Flight connections can be risky with a 2:45-hour gap. Be aware that the Houston airport is very busy.

Make sure that you verify that if you have a code share flight, that you DOUBLE/TRIPLE CHECK which counter to check in at. I booked a British Airways flight operated by American Airlines. The BA flight counter was closed until an hour prior to my departure, it was really AA that I needed to check in at. The people around the airport are helpful and speak English beautifully so just ask! Also, the security point is IMMEDIATELY before only 2 gates, so keep in mind for buying food/drink. There's also a very relaxing lounge with reclined seats prior to the security checkpoint, it's free/open.

Do not let go of your mobility equipment. Do not move from the jet bridge until you see your stuff.

Leave plenty of time for layover in US as the queues for immigration are very long and you are likely to miss your connecting flight

Don’t fly to Dallas. This isn’t about BA, but DFW was a really bad experience. TSA was horrible- rude, seemingly delighted in just being unhelpful, actually yelling at pax to “come on, get moving!” then asking why we didn’t have (whatever) out. Uhhh, that’d be because I can’t do it while moving, and not moving isn’t an option. Followed sign to TSA Pre, not there, asked agent who just pointed back where we came and said “follow the signs”. “Yes, they pointed here” “just follow the signs.” Multiple gate changes (to other terminals!) requiring multiple train rides. Just unpleasant. Find another connecting airport.

Eat before your flight if possible as inflight meals are pretty bad.

It may be worth dealing directly with certain airlines, vice third-party bookings. The inability to hold an intity accountable for misques while in transit is an unnecessary frustration.

The ground transportation situation (Uber, taxis) at International Arrivals (Terminals D/E) is frankly pathetic for a major American city. Way too many people and cars for the allotted space. I would recommend taking the mini-train to another terminal (A,B or C) and getting an Uber there, rather than trying to navigate International.
