Flights from Texas to Europe: the best tips from KAYAK users

Insights shared by verified travelers who flew the route from Texas to Europe

Do not fly with Iberia/British Airways unless you have enough money for a suite or expensive seating. The food is awful, too. The best flight we had was through Turkish Airlines. We did have a stopover in Istanbul, but that just gives you a chance to see the beautiful Blue Mosque.
JulieFlew with IberiaAUS-LHRMar 2025
Virgin airlines is the most comfortable. Be patient and flexible.
JamesFlew with American AirlinesIAH-LHRApr 2025
Try to avoid Heathrow! Not the most convenient to get into London unless you have a driver. Also, Heathrow needs better signs on where to go to exit and better wifi for foreign travelers.

Bring some thing with you for seat padding. And check in and get seat assignments as soon as you are allowed to pick them
Verified travelerFlew with Turkish AirlinesDFW-ISTDec 2024
Go with Turkish Airline that is the only nonstop option and overall good service.
Verified travelerFlew with IberiaDFW-LHRDec 2024
If you can't check in online do it by phone, don't do it at the airport because the system sucks!
Verified travelerFlew with British AirwaysDFW-LHRSep 2024
Do not fly British airways they canceled our flight, offered us a hotel in London. then didn't give us one.
ChadFlew with American AirlinesDFW-FCOJul 2024
Absolutely get in the earliest boarding position possible if you want to get your carryon luggage on board. If you are over 6’0’ invest in a a quality medical plan for chiropractic care or consider setting appointments with your health care professionals prior to the trip to ensure you can get help when returning.
Verified travelerFlew with Turkish AirlinesIAH-ISTJul 2024
I think boarding was performed nicely and flawless, Crew was there for people who needed help. Whoever needed help, crew helped with seating them and baggage.
Verified travelerFlew with LufthansaIAH-FRAAug 2024
The 747-8 had a galley where you could order food and drinks outside the normal schedule. Very convenient if you have an aisle seat.
Verified travelerFlew with LufthansaDFW-FRAAug 2024
Whenever you can avoid flying American airlines, no matter which one. They are just horrible in regard to customer service and amenities. Second worst are European such as Lufthansa. If you can choose customer orinted airlines with good service such as asian and middle east airlines. Just be aware that they often codeshare with Americans and Europeans on routes coming from the States.
keithFlew with United AirlinesIAH-MUCJul 2024
Regardless of Munich as a final destination or connection, you need to go through passport control, which was not organanized well. I had a connecting flight 90 min after landing, and I barely made it. The line for Passport control had about 500 people in front of me. Be prepared for this when booking if you have a connecting flight.
Verified travelerFlew with IberiaDFW-MADJun 2024
Never book a flight from, or connecting through, DFW (Dallas, Tx). Weather is too volatile and unpredictable there. My flight was cancelled after a 7 hour delay.
Verified travelerFlew with Turkish AirlinesDFW-ISTJul 2024
Don't take Turkish Airlines if you want to save your monies and time.
Verified travelerFlew with LufthansaDFW-FRAMay 2024
Get ear plugs , I got ear pain on this flight.
AnnamariaFlew with LufthansaDFW-FRADec 2023
Lufthansa is absolute pro at organizing boarding and making sure everything is as efficient as possible. Highly recommended for intercontinental flights.
PierreFlew with British AirwaysIAH-LHRJan 2024
Make sure the trip insurance is worth something…
Verified travelerFlew with Turkish AirlinesIAH-ISTFeb 2024
Don’t pay extra for assigned seats, they will put you wherever they can, Eat less than 1/2 the food they bring. Drink more water. If you plan to use your noise canceling headphones, the still use the older 2 pron outlets, bring your old adapter!
SharonFlew with British AirwaysDFW-LHRJan 2024
Take snacks and extra water, ended up without eating and drinking for too long! Also waited too long for luggage to appear… they knew straight away at customer service when I went to check…
