Cons: "Our total flight time was about 17 hours - MAD- AMS-LAX. My husband and I both have an internationally approved carry on luggages with us. When we checked in - they asked us to both check in our carry on luggage. The reason why is because they said they don’t think they have enough space for our carry ons. I told the crew member checking us in that other people that was checking in with the same hand carry size luggage with us had no problems taking it with them. For being about to be on a 17 HOUR FLIGHT we should be ALLOWED to have our carry ons with us! We take carry ons for that reason! I had to argue and prove my case to the crew member to atleast keep 1 carry on with us. I thought that was an UNACCEPTABLE reason for us to check in a carry on luggage when we had a 17 hour travel time ahead of us. Not a happy costumer here."

We then had to wait and see if there were seats available when boarding. Luckily, there were, but we were not sat together. Not the greatest start to our first holiday together as a couple. We were told that if there weren't seats available, they'd pay for us to get to another airport to fly out, which would have meant a huge delay on the only time off we'd get together this year and have to rearrange our pre-booked and pre-paid living arrangements for the week. All because there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the need to check in online before hand. You'd think if someone checked in at the airport, that would be more of a guarantee that they'd be flying with you that day, but apparently not. Definitely not impressed or happy with this part of the KLM experience. This is the only company that we've had this problem with, they should make it clearer that it is essential to check in online."

However, due to the fact that you missed up three of the passengers information, they couldn't check in yesterday. The whole fight to LA was missed. As a result, we had to pay very high price to buy new tickets for the next available fight in order to complete the trip. I'v made four phone calls with your agent, with all records made. 1) The 1st agent confirmed that the information I provided were all correct for each passengers. So she believed there was nothing wrong and did nothing to help. 2) The 2nd agent realized the information were mixed up. But it was too late to let them check in. 3) The 3rd agent confirmed that the issue were caused by your system. He said only the supervisor could deal with this matter. He gave me a number which is not valid. 4) Finally, the 4th agent said you would contact me. No response by now. Still waiting for the response. Very disappointed after all."

But I could not make it, due to the false information at the check-in counter. Considering my situation, the CA related staff made a proposal for upgrading for my seat on this flight. However, a bureaucratic chief purser harshly relected it. Furthermore, the only food served in the main cabin on this flight was a hamburger, and it smelled bad. It might have been rotten."

Cons: "The seats were very cramped for an international flight and half of the foot space was taken up by an installed box of sorts. The "foot rest" also dug into my upper shins the entire flight (I had it in the upright position, but I have long legs). The food was really bad, basically inedible. Not just on this flight but on all the Air China flights I've been on, and both food options are usually identical other than the option between fake chicken or fake beef or seafood. The flight is super structured (referring to my 13-hour flight), that you're not allowed to sleep when you want because they have such a regimented schedule of when to turn on/off the lights, etc. On multiple occasions the flight attendants have turned off my tv monitor while I'm in the middle of a movie just because it appeared I was sleeping. With my 1 hr layover in Beijing that ended up being less than 10 minutes due to a delay, I made the rush through security quick enough, but my bags did not and needed to be shipped to me a day later at my destination. Air China purposefully schedules flights with such short layovers, putting customers' travel at risk. Not a major issue, but the crew surprisingly also had pretty limited English on the Beijing-Washington DC flight. For connecting flights, I have no expectation of English language ability, because it doesn't involve travel to an English-speaking country. However, if you're flying to the US, you should expect to communicate in English well, at least one of the cabin crew."
Cons: "We were so delayed—gate number didn’t show up until after we were to take off—missed connecting flight to HNL. They cited ‘weather’ for our missed connection but had never said anything about this in Hong Kong when we were waiting hours for our plane to arrive. We were told to get temporary visas so they could put us in a hotel that night. We found our way to the meeting place only to be told there were no more rooms. The worker was completely rude and just ignored us. We were stranded all night on the departure side, waiting to check in in the morning to a flight we weren’t even sure we were rerouted on. We were given 200 yen (which is nothing) and had to go thru Tokyo, and wait another half day to catch a connection to HNL. The whole trip took 36 hours instead of 16. I’ll never fly this airline again. Something similar happened to me flying China Eastern. Honestly avoid all Chinese airlines, unless you want to spend a lot of time arguing with people and at least 2-3 times the travel time. (Not to be confused with Taiwanese airlines like China Airlines which are much more dependable and hace way nicer everything.)"

From my flight being delayed multiple times by air china to the overly packed united to the confusion of the non updated confirmation numbers or the e-ticket number. Even on the day I left upon arriving to the airport my confirmation number they had just given me after all the prior problems still didn't work. Air china had mediocre food with okay entertainment except my headset jack on the TV was broke and I couldn't watch anything. On the last air china flight from Bejing to Bangkok. I couldn't even charge my phone, watch any entertainment and basically was just stuck with no WiFi. Justfly wouldn't compensate for the changes on their end and said I myself would have to ask the airlines for compensation which the.the airlines directed me no where for compensation or even to upgrade my seat. Now I'm finally in Thailand but I'm scared of my return."

The crew members in that flight were very rude even when I told them during boarding and a crew member came across with the special request sheet. Cons: "Gateway at Beijing Int Airport designed to/ from US bound is very far at the end of every thing, and even though they are doing their jobs as what of required, flight attendants need to put more smiles and greetings to customers. Food is somewhat just ok to fill your stomach."

Cons: "Economy seats are really small. My shoulders hit the head rest. I'm not that tall, but I'm not short either. I think the seat in front of me was only about 12 inches from my face. The 6 hour ride didn't have individual monitors. Why? No mobile products can be used- not even an iPod. I can understand an hour flight- but 4+ hours? The flight from PEK to SGN was super late, and no one would give an explanation. On the long leg, the movie selection was poor. Mainly Chinese movies. Only a couple new English movies, and some older ones."

Cons: "30 min to boarding time they changed the gate from E25 to E 57. They have around 250 people jammed into small space, where we had to board a bus to the tarmac and board the aircraft using the stairs carrying our carry ons. At the boarding gate the personnal were mainly giving out instructions in Chinese and people like us had no clue what was happening. There were two lines formed for passengers to check in, when I got to the front of the line the lady said I had to go to the other line as the line I was in was for business class and First class. This is to board the bus to take you to the aircarft. Again there was no clear announcements saying which line was which!!!"

Cons: "Boarding: bad, I couldn't check-in online because of some error which apparently only I faced. I still don't know the reason Customer care: horrible, either there are no reps with Air China or they just don't pick their phones. Tried calling them on various occasions for various things but wasn't answered even once (except for booking the meals). Baggage care: irresponsible, my luggage couldn't be loaded on time despite a good 3 hour layover at Beijing airport. I stood at the baggage belt for a good 45 mins (on the edge of crying) before the person responsible to inform me that my luggage hasn't arrived yet showed up. After that as well, I wasn't given a file reference number through which I could track my luggage. Also, nobody picks the phone at baggage claim office unless you call repeatedly for 50 times. What's with the distance between their phones and reps? Inflight crew: impolite, just one word for them. Food: boiled veggies for Hindu vegetarian meals, I mean I wouldn't place a special request for a meal like this. Seats: uncomfortable, the small monitor hangs so frequently that you give up watching even your favourite movie inside a boring flight."
