If you know there is going to be construction at the airport perhaps adjust your flight schedule accordingly and don't sell as many flights as when there is no construction?"

Also, the costumer service representative mentioned that if I left th airport, they would not let me back in. They would do 2 security checks on me. After all of that! When I asked the check in lady at air Canada they mentioned that flight was not cancelled and not to look at the boards at the airport because they are incorrect! Horrible service. Cons: "Airplanes were very uncomfortable, flight crew was unfriendly (smiles were scarce and you felt you annoyed them if you wanted anything), service took too long (perhaps not enough personnel for number of passengers), plane was extremely warm, food was only fair -- all other international flights I've taken have had much better food and comforts). We had long layover on return flight in Toronto and airport and Air Canada personnel were not very helpful or accommodating. When we asked for a suggestion on where we could go in the airport to kill several hours (eating, drinking, watching TV), were were told by many that the airport is bad and we're given conflicting or poor answers. Intimately the advice given put us having to go thru security and Custims again (even though we already had) and that process was extremely disorganized and time consuming."

Cons: "Departure was delayed for five hours. Gate changes 4 different times to opposite sides of the terminal. Weren't told honest reason of the delay until two hours in. They boarded half of the plane and stopped when the pilots radioed in that there was a severe hydraulic fluid leak. Updates were supposed to happen every thirty minutes but more than three times they were longer than thirty minute intervals and at one point more than ninety minutes without an update. The representatives at the Chicago gate told us we were all set then the rest of the passengers boarded the plane. The pilot said they were waiting on maintenance paperwork to print off but then we waited an extra hour at the gate on board while we could still hear very loud tests of the hydraulic system. Once we finally left the gate and headed out on the runway for takeoff we stopped just before takeoff and the pilot said we were waiting on PAPERWORK AGAIN! This was another 30 minute delay and we finally took off. We were supposed to arrive home at 10:00pm and instead arrived at 3:00am..."

After spending extra hours waiting due to a delay, we were about 30 min from DCA and our flight was redirected to N.C where we spend an extra 2 hrs waiting for the plane to re fuel and the reason the airline's flew us to N.C is supposedly due to weather in D.C but i was told by locals that its hardly rained. I had spent 11hrs total in airports yesterday. I could have taken that trip via car in 12hrs and saved myself $300 bucks or more. I am beyond unsatisfied with how my travel experience was. From rude united employees to a bad flying experience i will not use united anymore and frankly, me and all the other passengers on that flight should be compensated somehow for that experience. The only easy thing about this trip was purchasing my tickets through kayak and how well there service is. Thank you"

Cons: "Almost could not board my flight back home from Korea as China Eastern changed the departure time of my connection in Beijing by 20 min. After dealing with customer service for over an hour they let me board the flight I already paid for! Middle isle, middle seat at the back of the plane for 14 hours. 1st meal had a very fishy smell so many on the plane didn’t eat it. Someone was smoking in the bathroom too which added a nice smell to the cabin. 2nd meal was a bit better. My seat was pretty tight. (I am 6’2” 230 lbs) Every time I take China Eastern I think to myself never again, but every now and again I have no option. Customer service is almost non-existent if anything goes wrong. They are the only airline that I have issues with almost every booking."

The changed my flight a week before my flight out and rescheduled it to miss my connection flight with them. I spent multiple hours on the phone on hold waiting to talk to an agent and they did not pick up. I emailed them.... no response. Finally I went to the airport and the told me the best they could do was get me to my destination 3 days later or I could buy another ticket. Then they lost my bags on the way back. I doubt I will ever get my money back from them despite the fact I spent an additional $200 to get to where I was flying... avoid them if you can and if another air line is a few extra bucks more it my be cheaper in the long run"

Cons: "The ticketing staff in Shanghai were very unhelpful in providing any courteous upgrade or voucher for our delayed flight and poor hotel accommodations. They also failed to inform the plane staff of my vegetarian request. The plane staff tried to accommodate by offering their own meals to me, or side dishes from the meat meals."
Pros: "The staff was really helpful and the plane itself was completely comfortable, with lie flat seating in business class. Great menu and entertainment too. And at a much lower price than the american carriers."
Pros: "Flight was on time, crews were friendly and helpful, a lot of entertainment choices on the plane, food was not bad. We had a short layover in Shanghai, the crews were very helpful to get us check in through express and get to the connection flight on time."

Cons: "There was a smell of someone smoking 3 times during the flight. Several times, I would ask for something (for example salt), a crew member would say...I'll bring it right over...and then disappear, not even coming over to say whether they have it or not. The flight was uncomfortable, mainly due to the toddler sitting next to me who was extremely loud and kicking everyone's seats around her. When asked to move, the flight attendant did look if there were seats available but said everyone's free seats next to them had been occupied because people were asleep, stretched out on them. When asked if there were maybe seats in the business class, the attendant wouldn't even hear of it, claiming that that is not area and thus she won't even check. Lastly, the food on China Eastern airlines always leaves me feeling a bit off. Freshness is just not their forte. But what can I say, their flights ARE cheap, so you get what you pay for. All in all, a mediocre experience, at best."

Cons: "Delay, Delay, Delay. Every leg of our trip was delay, and they don't tell you why, or for how long. We had a 4-hour delay at JFK. We almost miss our connecting flight at PVG to ICN. Luckily that one also had a two-hour delay. Coming back, same thing. All other airlines on the board had no problem except China Eastern. Good thing ICN was one of the best airport terminal we have ever been to and able to pass time shopping and eating while we wait. But JFK was boring. Will avoid flying China Eastern again. Not dependable."
Pros: "After reading all the negative reviews on this airline, I was nervous to say the least, but was pleasantly surprised. The in flight entertainment was better than I thought. The food was also pretty good. Loved the fish dishes. Flight attendants are attentive and friendly. There was a 2hr delay on the flight to Shanghai, to compensate a bit, they offered everyone in the waiting area free water and snacks."

Cons: "I usually do not write reviews but I promised myself I would go out of my way so my experience will help others. I flew round trip to Japan via Shanghai. All four flights were delayed. The delays are not electronically updated, so don't expect to find out until you reach the gate and see a paper sign saying the flight is delayed. Shanghai airport is a nightmare. For some reason you have to go through complete security check for transferring flights, and the security check had a long, stagnant line both times I transferred. There is only one bag xray machine for everyone transferring flights."
Pros: "The flight itself was good. There were ample films on the entertainment system, and the flight attendants kept the seating area tidy by picking up small trash. They fed us well. The food was hot and well balanced. The menu items were very Chinese, and I appreciated the authenticity. They did not lose our luggage. Very responsible, reliable and trustworthy."
Cons: "We were not given an opportunity to pre select seats, and got middle settings. Provided by our height, this would have made our experience quite uncomfortable. Fortunately, we were able to find empty window seats to slide in. If the flight was full, this would have been impossible. We called the airline's customer service number numerous times before the scheduled flight, however, always were kept on hold for an available agent for an unreasonable amount of time (at least 20 min each) and never got to talk to anyone. Music kept playing."

No issue for me with check in, no luggage lost, staffs are nice. Food is acceptable and I would say even better than United Airline. Large 10" screen with latest new movies. Air ticket price I bought was almost half of what I pay for other major airlines, I would travel with China Eastern again."

Cons: "The flight was cancelled out of nowhere, without any notice. As I had unconnected transfers, this obviously could have thrown things off quite a lot. Fortunately I was able to ask a Chinese friend to help me find another flight that was only a half hour later, but if it wasn't for her I don't know what I would have done."

Cons: "My flight from Shanghai to Beijing was delayed more than 4 hours, which let to missing the connecting flight from Beijing to JFK. Then the nightmare started. It was after midnight when we arrived at Beijing airport. The staff offered no help with re-booking and hotels. I had to spend the night sitting on the cold floor, hungry and anxious till the ticket counter reopened in the morning. The morning staff were even worse than the night crew. They were extremely rude, unprofessional, they lied and insulted customers. Very disappointed with Air China. Will file an official complaint."

Cons: "Air China still doesn’t let you use your phone at all during a flight even on airplane mode which is problematic when all of your music, podcasts, and audiobooks are on your phone. The food was terrible and in a 13 hour flight we were offered no snacks between our two terrible lukewarm meals. The flight attendants were not very helpful or friendly. My boyfriend was having stomach issues and they wouldn’t let them sit in an empty seat next to the bathroom for a few hours. They also booked our tickets with only an hour to switch and had to be rushed through security."

My friend told me that she didn't see this kind of arrangement when she was transfer at Beijing a few years ago and she missed her flight and have to wait for the next flight which was 24 hours later."
Cons: "It seems okay at first. After we landed and by the time I get to the baggage claim area and realized that one of my bag was missing. No one provide any explanation as to why this happens. I have to fill out the Property Irregularity Report and specifically told them to send my missing bag to my work address if my bag is found. The agent told me that before they deliver my bag, they are supposed to call. Two days later, their delivery person came to my work place and do not want to wait for the security guard to call up to get me and took off with my bag. He did not call to inform me of the delivery. I left many messages regarding the incident and no more return my calls or attempt to contact me. They really have very bad customer service. 4 days later, by accident, I spoke with one of the agent and she said they can re-delivery my bag. I found out later that they delivered my bag to my work place at 5AM in the morning. Of course I am in bed and not available to receive my bag. At the time of writing this post, I am 9 days without my bag and I don't know when will I ever get the bag. I will never fly with this airline again and will not recommend to anyone."
Cons: "They tried to screw me over with my reservation from the beginning. No notifications of any changes to my flight or anything. Missed my initial flight going home. Paid another airline to catch my transfer flight and was denied the ability to board. Had to pay for a brand new ticket which I am currently going to dispute with my creditor. They are not American friendly at all. Felt targeted the entire time."
Pros: "Overall a very good job for a low budget flight. The boarding and unboarding process was efficient. The crew was extremely pleasant and helpful, they were constantly monitoring and cleaning the restrooms."
Cons: "The entertainment choices were limited. This was my return flight and since less than half the movie choices (19 total to choose from) were in English (the rest in Chinese with subtitles too small to read on that tiny screen) by half way thru the flight there wasn't anything left to watch:(. The food was very bland, the "shrimp w/noodles" turned out be 6 tiny shrimp with elbow macaroni noodles with absolutely no taste at all (very disappointing). Although there was drinks left in the galley between meals there wasn't any snacks, unlike my first flight from JFK to Beijing, were there were some cookies and fruit also available. Finally, there was an incident with about 5hrs left in the flight were drinks were being served. I had just gotten a glass of orange juice set down on my food tray. No sooner the women sitting in front of me stood up and spilled the entire glass of orange juice in my lap. I call on of the flight attendants for assistance, she was eager to help, unfortunately there wasn't any towels or paper towels or absorbent anything available for her to work with. Fortunately I did have 5hrs to dry!"

Seriously..i paid 5k for this ticket..my bags were checked in to my final destination but at the third destination i was told there was no transfer service ( at guangzhou) snd that i needed to claim it and check it back in even though i cleared immigration at beijing..no one speaks english and will send you in circles around beijing airport..bad bad bad"

Cons: "Departure from Newark was 1.5 hours late because of a lame reason, the luggage couldn't be loaded on the plane in a timely manner. When I arrived at Beijing, they encouraged me to run to my connecting flight, even gave me a sticker and had people directing me, but it all seemed like for nothing as I wasn't even fast tracked through security. Not only did I sprint a mile across the terminal for no reason as the flight departed when I arrived at the gate, they couldn't even properly direct me where to get a new ticket for the next flight. About 100 people missed the flight so I don't know why they didn't hold the connecting flight as it was the last one of the day. Very poor service and organization the entire length of the trip. The flight the next day was late as well!"

I get it, it's Air China. But you don't see Japan Airlines putting 90% Japanese movies on their flights. Food was no good. You're much better off trying to eat at the airport and bring whatever food you can on board."

Even though there was a good selection of entertainment, it wasn't really enough for stuff for round trip (13+ hrs x 2). I would recommend a few more movies. The food was okay, but not great. They came around with carts with drinks but would only pour about 4oz at a time and maybe came 5 times. Not enough for a 13 hour flight. Also, Chinese got preferential treatment for sure, and rude to Americans. Had a connecting flight which we were late so tried to get a flight attendant help us off first. Nope, just said there wasn't enough time and we would miss it and would have to get a flight the next day. Thankfully there were enough people taking the connecting flight they delayed it and we made it, but they do not care..."

They skipped me while serving food and beverage, skipped me while collecting garbage, and would not come when I asked for help. In contrast, 5!3 man on the other side of me kept elbowing me periodically throughout the flight, and placing his feet in front of my chair directly where mine should go. This was extremely annoying on a 13 hour flight. I will never fly with air china again."
