Different THY employees sent me to three (3) different places (with two suitcases in hand) at opposite ends of the huge Istanbul airport before finally pointing to the Business Lounge and causing my missing the connection. Had they directed me correctly and cared about my first delay, I would not have missed it. I lost the first-night pay at the hotel of my final destination, my friends lost their time and money on making trips to pick me up, my ailing relatives were in pieces worrying about me, and so on. In sum, a fun trip (NOT!) ... If you care for some details, here you go... They did not inform their own connecting flight about my delay. Despite issuing me a boarding pass, nobody was looking for me or announcing where I should go. I spent an hour running around the airport at THY employees' misdirections. Business Lounge revealed I was already issued a ticket for next morning's flight (without informing me via my email they had or otherwise). I then looked at their own monitor and saw a much earlier flight the same night on a partner airline. I had to point to that flight, and they issued me a ticket there. No apology, no offer of any compensation. I understand that flights may delay, and I could forgive an honest mistake in misdirection. But this was a wide-spread incompetence and utter unwillingness to help their own business class (!) customer. I can only imagine what pains the economy travelers had to endure! Just to give you a flavor, after realizing that my connecting flight was boarding (when my delayed first flight arrived in Istanbul), I asked the crew to direct me to the best route to my connection. They pointed to the gate personnel. The gate personnel who greeted us DID NOT KNOW about my connection and sent me to the opposite side of the airport without notifying the connecting flight to wait for me. No help/transport was offered. When I made my way to the connecting gate with my luggage, the flight was gone. Nobody to be found from THY around the gate. A neighboring THY gate's employee directed me to the "Care Point" desk far away. A sizable line emerged there, with only two agents working it. I asked one of them if business class was served there. They said, "Yes, get in line, please". After 30 minutes in that line, I approached a "Care Point" agent (a cruel name for no-care-whatsoever service) who told me "You need to go to the business class desk upstairs. Economy only here!" No apology, no expression of concern, yelling "Next!" when I told her that I wasted 30 minutes of valuable time in line at their direction and would appreciate her doing something to help or making sure I reach the right person. Off to the "business desk" I go... another 15-min. run in a different direction with luggage in hand. That desk could not help either...ARGHH. Do I need to continue?.."

On the other hand, having a pleasant and respectful flight crew can make a tremendous difference in the passengers experience. We were lucky enough to have a flight attendant named Gulhan Who smiled the entire flight. She was professional, courteous, and service oriented. Most of the flight crew showed similar professionalism. Turkish Airlines had for better service then any of the American or European airlines I have encountered during the last 10 years."

Cons: "They give you very little leg room. The seat in front of you touches your knees. After 8 hours in the same position it feels like you are stuck in a coffin or a primatial medieval torture device. The seat begins to hurt your back. You can't get in a comfortable position. You can't turn left or right. There's a little foot rest that gives you 10 minutes of relief but then that gets uncomfortable. If one of the people seated in with the inner row needs to use the restroom then the whole row needs to get up. It's cruel and unusual punishment. The airline just needs to expand the rows by 6 inches. Before you go bring a neck pillow and a butt cushion. Or better yet, pick a seat located in a front section that gives you more leg room. If you have the option then this should be a higher priority over a window seat. You will thank me for this advice."

Fortunately I was second in the ticket office line and was promptly rebooked with Lufthansa. My return flight was cancelled because of the coup, and again I was rebooked with Lufthansa."
Cons: "Overall Turkish Airlines did well in a difficult situation. But a few concerns. On my inbound flight, the agent servicing us was amazing and I was fortunate to be second in line, but the airline was ill prepared for the situation and the agent was being hung out to dry by his colleagues who kept calling him and wouldn't let him do his job. On the return flight, I was frustrated the agents at first pushed me to take a refund rather than letting me rebook with a partner. I ended up having to leave a day later than expected, and didn't get an itinerary till the morning after my original flight. This was all very stressful. Lastly, you have to think twice about flying through Turkey. Although this coup is over, the next crisis will be over whether President Erdogan creeping authoritarianism."

And then they kept me in security for over an hour to have 3 different levels of security ask me the same questions over and over again. Don't know why they flagged me...maybe a false positive...as usual they won't tell you a damn thing. But the security guys weren't bad people..just been given their orders."

Some of the stewards (on the opposite side of the aisle) seemed very friendly and accommodating, but unfortunately, the two ladies on my side made me feel like a burden rather than a welcomed customer. - I guess it's, you get what you pay for...but I was just surprised at "breakfast" being tossed a box with a burrito--no napkin, utensils, plate, nothing. I won't be flying Aer Lingus again."

I wore thick socks and slippers throughout the flight, but had to use the small blanket provided to keep my feet warm. Glad I had a heavy coat! I will avoid this carrier on any long hauls in the future."

Pros: "The Dublin to Manchester leg of the flight was far friendlier. Food was bad. No service to speak of on transatlantic potion. Couldn’t even get a refill on coffee after one tiny cup at breakfast."
Pros: "I was surprised at the minimal effort that went into that transatlantic flight. Disgraceful. I'm turned off enough to never fly aer lingus again. It was barely two steps above Ryan Air."
Cons: "The food looked like one put any effort into it, the coffee only came with milk and no milk substitute, there was only one kind of tea--no decaf and no herbal tea, and no butter substitute for people with dietary restrictions. Just a complete unthoughtful shame. My back is still sore from the lack of ergonomic considerations in seating. The blankets were cheap and thin and the plane was loud with no complimentary earplugs or sleep masks. Awful experience."

Cons: "The flight one flight attendant was just rude before take off my blanket was on my sit, she takes it and puts it inside the overhead and says you can get it back once we take off. Don't understand the meaning of that??? Then the same attendant was giving out breakfast sandwich I had to convince her that my son didn't get a sandwich. They walked by with the coffee cart she COMPLETELY IGNORE ME. Same thing for water. Bad experience with customer service center and one nasty attendant."

Cons: "I did not appreciate the airline encouraging us to pay for an upgrade on seats that did not merit an upcharge. The entertainment centers did not work well (or at all) on either leg of our trip. The crew was not generous with water and acted a little put out when we asked for anything."

Cons: "Excessive charges. After paying for our tickets, we were charged first for our seats and then for checked luggage. Those charges nearly doubled the cost of each ticket. We were also dismayed to be charged 3 Euros for a bottle of water during the flight. i suppose it's only a matter of time before the airline starts charging passengers for the right to exit the plane! Bottom line: advertising this airline as 'low-cost' is very misleading."

Cons: "Not able to ceheck in on line and then was put on standby for a ticket I purchased in January. Others in my party got their seats at the airport when they checked in. Two of us were put on standby. Food had a problem with coordinating serving and there were few liquids offered for an overseas flight where it is important to stay hydrated. One liquid with each meal. If I had known I would have bought water at the airport before boarding."

Cons: "Be very aware of your seats proximity to the restrooms. I paid for the extra legroom seat that turned out to be where everyone waiting for the restroom stood. I felt very bad for the passenger who was seated directly across the aisle from the restroom door."
Cons: "After getting to the airport with 3 plus hours to spare I still couldn't get a seat until 40 minutes before take off. On my first leg of the trip my boarding pass stated I was a "Stand By". That was incorrect I paid full economy fare. The twenty four hours before my trip instead of being filled with anticipation was more a management of anxiety. So everything leading up to the trip overshadowed the actual flight experience. We did fly Aer Linus, but that was booked through British Airways. Also screen to choose movies, TV programs need some new screens not easy to press and get a response."

Cons: "The ladies who checked in our bags were incredibly rude to me, my mother and my husband. On top of that they forgot to add the tags for Rome on our luggage so they got stuck in a connecting flight in Chicago. When we asked the supervisor to tell the people in luggage claim to forward our luggage to Rome when we were in Chicago (because of course the connecting flight only gave us 40 minutes to get to our flight to Rome so we didn't have enoughtrime to check our bags a second time), he said no. What would it have killed the guy to make a simple phone call? The alternative was to wait a day or two to see if maybe we could catch another flight to Rome with our luggage. I've never made a complaint before and I've never really made review because I don't it really accomplishes anything and I'm sure the idiots at American Airlines will never see or care about this, but I was extremely disappointed. They didn't get any empathy from your employees not even an im sorry, and I get that this job is hard but I have the same job too and I suck it up and still try to empathize with my customers. Oh well... it is what it is. The Airlines can do whatever they want."

I spent the next 3 hours yelling in Spanish trying to get rescheduled o a flight, was forced to pay in cash and file a form . Not great help when there was about 200 people in the customer service line"

Only after we insisted on flying to Barcelona we discovered that the flight to Tel Aviv took place as usual. To this day, I do not know why an airline needs to lie in such an ugly way. Note that this was not a misunderstanding or language difficulties. The English of the airline team and mine is excellent. This behavior is dismissive, irresponsible, and embarrassing"

The staff lied to us and wanted to keep us in Granada - they lied and said that our flight to Tel-Aviv from Barcelona was cancelled and that we need to stay another night in Granada and fly the next day. After we insisted on flying to Barcelone anyway (although they said they would not take care of us and all hotels in the city are full because of the weather conditions [which was a lie - it's summer and the weather was fine]). When we got to Barcelone we saw that our flight to Tel-Aviv was not cancelled! We only had 30 min because the previous flight was delayed in 2 hours so we ran and went on the plane. Of course our luggage did not arrive...."
