I understand that weather delays are essentially out of airlines' hands. However, if the delay is caused for other reasons like "mechanical issues", or any other errors or miscommunications within the airline itself, then they should be held liable. My time is worth money, so any delays not weather-related should result in a reasonable refund based on the duration of the delay. An apology doesn't placate customers' frustration and inconvenience due to delays."

Everyone was very polite but check in was confusing. Everything else was wonderful. Cutomer service was great from beginning to end."

I missed my flight because even though I got to LAX two hours before the flight, I had to wait on the baggage check for two and a half hours. The attendants were texting and talking and not servicing the passengers. When I told American attendants and supervisors that I was going to miss my flight unless they got me through they were clueless and didn't care about me or any of the passengers. The entire American staff were the most disorganized and careless flight personnel I have ever seen. Them they put me on a standby flight, where I was number eight and five minutes later was number eighteen, so I missed that, too. My wife is one of the top Public Relations people in Los Angeles and we both have tweeted and posted on social media extensively about this horrendous experience. I require a full refund from American Airlines for my airfare, and if I don't receive it from you will take you to court. --Eric Red"

I don't mind waiting in line but out of the 2.5 hours I waited in line about 30% of that time there was no attendant at the ticket counter, 50% of that time there was only one attendant who spent her time helping first class, and only 20% of the 2.5 hours I waited in line was there still only 2 attendants helping check people in. Because of this, I missed my flight."

Cons: "Heading from BWI to Newark to Boston on 9/29 on United. There were delays at Newark airport which lasted about an hour, and meant that we would be super tight getting in for our connecting flight. We had been told ahead of the departure of the delayed flight that there would be someone on the ground at Newark monitoring the delayed connecting flights, in case a flight needed to be held. Well, we actually landed about 15 minutes before our connecting flight was due to take off. However, we quickly found out that not only were the gates closed early, but the flight tracker was showing the flight had actually left early. There was clearly no communication between on the ground crews, and everyone working at the airport once we landed seemed confused about the situation. By the time we got within eyeshot of our gate, the gate agents were telling us that the Boston flight was already closed. This meant that no one was even monitoring the situation for us, and that they made no effort to hold the plane for the five of us who were supposed to be on that flight. Additionally, that was the last flight to Boston from Newark, so they literally didn't give one iota of care for our situation. I had a 10am wedding to attend that next day, and even after telling the agent this information she still asked me whether I wanted to get on a 10:38am flight to Boston, which made exactly zero sense. After all of this, she ended up getting me on a flight into manchester (that flight had been delayed for 3 hours by this time, and was delayed again after I was booked on it) which landed at 1:24am, a full two hours and some change after I would have landed in Boston, and a full hour away from Boston. Luckily, my boyfriend had his car and was able to pick me up. I finally got to Boston around 2:45am. My suggestion to the airport crews is to actually communicate when you have issues like this. It wasn't our fault, but we were greatly inconvenienced and they did not make an effort to prevent the situation at all. Adding to this, our pilot for that first flight told us that the reason for the first delay was that Newark was congested with too many flights into and out of the airport. THAT is entirely their fault for not being able to properly gauge their own capacity and should not have ended up inconveniencing passengers! I end all this with an additional inconvenience- when I arrived for my flight on Sunday at 4:40am for a 5:55am flight back to DC, I was told that my return flight had been CANCELED. Somehow, in rebooking me on the flight to Manchester. So I had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with United to get that fixed at 5 in the morning and nearly missed my return flight due to crew incompetence as well."

Entertainment options were shocking. Each seat had a screen, but there was no free VOD. The only free option was a stream of two episodes of a terrible discovery show padded with ads to fill 4 hours. I tried to pull my laptop out to watch anything else, but the seat was too small to open a 15" laptop."

About 6 reps were accepting bags but mostly just chit chatting between themselves. They pointed anyone with a question to the very long manual check in line. It was very obvious they did not care. The plane was packed solid and it was uncomfortably warm on the flight."

Cons: "The flight was long and packet. The outlets didn't work, Wi-Fi didn't work. There was no entertainment system. I just had to try and fall asleep, or stare at the seat in front of me. They also changed everyone's seats last minute. The snack they have was terrible. And I'm not picky. It got me to my destination. That's about it."

Unfortunately my iPad doesn't have data so I couldn't download the app either. I got an allergy rash on my arms and back from the blanket which is weird and hasn't ever happened and Its supposed to be clean from the package but when when I looked it blonde hair all over it. The outlets didn't work to charge my devices, even unplugging and plugging it back in didn't work, so my phone died and I didn't have my music. We were delayed in the hot plane for a long time like 30 mins before take off and we weren't officially informed until we were already 10/15 mins late to take off. Some of the crew was nice but some weren't very, and kept bumping me as they passed. They ran out of chicken dinner and we had to wait 10 mins which isn't a lot of time but most of the plane was already eating and I was hungry and then the bathrooms ran out of toilet seat covers and the paper kept falling off the dispenser and they got sort of gross on the floors. The seats were also extremely uncomfortable and my light switch for my seat actually controlled someone else's seat, and vice versa so we had to ask one another to control each other's light. This was my worst experience flying, and especially internationally, and I have flown a lot. I hope this review is helpful in addressing some items for future flights."

Cons: "United Airlines Flight 1493 Newark to LAX delayed by more than an hour so we missed the LAX connecting flight to Palm Springs. Because it was the last flight that night, spent 2 frustrating hours getting checked baggage so we could rent a car (another hour because of a very long line and one agent at Budget Rentals) which got us into Palm Springs at 1 AM. Gate agent at Newark said "good luck" - customer service agent at LAX was hopelessly uninformed. Exhausting, stressful, $$ experience!"

Cons: "My connecting flight was cancelled and had to be taken to another airport for a connecting flight and was told that it was overbooked Very stressful situation to wait to find out if we had a seat available on that flight if not wait till the next one. Terrible"

Pros: "Your staff was wonderful! Everyone was patient and compassionate. I was asked to move to the back to balance the plane and the stewardess was extremely empathetic."
Cons: "I hoped there would be more room. I felt like I was always in the way even sitting in my seat."

Cons: "Boarding went quickly but then waited almost 35 minutes on the plane to take off. Once the plane landed there was again a wait to pull into the gate. Spent more time waiting on the plane than the flight itself."

Cons: "Flight was very late. Boarding is rediculous. They load from the front of the plane and people go to the back looking for overhead storage and then try to more forward again while the people with seats in the back are coming in."

Pros: "Plane left on time and got in early. Flight crew unusually pleasant. Service fine."
Cons: "I upgraded my seat and had hoped to get an aisle seat. When none of those were available, I chose a window seat. However, when I took my seat, I was sitting next to a wall, not a window. Bummer"

Pros: "Communicated things as they unfolded"
Cons: "The air traffic control issues on both ends of the flight...we had to divert to a different airport, and there was only one option for transportation and a long line to figure it out, so since it was so late, I gave up and ended up paying a hefty cab fee. The airline should have been ready with cards or info about how to get reimbursed, considering everyone's unique travel situations. Simply a shuttle back to Kahaurdia was not helpful..."

Cons: "Read the prior review. Maintenance problem with aircraft caused an additional one hour layover to the original 3 hour layover."
