The whole experience was great. Boarding is so orderly. The staff is super helpful. The wifi works great the whole flight so I was able to text for the entire flight. The best part was that it was orderly even when we were exiting the flight.
Felt safe. No bathroom lines since many toilets are located throughout the plane. Passengers did great at following the rules.

Then we realized a zipper was missing from the luggage and then decided to check all the other compartments and realized her bag of jewelry was gone. The woman at baggage services in Albany told us Delta is not responsible for lost belongings. Also tried to tell us theft is not an issue because there are cameras everywhere. Well you are telling someone that is missing a bag of jewelry that theft is not a problem. Also, there may be cameras everywhere but I doubt anyone is going to review those cameras to see what happened. I will never fly Delta again."
Cons: "I had a flight with a connection starting at 6 PM on a Monday. At 5 AM the day of the flight I received notification that the first flight would be delayed, making connection impossible, I was prompted to select another flight to arrive to my destination. I chose a flight with a connection staring at 7 PM. Upon getting on the first flight we began to prepare for takeoff. After about 30 minutes the pilot notified us that we would be delayed 40 minutes because we had nowhere to land at my connection airport. I realized at that point that I would possibly miss my connection, which was scheduled at 10:20 PM. However, I did arrive at the connection airport around 9:40 PM which would have given just enough time to arrive at the connection gate. Unfortunately, upon arrival to the connection airport the pilot informed us that we would have no gate to de-board the plane. The pilot stated that all connections "were aware of our delay" and gave us the gates for each connection. I got off the plane at 10:15 PM and ran to my connection gate arriving exactly at 10:20. The gate attendants informed me that my flight had left, my bags were on the way to my destination city and that I would need to spend the night in the connection city. The attendants, appeared disinterested and impolite but upon prompting provided us with a hotel voucher for the night. The next day we arrived at the airport 2 hours before boarding and waited at the gate. When it was near the time for departure we were informed that the plane had been downgraded and requests were made for some to give up their seats for a later flight or check carryon bags to make room for other passengers. While some lined up to give up their seats and bags, those who chose to remain on the original flight were forced to wait before boarding the plane. We were then told that we would have to wait until the pilot and crew arrived before boarding. Scheduled departure time was 5:46 PM but the time got pushed back until we boarded around 6:30, departure was rescheduled to 6:50 PM. We boarded the plane and waited for departure but a few minutes later the pilot informed us that "he just got here" and that there were mechanical problems that would cause further delay. After an hour we were informed that the plane was not able to fly and instructed to go to another gate for another plane. Departure time got rescheduled to 8:30 PM. The plane departed after 9 PM and arrived at 10:30 PM for a 5:46 PM scheduled departure."

Cons: "I travel this route (ATL - MGM) often and it seems like half the time I use Delta there is an issue with the plane including times when the flight has been cancelled. This time the plane left the gate and some fifteen minutes after sitting on the tarmac was taken back to the gate. The issue was said to be an element that keeps a sensor from freezing in extreme cold weather. The less than one hour flight took two hours to complete. This should have been dealt with as a maintenance issue but Delta doesn't seem to think so. The planes on this route make Delta a LOT of money as it is one of the most profitable routes in the US. You would think Delta could invest in keeping better maintained planes on the route."
Cons: "we began the boarding process late, which can be understandable, although the plane was there pretty early. Once the boarding began, someone, I presume the gate agent, essentially gave a countdown to hhow many minutes were left until the flight could have an "on time departure". I travel nearly every week so I value being on time. However, a minute by minute call to hurry up on a flight that was sold out was over the top. There was mumbling among the passengers, to the point of someone joking "Free cookies and water if we make it on time?" Just a bad gate experience, but bad enough that peopoe were commenting, and I waited for someone from the cockpit to del\part so I could mention it to them."

The exit row food tray was broken and was hard to even sit a good tray on. The emergency exit door isn’t well insulated and we were absolutely freezing cold the entire flight. The seats were hard and uncomfortable. The food was not good for international travel. Overall I was very disappointed in this flight. I travel the world and on long hauls the planes need to be cleaned well and seats in working order."

Cons: "My flight was cancelled and I had anxiety about being at my destinations on time because I had to travel another hour away without knowing if my ride would be able to wait for me. However, I was booked on another plane that wasn't damaged which got me there on time,but once I arrived my luggage was no where to be found. I was promised my luggage on the same day,but I didn't get it until 11:30pm that night from a 2:40pm flight. I had to go out and spend money on toiletries,night wear and my medicine because of not having my luggage. Just totally disgusted by the overall experience and wouldn't wish it on anyone."

Cons: "I could see on the Fly Delta app that I had been placed in seat 10B, but neither the app nor my boarding pass gave me a group to board with, so I assumed that I needed to board with group 3, which necessitated gate-checking my rollerboard bag. Only when I approached the gate to board did I notice on the info screen that I had been "upgraded" to Comfort + and granted boarding with the Sky Priority group. I wish this had been clearer so I could have avoided waiting to board and gate-checking my bag. Minor inconvenience but room for improvement on Delta's part."
Pros: "The crew went out of their way to make sure they got the plane ready as quickly as possible and get us to Jacksonville as quickly as possible."
Cons: "Delta lost the plane for over an hour. After already spending 10 hours in ATL because of an earlier delay due to human error I was extremely disappointed in Delta that my flight out of Atlanta was delayed by an hour because they LOST the plane and couldn’t find it or the truck to bring it to the gate. This kind of error on Xmas eve is embarrassing. Delta didn’t do anything for the passengers affected by this. I was dumbstruck by the apathy of the Delta employees at the gate (the exception was the flight crew, who tried to get the aircraft there earlier). Because Delta did nothing but make error after error I arrived at home 11 hours later than my original flight was booked for on Christmas Eve, missing Christmas Eve Services and family traditions. When I need to get somewhere on time I’ll never rely on Delta after this experience."

I was told a confirmation of a new flight was going to be email once the request from the support had been approved (the email confirmation was never received). I was also instructed multiple times to not show at the airport unless I had receive the confirmation. I was up most of the night waiting for this confirmation that never came!! I received an email this morning letting me know the fight from ALT to Mexico had been delay!! When I opened it to view the itinerary it showed she had been booked for the am fight at 6:30 am! after spending another hour and 35 minutes on the phone your support team could not find a fight until Dec.21!! Not to mention the accepted they had problems with their email system and phones, but asked why didn't I called,mmm I was on the phone for the 3rd time!!!! I am very, very disappointed!! Not a discount was offer or a fight the next day even when I was checking an flights were available!!! Here is the other part,,Rosa came all the way from Mexico to care for her ill sister for the last 2 1/2 months, all she asked was to be able to be back home for the holidays!! Your team insisted on scheduling a flight for next week or a full refund!! This was not a money matter!! It's about getting some one home for the Holidays who has helped a ill person during the most vulnerable time in her life!!"

Our first class seats were comfortable, but with the supplied blanket, pillow and poor air conditioning it was a hot flight. The cabin personnel were wonderful as per usual, and my tasty gin and tonic soothed any discontent. I wish I could fly this way all the time!"
Cons: "The private contractor handling wheelchair assistance was terrible. A Delta employee theorized that they do not pay enough to attract and retain personnel. Our pre-arranged chair was not there, multiple calls by our Delta assistant finally got us a ride to the chair holding area, but after about 45 minutes we gave up and shuffled off to the security area on foot. Thank goodness my hubby is mobile enough for that to have been an option. When we abandoned our wait we were still 4th in line for an attendant to push the chair. If Delta has any responsibility in this it would be in the retention and compensation for the private contractor."

Total silence and seeing the gate agents laugh and talk amongst each other was pretty bad."

Cons: "My flight from ATL to BWI was horrible. It was not a Delta plane. Possibly borrowed from SpiritAirlines, which is an airline I will never fly again even if offered a free flight. That's how strongly I feel about their planes and service. I was seated in a 2across row where the seats were small and my knees were jammed into the seat in front of me the entire flight. I'll grant you I am a big girl at 6' 250 however the first leg of my flight from FLL to ATL which WAS on a Delta plane, was fine. I did not feel smashed into the seat. For the money, I feel like I am due more than being locked into the seat unable to move more than 1/2 inch for an entire flight. Thankfully the flight was under 2 hours."
Cons: "Everything that could have gone wrong with my flights, went wrong. On my way from LA to Raleigh (through Atlanta), I was affected by the weather conditions at Atlanta. I understand that the weather is beyond Delta's scope of control, but customer service is not. I had to wait in line at LAX for 8 hours to even get information on what had happened, and what solutions were available. The customer service call center was collapsed, and at the airport counters at one point there was ONLY ONE DELTA REPRESENTATIVE serving a line of more than 100 upset customers. This IS Delta's fault, and it is unacceptable. This definitely was under Delta's control, but in order to save a few dollars in overtime for emergency staff Delta was willing to let its customers make terribly long lines, miss their flights, their connections and consequently their commitments. It is disappointing to observe how Delta believes that a few dollars saved on extra staff and emergency measures can offset the irreparable long term damage to its business due to upset customers. My way back from Raleigh to Los Angeles was also a disaster. Without any type of explanation and nothing more than an email announcing the change, the nonstop flight I bought was replaced by a 1-stop flight with connection in Atlanta. This was NOT THE PRODUCT I PURCHASED. There is a reason I paid a premium for a nonstop flight, and Delta did not hesitate in providing me with a less valuable product without any explanation or refund. Delta prioritizes its operational metrics - an obsession to fill and overbook its capacity - over its customers' experience, one again under the foolish belief that short term savings in any way offset the long term damage of disappointed and alienated customers. I will NEVER FLY DELTA AGAIN. I will do whatever I can to transmit my experience to everyone I know. At a time where major airline carriers are in the spotlight due to abusive practices (i.e. the United passenger case), I still find hope in knowing that alternatives such as Southwest still put their customers first, over the ethereal benefits that a few-dollar savings in operational expenses can provide."
Cons: "Sat in Delta Comfort and a loyal Delta flier, except had the bad fortune of taking off at 830 ATL time and apparently Delta doesn't find it important or a good idea to sell food after that time. The logic behind this is beyond me. I'm willing to pay $9 for a few cheese slice and crackers or a sandwich yet they don't offer anything, not even to first class which would really irritate me had I paid 1000 bucks. Ontop of that the crew which is normally excellent, was feisty and rude and wanted nothing to do with their job"

Cons: "I did not like the way the plane was boarded- people could not get into their seats because others blocked the aisles - so chaotic. Passengers were not being rude to one another, it was simply that the process is poor. Could the zones instead reflect both location of seat and area of plane, so that those with window seats at the back board first, then middle seats, then aisle? That way if aisle seats fill first, seated people are not stepping back into the aisle to accommodate others needing to get a seat in that row, while everyone on the gang way must wait for the aisle to clear."

Cons: "Delta Flight #1494 On my return flight, I had to pay for a 2nd ticket to fly out early since Delta was cancelling flights to the south and I didn’t want to get stuck in Philadelphia. When the plane arrived for a layover in Atlanta, there was a flight going on from the first 2 people waiting to deplane. In my distraction and fear, I left my water bottle next to my seat. When I realized that I had left it, I went back to the gate and told the gate attendant that my bottle was next to my seat. She would not call down to the plane, nor walk down, and told me I had to wait until the entire flight had boarded. I explained that my connecting flight was boarding across the airport. The bottle was expensive and had great sentimental value. A couple times, I tried to ask people boarding the flight if they would tell a flight attendant to retrieve my bottle. The gate attendant told the boarding passenger to ignore me. When the flight had completely boarded, the gate attendant went down to the plane only to return to me to tell me that the flight attendant(s) allowed the cleaning crew to take the bottle. The gate attendant called the cleaning service and then she told me that the bottle was waiting at the tower and that I could ask at my next gate to have the bottle delivered to that gate. Since my connecting flight had already started boarding I had to run/train it across the airport to arrive at the gate. When I told the 2nd gate attendant, the story and asked him to call the tower to get my bottle, he told me that “wasn’t a thing” and that the 1st gate attendant lied to me. I had to board since they were getting ready to close the plane. This incident was compounded to many unpleasant experiences I’ve had with Delta over the past few years (losing my luggage and lying about it, damaging my suitcase, etc., etc.). I don’t understand how you can continue to be successful as an airline when you run your operation the way Delta does."

Cons: "I had a reserved Comfort Class Aisle seat, purchased at time of reservation and showing as my assigned seat through printing of boarding pass. At the gate, my seat was reassigned to a middle seat. This is a huge problem for me, as my back and leg injuries require the ability to stretch and move frequently. When complaining on Delta phone lines, I was told that the seat was needed for a Diamond member and therefore was "policy" to bump. Although I eventually received some compensation for the fact I paid more for the original seat, I remain very disappointed in Delta, if this is indeed the policy."

There was so much bad yesterday then good and I feel like delta should know. It's more and more bad everytime I fly! Please fix these problems!"

Cons: "Having a domestic leg of travel that includes ATL to LAX as part of your international travel plans is horrible with Delta Airlines. The rude gate employee decides to check my carry on piece to my destination. I explain that I have a14 hour connection and I need the small arty on piece for that flight. I was asked to talk to the other gate employee while they gave my seat away. It's horrible how rude and dismissive they were. I asked for compensation but they started to lie. Apparently I 'gave' up my seat. Once the shift manager started to help me, I thought things would've ok. It got worse. The Delta training took over. Both employees repeated the exact same words about me volunteering my seat so there's no compensation. It cost me a hotel night and 24 hours. I will avoid Delta at all costs... and I know it will be difficult since flying through ATL is pretty much alway Delta. But, it's too much. Lying, rude and dismissive employees at various levels of management. Horrible"

The gentleman was even talking on the phone while the flight attendant was going through the safety procedures. Later while landing an announcement came over that we were to return to our seats, close all tray tables, and seats ts in the upright position. At this point the gentleman sitting next to me leaned his seat backwards. The flight attendant passed by the gentleman at least three times and never said anything about his seat back. Evidently this flight attendant did not care to do his job properly."

Since the flight from DC was delayed for more than an hour we ended up missing our connection flight from Colombia to Lima, Peru. And from there everything went downhill. In Colombia they crew didn't know what was going to happen to us. After waiting over 3 hours they finally told us the found an early morning flight for us and that they were going to accommodate us in an hotel in Colombia for to spend the night. we waited until midnight for the transportation to the hotel and there were another 100 persons waiting to get transportation to the hotel as well and to check inn in the hotel. disaster."

With connecting flight of 1.5 hours which is scary for international flight that requires going through custom then recheck luggage and TSA line again. The saving grace is captain speed up place on first leg of international flight so arrived airport 1 hour early, thus allowing enough time to connect."
Cons: "I paid $150 extra for 2 exit row seats thinking we could use the extra room on the long flight. Unfortunately, the exit row space was cut off by and smaller than a normal row! Our legs were extremely cramped by the time we got to Rome. We had no overhead storage, which was already small, so we had to put our carry-ons multiple rows behind us -- which made exiting the plane a pain. There wasn't any personal entertainment systems, just one tv per section. The food was sub par. The crew was nice enough, but I'll NEVER take American Airlines internationally again."

I have had literally the worst airline experience of my life today with United airlines. With confirmation number BS2EL9, my flight was set to go from Atlanta to Burbank, with a connection in San Francisco. The flight from Atlanta was delayed about 10 minutes, however, they assured us that we would arrive in San Francisco at the correct time of 9:39 AM with enough time to get to our connecting flights. They lied. Whereas we did arrive in San Francisco at around 9:39 AM, the plane taxied for approximately 15 or more minutes before letting anyone off of the plane. Still, I ran to my connecting flight before it left the runway at 10:10am. However, I was not permitted to step onto the plane by the fellow at the gate at the time. He told me that because boarding time was over at 9:55a, he would not let me step on the plane even though it was still on the runway. I was upset. I went to customer service and explained my situation to them. Speaking with a girl named Krystin S., I explained that I really needed to get to Burbank on time, before 2 o'clock. Today, I had a final for school, a meeting, and interview with a job, and I had to drop my dog off at the vet for an appointment which costed around $150. Krystin told me that there was nothing she could do, and offered me only a meal voucher. I was offended, and declined the voucher. I then spoke to customer service and they told me there was nothing they could do after informing me that the flight that they switched my flight to was delayed yet another hour and I would not arrive until 350pm. This is absolutely unacceptable, and I need a remedy. Far larger than a simple meal voucher. I have lost more money by missing my flight to Burbank because of the Atlanta airport lying to me then the flight was even worth. Also, I requested to speak to someone, but the representative on the phone said they didn't have a phone number to speak to anyone which adds to the cumbersome nature of this issue. I was compensated for all this mess with a $10 food voucher, and had to get a cab from the airport to the closest and cheapest hotel. My flight to Brussels was uneventful, save one rude flight attendant, and I got to school a day late."

I was told there may be a lot of suitcases and it was better to check it. When on the plane, a stewardess came up to me and asked to see my boarding pass (which was scanned when I got onto the plane.) I gave it to her and she never returned it to me. I get an EMAIL while in Atlanta, saying my seat on the flight was canceled because I was a NO SHOW on the 27th to go down to Atlanta. I had the receipt of my seat upgrade, my receipt for the checked luggage, and the tag on the luggage. I called United who said I wasn't on the plane. After a long conversation, she said she fixed it. I get to the Atlanta airport on 10/31, and I was not in the system. I had to get a supervisor and they said my seat was gone and I may not be able to get back to NJ that day. After the agent called United Headquarters, they finally got me on the plane. I was told once again I should check my luggage and shelled out another $25. I then get to the gate, and the agent at the gate was asking for 10-20 people to check their luggage for FREE. That was it for me. I will not fly United again, and have already requested that my Executive Admin's not use United and use other airlines when they book business trips because I would hate for anyone to have to go through what I did. I am 44, have been flying since I was 5, and have never had anything like this happen and don't want it to happen to anyone else I know. I was disgusted by the whole situation."

US airways had to change my flight to using Delta airlines since that was the soonest upcoming flight and they never sent me the email promised with my new itinerary, my boarding pass didn't say my gate number but they verbally told me which one it will be. Come to find out, they gave me incorrect information and I had to run to the correct gate so I could be on time. Worst experience I ever had."

There was then a mechanical failure, a fuel pump that was faulty. This is not anyone's fault or at all controllable, but the way things were handled was ridiculous. There was 1 gate agent for 2.5 hours handling everyone who needed to re book. In my case I simply needed to cancel my flight (because I had already missed my meeting) and needed to get my bag brought up so I could go home. I was told I needed to wait in line. So I waited for 3 hours. Then waited another 1.5 hours for my bag to come up from bag check. The agents there were not all that helpful or concerned about my experience yesterday whatsoever. I will likely never fly united again and I travel a lot. I will also likely express my dislike for united to anyone I can going forward. In one flight, one experience, you lost this customer for good."

I paid $1200 dollars for two tickets that were suppose to fly us out to San Juan from Atlanta but a layover in New Jersey had to happen first. However the lay over ended up being 3 hours vs 1 hour and we missed a night in our hotel because of it. We landed in San Juan about 3 am and we took United flight from Atlanta at 3pm the afternoon before so we were beyond frustaited being that it was our Anniversary and all. So I will try not to fly United EVER AGAIN."
Flight was delayed by three hours. The workers at the gate were not honest with the expectations of the delay. Missing a flight crew for three hours is just not acceptable.
This flight got cancelled at 3am the morning of my 9am flight. Their site crashed while trying to rebook and it deleted my credit without booking the new flight. It took me more than a week to get confirmation of my refund. Spend the extra hundred bucks to fly American or delta or whatever.

Also got "hit up" for money by fellow passenger. Don't mind helping, but story was suspect. Anyway, I'm only going to use Spirit as a last resort in the future."

Setting traps for customers in fine print where it's our "fault" for neglecting to read every line so that when we arrive at the airport we have no choice but to pay ridiculous prices in order to proceed onto the flight. 3. Low availability of food/drink options from the menu announced at the start of the flight. My menu was heavily stained and sticky. 4. Poor air circulation made it difficult to breathe the whole flight. 5. Cramped cabin with loud passengers made for a disruptive and nauseating atmosphere. 6. Carnival-like harangue at the end of the flight about "discounts" lasted over 15 minutes, was way too loud on the speaker systems (I couldn't hear my friend speaking next to me), and insulted us personally for being stupid in paying the "full" prices. 7. I'm filing a complain with the FAA."
Cons: "At least 12 delay changes due to mechanical failure. Original departure was around 3pm on Sunday then it changed to 830pm, past midnight then 1 pm Monday. The gate staff was not trained to deal with customer service disputes. We were poorly informed about statuses. A food voucher was given to us minutes before any restaurant closed so I couldn't use it. I ended up booking another flight with another carrier. When the after midnight delay notification was rendered, I called the outsourced customer service and received no recourse for my inconvenience. Not even a comp checked bag. I was given two $50 vouchers but I don't plan to ever use them again. I'd rather have my refund plus the difference for the other flight and rental car I took just to get home. I also have lost wages."
Cons: "I had a prepaid direct flight from Atlanta to Minneapolis leaving at 10:40 a.m. Showed up at 10:05 & was told that I missed my flight. I said "but my flight doesn't leave until 10:40." They said: "yes, but your check-in time is 45 minutes before the plane departs". I said: "but no one told me this." They said: "It's on our website." That's terrible customer service in my book & a con on unsuspecting consumers. There should be a class action lawsuit on disclosures like that. Another couple ahead of me in line had the exact same thing happen to them! I booked another flight on Southwest Airlines without incident but have apparently lost my prepaid fare to fly on Spirit Airliner. They offered to fly me out the next day for a $99 rebooking fee but that cost almost as much as flying Southwest plus I would have to book a hotel or wait overnight. Terrible experience. Never again."

We then were assured that we would make it on the next flights. The next flight assured us we'd make it to the connecting flight, but they boarded so poorly that we arrived super late and missed the next flght. The flight was still there, but they wouldn't let us on and wouldn't tell us why. Around 7pm we finally got to speak to people who explained our options for accommodations and rescheduled us for the next day."

I got the notice of the gate change when I got home to Baltimore. And things are just too expensive. Even though I checked my bags and paid online, I still paid $40. Too expensive. And you pay for every little thing. I would fly Spirit again, but likely not my first choice."

It appeared like we were bothering them when we stepped up to the counter. She even seemed like she was trying to pick a fight! She said to the young man, "Did you call them up here?" And was about to go off. I believe that is the worst experience I have ever had at an airport to be waited on. This was the 1st time we had flown Spirit Air....and when we walked away we thought it might be the last time but the other folks we encountered were much more customer service oriented. Not sure if we will try again or not to be honest."
Cons: "The ticket appears nice and cheap. but it isnt. they charge you 55 dollars for a checked bag, another 55 dollars for a CARRY ON bag, AND their weight limit is 40 LBS instead of 50LBS, so if you have a normal checked bag it's actually going to be almost 100 dollars. If they could have I am sure they would have charged me 25 dollars for a seat-belt and charged me 10 dollars for using the airplanes bathroom. They are the epitome of money grubbing cheapskates. this is not to mention the seats being at least 4 inches closer together than any other plane I have ever been on. crammed in their like sardines. Spirit airlines is a complete pile of $hit and I will never be flying with them again."
Cons: "We checked in at the kiosk and then got in the baggage drop line and it was an hour long. Fortunately we were two hours ahead of schedule so we made our flight no problem. The poor couple in front of us missed their flight and was told that it was their fault by the front desk. The front desk person said that they had called for their flight and they should've responded. I can tell you that no one ever mentioned any flight. It wasn't like the line was to check in, it was only to drop the bags and it took forever. Very poor service and I feel so sorry for the people that we're headed to Texas and Missed their 7 o'clock flight. I find it also misadvertisement that we paid $49 for the flight one way and then had to pay $55 for the carry-on. Really the flight was for $104. Next time I will check for all and any options instead of Spirit and be willing to pay more money To go with another airline."

Cons: "Seats were extremely uncomfortable for someone with long legs. Spirit does not offer complimentary beverages during the flight. In fact, there are tons of hidden fees and charges that makes this "budget" airline more expensive than the competition. For example, a checked bag for my flight cost $55 each way! They charge even more money for gate-checked bags, which are sometimes necessary if the plane runs out of room. Lastly, it took an eternity for them to unload the luggage from the plane. I waited in the airport for over an hour both times. All that is bad, but to top it off, my flight was delayed and this somehow caused massive confusion at the Atlanta airport. The gate attendant said it was delayed, but the airport monitors said the flight had already left! Some passengers (but not everyone) got an email saying that the plane would not land for 9 hours after it was scheduled, even though the delay was only for 2 hours. I have no idea what went wrong, but it was very confusing and stressful. In all, Spirit airlines is only inexpensive if you have no luggage and you don't want any food, beverage, or entertainment during the flight."

AAAnnndnNNNd it was CHEAPER than it would have been if I had continued to pay for a FRECKIN' CARRY ON EACH WAY with Spirit. After reading all the negative reviews on line... AFTER ...I bought my ticket, I decided it was worth the money to buy another ticket on a different airline and NOT have the hassles I experienced trying to pay for ONE carry on All caps.. YEAH .. I'm PRETTY PISSED. Lesson learned and it cost a pretty penny, but I'm getting my moneys worth here and now. Save you money and fly with someone else.. It'll be cheaper in the long run and I won't possibly "stroke out" with frustration trying to make arrangements."
Pros: "The pilots were very good. Smooth flight and I felt comfortable with their professionalism. I also liked the reserved seats. There didn't seem to be a big RUSH with everybody trying to get front seating. Boarding went well. Also, the fact you pay for everything you bring (except one personal item) travelers were not taking advantage of too many carry-ons, which also speeded up the boarding process."
Cons: "Overall the employee moral was very negative. When people travel they expect to be greeted with a friendly smile and a few nice words. I had two flights with Spirit and I was disappointed with the overall employee moral and lack of team spirit / enthusiasm. It made me wonder how they would react if there was an on-flight emergency. And even though the tickets were the lowest fare available, after paying to reserve my seat and for my carry-on bag, the price was the same as several other airlines. Lastly, there was no complimentary drinks or snacks."
Pros: "That I arrived to my destination in time and as scheduled."
Cons: "There was no indication anywhere in the reservation process of the costs of bag checks and the "privilege" of a carry on. I was also never sent an email prompting me to check in online and check bags there. (I'm told it's rather cheap if you do it that way) Instead, I was greeted with a 49 dollar fee for my carry on, and 53 dollar fee for my checked bag. That was bumped up another 30 dollars when I discovered bags above 45 lbs are charged extra on spirit. I ended spending more than twice the value of my ticket just for bags, for markups I was never told of and could not of reasonably anticipated as a consumer. This, combined with less than professional conduct from spirit flight attendants, fellow passengers, and the ridiculously uncomfortable conditions on the plane, means I will never be flying with spirit again, and will trust kayak much less. As a comprehensive trip planning service, kayak should be able to generate plane travel costs, and have options to include associated costs such as baggage, with the price of the ticket in flight price tracking. This is a necessary feature for any company that provides a service like Kayak."
Pros: "Loved the flight attendants. Very helpful and grateful they were willing to help me relocate to another seat forward of the rear."
Cons: "When I went online to purchase a seat the only one showing available was 28E at the far back of the plane. When I entered the random choice the assignment was 26C.... why was this one not shown??? And why couldn't I purchase a seat forward of the rear??? This flight was half empty. Thankfully the attendant moved me up to Row 11 which was totally empty. I do NOT like sitting in the back of the plane and that is why I try to purchase a seat over or forward of the wing. NOT a happy camper over this."
Pros: "I guess I don't like anything that spirit has - except for the price which I finally disliked"
Cons: "I have my flight at 9.30 AM and I was at the airport by 8.30 AM. I had to find out where the check in counter is and I was at the check in counter at 8.40. By the time my turn came, it was 8.50 and the agent said I am late as the gate closes 8.45 AM. There is no mention in the itinerary that the gate closes 30 minutes before departure and I was there 45 minutes before the take off. I didn't get a next flight. Now, I can't even cancel the return flight and I lost all the money for the trip. I called the customer service and they said they cant do anything except to book another ticket the next day. Why do they think I would ever travel with them again!!"
Cons: "Online check-in did not work, app check-in did not work, kiosk check-in did not work. Despite efforts to save money, I was forced to pay over $110 in additional fees. Service counter attendants were not friendly. I asked if I could fly standby on an earlier flight since I had gotten to the airport 4 hours early. I was told "This is not Southwest, you can't get on an earlier plane without paying $120 for it". Flight was changed to a new gate but wasn't updated on the monitor. I had to check flight aware to see what gate we were at. Flight attendants were rude and boasted about being the youngest flight crew in the sky, which is nothing to boast about. There are many veterans of the sky that exhibit amazing customer service and flight expertise. This Moto degrades those who have spent 20 + years in the sky making sure we are safe and comfortable. I would rather have a former fighter pilot with combat experience flying my plane. So spirit airlines, do I think you being young is an advantage over the other airlines, No. I care about customer service and safety. And I have yet to feel that from your airline. From the check-in counter to the flight attendants, the staff treats customers without respect and then charges you for it. I'm done."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed 3 hours for mechanical issues. The staff at the gate was the unprofessional...rude, sarcastic and just plain miserable. I even witnessed a shouting match between the gate crew and a customer who walked up to ask what the new time for take off was...She answered his question by stating, "the same time I said 5 minutes ago." The male passenger didn't hear the announcement (because she talked so fast). He kept asking and she kept repeating her snarky response about "the time time I just told you" until it became heated. Absolutely ridiculous. Not much improved when we made it on the aircraft. It felt like it was a shell of what a "finished" aircraft should look like. All in all a pitiful experience. I hate that I already purchased my return flight with Spirit. Saving $50 was NOT WORTH IT!!!!!"
Cons: "I fly a lot. I took spirit because of the great deal I got, but will never fly them again no matter what. I will pay more for a flight because of the poor customer service. My flight was cancelled after being delayed after 10 mins. This is was about my 10th time flying the airlines, I was trying to give them a chance, and every time have had serious problems. I work customer service and understand how annoying these message are and realize there will probably be nothing done about how I feel and the poor service I received, but really this was a horrible experience. Lucky I am savy at finding new flights. I stood in line to change mine while on the phone with spirit and lucky cancelled the flight with spirit. I had to rebook with a different airlines. The difference between the flight was $240. My husband rebooked it for me while I was on the phone with spirit. Never again will I fly this airlines, no matter what I do!"
Pros: "The flight crew on the plane were very professional."
Cons: "The flight was delayed 5+ hours. The staff in the gate at the Atlanta airport were not trained well in how to handle situations like this. It took a very angry, frustrated group of customers venting to get them to try to get better updates than just reciting the time delay. We were to have left at 5:35, essentially dinner time. They didn't offer food vouchers or coffee/water, nothing until their PAYING CUSTOMERS became irate at the lack of information. After 3+ hours, they finally had people wait in line and they handed out 14.00 food vouchers, which was a pathetic response to the issue."
Pros: "Both flights boarded fast and left on time or early. I liked that I got everything I would normally get with a Delta flight for a lot less money. Sure they charge for drinks but I'd rather pay $3.50 for a coke than pay $150 to get it free on Delta. Seats were snug but so are Delta and American seats on most flights so I'm used to that and it was comfortable. And very cheap to upgrade to exit aisle or business class if more room is needed - which I did on the flight home because I had to work on my laptop. Staff was GREAT!"
Cons: "Tray tables are very small. Not enough room to work on laptop unless you upgrade to business class or exit aisle. Little armrest room so be prepared to rub arms with your neighbors. Don't make us listen to ads for your credit card promo. Hate when airlines do that because we are paying to be there and shouldn't be subjected to ads we can't get away from."
Cons: "We had the unfortunate experience of dealing Spirit Airlines yesterday at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, August 13th, on the way to Boston for a wedding. We were asked to check in at the kiosk, which we did. And after spending $412.36 on airline tickets in July, we had to pay $55 for one carry-on bag. After completing the transaction, we were notified that our boarding passes could not be printed and head to the desk. After speaking with their customer representative, "James", we were told the flight was closed and there was nothing he could do. He said the flights are non-refundable and we should have arrived sooner, although our receipt clearly shows we were there ahead of their 45 minute mark. We asked him for our $55 dollars back for the baggage and he said he'll need to get his supervisor. This is when "Carmen" the supervisor came to the station. Their names are in quotations because both employees refused to turn their badges over to show their names, which seems very shady at a security-centered facility like a main international hub airport. (I took photographs of both employees) She said she can not give us a refund and rudely pointed to our receipt to mention all baggage fees are non-refundable. We asked her why would Spirit even charge us a baggage fee for a flight they were not going to let us get on and she said she didn't know, but she can't help us. Neither employee offered any assistance to get us on another flight. We have contacted Spirit Airlines with the receipts showing the time and photographs of the employees, but I think this issue requires further assistance after reading multiple stories online dealing with this same airline. The fact that they are allowed to charge us for bags the day of, then not refund the money, while taking our flight fees, seems illegal. I urge you to take a look into their business practices. They have cost my family hundreds of dollars, with regards to hotel and rental car cancellations, lost traveling fees, time off work, and the main displeasure of missing a wedding!"
Pros: "I LOVE the smooth ride of the flight. No turbulence"
Cons: "I was not informed by text the flight was delayed. 3 hours. ILearn Once I arrived before 5:30 p.m. . The flight is delayed until 9:03 p.m. . They kept telling the passengers. It was a severe storm in Philadelphia... I have several other workers stated we were bumped. Because of a mechanical problem with another plane. I check back with family in the Philadelphia area. It did not storm nor rain. So spirit customer service told untruths. As per company overhead. The aircraft was extremely crowded. Crying babies. Adults who did not take a bath. Overall disgusting for my first time ever flying with Sprint. What a lasting impression"
Pros: "Never fly this airline, they are horrible! I called several times about my flight because I knew I would be late trying to make the flight and they were rude. Customer Service is horrible. They cheat people out of their money smh. Terrible. I'm currently looking to sue!! Don't fly with them. No matter how cheap it is. Fly with Aleigant or Frontier first. Least they won't just keep your ticket money if you miss a flight they will make amends. SPIRIT is tacky, classless, and just overall a terrible airline. They need to be out of business. Seriously. Cons: "Flight was delayed for so long, that when we factor in the time that it toke to wait plus the two hours that I had to show up in advance plus the 45 minutes that I had to wait for my luggage, it would have been more convenient to drive From ATL To Tampa, The reason given was that there was no crew to flight the Plane, I missed the meeting I was supposed to be attending, so, I ended up just flying to Tampa For the pleasure that it is to fly in Spirit where they nickle and dime you for every single thing even if your flight is delayed for the same length of time it would take you to drive to your destination."
Pros: "The plane from Atlanta to LAX was new and comfortable. We met 2 friendly crew members in Atlanta at the gate that helped us because James at the check in counter was rude obnoxious and not helpful."
Cons: "Your website is the worst airline website I've experienced and I travel 5-6 times per year on other airlines. Somehow the baggage choices I made at booking did not register and you made sure I paid double at check in. You crew member James in Atlanta was rude and unhelpful. We couldn't understand what he was saying to us and when we asked him a question he was obviously annoyed that we spoke and let us know it. I manage a company with 90 employees in a sales enviroment and he would not work for me 10 minutes. Your business model is disingenuous at best and ends up being a rip-off. You advertise low rates on Kayak and other sites that say nothing about your baggage fees and extra charges. Only after the flight is booked do you find out about the extra, and may I say ridiculous, baggage charges. When the final bill is tallied any other airline would have been cheaper and the service would have been better. This was my first and LAST Spirit flight."

Cons: "Having to fly on Spirit, your crooked, deceitful, poor customer service ways. You are the bottom of the bottom! I can't believe that our government allows you to stay in business. Your planes are dirty, reeks of puke, and unsafe. It's only a matter of time before people start having health problems because of your dirty nasty planes and before the planes start falling out of the sky because of the old, poor maintained planes. Do us a favor and merge with another company who knows how to run an airline business like Southwest, American, Delta. Better yet, just SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!"
Cons: "They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING!!! Every literal thing is a charge and they feel as it's OK to do that. Why would they drop the maximum weight to 40 pounds for your checked bag and still charge you for your carry on bag? They lost a fee customers with this flight experience. Not only will I never fly again with spirit air a bunch of my family won't either. And they need to train their staff of customer service and being polite. Better yet they should do the people a justice and close down the airline all together"
Pros: "I'm sorry I can't think of something memorable to say I liked. The plane was somewhat newer and the stripped down seats weren't completely uncomfortable like we expected. This flight crew performing the pre-flight weren't annoyingly sassy and jaded as the ones on 1st leg of the trip."
Cons: "Out going flight we were charged $55 for 1st carry on bag besides personal carry-on. The return flight it was announced that that item had no additional fee. Who do I contact for refund? Extra fee ate any savings and we already packed light like hobos. Tray table was too small to support my reading material (5" by 12"). Just prior to landing there was some motor/hydraulic device that made a very loud annoying noise like a kazoo drowning out sound of fussy babies/children. The sound lasted about 15-20min; even 10min after landing. As an industrial mechanic, I know what those sounds can mean and it gave me the impression the plane wasn't in good mechanical shape. We didn't know that the low cost meant that all comfort and amenities would be cut too. Our experience will be a large factor in choosing airline for future travel."
Cons: "Everything else. The crew was unenthusiastic, unhelpful, and borderline rude; I was forced to return to my seat multiple times while waiting to enter the bathroom, although other passengers were allowed to move freely. The bathroom in the front of the aircraft was out of service. No complimentary snack or drink is offered; you must pay for the limited selection of snacks and beverages avaialable. Everything from the seats to the menus were tattered; the pouch in back of the seat in front of me has not been cleaned before the flight so to my surprise, I found garbage as I reached for my menu. There is no form of entertainment available; no radio, televisions, or wifi. Nothing about the flight was pleasant and if it had not been the only direct flight available for my destination at the time, I would not have chosen Spirit. This was my first and, hopefully, last time flying with Spirit, barring an extenuating circumstances. You get what you pay for and with Spirit, that's not much."
Pros: "The flight attendants salvaged the experience. I think weather delayed the flight, but the info provided before getting on the plane just made it seem like the pilots just weren't there. Couple that with discussion about how often Spirit is not on time a lot, led to a frustrating experience. Finish that off with boarding onto a plane that wasn't running, a/c was off and pilots still weren't there. Flight attendants jumped on it. Apologized for the inconvenience multiple times, kept everyone updated on efforts to get a/c started, passed out water, very friendly. Kudos also to the pilots who came in from Vegas and were supposed to be done for the day. They got on our plane and flew us to Tampa. I would guess that they didn't have to do that and if they had not, we may have been further delayed. I generally fly Delta. Had the on board experience not been what it was, I would be a one & done flyer with your airline. I will try you again based on the actions of those mentioned above."
Cons: "Gate personnel could have provided additional details and communicated better. It was just like, well we're delayed....sorry. Deal with it."
Pros: "There was a Hispanic gentlemen who told jokes over the intercom and was very nice to passengers"
Cons: "In general, the flight crew seemed jittery, restless, chattery. They seemed unaware that it was an early morning flight, and passengers might be trying to sleep. The lights were turned on halfway through the flight, which seemed inappropriate for those who wanted a quiet morning to sleep. I was in the last seat in the back, and the flight crew would keep shifting around their own luggage in a disruptive way, chatting at a higher volume than appropriate for sleeping passengers. And collecting trash every five minutes seems a bit much. Overall, the experience was the worst flight experience I ever had."
Cons: "Check in at Atlanta airport was a mess - there were several lines and it was not clear which line i should take to check in for my flight. Despite i arrived 2 hours before take off, I almost missed the flight."
Pros: "I like getting out of the airport and vowing to never fly Spirit again."
Cons: "Spirit's computer system had an "error" which marked me as a security risk. I had to go through intensive security screening TWICE. I was given a hand written ticket that was not honored at the gate stating their computer error has blocked me from flying. With this status I was unable to take my flight or rebook one. Luckily I got a full refund. Definately not worth the hassle and airport drama I will NEVER fly this airline again. I feel sorry for their employees who have to deal with such a shitty system."
Cons: "This is the ONLY airline I have ever used that did not check to see if any missing passengers were going through checkpoints. They left about 25 of us behind because we were stuck in TSA. The flight that left later to Detroit did the same thing to their passengers. The staff was incredibly rude, if they rolled their eyes more than they did they may have fallen out of their heads. They had the attitudes of spoiled teens that were working as punishment for something. The flight itself was alright, but even the attendants were unpleasant. I ended up stuck in the airport alone for seven hours, some people were told they had to wait until the next day! I've flown many times and this is the ONLY airline I have ever seen that did such a thing. I will NEVER use them again, nor will I recommend them."

Cons: "Nothing wowed me about this experience. The plane was nearly two hours late. Boarding was a frenzy with no real structure. Every comfort you wanted beyond the seat came with a price tag. Towards the end of the flight we were forced to sit through a sales pitch to get everyone sign up for the spirit air credit card. Attendants weren't necessarily rude, but also weren't as helpful or polite as I've come to expect from flying other airlines. On the whole, I felt more like I was part of a herd of cattle at 37,000 feet rather than an airline passenger with an itinerary."
Pros: "If you're interested in a quick flight- UNDER $300 almost ANYWHERE**, THIS is the airlines to fly.. It's simple, fast, and got to my destination with little to no hiccups*"
Cons: "Wow, the comments below are all similar.. Look, Prices should be announced as: (ex) Atl to Orlando $160+baggage.. <--- I've heard SO MANY complaints from passengers about baggage fees.. Look, If it's one of the only ways to get extra income, then a simple carryon fee for $25 should be attached accross the board* Even IF someone didn't have a carry on, the $25 should still be within the ticket- THAT WAY, you won't have disgruntled customers having to cough up an extra $50-100+ at the check-in.. AFTER they probably spent too much on their travel.. (Not saying only poor people take Spirit, but there IS a reason people fly with them.. Because it's supposed to be economical*"
Pros: "The flight I ended up taking was quick and actually left on time"
Cons: "I had a 6 am flight. At 5 am we were told that it would be delayed until 10:30. At 8 we were told it would be delayed until 11:30. At 11:20 they announce that our plane landed and just needed to unload and get cleaned and we could start boarding shortly. Two minutes claret we were told the flight was cancelled. They told us everyone would fit on the 3:49 flight that would arrive in Orlando at 4:10. By that time I was tired of waiting and just wanted to get to Orlando so I asked to get on the flight to Tampa that was leaving at 12:15. The airline wouldn't get me a flight that was with delta that would have leaf at 6:55. They only offered a seat on one of their later flights, a refund, or a $7 meal voucher. That meal voucher wasn't even enough to cover the cost of a bagel and coffee. Also when I purchased the ticket it didn't say anything about paying for a carry-on bag. When I got to the airport I found out I had to pay $55 to take my carry-on. This was my worst flight experience."
Cons: "Every Spirit flight at the airport was delayed at least an hour and a half--- most several hours. It was not due to weather, but needing maintenance on planes and new crews. All of which could have been planned out to keep schedule, but they just don't care about their customers. They never apologized, never said "hello" or "welcome," never said "goodbye" or "thanks for flying with us" or "have a good day." The seats are squished closer together than most planes, with the headrest in front of you being a couple inches away from your face. Seats do not recline. You can pay $25 extra to be in one of the very few rows that has a couple extra inches of legroom, though. No modern conveniences like tvs or power plugs or wifi. I paid $10 extra to board the plane earlier, in Zone 2 instead of Zone 3, in a desperate hope to find overhead luggage space (I've been burned before), and then during boarding they announced Zones 2 and 3 together! People paid money for that privilege to move up a group, but they made us all board at the same time that we would have without paying extra. With no refunds. Unacceptable. They nickel-and-dime you until the "cheap flight" now costs more than other airlines. I understand charging for the checked bag. I expect that nowadays. But they charged $55 for the CARRYON bag! And every single item they could give you on a cross-country flight cost money. Even WATER. You have to pay for water on a five hour flight!! They did really push the credit card applications, though, as if they were doing you a favor. The worst turbulence of my life I guess isn't the airlines fault... But it doesn't help the experience when people actually scream from fright. Then, once on the ground and glad to be alive, (again, no normal human/customer service pleasantries of any kind, just a "get off my plane right now" vibe from flight crew) we had to wait 45 minutes for our bags at Baggage Claim! 45 minutes!! I heard about 30 different passengers on my flight say loudly they will never fly with Spirit again, and I agree! I am definitely never flying with Spirit Airlines ever again!"
Cons: "Arrived and Checked in over 45 minutes prior to boarding time and were told our luggage could not be checked even though our checked bags were already paid for. Then our flight departed early from the terminal without notice causing us to miss our flight. Spirit employees working at the terminal refused to help us find a different flight and told us we would need to go to the check-in counter at the entrance of the airport to find a new flight. The next available flight to Chicago was the next day so we lost a whole day of our trip. The next day our flight left early again, but we were there in time. Unfortunately my checked luggage was lost. I will be avoiding Spirit airlines if at all possible in the future. The extra cost of other airline companies is well worth it."
Pros: "I can't say there was anything uniquely positive about flying with Spirit air, other than the cost of the fare."
Cons: "They hustle for money every time you turn. You have to pay for your carryon. Pay to to print your ticket. Pay for any seat other than randomly assigned - so the money trap is a pain. But on top of that the plane was an air version of a Greyhound bus in the 80's. The seat I sat in had a hard bar sticking through the cushion and digging into my back the whole time. Not just irritating but outright painful. Because seating is random, there was a woman with a 2 year old lap child squeezed in between me and a 300+ lb man. The aircon wouldnt work on the tarmac, so by the time we hit the air we were covered in sweat, baby was crying, really jus ta total mess. Good luck getting a single cup of water from a flight attendant. I don't know how this business expects any repeats, but I will pay hundreds more to avoid the hell of Spirit Air any day."
Cons: "The airline continued to delay the evening flight all day. I called and asked if the airline could accommodate me on another flight to get me to my destination but said they couldn't. They only offered to refund my money and offered it very quickly as if this happens often. After delaying the flight all the way until midnight I arrived at the airport to check in and once again see if spirit could move me to a different flight or airline. The lady at the counter laughed at me and proceeded to tell me no. The flight ended up getting canceled and the next flight I could be moved to was over 24 hours later. Needless to say I ended up taking my money back and will not be using the gracious $50 credit the airline offered me. After checking the other flight that left later the weekend it was plagued with massive delays also. Not sure how this airline stays in business."
Cons: "My flight was scheduled to leave at 5:35 it was delayed till 7:09. We did not get any notice till 8:00 that we were boarding at a different gate. We then boarded the plan and sat at the gave till 9:45 and then was told the flight was cancelled. I missed a very important job that was to provide for my family and had to call someone to drive back to Atlanta at midnight to give me a ride back to Northeast Georgia and never got to take the flight. The customer service people were rude and unconcerned about the passengers and did not seem in the least sorry for our inconvenience of being there a minimum of 6 hours and no flight! I will NEVER fly Spirit again!"
Cons: "While the plane we needed was on time, it sat parked in the runway while we waited for another plane (to Detroit) to board and leave the gate. That plane to Detroit sat at the gate for over two hours. Finally, the pilots for the Detroit flight timed out so the plane de-boarded. Our plane was then pulled up and the began cleaning and getting the plane ready. 30 minutes later they informed us that our pilots had timed out and that the flight was cancelled. During the entire course of 3+ hours, we were never once informed what was going on. Getting refunds took over two hours. At the end of the process it was 2 a.m. in an ice/snowy Atlanta with no prospects for hotels."
