Also, my wife and I usually take our tea with honey vs. milk and sugar. Even though honey is usually one of the options for tea, she found a way to accommodate our request. The lunch meals were the best I can remember in a long time on an airline flight. They might have been the best I've ever had. The chicken curry was authentic, flavorful and spicy. Frankly my outbound flight had problems. My luggage got damaged. The transfer experience in Manchester left a LOT to be desired. I wasn't planning to use Virgin Atlantic again, but this flight crew (Daniella especially) redeemed Virgin Atlantic. They were attentive, pleasant, diligent."

Pros: "I was selected for additional screening at the gate. I have no problem with this at all. From the start I told them I am traveling with my fiancee. They tried to hold me back in a separate area after the screening and I once again told them my fiancee was waiting for me. One staff memeber walked with me half way back to get her and then disappeared. By the time I found her and came back, the staff memeber was no where to be found. Now we had lost are spot in the line and had to go to the back of the line. We spoke to 3 different staff people about what was going on and everyone said, oh the guy over there will help you. But no one did. The staff had No idea how to run a security check or handle paople. There was No working wifi! There was no tvs in the seats, only the old style in the aisle. The staff told me the plan was going to retire at the end of the month. The food was more for animals then for humans! We got updates by txt 10 mins before the staff updated the gate on our flight out from SFO. I have traveled all over the world with a lot of airlines and Never had such a poor service, but what is it to expect. It was United after all!"

The extra 3" was great, and we had to pay more on the return trip. The FAA should be investigating seat size and safety on planes."

What I don't understand is why we were not able to get boarding passes and seat assignments when we did our check-in in Sydney? Why is that so hard? Also, when we were getting our boarding pass in LAX it was so confusing when it asked for checked bags. Our bags were already on a belt going to who knows where - were we supposed to check "yes"? If we had a boarding pass this would not have been an issue."

Cons: "A couple things went wrong on this trip, my checked luggage got misplaced for a day, and a nice women in baggage claim told me what was happening and a nice man handled my claim and my bag has now been returned to me. The bigger thing is my flight bas delayed taking off by 3 hours. Let me start that I would rather have a part replaced on the runway then not, safety is paramount. The fact is my flight took off 3 hours late from London (VS11), and got to my destination (BOS) 2.5 hours late. Kudos to the flight crew for getting me to my destination faster by gaining a little time. Plus, since BOSTON was my final destination it was all fine this time. But if I had had to get home to the elder person I take care of or my teenager it would been a problem. Again, I'm annoyed, but I do understand the reasons and they are valid and preferred. I have heard that airlines to keep their flight rating high, wait for planes to leave the gate on time and then do repairs on the tarmac. If this is still a SOP for airlines you should change the way the statistics are collected and figure out a way of not perpetuating this type of disincentive. This is just hypothesis on my part, and my whole trip had little negatives."

I have flown international on Delta, American Airlines, British Airlines, United, and others and any difference in the experience was negligible."

Cons: "I found the seats on this Virgin Atlantic A340 flight from LHR (London Heathrow) to LAX (Los Angeles), an eleven hour flight, to be unacceptable. The seats were very crowded. I am six feet tall, and was very uncomfortable all during the flight. I could not sit with my knees together. I had to spread my knees to sit comfortably. Holding that position for eleven hours was very uncomfortable. Anyone taller than me would have even more trouble. Also, every seat has a very large box underneath, I presume for the audio/video system. This is a terrible location. There is very little room to stow anything. But much worse, I couldn't straighten my right leg. All-in-all, I found the seat situation totally unacceptable. I will likely never fly Virgin Atlantic again because of this."

So they let the passengers be crammed together in the rest of the plane and left numerous empty seats that could have been used! It’s was just rude. They also served drinks and never checked back to pick up the garbage. Didn’t tell us to raise our seats or put up our table trays before landing. So, as I exited the plane I handed them my garbage! I wasn’t going to be rude and leave it in the seat pocket or my seat …where I found crumbs of food on when I boarded the plane. Was just very dissatisfied with this crew!! I have been flying a lot lately using delta. I’ve had some delays but they’ve always been accommodating, this crew was not! What a shame!"

Timely boarding, actual help with finding seats making boarding efficient (not just hurrying you along), updates from the cockpit that you could hear and understand, multiple choices in snacks-one even a healthy option, staff that was friendly and interested in making it a good experience not one that seemed bothered they had to work."

Cons: "I didn't like that with a window seat, my area for my feet was diminished by some metal box. Also the entertainment options were severely lacking for adults. Only thing to watch in English were highlights. I had to turn to Children's entertainment. Plus, my screen froze at one point after being hard to function. The flight overall was very uncomfortable."

Cons: "The return leg has been nothing but a disaster, in every way possible, specifically my time and financially. At no point in the booking process, when I paid over $800 for the trip, was I told that I needed a specific travel visa (Canadian ETA) to fly back into Toronto for my return flight. Subsequently when I checked in for my flight yesterday morning in Manchester, England, I did not have the required travel documents and had to be rerouted onto a flight into the U.S. at a cost to me of $350. The rerouted flight got me to Washington Dulles airport, where I then had to purchase a second flight to get me home to Cleveland, Ohio, at an additional/extra cost of $450. MY CAR IS PARKED AT TORONTO PEARSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT!!! I am having to now rent a car and drive there tomorrow (Friday) to collect my car, at another additional cost of $100 plus a 10-hour round trip. Due to the lack of information and communication on your companies behalf, I am down close to a $1,000 and will lose 2-days in work as of the additional days I am having to travel back to Toronto to collect my vehicle. I would appreciate contact from your organization to find the avenue I need to take for compensation of my time and finances. Regards"

Cons: "Noises obnoxious passengers drinking standing up in the isles for long periods. Hanging on other passenger's seats. Very rude and clearly didn't care. Flight attendent tried to get them to sit and hold it down but it had little effect. They were part of a larger group so they wanted the flight to be a social event."
Pros: "I flew in Business Class from JFK to Munich and then back to JFK via Frankfort. Both flights were on time and very smooth overall in both directions. The cabin crew was good both ways and all spoke English well. Lufthansa long haul flights still use the older 2 x 2 x 2 seating arrangement (unlike the more modern and common 1 x 2 x 1 arrangement where all seats have aisle access)...so if you don't want someone crawling over you trying to get to the toilet while you are trying to sleep be sure to choose a center seat (both with direct aisle access.) While not totally uncomfortable, the Lufthansa business class sleeper seats are narrower...less well padded...and have less recline options than those used by most other long haul airlines, especially the very narrow foot-wells. The pillows and blankets could be better too. The food was OK - but not on a par with what most other airlines serve on long haul flights. The JFK to Munich flight was non-problematic in all respects. However, there was a screaming baby in my aisle (Row 4 on a 747-8 only 2 seats away from me) on the Frankfort to JFK leg...which I found TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE."
Cons: "What airline would permit a lap baby (less than 2 years old...a periodic screamer...and totally unmanageable by its solo-travelling mother) to occupy it's Business Class section on a 7+ hour flight - while inconveniencing (and aggravating) all other nearby Business Class passengers who paid thousands of dollars/euros to ride in Business Class so they don't have to put up with this kind of nonsense? The answer is: "LUFTHANSA!!! And YES, this actually happened on my Frankfort to JFK flight (LH 400 on 23 January 2017.) I'm not sure if the woman in question paid for two seats or not but this unmanageable kid finally calmed down and fell asleep - but he did so in the seat next to her. If this unmanageable lap kid was allowed to do everything he did (including to use a Business Class seat for free IF that is what actually happened) then this just adds insult to injury. WAKE UP LUFTHANSA!!! People pay huge sums to ride in Business Class to avoid this situation - and it's time you BANNED this situation from even occurring."

Cons: "Hardly any leg room, hardly any elbow room, got middle sitting on all my flights and the lay overs were terrible and last but not least my baggage were I had my holiday did not show up for two days. When it did I tipped the driver 20 pounds as he deserved it more than anyone anyways. Oh yeah almost forgot to mention my bag looks like it went through a meat grinder. Thanks Lufthansa baggage handlers your the best ever ! And BTW this para graph speaks for a my stops and transfers"

Cons: "This airline has little respect for its customers. In the economy/coach cabin, they squeeze the seat distances to such an extent that, when the person in front of you leans their chair back, you cannot get out of your seat at an upright angle. You have to significantly bend your body. To not loose your balance, you have to grab on to the seat in front of you and that disturbs the other passenger. If they're sleeping, they can be woken up by that. Lufthansa does not care much for its passengers. Nor do many other companies, for that matter, but I think Lufthansa is taking things further than most airlines. It is a disgrace. Their brand is not what it once was."

Pros: "On both of my flights to New York City, I was amazed at how friendly and helpful the flight attendants were to the passengers. On my short flight from Basel to Amsterdam, a young French speaking girl was concerned about how to manage getting to her next gate. The flight attendants talked to her and arranged for someone to take her there. On my longer flight from Amsterdam to New York City, there was a customer who was in distress about missing a previous flight and not making it to her connecting flight in New York. One of the flight attendants reassured her until she stopped crying and calmed down. That same flight attendant was always so positive and cheerful in all she did. The rest of the crew was top notch. This was my best experience flying in such a long time. Well done, KLM crews of flights 1984 and 0645 on July 10!"

Cons: "Information on KLM website and flight status said 50 minutes delay and was never updated with the true status. 3 hours before we took off. KLM blamed the fog at Manchester but to be honest most other flights seemed unaffected. Put up in an IBIS hotel and fed substandard food and shitty hotel room with an Aircon unit that clunks into action every 30 seconds keeping me awake. It's external so I can't switch it off. Being given a 10 Euro voucher for food at the airport when most food and a drink will cost you 12 to 15 euros."
Pros: "Flight crew was pleasant and attentive. Seats were comfortable for economy as well. We were allowed to check in extra baggage for free at check in which really helped since we would be catching a connecting flight in Amsterdam"
Cons: "Per usual, KLM can't seem to figure out the order of boarding the plane. Should be business - priority - everyone else. Instead they do priority first, and that's usually two-thirds of the passengers. Strange choice of in-flight movies; no accounting for taste, I guess."

The flight has a 32 hour layover and KLM lost my luggage and it was not found until a week after my arrival back home. I still have not received my bag at this time. The boarding crew was manually tracking who boarded and who didn't. It was a cluster."

Cons: "Since we had two extra bags (paid for in Chicago), they demanded to see my receipt before we could board in Amsterdam to Nairobi. We had trouble locating the receipt and we were not given an explanation as to why we needed it again. We were traveling with 5 kids including an infant and we were not allowed to board until we found the receipt. I thought surely they would have record that I had paid, but I guess not. We were the last to board and all very stressed out. The staff seemed not to care the least in our troubles."
