Boarding went well because we complained about how tired we, at 70+, were because the flight was late and we'd been standing up; this resulted in us being boarded with some of the latish priority passengers."

The meals were mediocre and the cabin staff were just barely the good side of unhelpful, officious and unfriendly The flight was inexplicably 2 hours or more late in excellent weather. No apologies given, the flight that was originally scheduled for 8 pm left close to 11 pm. While boarding the only light is a purplish ambient lighting that made it impossible to read anything, including the safety material, until the inflight entertainment was loaded up (the lights are only controlled through software-actuated virtual buttons on the screen). The inflight entertainment system is hard to use, too, designed by idiots for use by geniuses. But the very worst thing was the stress caused by Virgin Atlantic in just about guaranteeing that we would miss this flight. On our outbound voyage in January, VA, for reasons nobody knows, booked an ADDITIONAL leg from JHB to CPT on BA at 12:30 pm, even though we were already ON the earlier 9:30 BA flight we'd booked and paid for. Then, when we didn't show up for this spurious flight (because we were already in the air) we didn't book (BA swears they have evidence that VA made this booking), our return flight CPT to JBG three months later was cancelled WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE. If I hadn't been interested in knowing, the day before the flight, if the return BA flight had a meal, I would have showed up at the CPT airport in April and discovered that I had no way to get to the VA flight in JHB! As it was I spent an entire day trying to get back on the flight I'd already paid for. I advise EVERYONE who uses VA to reconfirm flights over and over. There is still no explanation for this. I will never NEVER fly VA again. They are not to be trusted."

A very nice BA agent met me as I deplaned at London Heathrow and ran with me thru Terminal 3. Helped me clear security with a priority card and ran to my gate with 2 minutes to spare. The women was really nice and if it was not for her I am sure I would not have made my connection. I don't know if there is anyway to track her down and thank her but I would like to do so. The flight attendants were OK but not excessively helpful."

We were in an older aircraft - my seat-back compartment was broken so it leaned against my legs for 9 hours. Not only didnt we have individual screens, but they played the same movie back-to-back."

Most of the staff seemed friendly and helpful except for one stewardess who seemed to be in a very bad mood. The food was fair for airline food and the free wine or beer with the meal was appreciated. The snacks we received before we landed were very tasty!"
Cons: "The seats made you feel cramped and the gap between the window seat and the outside of the plane made any light from a window shade opened in front of you blinding when the rest of the plane was pretty much dark with windows closed. TV touch screens on the back of the seats in front of you were slow responding and hard to see when a window shade was open near you."

One of the flight attendants helped me carry our things on, because it's tough to carry my son in his safety seat and our bags through the narrow aisles without beating up everyone in the aisle seats as we go through! She also checked on us multiple times to see if there was anything else she could help us with."

We have choices when flying. If you disrespect the customer's time, we take our business elsewhere. Also, having the customer do everything from tagging our baggage and automated check-in at the airport should reflect in the price we pay for a flight. Instead, you make us do all the work and keep prices the same."

Disturbingly, I pressed the flight attendant button twice to ask why unitedwifi.com was "unable to handle this request" for so long, but no one came to my seat. Much later, when the food cart came by, the attendant at the front told the other one to reset my light. The second one then asked if I had a question -- but didn't know what the wifi problem was. Hours later I did manage to get onto unitedwifi.com and learned that it's impossible to connect to using Chrome. Why did the crew not know this?! Then I was confronted with the $20 price tag to get on the internet. I started to pay, but the transaction took so long to complete that I realized it would be pointless to connect if that was the speed I could expect."

Cons: "The dinner, Thai Chicken Curry, contained nuts. Nobody communicated that to the passengers. I ate the Curry, not knowing there were nuts in the dish - I am allergic to nuts. Spent much of the flight feeling sick, being physically sick, feeling ill and not being able to think about anything else. After reading the Curry container cover, it did say the dish contained nuts. But the flight staff, I think, should have communicated this. Also who puts a dish with nuts in it on a plane, with all the allergies that passengers could have? I was not going to die from the experience, but some people are more allergic than I am. I think this choice of menu was very inappropriate."

Pros: "Boarding was swift, seat was fine, service was pleasant, flight was uneventful."
Cons: "Entertainment system was a tiny, pixelated screen playing a few movies on loop. Felt like it was 20 years old. Food was fine, but the pre-landing snack was a very greasy, ham and cheese on pretzel roll sandwhich."

Cons: "Crew was rude and did not reply to my call button when I rang it 3 times. Boarding was confusing. Instructions to get your passport checked before your zone boarded was not clear. Boarding agents were pleasant, but onboard crew was rude."

Cons: "The flight was a code share with United. Seats were ridiculously cramped in economy. Perhaps this is the new normal--I haven't flown internationally in a while. Food was just ok. I was disappointed that I was not flying Air New Zealand since that was part of the reason I booked this flight."

Cons: "Sat on runway for 40 minutes before taking off and 45 minutes before we docked and get off the plane...."

Cons: "Wifi was atrocious and I spent $16.99 on it. No one was manning the jet bridge so after we took off 2 hours late we had another delay of 15 minutes on the arrival. Our late takeoff was due to some plane issue, we missed our window and got held up by traffic control. Weather was perfect. All UAL fault."

Cons: "Flew on 747 not as comfortable and enjoyable as the dreamliners."

Cons: "We were delayed about 4 hours leaving, first delayed, then cancelled, then reinstated with a stop in Chicago so switch crew. The plane's AC didn't work on the ground so it was hot while we sat there. Arrived in SFO about 8-9 hours late, missed all connecting flights home and then they wanted us to spend the night. It was less than a 2 hour drive home so I ended up renting a car and doing that!"
