Pack healthy snacks. When a 2 hour flight turns into over 7 hours, mini servings of pretzels or cookies doesn’t cut it.
JenniferFlew with Delta-Jul 2026
Don't expect drinks or snacks on shorter flights bring your own. Expect delays it is very common on delta
SheilaFlew with Delta-Mar 2026
Very friendly staff. Be prepared to take the tram on this huge airport
Dr. JosephFlew with United Airlines-Apr 2026
Always keep track of the weather at both locations and where the inbound flight is coming from.
Verified travelerFlew with United Airlines-Apr 2026
Make sure the flight you select has more than 3 hours as time allotted for transiting to another flight. Most of United Airlines flights get delayed and if you don’t have enough time, you’ll be missing the next flight for sure. Have extra budget for shelter expenses because most of the economy tickets does not qualify for shelter accommodation/ voucher when your flight is delayed.
HollyFlew with Delta-Mar 2026
Run in Atlanta because if your flight is too close together in time you will not make it.
Verified travelerFlew with Spirit Airlines-Dec 2025
Atlanta airport is big so I was advised to give myself slightly more time to get through as you need to use an air train to get to the gate
LaToyaFlew with American Airlines-Feb 2026
Get Pre-Check to be able to get through Hartsfield-Jackson’s checkpoint quickly.
LaveniaFlew with Alaska Airlines-Dec 2025
Pre-order your food. Make sure to bring your OWN device and be prepared to pay for WiFi to access entertainment for this long flight.
Verified travelerFlew with Etihad Airways-Dec 2025
Buy plenty of bags ahead of time. Airline companies can legally charge what ever they want for extra bags regardless of size and weight.
Verified travelerFlew with Spirit Airlines-Jan 2026
Check in baggage and picking seat will be added to your total flight cost
Verified travelerFlew with Spirit Airlines-Jan 2026
Take an inflatable seat cushion, as the seats are uncomfortable, and take a patience pill as the staff are rude and mean.
Verified travelerFlew with Delta-Nov 2025
Airlines with best boarding, comfort, baggage policies: American, United & Delta. Airlines with best schedule to/from Miami: American & Delta (but definitely can improve this). Most convenient airports: Getting on/off -Miami and any major US Airport with multiple lanes to go in and out (definitely not Atlanta as everyone is arriving & leaving go thru ONLY one entrance filled with parking lot style traffic) and I say this because I have lived in both cities (many years in Miami and now 2 years in Atlanta but travel a lot from here). Atlanta has only 2 entrances: either Delta (south side) or any other airline (north side). Either way you go, you will have bumper to bumper traffic just to go in. Also, don't get me started with their parking lots - what a horrendous experience to park and worse when you leave! No signs in the North side (and barely any in South side) to indicate the exit.
MelodiiFlew with Frontier-Mar 2025
Ask your carrier what their boarding policies are. You may not be permitted on your flight when you arrive at the airport.
Verified travelerFlew with Korean Air-Apr 2025
Bring something for your bottom. It’s a really long flight and your bottom is going to get sore.
Kent ThienFlew with Korean Air-Feb 2025
Try to check in online to avoid the lines
Verified travelerFlew with Delta-Jan 2025
Atlanta is a buay airport, plan to arrive early!
TonyFlew with Alaska Airlines-Dec 2024
Pack snacks or a good sandwich. Download your movies before you fly to avoid another FINE/FEE for internet charges. Pack light to avoid luggage fines/fees for check in baggage Don't pick a seat to avoid fines/fees
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska Airlines-Dec 2024
Be at the airport atleast 4 hours before the flight. TSA PRE CHECKS SUCKS AT ATLANTA AIRPORT
JubyFlew with Southwest-Oct 2024
Get to the airport early enough to relax and enjoy the good grub found in the airport
DimitriosFlew with Delta-Nov 2024
ATL can be a bit hard to navigate at security checkpoints depending on what options you have (TSA-pre, TSA-pre plus CLEAR, mobile ID, etc). All these options are good to accelerate security clearance but you might need help from staff at the Airport to locate the right place to go.
AvaFlew with WestJet-Sep 2024
If you think you’ll be hungry, bring food on board or eat before boarding. Don’t pay extra for a premium seat unless you want to sit toward the front of the plane. The seats are not different from one section to another. The bathroom smelled and was tight.
DONALDFlew with Southwest-Sep 2024
None for this leg. But it seems the earlier the better for seating. The flight is usually not filled to capacity, so you can usually get an aisle or window seat fairly easy.
Jean-LouisFlew with Lufthansa-Oct 2024
If flying business class look for seats towards the front of aircraft. Sleeper seats are comfortable but nothing like Deltas current Business Class configuration.
EphusboubotzFlew with Alaska Airlines-Nov 2024
Alaska will close the door early so don't be late. Our flight time was 6:40 and the doors closed at 6:25.
DanaFlew with United Airlines-Nov 2024
Bring your own headset if you want to plug into the in chair TV. They don’t have any to pass out.
Verified travelerFlew with American Airlines-Aug 2024
The airport is relatively small and easy to navigate.
Verified travelerFlew with Spirit Airlines-Jun 2024
Always get to the airport 2-3 hours early. TSA is always a long slow process
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jul 2024
Its a long flight so if you want snacks bring you own.
Verified travelerFlew with Air Canada-Mar 2024
You should be in International Terminal F, from this easy get to your gate. Enjoy your flight.
ChrisFlew with Delta-May 2024
Be prepared; they’ll usually check your carry on for free at the gate.
Verified travelerFlew with Korean Air-May 2024
As I have two connections international flight. Whether the check luggage goes to the final destination automatically, and how many free check luggages need to advice clearly while booking. Since the two code sharing air flight companies provided different information which was very confusion.
AndresFlew with Delta-Dec 2023
The Atlanta Airport is enormous! Give yourself enough time to walk around to grab food and to get to your gate.
HollyFlew with Southwest-Feb 2024
Be early so it’s not stressful. Just grab a mimosa and relax
Verified travelerFlew with Delta-Jan 2024
Ride with full belly and the bare minimum. Also I did not know a fanny pack that is staying on my hip was considered a carry on
Verified travelerFlew with Qatar Airways-Jan 2024
Have 3 hours of extra time- as Qatar does 3 times security checks before flight time.

The morning calzone was less than impressive and we ended up with heartburn

It was good delayed again but once on board the flight crew were very good the entertainment and wifi worked on this plane and we were offered snacks and drinks

The second half of terminal C at Hartsfield was 80 something degrees. I was sweating just sitting at the gate.

Seat was too small for someone as tall as I am. I was behind an exit row making my leg room even less. There flights were delayed by multiple hours. Some weather related and others staff related. The plane was hot. Horrible experience.

Flight was delayed and then "they did not have time to load food". No snack or drink at all for 1.5 how flight. Somebody wasn't prepared.

Friendly flight attendant Quick checking for baggage drop Quick TSA lines

It was okay. We were delayed for weather reasons, but the pilots and the flight control staff figured a way around the storm and were able to get us to Los Angeles safely. Not all the staff members were polite, but the entertainment on the flight was good.

So terrible. My flight was 4 hours delayed and we weren't notified til last second within an hour of boarding. WE had to sit on the plane for 4 hours. ridiculous.

Missed the Flight from Atlanta to Roanoke due to initial flight from Houston being 2hr. late. Now waiting 17hrs. till my first available flight.

Internet didn’t work for this leg either. The seat was fine but didn’t have seatback screen, which I knew when I booked it. The biggest letdown is Deltas new policy on beverage/snack service not being served for flights less than 350 miles. I know this is a cost cutting measure, but how much does it really cost to give a drink and a snack for inflated airfare? I really am surprised that with Delta Comfort they don’t provide beverage/snack service given these seats cost extra to purchase. Really need to reconsider this, even if it’s for the Delta Comfort and above.
