plane. Half the plane had boarded already, they said it was because the crew on board wasn't ready. Why didn't they stop the first passenger then!?!? Then the 1 gate attendant had to rescan all boarding passes including the people on board. I have never seen anything like this ever. So we are 15 min pass departure time and the pilot says he's waiting on paperwork. This somehow turns into a mechanical issue and we to take off for another hour. No water, nothing. I will never fly them again."

Cons: "Tried to catch the red eye. Delays then 4 hours late. Nobody would tell us anything except that they actually had "No Spirit ". We asked about our connection which we had originally planned 5 hours for, and they would not even look up a number for. I travel a fair amount and understand the "stuff happens" scenario , but the lack of helpfulness was astounding. And the smarmy smugness really ticked me. Don't save the $ on cheaper tickets, it'll cost more in long run. Spit airlines sux. And yes,Spit, not Spirit, is their name. Would be slightly different if I wasn't keeping this review PG."
