Cons: Headphone availability
Pros: Boarded plane back to front once Priority members boarded. Overall staff and Pilots were great. A quick flight of 75 minutes. Tea, coffee or water provided along with a small snack. Smooth flight and only minor delays which were handled in a timely manner.
Cons: Enforcing covid restrictions
Pros: Short flight good crew
Cons: Better seats and comfort. Better plane and at least a much more cleaner plane. These air planes are showing their age and need a refresh of the cabin.
Pros: Middle seats not booked. Cabin very clean, bathrooms kept tidy throughout trip. Very friendly crew. Appreciated cold drinks and selection of snacks,
Cons: The exit row 12B kept making a high pitch squealing noise...very unnerving
Pros: The little food packets were cool and convenient.
Pros: The cleanliness, the upbeat and sweet crew, the pilot did a great job taking of and landing, and controlling the turbulence. Communication was great.
Cons: More leg space
Cons: Customer service, the app defies the laws of physics, it blows and sucks at the same time, and email says expect a reply in 3 weeks. United thanks you Delta, they just gained 2 new customers!
Cons: The one member on the crew team was rude and harsh. Very poor customer service skills.
Pros: Crew did an outstanding job
Pros: I was moved up to comfort instead of main cabin.
Cons: The wifi didn’t seem to be working on the flight even tho it said it was equipped.
Pros: Crew was wonderful
Cons: For this COVID to be over
Cons: Boarding from rear to front.
Pros: Seat was not comfortable for a 3hr flight. Was very disappointed
Cons: Seat, tv, choices, flight attendants speech articulation.
Pros: Crew was awesome!
Cons: The boarding did not go on time. An announcement about why would have been nice. Still made it on the flight on time.
Pros: Saftey measures great
Cons: Serve alcohol :)
Pros: Same crew and great experiments again
Pros: Kosher snacks! Thank you! Very safe and controlled Covid procedures. Made me feel safe.
Pros: Very controlled and safe Covid procedures. Outlets and screens at every seat.
Pros: Nice airline attendants!
Cons: Enforcing people wear masks over their noses!
Pros: Great crew, spacing of passengers, comfortable, on time
Pros: Felt very clean and so glad they are not selling every seat
Cons: It was great! Nice job Delta !
Cons: We didn't really have social distancing on board but it was as good as could. be expected
Cons: Good for now
Cons: There should not be a pay wall around the internet in today's day and age
Cons: Felt unsafe. Guy with guns and how delta employees handled it blew my mind!
Cons: Better choices for food
Cons: Significant delay of departure.
Pros: The fight was very professionally carried out.
Cons: The gate agent hurried ineffectively to board our slightly delayed flight (around 10 min). She left open the Priority Lane and boarded all pax there, having to step 4 steps to the left to scan every boarding pass.
Cons: Best option across the pond
Cons: Plane journey awful. Speaker had a loud buzzing noise all the time so never heard a word bad landing. Rattling plane Very cold.
Pros: The inflight entertainment options were nice, I enjoyed the flight status option, and the USB port was very helpful.
Cons: Three hour delay due to wiring issues, cramped seating that made it impossible to get even the most basic of maps, and our flight attendant was upset that we didn't notify them that we were vegans in advance. We didn't know that they had vegan options, and weren't upset about not eating the in-flight meals. She was much more upset about it than we were and it made me uncomfortable refusing the food that I knew I couldn't eat. Other passengers even asked us if we had eaten anything. It was almost embarrassing.
Pros: The nice staff and entertainment options.
Cons: I usually fly delta and have a great experience - unfortunately my flight from Detroit to Seattle was not. To start off, i was flying with two other people and we were not able to get seats together, and the whole seating process with delta is really difficult even when I had called weeks in advance to see if they could try and seat us together. I understand with main cabin tickets you can only choose your seat as you check in, but it would be nice to be able to request seating with a person/group you are flying with. I was placed in the very back row of a busy flight, and noticed that the horrible smell from the bathrooms which made it unpleasant. As said above, I normally have a pleasant experience.. but being a delta sky member I feel as though i do not really receive any differences as to a non-member. I hope this review helps for the next customers! Thank you.
Pros: Flew premium economy/delta comfort + and was a great flying experience. A taste of business without the $3000+ ticket price. Food was excellent, a huge step above economy. Extra comfort with wider seats. And priority boarding as well. This was more like premium economy that you get with European airlines. For long haul flights, well worth the cost. Flight was delayed 2 hours, but Delta had their own special route in Shanghai airport to bypass a lot of the crowds either transferring or checking in for fight. I wouldn’t have made my connecting flight if they hadn’t. Plus my checked bags went straight thru to my final destination in china,n instead of having to pick up and re-check them in Shanghai.
Cons: 2-hour delay causes me to almost miss my connection. I know some passengers had to be transferred to different flights which they almost missed.
Pros: The Delta Help Desk at the airport was actually pretty helpful for the times I had to use them.
Cons: Flight was delayed....3 times(more?) from late at night to early morning the next day. Delta Help Desk rescheduled me and got me a room at Howard Johnson’s for the night. Called HoJo’s to confirm they had non-smoking rooms available. Got on the hotel’s shuttle bus and the driver announced that HoJo was full and all voucher holders would go to Rodeway Inn but those without vouchers would go to HoJo....huh!?? Called HoJo and the same person I’d spoken to 20 mins prior said it was correct, that Rodeway was a sister property. The Rodeway Inn Metro Airport is pretty disgusting. This is my opinion after coming from remote Mexico and extensive travel in Africa. It should be torn down. Delta/HoJo should not send customers there.
Cons: Over an hour delay before boarding due to supposedly bad weather. Because flight was overbooked they were offering $400 gift card to change to standby on another flight. If you didn’t make that flight (evening), you’d be confirmed on a flight the following morning with one stop in Detroit (we booked a nonstop to Chicago). Uh, no thanks. Then to top it off, we’ve landed and been told that it will be at least an hour before we can deplane due to no availability at the gate (it’s 1145 pm right now). All this plus their new policy of not allowing us to select our seats because we bought the cheapest tickets. Really Delta? You go ahead and cater to the rich and I’ll choose to fly with another airline.
Pros: Swift travel!
Pros: Even though we were in the very back row, we did not experience a foul smell from the restrooms. This was a very nice relief. It is bad enough that the seats don't recline and there is no window in the very back row but prior experience with the added nausea of foul restroom order has been a serious insult to injury. In this case there was really minimal odor. Also since we are traveling as a family we are very happy that we were seated together. We have experienced the past that sometimes our seats will be fragmented and that creates major challenges when you are traveling with young children. However on this particular flight the ride was rough during both takeoff and landing, a lot of side to side shimmy. Also the cabin pressure varied quite a bit during landing causing all the kids to complain about some discomfort in their ears.
Cons: When I bought my ticket last Nov , I paid extra to select seats, only to discover no aisle seats available for the 15 hour flight from LAX to Guanghzou. I tried many times to call CSA LA office using toll free and regular number, but could never speak to a human. Last November 7 I missed my flight home due to the Thai King's motorcade causing the road I was on to be closed for more one hour. I arrived at the CNXairport nearly one hour before the scheduled departure time, only to find CSA check in counters already closed. CSA Bangkok made me pay for a one way ticket home on Nov 8 even though all 3 flights were not full. I arrived well I'm advance and checked in. CSA began boarding 30 minutes before the time shown on my boarding pass and closed the aircraft doors shortly aftethe boarding time listed. No wonder I missed my Nov 7 flight! I wrote CSA LA a letter including the receipt for the one way ticket and requested a refund or at least a reply or home call. I never received a reply. I have flown CSA/Delta from Detroit, MI to Chiang Mai, Thailand 5 or 6 times in the last 3 years. It seems they don't care about customer loyalty. In the future CSA will not be my first choice and I will pay somewhat more to fly another airline.
Pros: I flew on a basic economy fare (I understand the restrictions) and was seated in Economy Comfort +, so that was appreciated.
Cons: I could see on the Fly Delta app that I had been placed in seat 10B, but neither the app nor my boarding pass gave me a group to board with, so I assumed that I needed to board with group 3, which necessitated gate-checking my rollerboard bag. Only when I approached the gate to board did I notice on the info screen that I had been "upgraded" to Comfort + and granted boarding with the Sky Priority group. I wish this had been clearer so I could have avoided waiting to board and gate-checking my bag. Minor inconvenience but room for improvement on Delta's part.
Pros: The Delta people were solicitous, efficient and brilliant the whole way through. We had not a bit of trouble. Our first class seats were comfortable, but with the supplied blanket, pillow and poor air conditioning it was a hot flight. The cabin personnel were wonderful as per usual, and my tasty gin and tonic soothed any discontent. I wish I could fly this way all the time!
Cons: The private contractor handling wheelchair assistance was terrible. A Delta employee theorized that they do not pay enough to attract and retain personnel. Our pre-arranged chair was not there, multiple calls by our Delta assistant finally got us a ride to the chair holding area, but after about 45 minutes we gave up and shuffled off to the security area on foot. Thank goodness my hubby is mobile enough for that to have been an option. When we abandoned our wait we were still 4th in line for an attendant to push the chair. If Delta has any responsibility in this it would be in the retention and compensation for the private contractor.
Pros: Plane was clean, attendants were friendly, and food was fine.
Cons: I had a flight from Detroit to Montreal. Tried to check in and DTW was not a choice on the westjet website and so I physically could not check in. I realized the flight was technically operated not by WestJet, but Gojet. Went to Gojet's website and was told that Delta took care of all of their ticketing and such. Went to Delta's website, entered my ticket number and card number but I was not in the system as I was given all WestJet info (not Delta's). Luckily the baggage check in people figured it all out.
Pros: Seat was not comfortable. But plane was on time and crew members were polite.
Cons: Improve seats.
Cons: Didn’t let me in on the plane and plane wasn’t boarding yet they made me miss my flight
Pros: Crew was very nice.
Cons: They really packed us in like sardines and did not enforce any mask-wearing.
Cons: Too many people, some people are flying sick . I just wish someone would check their temperature
Pros: Big seats
Cons: Free wifi
Pros: Spirit Air has very capable, professional, & helpful employees,... you remind me of German carriers I worked for (Condor, Lufthansa & LTU)
Cons: People around me kept taking off their masks. The crew corrected them twice, but I think they could have done a better job of it.
Cons: Free baggage and seats
Cons: Constant meaningless delay’s.
Cons: Every thing
Cons: No social distancing, every seat was taken
Cons: Hospitality, comfort, fees for everything
Cons: It was appalling the place was 100% full when we are in the middle of a global pandemic. Shame on the greed of Spirit
Cons: The check in staff. Had No sympathy that I had to leave my things because I was not charged the 1st time I went. But I. The way back u was getting charged I had the same bags as the 1st flight. Then 1 of my kids mask broke and I had no card mask should be giving out if a person is not weak g one. I am very unhappy with spirit
Cons: My flight was delayed 7 hours. I never recieved an e-mail letting me know of this even though I gave my email when I bought the tickets so that I would get updates on the flight. I checked the flight status before leaving my house at 2am and the flight was still on time. After driving 2 hours to the airport and going through security I found out that my flight was being delayed 7 hours and no representative was even at the gate to speak with. All I was given was one $14 meal voucher which didn’t even cover a full meal at the airport. It’s told that the issue was mechanical but I later found out that te first flight had been over booked and the 1pm flight didn’t have enough people on it so they made everyone on at 6am flight wait until 1pm to fly out. Once on the plane, the seats were hard and uncomfortable and the plane was cold. I am extremely disasiflied and will never use Spirit again.
Pros: NOTHING WAS GOOD ABOUT THIS FLIGHT!
Cons: I received notices of delayed departure of two hours but that same notice showed the arrived was delayed by over four hours. I called and talked to an agent and asked how my flight could have all of sudden gotten two hours longer and was told the delayed departure was correct and the arrive time was not. He said it was a mechanical issue and could change so I should still go to the airport an hour before my original departure time, which I did. When I arrived the flight was now delayed by more than four hours and I was told it was due to the crew being timed out so I had to sit there for five hours waiting to leave. I should be compensated for this error but cannot find out how to do that!
Pros: Flight departed early and landed almost 40 minutes early. Good service. Nice crew. I paid extra for the big First seat.
Cons: Still no frills. No internet. No power for your computer. No reclining seats.
Pros: Seats were nice and stewardist.
Cons: Was running late because roads were almost to point of non drivable. Zero visibility. The spirit machine would not print my boarding pass. It said see an attendant for assistance. I checked in day before flight. The man at first would not help me print my pass. I couldn't pull my pass up on smart phone but I had the receipt and confirmation. Finally he helped and printed my boarding pass. People shouldn't be treated like this. I pay my taxes and I don't have to choose spirit. I can fly through another airliner. The fact that he was giving me a hard time on Christmas was even worse. If I acted that way at my job I'd be fired. Thank you for sending me your survey and have a great day and a happy new year.
Pros: The only up side is that I eventually got home... :(
Cons: When I purchased my ticket I paid extra for an isle exit row seat. On the day of my flight I got an email plenty early that the flight had been delayed an hour with no explanation why, which stinks. Once on the plane we found out that the reason we were delayed was because they changed the planes that morning and we needed to wait for an extra stewardess to get to the airport bc of the plane change. This is HORRIBLE planning, if you don't have the staff don't change the plane!! Also because of the plane change my seat was no longer in an exit row. When I explained to the stewardess that I paid extra for my seat that was supposed to be in an exit row I was told that I needed to return to my seat and they will fix it after they are done boarding. Once everyone was on the plane they told me that I was "lucky" because there was still a middle seat in an exit row available... Again I had PAID EXTRA for an ISLE EXIT ROW seat when I purchased the ticket but now I am lucky they can seat me in the last exit tow seat available. When I brought up the fact that I shouldn't have to complain to get the seat that I had already paid for the stewardess gave me attitude like I should be grateful for whatever they give me. Then she passed me off to another gentleman who didn't care about hearing what my issue was he just wanted the plane to take off already. I felt very disrespected by all the Spirit employees once on the plane. Spirit in general is very shady because if I hadn't brought up the fact that I paid extra for my exit row they would have just let me pay the extra money for a normal seat.
Cons: The passenger next to us smelled like vomit. It was terrible sitting next to him and I had to keep spraying my body mist every few minutes since it was extremely hard to breathe! He smelled like dead rats and old eggs vomitus combined! Worst experience in any airline so far! :(
Cons: Spirit Airlines does not care AT ALL. I will never fly them again. No explanation of delay, which then led to a full cancellation, in which they then had us waiting in a line for 20 minutes until they (finally?) ejected us out of the security zone because they put our bags at baggage claim, so I wasn't able to buy a flight at a desk from another airlines right nearby because I had to go back through security so they messed up my timing entirely. I have also not received my refund for my baggage / seat extras and it's been a full week. Horrendous. If I could give them negative ratings I would.
Pros: Email update about change of gate.
Cons: Spirit is not forthcoming on website about the extra charges prior to booking the flights, and the charges go up substantially at the airport. There was 45 minute wait time at the baggage claim. The seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced in 50 years of flying. There is also not nearly enough leg room between rows. Charging $65 for a small piece of carry on luggage is disgusting. Not having any water free of charge is not healthy for the passengers on a 4.5 hour flight. The flight attendants discouraged anyone from standing or moving around, also not good for one's health.
Cons: Flight was late by an hour. This then caused us to have to wait over 2 hours on the plane to be able to get off. US customs was backed up with flights that should have arrived after us. This caused us to miss our connection. The connection time for us was 3 hours and we still missed that flight. They then suggested that it was not their fault and that they would get us on the next flight on the next day at night. We decided to get our money back and bought a ticket with Southwest Airlines instead. They lack in taking responsibility for their mistakes. Their employees don't care and continue on as if nothing is wrong. Our whole flight missed each and every connection. we are all here with Southwest ready to fly out in a couple of hours.
Cons: Everything that Spirit has done has been mediocre. I bought a ticket for my employee to fly to New Orleans and he showed up at the kiosk 40 minutes before the flight and was not able to get on so I had to pay $15 to reschedule for today and he showed up at the same time and still they said that their computers were down and they couldn't check anybody in and there's multiple people angry that they're boarding passes want working and so now we have to figure out how he can get to New Orleans and actually make it there. It'll be three days of not being able to get there because of spirits unethical and subpar customer service. I will never choose to fly Spirit again after this
Cons: Flight was cancelled TWICE in one day. I ended up having to book on another airlines and paid quadruple the original price out of my own pocket. Spirit told me I should go to the airport (an hour away), and they would "try" to make put me on a flight with another carrier. This was a business trip and I absolutely had to be there for a certain time, so I couldn't risk waiting on Spirit to "try" and place me with no guarantees. They gave me two $50 flight vouchers, as if I'll ever fly with them again! Awful, stressful experience.
Pros: Flight attendants were a cut above -- calm, charming and very helpful as opposed to the surly hall monitors typical of most budget most airlines.
Cons: Aware of "hidden fees" I checked all of my boxes, checked in online in advance, paid for bags in advance, and when I got there, gate agent says bags were not paid for... BS. I entered credit card and paid. Apparently payment did not go through. Would NOT have been an issue at all had I not been charged $10 more for the same check-in. What a racket. Even when I tried to avoid surprise fees, they got me. Same thing happened to another passenger. Totally unethical. No benefit of the doubt given. Unreal. It destroyed what would have been an overall good experience on Spirit.
Cons: My flight was cancelled less than 2 hours before the departure. I was told this at the airline counter. I took 7 o'clock AMTRAK to go Chicago and then took Blue line (45 minutes) to get to O'Hara airport. The girl at the counter did not explain why the airplane was cancelled. She offered a flight next day at the same time. My poster presentation was at 8:30AM next day. There was no alternative flight from Chicago to Boston. I just cannot believe this. I totally missed my conference presentation. BAD!
Cons: Paid $50 to check a computer they told me was too big for a carry-on. Computer was sent on a direct flight way before I was getting to my destination(instead of on my connection) and was left in an unattended area. They told me it was "most likely stolen" and asked why I didn't take it on the plane. Your gate agent told me it was too big!!!! This was the answer I got after 3 days of investigating myself. I was told various stories like "it got stuck at security" and "it never got on the plane" until I got home and went directly to the baggage office and asked them on my own. The kid that actually tagged it said his supervisor told him to send it direct. Sounds like they set things up to get stolen. I will be filing a complaint and claim.
Cons: flight attendant did not make the person in front of me put their seatback up for takeoff or landing, and I was the row before emergency row so it was hard to get in the seat or out! The 3-4 minute sales pitch for a credit card was over the top after being nickel and dimed for everything from boarding priority, seat selection, and bags. Spirit should not be listed with other airlines on flight services such as Kayak because of their hidden fees, and charging for carry on items. You should not have to sign up for their frequent flyer program in order to print a boarding pass.
Pros: The staff was very polite knowledgeable and always smiled and some joked with made the flight a pleasure.
Cons: I didn't know that the bag check was 40 pounds most are 50. I booked though a 2nd party and was not informed about having to pick a seat and the you had to pay for a carry on. They do not tell you about this be for you check out and also if you booking for 2 you may not be together on the flight unless you. pay before hand and then pick your seat. Also when looking for a phone umber on the web site and you hit contact us it sends you to the help and doesn't not show a phone number to talk to a person. The flight was good. I don't think that you should have to pay extra to make sure you are next to your family when traveling
Cons: I didn't like anything. Will never book with Kayak or spirit. My flight from Chicago to Minneapolis was cancelled and I have still not got my refund. Pathetic!
Cons: Myself and fifteen year old daughter exited plane from Ft. Myers to grab a quick bite to eat and upon returning to same plane with printed boarding passes and assigned seats our boarding passes did not scan correctly. At this time there was about 30 or so people behind us to board as there was plenty of time. We were asked to step aside and a employee was trying to figure things out. In the meantime ALL people in line were allowed on plane even though several had problems but were quickly fixed! At last second we were told to board the plane and try to find two seats. Only one was left on flight and we were told they had to leave and sorry but we must exit plane! Worst I have ever been treated by an airline ever in all my years of travel! I did get some money compensation, rented a car and drove 13 hours to Chicago! Awful way to end a vacation!
Pros: Not much
Cons: Were unable to get boarding pass at check-in desk unless an extra fee was paid; instead was required to get boarding pass at kiosk. Doors to plane were closed 30 minutes prior to scheduled flight time (the flight was delayed through no fault of Spirit; not blaming them for the additional wait at the flight gate). Distance between seats is smaller than on other airlines; quite uncomfortable. Baggage fee was excessive; We checked our baggage even though it was carry-on size because it cost even more to bring a carry-on. No frills is an understatement.....even beverage service was not included in cost. Spirit is no bargain even though it looks like they are the cheapest when you book the flight. I made the mistake of forgetting how miserable Spirit flights are, lured by the "cheap" fare. Will not forget and accidentally use them again!
Cons: During a difficult weather situation, Spirit was absolutely useless and left us stranded for a week. With storms on the East Coast, Spirit cancelled flights two days in a row (as did all other airlines). However, with Spirit, the website was useless for rebooking ourselves, and there were so few representatives at the airport and to reach a rep on the phone that we waited several hours just to be able to rebook at the airport. In the end, Spirit could not get us on another flight out for 7 more days. Causing extreme additional expense to me and my travel partner. I will never risk flying Spirit again.
Pros: Friendly employees
Cons: Spirit canceled our flight and their only solution was refund or wait 3 days until they could get us home. Had to spend thousands to rebook to get us home the next day on another again. Never again.
Pros: Boarding was easy. Flight had a few bumps but we were instructed to put on seat belts & then it was calm. Our flight attendants were friendly & efficient. I had an emotional support dog w/ me & they located a seat for me where there wasn't 3 across. SO nice of them & the lady on the aisle petted my dog on & off during the flight & thanked us for making her flight nicer. Had a smooth landing. When we got off they said good bye to my dog! What a nice crew! Flight left on time & arrived on time as well.
Cons: I enjoyed everything especially the crew.
Cons: First, when I booked I was not given option to pay for baggage or choose seats, meaning I wasn't able to use the cheapest option. I had to spend at least 2 hours on the phone with a Spirit agent to get to pay for my bags before arriving at the airport at all - I wasn't able to do it online. On day of flight: the first leg was delayed. When we got to layover our final flight had been cancelled with no reason given. We were booked on another flight 8 hours later which meant we got in late enough that I had to miss another day of work. The Spirit agent at the gate in Las Vegas was also extremely rude. I also didn't get any phone or email updates.
Pros: We landed safe.
Cons: I needed to change my flight to a later time within minjtes of booking and they charged me for it. The delay was over two hrs w no explanation, $100 charges for a backpack, seats do not recline, narrow space, $3 for water,, there were emty seats and was told I would have to pay $75 is I moved from my broken seat. staff is rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. Overall , I have travleled the world in all kinds of flights and by far the worst experience I have ever had was flying SPIRIT Air. I will avoid flying Spirit unless it tis my last option...which I may cosider not flying at all. Zero Stars
Cons: Liked every bit of it
Cons: There were 5 of us who were trying to print our boarding passes. We were close to the 45 minute cutoff but there was still a man there who could've helped us but he insisted that there was nothing he could do! We walked around the freaking airport and no one could help us. We called the 800 number, no help. They even wanted us to buy a WHOLE NEW TICKET, with NO discount! Never again will I fly Spirit. Found a cheaper, nicer flight with someone else AND they didn't charge for everything like Spirit does! Ugh. Worst experience flying EVER!
Pros: The idea that I don't have to use Spirit the next time I travel
Cons: I got to the Airport to try to print out my boarding pass 45 minutes before the flight at 5:20 AM for a 6:05 flight. I must have missed the required cut off (45 minutes to check in) by a minute or two and the Spirit Airlines person responsible for helping refused to help me and even acknowledged that there was no line at security and I would have easily been able to get on the flight and I had no bag to check in. She said I could get on a flight the next day. I had to buy a ticket from another airline in order to get home.
Cons: The flight was cancelled due to the plane being stuck in another city due to weather. I've had this happen before with other airlines, and they were able to rebook me on another airline's flight, with no price difference. With Spirit, they only were able to refund my money or move me to another date, four days later, which would have caused me to miss the event I was supposed to attend over the weekend. I thought since I was flying solo, without my kids in tow, using a cut-rate airline would have worked out. I've had no problems with JetBlue or SW in the past. But I would stay away from using Spirit.
Pros: NOTHING POSITIVE!
Cons: They chose to cancel the return flight within 2 hours of the scheduled departure and were not at all helpful trying to get anyone out on any other airlines (because they're next available flight to that destination was 4 days out...) Not to mention on the initial flight to my destination, they had everyone board the plane 40 minutes early and then told everyone they had to all evacuate the plane and delayed the flight for 4 hours for NO reason!!!!! I would highly recommend avoiding flying spirit airlines at all cost, what I thought was a decent deal ended costing me an extra $400 for my last minute one-way trip and adding many many hours to my time traveling......
Pros: If I want to fly somewhere with just my laptop and no carry on and no luggage, this will be the way to go.
Cons: After booking this flight with Spirit (2 flights out and 2 flights back, and I'm not going to rate each one separately) I was ready to log in an pay for baggage because I did not carefully examine all the details when booking. We did not get a free carry-on and the price for paying for luggage was higher than expected. BUT that was just the beginning. In every flight I've been on before, you pay for your bags one, I had to pay for the bags each step of the way. And paying for luggage and carry-ons each step of the way meant paying over $300 for bags. I'm used to paying $30 per person. So my excitement at getting low fares evaporated instantly. I was now paying the going rate for the flight with a lot of extra hassle to boot. I was with my aunt who needed a wheelchair to get around the airport in a wheelchair. Other airlines had them available for us to use, but Spirit would only offer to call a service for us. They did not indicate what the cost of this service would be. They didn't say it was free and they didn't say it was not. I just found an empty wheelchair and used that, after having just paid more than $300 for baggage for three small bags, I wasn't into more surprises. But I had to use American Airlines wheelchairs which they were cool with, because Spirit refused to let me use theirs without the escort (paid?) who actually didn't show up in the few minutes it took me to think it through.
Pros: When a plane arrives late the turn around time is amazing. Doesn't take them much time at all to get going again. Attendants and pilots were professional.
Cons: Boarding is a mess. You may board by zones but it really doesn't seem to workout. About half the people respect the order about half do not. People cut in line when they haven't even been there waiting. Do something like Southwest and have us board by groupings. They are much smaller units and people get in their correct order. You guys can get portable ones. That would move you all up significantly in the boarding process. That is by far the worst of all categories. The ladies at the gate really can't police that, make it easy for those who are boarding by having a clear and organized process.
Cons: The extreme restrictions on luggage are very hard to deal with, and during the flight there are constant announcements for drinks and snacks for sale. Considering the base rate for a flight is only a little less than other airlines, and if you decide to pay for a reasonably-sized suitcase it's actually more expensive than other airlines, it doesn't make a lot of sense to fly with Spirit. It also feels like they're doing you a favor for even letting you on the plane, rather than grateful for your business. The entire Spirit experience drives me up a wall.
Pros: Only their initial "SUCKER PRICE" that does NOT include any luggage or the ability to sit with your family without paying extra!!!
Cons: They use an initial "SUCKER PRICE" which does NOT include ANY LUGGAGE or the ability to SIT WITH YOUR FAMILY without paying extra!! $50 extra for each piece of luggage ... EACH WAY1 If you don't pay at the check in counter they charge $100 for each piece of luggage - each way and that includes ANY BACKPACK WITH WHEELS! $25 FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER TO SIT TOGETHER!!!! NO COMPLIMENTARY FOOD OR DRINK. 2 sodas are $5! (can't buy just one) NO none zero entertainment, not even a radio channel.
Cons: I usually never post anything negative for a review, so here is my first one. I had an awful flying experience with spirit I will never fly with them again. I will keep it short and simple. They charge you for everything that your flight ends up becoming super expensive and its obscured until you get hit with the fee. First off, bag check in is ridiculously expensive. Cost me just about 100 dollars to check a tiny bag. The seats on the airline do not recline and there was absolutely zero leg room. Im not that tall (6'0), so there is no reason I should have to sit sideways on the seat because my knees are jammed into the seat in front of me. My entire neck and back became stiff when I got off the aircraft because of this. Water cost me 5 dollars. Do I need to say more? Water should be free. I left my long sleeve shirt in my bag that was already checked, so I asked a flight attendant if they had a tiny blanket ( It was so cold my jaw was shivering ) And she literally told me you should have brought one, we are not responsible for lending flyers blankets because its too cold.. Could not believe the awful experience I had with this airline. Never again. 1 star is generous.
Cons: Flight was cancelled under for 4 prior to takeoff. Spirit showed a direct flight same day online at 9PM from LAX to Chicago but when I called to confirm they said it was not available to me and put me on a 6 hour layover flight to MN. I asked for a hotel since I was spending the night in MN which I had not planned for and they denied that. I asked to use my $50 voucher they fought to provide me for a cancellation inconvenience for an in flight water and they said they only accept credit cards. I'm stuck in MN for the night with nothing to eat drink or anywhere to sleep cause of the late cancellation notice which they claimed was a mechanical error. I'm pissed I want my money refunded.
