Nickled and dimed for literally every single thing, paid $100 to check my bag, not even a free cup of water, jetstar is literally the worst version of budget airline hell. Absolutely made me regret my entire trip, I was never so uncomfortable while traveling . I will never fly jetstar again.
Paying, not just for extras, but for basic human needs like water is a terrible feeling. jetstar was uncaring and exploitative of the fact that the minute we purchased tickets., we were under their power completely. There was no regard for human feelings or really life of any kinds. I felt like cattle
The Boeing 787 is a nice plane but too bad that Jet Star is such a poorly run airline.
My flight was cancelled with hardly any notice and I couldn't fly out for two more days. I missed planned connections with friends in Auckland. It took hours to get checked in and my checked bag deposited on the belt ("technical problems" they said.) Also, it cost me $160.00 to check one bag! THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS! Their bag weight limits are not realistic and not consistent with other airlines. I don't mind paying for a meal on board, but light drinks such as coffee, tea, juice and soda should be free. The crew on board was polite, but division of labor among service agents in the terminal is not fair-some working hard and stressed and some not doing much.
Turns out while I thought luggage was included in the package it wasn't and was a massive rush at check in to get luggage balanced and paid for without going over the $160 for 15kg limit.
Reminded me why I won't be flying Jetstar again and the KAYAK system did not make it clear what i was buying. Very disappointed
The flight was scheduled to leave just after 6 in the morning. However the time kept on being pushed back because they couldn't fix the problem. I understand things happen but the plane was sitting there overnight. They could have checked it earlier to determine if it was ready to go which might have allowed them to fix the problem instead of canceling the flight.
at check in we were told that there is normally a charge per kilo for all checked in baggage but that it would be waved. that was not stated at the time I bought the tickets online, otherwise I may have opted to use another airline. Using Jetstar was supposed to be an economical choice but given the baggage fees it ups the total and takes them out of consideration for me. I will not use them in the future, you inform people in advance, not hide fees until check in. I don't trust them now.
Initially I liked the price and time of the flight, but the amount you have to pay for luggage negated the first thing, so all I was left with was convenient timing. The plane crew was nice, though as there was no beverage or food service unless you paid for it (they will give you tap water for free), there wasn't much for them to do.
They weigh your carry-on bag and have a ridiculous 7kg (combined personal and carry-on) limit. Then they blast you with a $25 per kg overage, so if you have the misfortune of being 5kg over (as I was) you get the pleasure of a $125 fee (which I just saw my card was charged $250 - I need to contest that). The seats are so thin you feel the tray of the seat behind you pressing into your back the whole flight, and they recline maybe a whole 2 inches. There is no entertainment, no beverage or snack service and the plane sounds and feels like a cheap car with terribly loud noise and no shocks. As I said in the title, I'd recommend quantas or new Zealand air and spend slightly more (or maybe less after the baggage overage fees) for a better all around experience.
We’re not the seller.
At KAYAK we don’t set the prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.
We compile tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we can't guarantee prices we find.
Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car rentals can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find, on occasion, that certain prices are no longer available.
If you have more questions or if you have a bad price to report to us, please send us an
