I am quite disillusioned with Delta now and will have to look around to see what other airlines there are now - and my entire family - and what kind of loyalty they give to their loyal customers. Honestly, if the delay is due to 'maintenance' for an incoming plane that has not left its originating destination, why quote any time at all? The check in rep did provide an announcement at 8:15 that although the time of departure had moved to 9:05 , he did not see how that was possible since our plane was on the ground in Richmond undergoing maintenance. I was in LGA. When I heard that, I changed to another flight, so the outcome was not as bad as it could have been. I am aware of these other times since my email is packed with Delta's notifications, which I welcome usually."

There should be backup crew available and when there are delays, the passengers should be kept informed. There should be other flight options available when this happens. I never received an apology from anyone I encountered throughout the process, and some personnel were rude even though I was polite."

The food very substandard. If you were on a basic ticket, you were only entitled to water and no food. So people are travelling on long haul flights without being offered anything as standard. Passengers on these tickets were not aware that they would not be served.any food which is probably unethical. They offer to sell you food if on a basic ticket"

The second time we boarded and were told we’re waiting on catering who wasn’t on site then had to go through airport security. After 3HOURS , we were asked to leave the plane. For rebounding the next morning with no explanation. The next morning the flight was delayed an additional 3HOURS. We were never given food in all this time of a wait. This became an 18+ hour delay. We definitely missed our connection and they rebooked it."

Cons: "I had an issue with their policy on face masks. I came wearing one, but was told that my mask was not allowed because it had some sort of filter/valve on it. Now I do understand the theory behind not allowing masks with valves, because they are supposed to let moisture out. But there are two layers of material that stood between my face and the filter/valve of my mask. Besides for an N95, I have not seen a mask where there was no material blocking the inner side of the filter/valve. I could have simply ripped the filter/valve off the mask and there wouldn't have been an issue, because my mask would still have no holes, and would be a complete face covering. The implication I got from this experience was that material itself does nothing to keep particulates from passing through, which means that we are all wearing masks as a placebo to keep people from panicking."
