KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from Jacksonville to Richmond

  • Looking for a cheap flight? 25% of our users found flights on this route for $188 or less round-trip.
  • To reach Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) from downtown, the most convenient option is to use the JTA Skyway, a fully automated monorail system that connects downtown Jacksonville to the airport. Jacksonville International Airport is only 14 miles away, and the Line 1 bus takes approximately one hour to reach the airport from downtown. The bus service runs hourly every day from 5:30 am to 11:30 pm.
  • An alternative airport to consider flying out of instead of Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is Orlando International Airport (MCO). MCO is larger and offers a wider range of flights and airline options to fly to Richmond. Therefore, there is generally a higher likelihood of more frequent flights and potentially better deals.
  • We recommend JetBlue for a flight with kids. Families have the advantage of being able to select seat assignments at the time of booking. This allows parents to ensure that they are seated together with their children. Moreover, JetBlue has a generous child equipment policy since you can bring one stroller and one car seat on board for free.
  • Book an airline with a lounge at JAX for a comfortable and relaxing environment away from the crowded terminal, allowing passengers to unwind before their flight. The Delta Sky Club at JAX airport, for example, boasts a variety of food and beverage options, including alcoholic beverages.
  • Book a flight with a layover and reduce the risk of delays and cancellations, as you can reroute in case of disruptions. Delta has a layover at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL), while American Airlines has a layover at Charlotte Douglas (CLT), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), or Miami (MIA). For a stop at Washington, D.C. Dulles Intl (IAD), consider United Airlines.

Our flight was delayed 7 hours. Due to a change in equipment we were downgraded from "Nicest" to "Nicer," even having to pay for a soft drink. Disappointing. To Breeze's credit that issued a $100 flight credit. A refund would have been more appreciated.

Lost my luggage and terrible experience with customer service trying to track it down

10 hour delay with minimal updates. Couldn’t leave terminal and then ended up on redeye with a dirty broken plane. It is literally impossible to reach customer service via gate agent, app, phone, text or email.

I thought that I had pre-purchased carry-on luggage and was surprised when I tried to check in that I did not have it.

Flight departure was 90 min delayed, and the boarding experience was confused, stressful, and generally poor. Additionally, the wifi on the plane was malfunctioning for all but the final 15 min of the flight into ILM.

Great experience and In love flying in and out of Provo airport

You get what you pay for. It’s like a bus but flying. No frills, no snacks. Leg room was fine, boarding was good.

Overall good. Plenty of legroom and fairly comfortable seats. No issues with capacity and the overhead been even though most people brought several carry-ons on. I don’t think Breeze really enforces the pay for a carry-on rule.

Surprised at how much I enjoyed Breeze. Paid for the Nicer upgrade which made it closer in price to a flag ship carrier but with more comfortable seats and much more leg room. Crew was polite and since we brought our food no loss there. Would make the point that the ‘have to pay for a carry-on is BS’. Most people did not and had several. Still was plenty of room in the overheads.

Comfortable seating, adequate space available, nice to have USB port, polite crew.

Southwest continues to do less for more money. Flight attendants used to be fun and friendly. But now it’s like they don’t even see you. Such a shame.

I liked it better when you were truer to your roots Am paying more for less fun

I was supposed to be on a later flight. When I showed up at the gate, the woman working there was extremely helpful getting moved up to this earlier flight.

Long layover between flights to Long Island from BWI - need better coordination between flights

I realize they are still working out kinks with the new boarding process, but by the time I boarded in group 5, most of the bins were full. All airlines should better enforce small bags and jackets going under the seats until everyone has boarded.

An entire day of delays. Cost lots of money. Meals and a hotel.

I appreciate the staff who allowed me to board though I arrived a little late! Regarding the assigned seating, I had booked my flight before this change and wasn't aware of the change at the time, and so I didn't select a seat at booking as I didn't realize it was relevant. Better communication about the change would have been helpful for preparing.

WIFI was great. My selection for seating is an aisle, but during my trip, I never had an aisle seat. If we can get that corrected, I will be thrilled. No snack or drink on this flight.

Departure was delayed more than 1/2 hour while we waited for luggage (only) transfer from another flight/plane. Once approved for takeoff, the flight was excellent.

Flight was on time. Wi-fi was a little spotty/slow. Boarding and exit were efficient.

Too many people are taking up space in the overhead bins with their extra piece of luggage. Since they cannot fit their backpacks or extra luggage piece under the seat in front of them, they store it in the overheads and thus taking up room for other passengers. It wasn’t only one or two persons; more like 12 or 13 passengers.

Kayak botched up the booking, i had to call delta and fix. In the process Delta failed to honor my comfort plus seat assignment that i had previously.

Perhaps when you’re sitting in 1st class and the crew closes the bathroom for the pilots, there could be a notification other than holding your hands up as a blockade when you get there and you’re told the restrooms are closed please turn around … especially at night when visibility is poor and you’re met by a flight attendants with their arms up

Loved flying First Class. Very comfortable. The seat was amazing. Enjoyed a movie and was able to relax so much better than in coach.

We landed and sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes because they only have one gate at the airport and there was another plane running late so we had to wait

An awesome flight crew. FC seat cushion just doesn’t cut it for a 3+ hour flight.

Never got on it. Was re-routed through Detroit and am still in airports 12 hours later waiting for my connecting plane to arrive.

Delta continues to set the benchmark for traveler-friendly service with minimal disruption and clear communication within the mainland US (coast to coast). I am consistently pleased to be a Delta customer, and this experience once again met my expectations. There was a brief delay departing from MIA due to a technical issue that required the aircraft to return to the gate. However, the situation was handled professionally and transparently. Fortunately, my planned layover allowed ample buffer time, so the adjustment caused no stress. Overall, another smooth and reassuring experience.

Flight was delayed and no reasons provided. After the passengers were boarded, the crew made announcement that the captain has jot arrived and he would take another 15 mins. All passengers patiently sat until the captain came and started. Terrible experience!

Totally worth the miles to upgrade to Delta Comfort. Plenty of legroom.

The flight attendant in business class was excellent! Professional, friendly and attentive.

A first class seat should fit a fat person, and this doesn't. The trays in the armrest are less functional than an ordinary tray in the back of the seat.

It was great. Smooth flight, comfortable, left on time and landed on time.

Really good. I accidentally left my duffel on the plane and the reps were so friendly in retrieving it.

After changing the departure gate 5 times making us mo e from one side of the airport to the other and then back the flight was delayed nearly 2 hours. The male flight attendant had a bad attitude with the guest being condescending, disrespectful with people who were already on edge.

There was no beverage service and the only time I saw a crew member walk through the cabin is when we were preparing to land.

Flights were constantly delayed. CRW took 50 minutes to get bags

Where do I start!! I was delayed with my flight from Dallas to Tampa. On the way back from Tampa to Dallas the flight was delayed over 4 hours+. I was put on another flight that was also delayed but not as long. Traveling on American Airlines is becoming exhausing.

I didn't end up taking this flight. I got up at 4am for a flight that was supposed to board at 6am - at 5:55am you delayed the flight to 10am. The airport is under construction so I switched to a later flight as I wasn't going to sit in the airport for 4 hours. They said the delay was due to the crew needing rest from a flight coming in late the night before - if that was the case then I think you should have delayed the flight much sooner so that passengers wouldn't get up so early and get to the airport to sit and wait.

The flight attendants and the service is getting worse by the day.
