Pros: Nothing.Cons: Alamo cancelled my reservation. I received a voice message on my phone when I was making my connection at O'Hare. When I arrived at Richmond they did nothing to help. I called the Alamo Customer Service number - would be on hold waiting for over 20 minutes each time I called. The only way you could get someone to answer a call was to choose the "Make a Reservation" option. Appears like the only time they would answer the phone is when they think they were going to get money. I had 4 different times when someone said they would call me back with some information. No one ever called me back. The manager at the Richmond Alamo counter provided me with no options. I had to press them to get information about being compensated for my Uber charges. I tried to get a car the next day and they still didn't have any available. With today's technology there is no excuses on why they could not have contingency plans in place to ensure they have enough cars based on the number of reservations they have booked. I will never rent another car from Alamo or Enterprise again. In Richmond they had 15 to 20 SUV's in the garage, when I asked about them then said that they were reserved. If my reservations got cancelled because I booked through Kayak and had a lower rate I will need to rethink about using Kayak. Having no car for the 3 days made it very difficult doing business and also on my client you had to chauffer me around the entire time. Alamo definitely demonstrated to me that they don't care about my business.

Pros: The experience was the worst I've ever had. There was no attendant at the Thrifty counter. There was a sign that said go to the Thrifty attendant in the parking garage. There was no attendant there, either, and a sign that said go to the Hertz counter. There were 10 people in front of me in line and I waited 45 minutes in line, making me late for my appointment. The attendant didn't have any envelopes for my sales contract and because he talked to a person in front of me about video games for several minutes caused the wait to be linger than it should have. The entire experience was a fail and in 25 years of renting vehicles this is the first time I've ever complained.

We get to the garage and there’s another sign that said to go to the lower level but no one was downstairs. An agent from another rental service said go to Hertz, the parent company. They had my name but not my info or payment. We stood there for another 30 minutes. In the end, I had to complete paperwork by hand. It took about an hour to get a car. Cons: The car tire was unsafe. The tire leaked air overnight and was completely flat when I saw it in the morning. Thank goodness it did not blow out while I was driving. I called their Roadside Service but was on the phone waiting for a veeeerrrryy long time. I tried to change the tire myself but the lugnuts were on too tight. I had to ask a gentleman for help. So did not end up using the Roadside Service (which I likely would have been charged for). Avis charged me $200 for a new tire and did not inform me before doing this. There was absolutely no damage to the tire rim or car, I was not in any accident. I will write to Avis and complain and request the $200 back. Luckily, I HAVE PHOTOS and VIDEO of everything, which is what any car renter should be doing to record their experience.
