"The whole process sucked very unorganized and not enough I do available"
"I booked a flight SJC to ORD. It included a layover in LAX. I had to transfer my own baggage and pay for baggage twice!"
"No individual TV screens. So you must have a device like an iPad or a phone or a laptop to connect to their media service. Movie selection was mediocre at best. A lot of useless programming in my opinion. Also had a first, was asked to put my mask on between sips of a drink. That’s the first I’ve ever heard of that! We ate out every meal for a week straight and no one asked us wants to mask up between bites or sips. Nor did other Alaska flights ask us to mask up between sips. Thought it was pretty ridiculous."
"I missed a connection due to a 4 hour maintenance delay. The worst part is that I can't even attempt to rebook the flight because there is no way to contact Iberia. The desks were closed because there were no more flights that day. They never answer the help line or facebook. I simply cannot, in any way, even get ahold of a person to help me rebook this flight that cost 1000 dollars and was ruined by the fault of the airline. So I am stranded in LA right now, frantically trying to get ahold of anyone from Iberia to help me get to Spain."
"Thank you for giving us new planes and plenty of storage space."
Cons: "Refundable tickets"
Pros: "The flight wasn't full which is always nice and they served full size cans which is also a nice little note."
Cons: "The plane was pretty old and people just started sitting wherever. It was chaos as my wife and I sat in our assigned seating and just watched people wander like animals."
Pros: "Easy boarding. No issues."
Cons: "Better business class seating, better food and in seat entertainment as it isn’t enjoyable watching movies on an iPhone."
Pros: "Comfortable seat and free drink"
Cons: "Probably if they offer few snack like a chip or nuts."
Pros: "Crew, efficiency, movie/show options"
Cons: "No alcohol, food options (vegan), tv screens in seats"
Pros: "Flight attendants were nice"
Pros: "On time flight, friendly crew"
Cons: "Spacing, with covid one empty seat for every 3 row seat would be better"
Pros: "Danny working in First Class was amazing."
Cons: "The food."
Cons: "Social distancing ( one’s seat apart)"
Pros: "The flight"
Cons: "Social distancing. Caught covid on the plane back"
Cons: "I never received the flight. It did not exist. I had to buy another ticket."
Pros: "Exit front and back."
Cons: "Only at the airport too hot, not air conditioner"
Cons: "Free internet wifi"
Pros: "The line was fast the agents were friendly, plane was clean flight attendant were nice"
Pros: "The crew was great."
Cons: "The wifi was expensive:("
Pros: "Ok crew, not the best planes and service but good enough to get from A to B. Was I happy with the flight? No, will I use them again? If the price is right for sure."
Cons: "Friendlier crew and better service"
Cons: "Too packed"
Cons: "The seats/head rests were very uncomfortable, they just seemed to be worn down."
Pros: "The crew was great, the plane was clean and updated, the in-flight entertainment was good."
Cons: "On both of my Alaska Airlines flights we took off later than scheduled, by over 15 minutes. It could have been due to the congestion at LAX. And the seats were comfortable if not a little cramped. I also wish we would have been offered adult beverages on my late flight into SFO -- helps for sleep."
Pros: "Excellent all"
Cons: "My bag arrived with a huge gob of grease on it which ruined my shirt It also appeared to have been run over or dragged which damaged the strap and plastic buckle The bag also now has a hole in it The baggage service personnel were very friendly and accommodating"
Pros: "Yes crew was amazing"
Cons: "Best domestic USA airline"
Pros: "The crew at Alaska is top tier! They are always the friendliest, on the phone or in person. I was stuck in the Seattle snow storm and they were so helpful with flight changes"
Cons: "There was no tv on the plane and no complimentary snack/drink"
Pros: "The crew"
Cons: "The chair was very uncomfortable and it was cold. A light blanket and more padding on the seats would make a difference."
Cons: "My experience: Animal Abuse during boarding, cancellation of flights every single time I’ve booked flights, horrible mess with customer service, just don’t care about people..."
Pros: "I like the idea of allowing pre-boating for families with small children or elderly parents to some extent"
Cons: "I did not like that the airline allowed more than 1-2 people to accompany 1 small child when pre-boarding. I happened to be able to go in with the general boarding but was one of those who was first in line within this group. My seat which was 5C already had no overheard room!!! It appears that 1 child was accompanied by 4 adults when they pre-boarded and in addition to their carry-ons, they put their foldable stroller, backpacks and totes in the overhead bin!! The airline announced a request for people to leave the overhead bin spaces for bigger carryons but does not enforce it. Flight attendants should not feel uncomfortable actually asking to whom the backpack or tote belong to and tell passengers to put those under their seats. Somehow, passengers need to be educated on proper etiquette. Also, pre-boarding should only allow 1-2 people to accompany a child or an elderly person. Pre-boarding should not be taken advantage of by all adults traveling with those needing it."
Cons: "My luggage did not arrive. We were asked to volunteer to check any carryons we did not need to take into the cabin. I volunteered and my luggage did not arrive. I had thousands of dollars worth of items. Submitted a claim."
Cons: "In the SF airport, your crew accepted me to pay for $25 for putting my suitcase into the plane. But then, she mentioned that the flight was delayed and there was no way that I can made my connection from LA to Indianaplis. So I was given a boarding pass with my suitcase ($25 paid) only to LA. The front desk asked me to try other ways when I arrived LA to see what can be done. When I entered into the gate, your CS changed my flight to UA after I have presented my case. However, I had to pull the suitcase out from Alaska, paid another $25 to United and started the trip all over again. All the while, your crews expected me (an alien from Asia) that I should have known every thing get it through, or to claim my suitcase charges. I am really disappointed for the lack of understanding. To you, it may be something happened so common everyday. To me, I was totally lost to handle this."
Pros: "That the problem was eventually fixed."
Cons: "I arrived at the SFO at 715. I checked in and went straight to my gate. After sitting in the gate area just a few minutes, the women at my flight desk announced a delayed flight(flight would depart at 10 instead of 855) The asked that passengers come retrieve their meal vouchers. She checked my boarding pass and I went and ordered myself dinner and returned to sit down close to 9pm. I waited for the screen to change for the new flight information but it never did. The terminal was busy with music and basketball finals.lost of mumbling announcemrnt so I kept checking my flight screen and it still had the original flight. I sat waiting. All of a suddent the tv changes and it’s a different destination??? I got up and asked why my flight wasn’t posted and she told me ‘sweetheart your flight left 20minutes ago.’ I was shocked. How could this happen? She informed me i’d missed my flight that was never delayed. I was so tired and worried and she kept calling me sweetheart. Telling me there were mo more flights but that she’d put me on a 6am the next morning. With my disability I was so worried I pushed and pushed and spoke to both counter airling people. Finally, I got mad and she put me on united. I am so upset about the whole ordeal. That was a surreal awful experience that had me crying on the way home."
Pros: "Plane clean, boarding efficient, pilot cordial, flight confortable, arrived early despite delayed departure."
Cons: "Because video playback system was inoperable (not an issue for me—I am happy to read during the flight) the young crew had to perform safety announcements manually but were obviously ill-practiced and inexperienced at this, bungling their reading and even seeming not fully to understand the words. (They also botched announcing introductions of the pilot and crew, not seeming confident who was on board or as if they in fact knew their names.) This was of course unprofessional but also introduced doubt how reliable they would be in an actual emergency."
Pros: "I liked watching the fact that I was able to finish a movie that i began on a previous Alaska flight. I’m trying to reach towards MVP, so I was unfortunately disappointed in other aspects."
Cons: "Well other than the fact that the flight was delayed by two hours, I was given incorrect info. When I asked the staff member at the gate about what group I was boarding with, he told me to line up with the first group only to be asked to turn around when I reached the front. Also my seat did not recline back and it wasn’t a seat up against a wall. I’m leaving the plane with a sore neck."
Pros: "Not much to like this time around"
Cons: "Boarding attendants announced that the flight was delayed just 10 minutes before boarding time because of weather. Flight was from Seattle to Los Angeles and the weather was clear on the flight path. Two hours later, an announcement was made that it was actually because of congestion at the airport (poor planning) and yet, they did not offer anything to the passengers for the inconvenience. We boarded the plane two hours late, only to sit on the tarmac for another 40 minutes. This situation could have been handled so much better by Alaska Airlines."
Pros: "Plane was a little warm, air didn’t work great, also delayed on the runway for about 45 minutes before takeoff"
Cons: "They delay on the runway"
Cons: "Was told by TSA in los angeles that alaska airlines had selected me for an ssss on my boarding passes was checked in loreto on a 5 minute search had no carry ons went quick When in Los Angeles went thru customs and immigration no problem however when i got to security they checked my passport and said i had to have further screening had to stand 25 minutes waiting for tsa officer to take me through the line officer showed up finally they patted me down checked for nitrates took picture of my passport than sent me to gate While it was boarding had alaska agent make smart ellic comment about ssss on my boarding pass made it to Seattle than was going to take wenatchee flight gate agent said he needed all my previous boarding passes for loreto and Lax i said i threw them away he said well i will have to send you back through security here in seattle i told him i dont have enough time to make my flight he said you must have known there was Trouble my wenatchee flight fortunately had no ssss on it made my flight very long story short i will avoid alaska airlines next time."
Pros: "The flight was great. Watching the crew of flight 256 work together was nice. They were the most polite and professional crew I’ve ever seen! Especiallly helping the elder and special needs clients on the flight. This was touching and emotional, since one of the passengers seemed paralyzed from a stroke and her husband was doing the best he could helping her to the bathroom. My mother in law suffered the same parálisis, so this hit home. My husband and I were also surprised to see all of the Manzanillo Airport crew waving good bye as the flight took off. This flight felt special."
Pros: "We love Alaska Airlines! Smooth flights! Perfect snack selection of all natural gummy bears, almonds, and fig bar for premium class, and love the in flight entertainment. Good job guys!"
Pros: "i flew from seattle to orlando and although it was a long flight i was very comfortable with ample leg room"
Cons: "on this leg of the trip i asked one of the attendants for help with the in flight entertainment and the only suggestion i got was to rent a tablet from them."
Pros: "Flight attendants, good service goodies , On time flight and smooth flight !! I been using Alaska for many years and is one of the best airlines ... even to book my flights"
Cons: "No words"
Cons: "I haven't flown a first class this poor ever. No blankets, we were not offered drinks until we were at cruising altitude, no magazines, felt very dirty and unkept. Food was less than desirable. Alaska needs to improve their overall service and cabins."
Pros: "Love everything!"
Cons: "The only issue I had was that we were delayed about 40 minutes after being in the plane because the pilots weren't there and the AC wasn't working yet so we were roasting while waiting for them to arrive. The attendants were very apologetic and kind though, passing out water and helping guests be as comfortable as possible. The only issue I've ever come across with this airline and it was still handled with kindness and efficiency, so DONT let this discourage you, Alaska is great!!!"
Pros: "That I was finally able to go home."
Cons: "My first flight to Alaska was delayed and my flight leaving was cancelled completely. I called customer service and was told I would be given a refund for all the trouble my cancelled flight was causing making me late for work and my ride being unable to pick me up at the new landing time. I never received a refund and my rebooked flight got cancelled. I almost didn't get home on that flight either, but the customer service agent found me a seat. I never received a refund and I missed out on pay at work. I never want to fly Alaska again!"
Pros: "The flight was generally like any other flight"
Cons: "I had paid for a nonstop flight at a certain time to get home for an important meeting, but because I booked through a third party they said I was going to be bumped to another flight that would get me home over 12 hours later WITH a layover. That's frankly not what I paid for. That makes me not want to ever book with a third party again. I don't appreciate not getting what I pay for. Eventually someone took a voucher and I was able to get on the flight, but I'm still upset because, as the customer, I did nothing wrong. Just book the proper amount of seat for the proper amount of people. So frustrating."
"Delayed with no updates and zero taking care of passengers"
"Late departure rude crew"
"plane was delayed 1 hour"
"On both my flights to and from Cabo, my flights were over an hour delayed."
"They are misleading, rude and deceitful."
Pros: "Crew was friendly and accommodating The aircraft was clean"
Cons: "Food/Snack options Ability to connect Bluetooth to television"
Pros: "Amazing crew and pilot flew us around all bumps — was a very smooth flight."
Cons: "All was amazing"
Pros: "I love JetBlue service and the crew. Every time."
Pros: "Seats Social distancing"
Cons: "Nothing Was perfect"
Pros: "Very comfy seating. Polite flight crew."
Cons: "A cookie before landing I feel is a bit underwhelming. I preferred the warm bagel with cream cheese. Especially if you have to run off straight to work after landing. So maybe it sounds like a nit pick. But it would be nice to maybe have a choice of a cookie or bagel? Just a thought."
Pros: "Great crew. Z and Antonio were great!"
Cons: "The breakfast meal."
Cons: "Much shorter delay. A replacement plane brought in much sooner."
Pros: "The crew and leg room are really good compared to comparable flights on United, Delta or American. Especially love the power plug behind the seats."
Cons: "Couldn't watch any movies, and most of the DirectTV movies would not play. I was in seat 24 F, and 24 E had the same issue. They told us the reset the system, but it didn't help. Still, plenty of entertainment and on an actual screen on the back of the seat. So I consider it only a dissapointment on an otherwise good airline."
Pros: "Todo fue muy bien exelente"
Cons: "For a two hour tarmac wait could have served some snacks!"
Pros: "Boarding was reasonable, movies were ok and crew was attentive. Overhead space was good and leg room was satisfactory. Does seem to be a bit big than other airlines."
Cons: "Would prefer Seats to have been more comfortable. Difficult to place backpack under seat due to TV utility box. Snacks could have been better such as dried fruit, vegetable chips or herbal, decaf tea."
Pros: "JetBlue crew was awesome"
Cons: "this time around the whole experience was great"
Pros: "Boarding was a breeze. I was a little late and wanted an aisle seat even though I had no hope there was one available. The gate clerk was very pleasant and was able to move me."
Pros: "Boarding was seamless opposed to having a 40 min delay."
Cons: "Leaving at the scheduled time."
Pros: "The available movies were pretty good."
Cons: "The crew member serving the food was way too slow."
Cons: "The flight was over an hour late departing because of a light in the cockpit- that was the reason that was given."
Pros: "I liked the entertainment that was available."
Cons: "The boarding is very haphazard. Clusters of people just standing around waiting for their group to be called. So when your group is called there are already several people there wanting you to get behind them. Which doesn’t make sense since I’ve been there a whole 2 hours before all of them."
Pros: "My experiences flying with JetBlue have been consistently great! Delays happen & are of course out of the crew’s control, but offering free snacks while we waited & the efficient boarding process, along with the free movie & TV choices on the seat back screens, make the process great!"
Cons: "My only issues have been with LAX itself & staff there (nothing crazy, just less than stellar service & somewhat rude staff occasionally) but flying with JetBlue has been awesome."
Cons: "More complimentary food options given it’s a 6 and a half hour flight."
Pros: "Great service and amenities!!!"
Pros: "Great crew. Extra space seats are worth it. They added another flavor of pop chips!"
Cons: "I wish there were more movies offered. I love that they are there and there is live tv-but that offering could be improved."
Pros: "The colors"
Cons: "THERE ARE ONLY 1-2 STAFF MEMEBRS AT TERMINAL 5 JFK (busiest ailier in the world) for 309+ passengers an hour that’s not enough. I booked with you guys and paid extra money for worthless travels, but no. Never again with JetBlue"
Cons: "Very turbulent flight and overcrowded"
Pros: "The Agents at the counter in the terminal gate were courteous."
Cons: "My flight was delayed because an attendant had to be swapped out, then the replacement was stuck in traffic for an hour (why not have all attendants ready on-airport?). Comically, we taxied on the runway for over an hour, which caused more delays with the plane needing to be de-iced. Figured I'd put all that behind me, but then the flight experienced one of the worst turbulences I've been in. We jerked through the skies many times, and the pilots weren't reassuring. Thankfully we landed okay, but not after being late by multiple hours. Also, JetBlue needs to invest in its planes, esp. its Couch section. I felt like a pretzel with on room to breathe."
Pros: "Safe quick flight for the long journey despite delay in boarding and departure"
Cons: "Major delays not only going but returning with JetBlue. This was my first time flying them and I’m likely to never use them again. Poor customer service as no one was willing to help with WiFi set up on the way going since I’ve never flown them. Luckily I found 1 nice flight attendant and he helped point me in the right direction in set up. Overall not impressed with service and performance of this carrier."
Pros: "Free WiFi! Taking off and landing on time, smooth boarding, good snacks"
Cons: "The staff seemed a little tired but not unkind, just not psyched to be here."
Pros: "Pretty average JetBlue flight. I love the direct TV and wifi"
Cons: "Annoying and time consuming to discover that I couldn’t check in for my flight anywhere besides the counter at JFK because I had two layovers and that JetBlue and Hawaiian had completely different itineraries for me. And then when the flight attendant who checked me in mocked my 2 layover itinerary and said there was a direct flight to HNL from JFK leaving later that morning, she at least could have tried to sell me a seat on that flight, rather than rudely laugh at me “I guess you can only do what you can do” like I was too poor or something. That was annoying. I’m bored of the JetBlue snack selection it’s been the same for years."
Pros: "Cabin crew were great at looking after us and we had plenty of legroom in coach!"
Cons: "The entertainment selection was a bit limited and there was no wi-fi."
Pros: "Unpleasant. I requested some water, it arrived far too late. I stated I had diarrhea. The staff stated “Take your seat.” I stated I was under a doctors care for some injuries, I needed to be able to stretch my hip.” Once again the staff stated “take your seat.” The staff was rude, condescending, seemed annoyed and angry with having to do their job. I declare under penalty of perjury the formentioned is true and correct under the laws of the state of California. Karen Schuber"
Cons: "See above please."
Pros: "All our flights with jetblue were excellent"
Pros: "The plane left on time, the staff members were attentive and there was more leg room than on other planes."
Cons: "We were very happy when we got seats in rows 3 and 4 but by the time we boarded only 3 of the 4 carry on bags we had made it into the overhead compartments. We had no other checked bags so we had to go to baggage claim for one carry on. People were putting small bags that should go under the seats in the upper compartments."
Pros: "everything was good except that I didn’t like to pay for blanket"
Cons: "to pay for blanket"
Pros: "Literally the worst flight I’ve ever been on in my life."
Cons: "We were seated behind a woman who brought a sick cat into the flight. The stench of cat feces was overwhelming. When we addressed it with the staff, they were incredibly rude. I also shared that I had a very significant cat allergy. The staff continued to be incredibly rude, and eventually offered a single seat in the back, which would not accommodate the two of us. The woman next to us also expressed her extreme discomfort and was condescended and disrespected, as well. Shocking, miserable experience."
Pros: "Free WiFi was great, but wish I could sign in with my Amazon account instead of setting up TrueBlue."
Cons: "The food cart rushed by without asking if we wanted anything. Also not clear until after food purchase that free snacks would be available throughout the flight."
Pros: "Boarding was quick and easy, and they had lots of options for entertainment"
Cons: "The plane is very cramped. I am a very small person and I still felt like I couldn’t really move to get things under the seat in front of me. The crew also only came around with food once during the flight, and I happened to be sleeping then, so I didn not get a chance to have any food."
Pros: "I liked the staff because they kept checking on me to see if I was comfortable since I wasn't feeling well."
Cons: "I did not like it when they asked me If I wanted to wait for another plane until I felt better. When I really wanted them to asks how can we assist you and make sure your flight is well."
Pros: "I wanted to first say that Colleen is maybe my favorite flight attendant I have ever had! She was so sweet and let us take multiple snacks and was extremely accommodating, never seeming annoyed by any request. I loved the entertainment, having new movies I have never seen made the flight fly by! The seats were comfortable and roomy, with a nice pocket to hold the water bottle. Overall very impressed with JetBlue this time around!"
Cons: "A 2 year old child screamed approximately 4 of the 5 hours we were in the air. The crew should have brought it to the attention of the parents or asked that they take the child to the back of plane and try to calm him down ."
Pros: "We boarded right on time and the boarding process was smooth."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed three hours because of air conditioning malfunctioning on the plane. We sat on the tarmac for almost two and a half hours, and it must have been around 85 degrees on the plane. There was a lot of miscommunication about whether we would be switching aircraft. They finally told us to deplane because we were probably going to switch planes. After 15 minutes in the terminal, we reboarded the same plane. Got to LA 3 hours late so had to deal with horrible rush hour traffic, which we had hoped to avoid had we taken off on time."
Pros: "Crew were fine, boarding was easy. But on a 6 hour flight you have an expectation that the media will work, especially from Jet Blue since that’s what they build their business on."
Cons: "50% of the entertainment consoles were not working."
Cons: "TSA held me up with a 30 minute bag check so I arrived for an 11:30 AM flight at 11:16 AM. I was told that because I was a minute late they wouldn't let me on even though the plane was still in the runway and connected to the terminal. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the agent disappeared for 10 minutes while the plane took off. I then went to go speak to a customer service agent who wouldn't even look at me while I spoke. She actually started listening to and talking with another agent while I was talking to her. Then when I was finished, she started arguing with me until another agent said "he's not worth it." JetBlue just lost my business."
Pros: "Read some reviews regarding tardiness but our flights out of LAX and return from NY (go see US Open Tennis Championship) were either on time or early. On-board entertainment was great since we can watch LIVE matches from US Open on the return trip. However, you have to bring your own ear phone/head set otherwise it will cost some $$. Free WIFI too"
Pros: "On time (actually ahead of schedule0; really appreciate boarding from the back to front, so logical."
Cons: "Free coffee would have made it excellent!"
Pros: "Boarding was easy. I like the Dunkin Donuts coffee"
Cons: "My overhead light and tv we're both not working. The stewardess was rude when I brought it up. Told me to move to the next empty seat dismissively. I bought a window seat on purpose and did not want to move. My concerns were left unaddressed"
Pros: "Nothing. Regretted purchasing my flight with Sun Country would have much rather flown Delta. Worse than Spirit airlines."
Cons: "No COVID precautions. Definitely not 6 feet apart procedures. No cleaning nor sanitation done for seats. Delta at least provides hand sanitizer wipes. & has middle seats closed off due to COVID. Hate that they charge for even a carry on. Ridiculous. Should have flown Delta."
Pros: "Flight Crew was professional and pleasant for a full flight."
Cons: "Checking in was a nightmare. Long line and SLOW! Stood in line for over 2 hours - the tsa line that was longer only took 20 minutes. Many people were shut off from their flight due to Sun Country being so slow and they were not helpful to those that lost their flight. Counter staff was slow and many didn’t know what they were doing - had to wait for the manager to come walk them through checking in."
Pros: "The flight itself was fine."
Cons: "Crew seemed agitated and not very friendly."
Cons: "Cramped seating, limited overhead bin space, mediocre experience. Next time I’ll spend the extra money and fly Delta."
Pros: "It was utilitarian and got me from point a to be at a very good price."
Cons: "Smaller seats, no entertainment to speak of. No complimentary snacks."
Pros: "The flight was on time."
Cons: "The entertainment was useless. Just the page with a list of movies took forever to load and once started a movie, after many tires, it was buffering every 5 seconds for up to a minute each time. I tried 3 different devices (phone, tablet, laptop) none worked. My son said he had the same experience."
Pros: "On-line entertainment was ok. It would have been better if they could notify you more clearly in advance about how to download the information you need and to let you know that earphones are not provided."
Cons: "Seats were uncomfortable. Flight attendants were not particularly service oriented. For example, when I asked for a glass of water the flight attendant sighed and then got it. So, the result was fine but the manner was not friendly."
Pros: "Quick boarding"
Cons: "After quick boarding we waited 30min after departure time for luggage to be loaded"
Pros: "Arrived early"
Cons: "Crammed seats. Lousy snacks for food. No entertainment"
Pros: "Flight was on-time."
Cons: "Check in crew were robotic, lacked enthusiasm. Is management competent? Are they leading, or directing? There is a difference, and one is more effective than the other. If morale is low, if employee satisfaction is low on what is visible to the passengers; then I wonder about what passengers don't see: maintenance crews, safety, quality assurance. I heard lots of grumblings from other passengers about bag policy. Provide first class service to your employees, and they will provide first-class service to your customers."
Pros: "Desk staff member very helpful When departures was busy more staff were called immediately"
Cons: "Difficult to navigate online payment for extra baggage. Inconsistency about carry on sizes We paid for extra leg room in an exit row and we're given a very brief safety talk while 2 others asked to sit in an exit row and were given no instructions"
Pros: "Crew was nice"
Cons: "I paid for my ticket, but when I went to check in the day before my flight there were fees I had to pay that I was not aware of and had no choice but to do so. They do not offer and free carryon bag. If you pay online you have to pay an extra $30 for a carryon item or $20 for a checked bag. These fees apply to your destination and your flight home as well. On top of that, you have to pay for your seat. All in all I was not happy with my experience with sun country. I am normally not someone who writes poor reviews, but this was definitely the worst airline I’ve ever used."
Pros: "I used to fly sun country every other month for work. It was affordable, reliable, great customer service. They were recently bought out by Apollo Investment Group and they have gone in serious decline since then. I will never fly this airline again. Hidden fees, poor customer service, 4 hour hold time to speak to an agent, *carry-on fees*-- just a bad airline at this point."
Pros: "Direct flight."
Cons: "Not allowing a personal item and a carry on bag for free. Seats were uncomfortable. No free entertainment (like on Delta flights). Boarded and didn't take off for another 50 minutes due to slow loading of baggage."
Pros: "I loved the fact that they provided us with food vouchers and a ticket voucher when the flight was late. Thank you! The crude is extremely friendly"
Pros: "Excellent customer service"
Cons: "Being given new seats even though we had to pay extra to get them in the first place. Being charged for luggage when the website wasn’t clear about this matter."
Pros: "The crew were nice and professional and efficient"
Cons: "We had to deplane and switch to another aircraft after boarding was complete the first time. We arrived almost two hours late, in the middle of the night, I was really hungry by then. Some complimentary snacks or something would have gone a long way to making it up to us. I had screaming children behind me and I know that's not entirely the airline's fault, butthe delay contributed significantly to the children's misery and thus ours, and the in-flight announcements were way too loud; they woke them up abruptly and started tantrums in several places throughout the cabin."
Pros: "Nothing. Was horrible. Rude people work at the counter. She think to high heaven."
Cons: "Hated everything about it. Sun country air is the worst airline I've ever flown on. AVOID!!! Could not handle simple requests. Over charged and was a terrible over all experience and ruined my whole vacation to be honest"
Cons: "No free video screen"
Pros: "The gal next to us was an employee of sun country and she was extremely nice! Also the front desk people were accommodating"
Pros: "Crew was great!"
Cons: "Plane was so dirty. We were in the way back and there was food fingerprints all over the window, seat and table."
Pros: "Friendly and responsive flight attendants, one of few direct flights so definitely a plus"
Cons: "Lack of communication from the gate and flight deck about a delay before we left MSP. While the flight crew was trying to keep announcements to a minimum in board, a little bit of information would have been reassuring."
Cons: "I don't like hearing that Suncountry is going to be an airline that charges a fee for everything like Spirit airlines. I heard that this will begin as of January 1st. Suncountry is a great airline. Why would you change that? It's disappointing."
Pros: "They tried to separate me from my son in order to accommodate a passenger using a wheel chair. I accidently found out just before boarding. My son was NOT having it!! They changed our seats, putting us together again, without a problem or negative attitude. Total professionalism in an awkward situation!"
Cons: "They kept making me check my bags when I didn't need to and then had me wait for one and a half hours to get my bags from the baggage claim! They also have the longest layovers imaginable. I had to find out what gate my flight was taking off in at the airport, they never tell you ahead of time. The staff is ok but there was a stewardess on every flight (4) that had serious attitude. I only chose them for economic reasons and wish I had just paid more for a better flight experience."
Pros: "We arrived in Manila this morning April 11 from Minneapolis and we didn't get our luggage up to this time, they said that Suncountry didn't check in our luggage to China Airlines which is our connecting flight to Taipei. This is unacceptable to me, all our clothes and gifts are there, now we still don't know when will our luggage arrive."
Pros: "It was a direct flight."
Cons: "We were late departing and arriving, which created a problem for a meeting I had to attend. On top of already being late the exiting of the aircraft was poor. No announcement was made for wheel chair people to wait until the end, and naturally held up the exiting of the aircraft. This was my first experience on Sun Country and the flight attendants allowed people to use the bathroom in the front of the aircraft, but at hour 3.00 when i walked up to use it - i was then told to go to the back. After I watched many people for HOURS freely use it. Not just when the cart was in the aisle either. Just not consistent in their directions and follow through making it confusing for passengers. There was no wifi, so I couldn't work and there was no entertainment on board. I won't be flying Sun country again."
Cons: "getting onto bus, riding around tax I ways and run ways to het to terminal without escalator , old people had to climb stairs, added an hour to flight time."
Pros: "Our flight on suncountry was great, the only problem was that the seats on suncountry are so close together, no legroom at all."
Cons: "When checking in our luggage the woman asked several times how many bags and we responded several times 2.my self and my wife. My wife even held up her hand indicating she was checking her bag. The woman charged me the initial bag fee of 25.00 then charged me again for an additional bag at 35.00. That was wrong since there was 3of us flying."
Pros: "The crew was very friendly and pleasant.I did a lay over that broke up my six hour flight.the seats were a little uncomfortable.."
Cons: "The fact that most passengers brought on their small suitcase which took up the time in seating"
Pros: "It was a smooth check in and the flight times were accurate. This flight had less passengers so we had more room in between passengers."
Pros: "It was fast check in and we were on our way to Los Angeles crew and staff helpful and friendly."
Cons: "Not enough personal space toooooo crowded and stuffy."
Pros: "Simple boarding, decent seats. No frills but much more value and comfort than other regional/LCCs e.g. Spirit, Frontier, etc."
Cons: "No free or basic entertainment."
Cons: "The check-in experience is rough for small airlines like this at LAX."
Pros: "Sitting in an exit row allowed for lots of leg room and boarding early with the first class passengers. The price of the flight was very reasonable."
Cons: "Not being able to recline my seat, and no fancy in-flight entertainment"
Pros: "Awesome prices. T,he gate crew was informative and helpful with the flight status and early check in procedures. Good food choices and variety, and prices weren't terribly out of line"
Cons: "Flight crew didn't give many updates for sights or geography, if at all. Seats are probably the smallest i've seen, the the middle seats don't recline at all which is uncomfortable."
Pros: "Boarding was very smooth, gave early boarding to the military, 737-800's,"
Cons: "FA's were a little matter of factly."
Pros: "We were delayed leaving by an hour and got no updates until 30 minutes in, at which point we were advised "paperwork was waiting to be completed". Then when we finally arrived there was no gate for us to unboard from for at least another 20 minutes."
Cons: "No communication of delay as well as why not use one of the 5 empty gates available in a situation like that?! My boyfriend had to waste gas and circle the airport nonstop"
Pros: "i honestly had never heard of your airline, but when i got stuck in Minniapolis do to the delta meltdown last week, i found a ticket home on sun,, your price was excellent and the service was fantastic in first class, Nice people great food great price considering i was in first class for less than any other airline in coach thanks Don Dokken CEO DokkenEnterprises inc"
Pros: "I like the staff, the clean planes, the on time service"
Cons: "I fly Sun country all the time (every month) and I do not have any negative experiences."
Pros: "Please read thoroughly"
Cons: "The whole experience"
Pros: "The flight was on time, the ground crew were very helpful and friendly. When I landed at LAX there was no wheelchair. I had to wait for at least 30 minutes for a wheelchair. I missed my shuttle and after arriving at 4:45, the shuttle did not come until after 6:30."
Cons: "The grounds people at LAX were not as nice and friendly as the flight crew and the ground crew in MN. Certainly not as helpful. After waiting for my wheelchair which had been pre arranged, I missed my shuttle and had to wait almost 2 hours for another shuttle."
Cons: "I tried checking in online multiple times, but it kept saying there was an error. I would then call the customer service line and sit on the phone for a very long time until finally hanging up because no one answered. I was thinking about extending my trip but I couldn't because I couldn't ket ahold of anyone."
Pros: "Booked this flight months before I took it on KAYAK. Got to the airport and saw the sign that said "ask about our affordable upgrades". I asked and it was totally affordable. I bumped myself up to 1st class on both flights for $280 total and it was absolutely amazing. The flight staff was so attentive, the food was great and they were not shy about making sure I was getting enough to drink. Overall, this was a great airline that seemed to actually care about the people on the plane as opposed to other 1st class experiences I have had where people try to get the most out of you for the least amount of effort. Sky Country took the time to make me feel like I was worth it and that made all the difference. Would 100% recommend."
Pros: "I had never heard of Sun Country before, and thought I would be in for an uncomfortable Spirit Airlines type of experience. I was pleasantly surprised that the seats were comfortable, there was room for my carry-ons, and everyone was pleasant."
Cons: "I just acquired a Known Traveler Number for TSA Pre-Check. When I checked in at the airport, the self-service screen showed my KTN, but printed the boarding pass without saying PreCheck on it. I didn't notice until I was at security and was no longer able to get it corrected. I was told by the TSA person (not a Sun Country employee) that it was "random," but surely your system can factor KTNs into boarding passes automatically, especially since I (and other passengers) paid for the DHS enrollment. I was also hoping for electrical outlets in the seat so I could use my laptop."
Pros: "Timely departure and arrival Aircraft was relatively clean."
Cons: "The event I flew to attend got changed, so I had to change the dates of my 'Going To' and 'Coming Home' flights. It was not my fault, but I got horribly overcharged to change my flights. I am not working right now nor do I get Unemployment; I booked the flights months ago while I was still working. In that situation, the airline could help a bit more financially. Airline crew going out was courteous and helpful, but there was one attendant on the flight back who was frankly rude to me and bullied me. I do wish airline food was a bit more reasonably priced, and cash payment was accepted."
Pros: "I got home safely and (more or less) on time."
Cons: "Flight attendants were mostly rude. They nickel and dime the passengers ($8 or more for "entertainment modules"), aisles were very narrow; I felt like a sardine. Bathrooms were not kept clean and getting to them was a challenge because the crew wouldn't let us wait in the galley and you weren't supposed to crowd the aisle...."
"It was great"
"I’m sure it’s due to Covid but I feel the staff could have been more friendlier. They seemed very shy but overall they were very pleasant and nice"
"Extra row seats are comfortable and spacious. Flight was delayed"
"I had to cancel and kayak did not allow me to cancel? It was expensive and frustrating"
Cons: "I was delayed for 7 hours. This airline was the worst I have ever travelled with."
Cons: "I asked for a bottle of water because i needed to take my meds and I was given the run around and after i payed i Was given the bottle of water followed by we are about to land in half an hour are you sure?? Of course im sure i need to take my meds. I am a veteran and have to take my meds on time."
Pros: "Nice crew and flight was mostly on time."
Cons: "I had to pay double my ticket price in hidden fees - very frustrating and unexpected. Also, no drinks/snacks on board and no entertainment."
Pros: "on time, ahead of schedule"
Pros: "Crew was nice enough"
Cons: "Pricing for carry-on and checked luggage is criminal. Not bad for short stays but nowhere near worth it for longer trips or times you want to bring anything back."
Cons: "Flight was completely full not one seat available. One guy did not wear a mask the entire flight and when attendants walked by he would fake put it over his mouth. How did they not notice!? It’s not my job to tell him but finally after 2 hours I broke down. They need to be looking at passengers mouths regularly!!"
Pros: "41 minute flight"
Cons: "Customer service"
Pros: "Crew was very nice."
Cons: "Seats are a bit uncomfortable"
Cons: "Social distancing"
Pros: "Ticket price was amazing"
Cons: "We arrived early but were not allowed to disembark early"
Pros: "Price and availability of flight was good."
Cons: "The seating is cramped and uncomfortable but that’s not why you fly somewhere."
Cons: "The seats were not super comfortable, nor did they recline. No snacks, drinks or even a small bottle of water was served. We thought that the seating arrangement would take Covid 19 into consideration, & have the passengers spread out a little bit, but no, it was a full flight, we were sitting right beside other passengers, both on the outgoing flight & the return flight. We dislike that there is a fee for carry on luggage."
Pros: "We got to the destination"
Cons: "Not paying for hard seats. packed in like sardines."
Cons: "Not to pay for drinks"
Cons: "could have provided wi-fi or entertainment. Just a flight with a seat with no frills."
Pros: "Very good / inexpensive / clean /"
Cons: "Where do I start? The $45 dollar charge for one bag is ridiculous. The charge of $2.99 for a can coke and the seats do not recline at all."
Pros: "Actually nothing!"
Cons: "The airline stewardess were very rude and lacked customer service except for Dawn she was very accommodating apologizing for her co workers!"
Pros: "Wish I could think of something to write here."
Cons: "The on-line purchasing process did not function correctly. Was forced to call customer service and the rep I spoke with kept confusing departing and returning flights. The plane was late. My special zone 2 only boarding time was skipped and lumped with zone 3. The plane then had to wait for additional maintenance. The plane appeared to be... ancient. "Unlimited" coffee... was limited to two cups. A kid stuck a sex toy to the interior ceiling of the aircraft and despite a 10" purple silicon dildo hanging down, no staff member said a word."
Pros: "Everything was great except the person sitting one person away from me didn’t stop talking the whole two hours. If there was an open door I would’ve thought about shoving her out. Just kidding ha ha"
Cons: "No snacks"
Cons: "While I was on my way to the airport, I received an email (3 hours before the aircraft was scheduled to take off) stating that the flight had been cancelled. I tried talking to a Frontier representative but every time I called their customer service number it was all automated. I was unable to speak with someone regarding the situation. I ended up having to spend $600 to book another flight with American Airlines due to my need to be in El Paso, Texas today. I still have not been able to speak with anyone at this point."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing."
Cons: "You get *1* carry on. A 2nd carry on or checked bag is **$45.** The most unreasonable and expensive bag price in the industry. Highway robbery. Who the hell flies anywhere with only one checked bag? I mean, seriously. It is an unreasonable expectation to put it mildly. Second of all, *you have to PAY to select a goddamn seat.* What the hell? Who the hell does that? *0* other airlines CHARGE you for the pleasure of picking a seat. That is insane. So, that is $18 at a bare minimum to choose the most inexpensive class of seats on the plane. Third of all, **you have to pay for ALL drinks of any kind.* Free water? Hell no. Free sodas, juice, coffee, tea, etc? Hell no. You have to pay for all of it. So then I was dehydrated the whole flight, which was very unpleasant and put me in an even more foul mood. The way they nickle and dime you on this godforsaken airline is criminal. So, To Review, if I had flown round trip it would cost *at a minimum* $18 + $18 + $45 + $45 ($126 goddamn dollars) in fees that no other airline in the industry charges. That is insane; and that happens to be approximately what I paid for my flight. So for all unreasonable charges I could have had a bonus flight somewhere. I will never, ever fly on this godforsaken airline ever again; and please believe I will tell every single one of my friends and (gigantic) family that not only does this crappy airline get 0 Stars from me, but they should under no circumstances ever fly on this horrible airline ever. Pick literally *any* other airline over this hot nonsense."
Pros: "The dirt cheap, I can't believe an airline can operate at this low an airfare and still turn a profit-ticket prices"
Cons: "The hidden checked-baggage fees that were almost half the cost of the actual ticket for one bag. The non reclining seats. The lack of legroom. The feeling of cattle being herded into a slaughterhouse. The lack of friendliness with the RDU and MCO gate/ticket counter agents. The cost of having to pay $12 to ensure I sit beside my 5 year old son on the flight. Besides a free seat belt, having to pay for everything else under the sun. Surprised AC was free. Not even an in-flight magazine or barf bag. Which is exactly what I feel like doing after giving you my money......"
Pros: "Was nice that they waited for 21 passengers instead of taking off on time. We’ll all get home a bit later now, but I’m sure that really makes all of their experiences better."
Cons: "The stewardess was quite rude and short tempered. It just put a different glow on the whole experience. It really made me miss flying Delta."
Pros: "On the flight was OK. The flight crew was kind and friendly despite everyone being a little annoyed at the boarding process. Gotta say though I feel a little nickel and dimed on Frontier as you actually have to pay $3 for a can of coke that costs 25 cents. It doesn't take much to offer a beverage service other than water to make the flight a bit more enjoyable, but getting charged for everything makes things more stressful than needed."
Cons: "I got to the gate 5 minutes before boarding and there was no one there. I walked around for a bit came back and asked some flight attendants working the flight what time they were actually going to board and they couldn't be bothered to help telling me to check my ticket and that is when the flight will board (the time on the ticket was already 10 minutes ago)! After an hour went by and a very large crowd formed at the gate and absolutely NO update or any communication as to when boarding would be they finally started boarding. Very disorganized boarding process. Just wish someone would have provided an update or something, so I could have gotten something to eat instead of hanging around the gate for an hour."
Cons: "My flight from LAX-DEN was delayed. Ended up missing my flight, as well as my flight from DEN-CIN. We as passengers were not told where to go (we waited two hours to hear any kind of news). We were told that the Frontier staff would know what was going on at the DEN airport once we arrived, but they did not. We then waited another hour to be told where to go. I was given a voucher for my hotel, food and transportation. However, my transportation voucher did not work. I waited over an hour for a bus that never came. My transportation in the AM back to the airport was not covered either. I ended up paying money out of pocket both times when it should've been free of charge. The staff on the airplanes were OK, although at times unprofessional."
Cons: "Had to wait 30min on the tarmac at 930pm at a not busy airport Frontier in general is uncomfortable"
Pros: "Crew was nice"
Cons: "Delayed for over 2 hours and offered nothing to make up for inconvenience."
Pros: "Waited for 50 mins on tarmak after being told we were going to be 30 mins early. Moved meetings and then had to move again. Not okay"
Pros: "The plane boarded and left on time and arrived on time."
Cons: "Almost everything! I chose this flight because of the price. However, upon check-in, there were three big extras : checked bags were $40 each, and any carry-on that could not fit below a seat was another $45! The icing on the cake wss that we had to pay for seats. The cheapest were an additional $5 each, and seats up front were $15 (although these were no different from those in the rear of the plane.) When we landed, the flight attendant announced that we were 20 minutes early and that we needed to "remember that the next time when we are 20 minutes late." As it turned out, we could not deplane for another 20 minutes anyway. I will not fly this airline again."
Cons: "Upon boarding the plane one of the flight attendant asked me if i had a vest or identification for my service animal. Though I had verified on my boarding pass i had a service animal she continued to question me whether or not my dog was a service animal. I told her that the American Disability Act does not require me to show identification to anyone, that the only thing she is legally to ask is what type of service animal and what she is trained to do. Anybody can go on google and get a service animal vest and identification by many false companies without even presenting their dog to someone. She threatened to call the captain and i told her to go ahead. Instead she came back with what im guessing was a frontier handbook showing me that i was require to have a vest and id. I told her that that was not correct and she swore up and down that was federal law... a frontier handbook.. federal law. The american disibiliy act is federal. She humilated me in fromt if everyone in the back of the plane. I was si upset. I have hearing aids because of my hearing loss. My service animal is a hearing dog and i take her everywhere with me because she alerts me to things around me that i cannot hear. She is my doorbell, my ringtone, my alarm when i cant hear those things. She eventually let it go after humilating me and completly upsetting me. No one with a service animal should ever have to go through that, my 6 hour flight was the longest flight in my life. Was so uncomfortable being there after that run in with her. I had already checked her in as a service animal at the front gate whybshe felt the need to get in my face about it, i dont know! Trust me, i will be following up with this."
Pros: "Once we actually got in the air the flight was fine. Didn't take too long and the crew were lovely in getting us what we needed."
Cons: "We were delayed because of weather first at the gate and then for almost 2 hours after we boarded but were left on the tarmac unable to take off. This is the part that bothered me the most. Perhaps the airline didn't know we would be held that long but on the plane once they told us the crew also got a bit annoyed after 2 hours when everyone needed to get up to use the bathroom which should have been expected since they literally had us waiting and going no where for that entire time. This situation could have been handled better and communicated more clearly upfront to the passengers. It probably didn't make a lot of sense to board us to only have us wait another 2+ hour stretch."
Pros: "New planes and soft landings."
Cons: "Both flights coming and going were delayed by an hour and the gates kept changing without notice."
Pros: "Newer airplane."
Cons: "I felt anytime an employee spoke to me they were asking me for money. Money for bags, money for seat, money for a soda, etc. Frontier will now be my very last option."
Pros: "Nothing I can think of."
Cons: "Ridiculously little leg room. Tray table the size of a kindle. Metal backing on seats left me feeling less safe. Found out I'd be charged for carry on when I got to airport. Tried to pay online so I'd get the cheaper fare (upon return), but the site made it impossible to choose the add carry on option. Ended up costing me an additional $90. Also, I was not allowed to use kiosk for check in. It told me I was required to go to check in through service rep. No line at kiosk. Huge line for service rep. Cost me precious little time I had left to spend with friend before flights left. I was also bothered by the moving around of people during boarding. They asked for 8 people to volunteer to be moved to the front of plane. But the open exit row seat...that'll be an additional $50. Ridiculous."
Pros: "Only thing I liked was the cheaper price, but I am thinking it wasn't really worth it."
Cons: "Our plane boarded an hour late. Didn't give any explanation until it was the time we should have taken off. Sat on the runway at our destination which I understand was not the airlines fault, but still not a lot of forthcoming information. Felt like there was even less leg room than on a Southwest plane and I am petite. Can't imagine a big person or tall person sitting in those seats. The half trays were of little use except for to put your drink on. Yes, it was a little cheaper that we didn't have luggage, but I think I'll go back to Southwest."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing, I hated everything about this flight."
Cons: "I've never experienced a worse flight. The people checking our bags were extremely rude, didn't even make eye contact. Our plane arrived 1 hour late. You would think the bad news would end there, right? Nope! When we were all seated, they were having problems with the computer, that itself took 1.5 hours. Our flight was over 2.5 hours late! Anyways, when we landed, they told us to go to carasel A. After standing next to carasel A for 20 minutes, we find out that we had to, in fact, go to carasel B. I have never been this disappointed with a flight in my entire life, and I travel a lot. I will call the frontier supervisor and talk to them regarding this matter personally. I will not just let this one go."
Pros: "Fares. Toll free customer service was very helpful in rescheduling my daughter's flight."
Cons: "Wheelchair service at RDU not contracted with Frontier! Rude flight attendant, making inappropriate and sarcastic announcements! Understaffed check in counter = long delay = delayed departure :("
Pros: "Crew was fine."
Cons: "HORRIBLE non-reclining seats that I paid $74 round trip for. The more $ reclining seats in rows 1-3 with normal legroom were sold out. Shite airline. Hope they fold soon."
Pros: "This was my first time on Frontier. Like any other airline the process from getting on the plane to my destination was just like any other. I had low expectations, as I do with nearly every flight I go on and was pleased by the fact that nothing was truly below my expectations."
Cons: "I'm fine with the lack of entertainment on a flight considering most people bring laptops and tablets and other ways to keep themselves occupied. I never pay for in-flight food or beverage because of the prices but was kind of surprised nothing was complimentary. Not shocking by any means considering the price of the ticket. I was under the assumption there two separate fees for baggage, one if you preferred to check a bag and one if you carried on a bag. Had I of known that my carry-on would be checked I would have brought a larger luggage container to get the most for my money. Again, though, hard to beat the price of the actual ticket."
Cons: "This Airline is terrible. The quality of service and actual planes is not worth the "cheap" price. I won't be flying with frontier again"
Pros: "There wasn't anything clearly that I liked. There were some things that I was able to tolerate however."
Cons: "Although the price of the flight itself was cheaper than other airlines it's really not worth it. For one, you often pay a lot more than the stated price of the flight. You pay for such "extras" as obtaining preboarding seats online, checking luggage at the terminal (instead of online), obtaining seats that recline, obtaining seats with "extra legroom" (for a mere $50 one way), on board nonalcoholic beverages and even water were extra. In addition the cost for carry-ons and extra luggage was considerably higher than other airlines. Frontier doesn't coordinate with TSA, so your TSA preboarding clearance is worthless. But worst of all were the seats. Very little padding and the nonstop flight of 4 1/2 to 5 hours was really misery. Of course you could bring on a seat cushion with you, but that would cost extra.. Even with all of this, I probably saved a few bucks my flying Frontier. But really, life's too short to see how much misery I can put up with just to save a few dollars. I won't be flying this air airline again. Frontier might work for young healthy men and women who are taking short brief trips, who don't carry any luggage and who don't mind sitting on a seat that feels like a wooden bench."
Pros: "The crew was really nice. Plane took off on time and arrived early. Smooth flight."
Cons: "So bare bones as to make you feel almost unsafe, like you would probably be charged a safety premium if you wanted to ensure no turbulence. The only thing offered to you if you don't pay for it is water. Frontier also opts not to participate in TSA Pre-Check, which would be a small fee to them but would save much aggravation for their customers. You will be forced to sit through a 5-minute (seriously) announcement about why you should sign up for their credit card, then get reminded about it twice before you land -- if they are seeing the flight as an opportunity to run a commercial, you should at least get something for it! I think the carry-on policy is ridiculous -- however, I brought on my backpack, which fit under the seat in front of me, and then when everybody was clearly boycotting the overhead bins I just put it up there anyway. Zero entertainment options on my flight so come prepared."
Pros: "Not much to say about the flight...it was a standard coach-class flight. At least they got me my drinks when I wanted them."
Cons: "I felt deceived about the price. Like probably most people, I shopped around for a ticket, and Frontier appeared to have the cheaper price. I was shocked to find i had to pay for a carry-on, and more shocked i had to pay for a seat. So, in total - post-purchase, I had to spend another $150, roughly 46% more than the ticket price I booked. I get it...the state of the airlines, paying for baggage is becoming a thing. but this was just another level, without warning. it was a bait and switch. I won't fly Frontier again."
Cons: "The flight crew was horrible"
Cons: "People around me kept taking off their masks. The crew corrected them twice, but I think they could have done a better job of it."
Cons: "I caught COVID from the other passengers. They were obnoxiously drunk, vulgar, and distinctly terrible."
Cons: "Lo peor no se lo recomiendo a nadie , me cobraron 71 uds por la maleta de mano y dos mascaras !"
Cons: "I paid extra to pick my seat. My row was not full and before take off they put a rather large man in the middle seat of my row. I told the attendant why did she choose this row when there are so many open seats. She was rude and said - this is the seat I have chosen and that is final. The mad DID NOT pay like I did to pick his seat. He just banked on getting a randomly selected good seat or the attendant to help get a new seat. WHY DID I PAY EXTRA when other can just choose their own seat. This makes no sense and was the last straw for me for Spirit. They nickel and dime you - but it really doesn't matter."
Pros: "Ticket cost was low and the crew from Ohare to LAX was great"
Cons: "Our fault for not researching more but baggage fees were extremely high! My husband planned on saving $$$ and packed in a carryon but they wanted to charge him more to carry on than to check? I thought my weight allowance was 50 lbs (like most other airlines). It’s 40lbs otherwise they charge an extra $30!!!!! Not impressed. No complimentary food, snacks or meal on a 4 hr flight. Seats were cheap-didn’t even recline and not Much leg room. Bottom line: if you want a cheap uncomfortable airline go for it. Otherwise pay the little bit extra and go with a mainstream airline for more comfort and perks"
Pros: "Just one flight attendant on my rebooking"
Cons: "That the crew member went out of her way and got me taken off the plane after I ran from check in to the terminal to make the boarding. I was out of shape and I at every right before I started running the marathon to the gate, I got in the plane panting and sweating breathing hard, so of course I felt sick after I ran since I had a full stomach of food and I needed to purge. Because I ate, ran a long distance with two bags in my arms, out of shape, and purging the food after long strenuous attempt to get on the plane, I make it. They then escort me off. They just rebook my flight. No compensation for even my taxi that I had to take now 3 times to the air port. Unbelievable."
Pros: "I liked how easy it was to board the plane, but that’s because I paid an extra $7 to be in zone one. That was the only thing I liked other than the flight landed safely."
Cons: "I don’t like that I had to pay $55 to have a carry-on. I travel light for those reasons, and if I’m going to pay extra for a bag I might as well check it and get to take my toothpaste with me. I don’t like that I paid $27 to be in the exit row. There was no tray table on the seat in front of me, or anywhere for my usage. There is no headphone jack. You shouldn’t even ask if I enjoy the entertainment because they don’t offer anything, not even for the people that pay extra money. Also don’t like my seat didn’t recline or have an armrest and overly obese couple that they squeezed in next to me took up all the space of the row. What’s the point of paying extra for comfort, when you get less than the guy who paid nothing and is in a middle seat, who I’m sure he was uncomfortable and miserable as well. I also don’t like that you have to pay for water!! Who makes you pay for water!? Not even the peanuts or the pretzels were complimentary… Absolutely never ever flying with this airline ever again! The cheap airfare was definitely not worth the lack of professionalism and being taken advantage of to have to pay for every extra thing that should be expected in regular travel."
Pros: "The only up side is that I eventually got home... :("
Cons: "When I purchased my ticket I paid extra for an isle exit row seat. On the day of my flight I got an email plenty early that the flight had been delayed an hour with no explanation why, which stinks. Once on the plane we found out that the reason we were delayed was because they changed the planes that morning and we needed to wait for an extra stewardess to get to the airport bc of the plane change. This is HORRIBLE planning, if you don't have the staff don't change the plane!! Also because of the plane change my seat was no longer in an exit row. When I explained to the stewardess that I paid extra for my seat that was supposed to be in an exit row I was told that I needed to return to my seat and they will fix it after they are done boarding. Once everyone was on the plane they told me that I was "lucky" because there was still a middle seat in an exit row available... Again I had PAID EXTRA for an ISLE EXIT ROW seat when I purchased the ticket but now I am lucky they can seat me in the last exit tow seat available. When I brought up the fact that I shouldn't have to complain to get the seat that I had already paid for the stewardess gave me attitude like I should be grateful for whatever they give me. Then she passed me off to another gentleman who didn't care about hearing what my issue was he just wanted the plane to take off already. I felt very disrespected by all the Spirit employees once on the plane. Spirit in general is very shady because if I hadn't brought up the fact that I paid extra for my exit row they would have just let me pay the extra money for a normal seat."
Pros: "- Flight attendants were nice. They deserve a raise, since your CEO makes $7 million a year. - The outstanding pilots got us to LAX safely. They deserve a raise, since your CEO makes $7 million a year."
Cons: "- The seats were not comfortable - The seats don't recline back (seriously CEO Robert L. Fornaro? You won't invest in reclining seats? wow that's pathetic) - Spirit won't even offer free beverages (even water) after I paid over $500 for a ticket? (seriously? That make's your airline look so pathetically greedy/cheap) - The fact that you have "Entertainment" as a category, yet there is no entertainment of any kind (in-flight movies, etc.) - The fact that CEO Robert L. Fornaro makes over $7 million a year. He's grossly overpaid...someone should tell the Board of Directors."
Pros: "This flight had more legroom than ANY flight that I had taken in years. I'm not sure if I just got lucky and landed in an upgraded seat or if that is standard on that plane, but it was great! This crew was also one of the best I have encountered. The cabin was very cold, but as soon as I asked the attendant to turn up the heat, she happily did, and I was more comfortable. She then came back to check on me to make sure I was better. Then... when I was going into the bathroom to brush my teeth, she stopped me and insisted that I take take the fresh, unused portion of a water bottle to use-- so as not to rely on the "plane" water. I would never had thought of such a thing-- but she was right, and for that, I was safer and more comfortable. Both attendants were also immediately at the ready with unlimited hand sanitizer after my bathroom experience. These kinds of things show me that they were pre-prepared to go above and beyond for my comfort and well being-- that is RARE in the airline industry, and I definitely appreciated those extra steps. Please look up their names from my itinerary, and give them the credit they deserve!!! All of my gate attendants were great too."
Cons: "Both of my flights that day were late, but honestly, I do believe that was due to the weather--- so I was not upset. The HARD sales pitch for bags and extras was excessive. There was no food or entertainment, so that's why I gave them a 1"
Cons: "Email spam. Poor customer service. Delays all the time"
Cons: "Please do not use FlightNetwork as a third party booking service anymore. When I first booked my ticket through them, after finding the deal on kayak, they sent an email saying that the flight booking was pending. I had to call them to confirm they had actually booked the flight. Then they mispelled my email so I didn't receive a confirmation email from spirit until I called the airline directly. And then I found out that not only had FlightNetwork collected $20 for their poor services they had charged me for my flight in addition to spirit charging me for my flight. I was doubly charged for the same flight and was only alerted to it because I was skeptical of FlightNetwork's business practices and decided to double check my bank account. I am now in the process of getting a refund from FlightNetwork. I urge you to discontinue business with them as this experience seems to be characteristic of their company. My partner's flight was booked incorrectly and FlightNetwork's track record on Yelp is incorrigible."
Pros: "The fact that there was a nonstop flight from PHL to LAX at a reasonable time of day."
Cons: "When we arrived, it seemed Spirit was understaffed. There was a long line at check-in, and no bag drop. The attendants seemed stressed, understandably. We were seated in the second to last row, in front of three unaccompanied minors. The flight attendants were doing their best to make sure the kids behaved, but they were incredibly disruptive. My wife and I agreed: unless Spirit has a deal that's too good to afford, we will not be flying with them again. What you may save initially, you pay for in quality of service, comfort, and convenience."
Pros: "Email update about change of gate."
Cons: "Spirit is not forthcoming on website about the extra charges prior to booking the flights, and the charges go up substantially at the airport. There was 45 minute wait time at the baggage claim. The seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced in 50 years of flying. There is also not nearly enough leg room between rows. Charging $65 for a small piece of carry on luggage is disgusting. Not having any water free of charge is not healthy for the passengers on a 4.5 hour flight. The flight attendants discouraged anyone from standing or moving around, also not good for one's health."
Pros: "Flight attendants were a cut above -- calm, charming and very helpful as opposed to the surly hall monitors typical of most budget most airlines."
Cons: "Aware of "hidden fees" I checked all of my boxes, checked in online in advance, paid for bags in advance, and when I got there, gate agent says bags were not paid for... BS. I entered credit card and paid. Apparently payment did not go through. Would NOT have been an issue at all had I not been charged $10 more for the same check-in. What a racket. Even when I tried to avoid surprise fees, they got me. Same thing happened to another passenger. Totally unethical. No benefit of the doubt given. Unreal. It destroyed what would have been an overall good experience on Spirit."
Cons: "My flight was delayed by over three hours on Sunday traveling from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Flight delays happen but there was zero communication from anyone at the airport let alone anyone at the customer service desk. They also changed our gate several times, which led people going back and forth completely confused and upset without anyone there to answer questions or help explain where we should be, etc. This was a terrible experience and I will not be flying Spirit again and will encourage friends and co-workers to do the same."
Cons: "Paid $50 to check a computer they told me was too big for a carry-on. Computer was sent on a direct flight way before I was getting to my destination(instead of on my connection) and was left in an unattended area. They told me it was "most likely stolen" and asked why I didn't take it on the plane. Your gate agent told me it was too big!!!! This was the answer I got after 3 days of investigating myself. I was told various stories like "it got stuck at security" and "it never got on the plane" until I got home and went directly to the baggage office and asked them on my own. The kid that actually tagged it said his supervisor told him to send it direct. Sounds like they set things up to get stolen. I will be filing a complaint and claim."
Cons: "I felt a ripp off affter when I found oute that I hadto pay 165.00 for bagage in order tu fly my furst reaction is what gotme here my guife bought the tikets I will never use this company again and I have share the story to all may friends relatives family members after surbey the c e o owners protocols make mi feel that I must stay away from this institution this is very harmful to any human I just want to be treated the way you treat your loved ones becouse we R humans, and humans never get close to people that confuses lies and hurts them ."
Pros: "Efficient boarding is the only good thing I can say."
Cons: "The crew was nice but pushy. On both flights they kept focusing on people's bags under their chairs with unnecessary persistence. Since Spirit doesn't really offer anything at all they just stood at the front of the plane after flying through with the cart that only offered something you have to pay for. Then at the end, annoyed everyone trying to sell them the credit card. Both flights were over an hour delayed due to missing mechanic paperwork. The flight was not cheaper then other flights but matched up to the times I needed - (After the delays, not really) and so I booked. Totally forgot I was going to get charged an outrageous amount for my carry-on. This airline is a crock. AVOID."
Pros: "We were treated terribly by your airline and Flight Network. The flight schedule changed and no one told us."
Pros: "Nothing, there is nothing good about this airline,"
Cons: "On your best day you will pay money for every little thing carry-on, seat assignments even water. But this last experience was the worst, when checking flight status our flight was delayed 45 min, when we arrived at the airport it was only delayed 15 and we were denied entry to the flight BC we were only 40 min early not 45. Even though we were not check bags and are TSA pre check and would have easily made out flight. Money wasted, awful airline, awful aircraft, awful customer service. Book at your own risk."
Cons: "spirit attempts to force a customer to register with their site in order to check-in, their ticket rates are a bit lower than the competitor but charge $50 for a normal checked bag, have one kiosk for check-in, very few gates /low priority at airports which causes longer waits for boarding and deboarding. Overall the experience with Spirit has been horrible and expensive. Their business practice includes deceptive pricing, over charging for luggage, and long waits. I will never fly with Spirit again."
Pros: "Friendly staff."
Cons: "The seats didn't recline which is inappropriate for a 5-6 hour flight. The tray was also so small I couldn't put my laptop on it to watch a movie. There was nowhere to plug into power so my iPhone (a backup for movies) died hours before we landed. Lastly, I was called to help assist a passenger who had fainted (I'm a doctor) and was offered nothing in return for my help. Not even a soda. I didn't offer to help in hopes of "free stuff," but the other airlines I have flown with have offered me a drink, some food, or even $ off my next flight as a thank you for my medical services."
Cons: "My flight was first delayed, then cancelled just a couple of hours before it was scheduled to depart. Spirit was unable/unwilling to provide me with another flight to my destination on the same day, and as a result I had to book a flight with another airline. Spirit refunded my ticket price, but I had to pay 5 times that much to book a flight with such short notice on another airline, and Spirit refused to do anything else to compensate me for this huge loss of money, due to their cancellation of the flight I had booked. I will never fly Spirit again."
Pros: "Spirit has very nice, patient and helpful employees."
Cons: "I'm a fairly small woman and these planes are awful to ride in. Very uncomfortable seats. The man sitting next to me on my flight to Detroit was sitting 1/3 in my seat. I had zero personal space. I was flying to MI for my fathers funeral and the airline doesn't acknowledge or do anything for bereavement. That's pretty unfeeling. I also have never been on a plan with such loud passengers. It sounded like everyone was talking. People where listening to videos out loud without headphones and they never turned the lights all the way down eventhough it was a late flight (8pm to 1am). Also: Nowhere to plug devices in. No entertainment. Not even water is free. They only take credit card so if you are desperately in need of water and only have cash you are screwed. Charges for every carry on bag."
Cons: "Any things"
Pros: "We landed safe."
Cons: "I needed to change my flight to a later time within minjtes of booking and they charged me for it. The delay was over two hrs w no explanation, $100 charges for a backpack, seats do not recline, narrow space, $3 for water,, there were emty seats and was told I would have to pay $75 is I moved from my broken seat. staff is rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. Overall , I have travleled the world in all kinds of flights and by far the worst experience I have ever had was flying SPIRIT Air. I will avoid flying Spirit unless it tis my last option...which I may cosider not flying at all. Zero Stars"
Cons: "I tried canceling one flight for my fiancé because we had to get on at another time while still keeping the returning flight. After confirming with the representative on the phone multiple time that there would be no issues with her getting on the returning flight; she went to check in at the airport and the representative there told her that her flight had been canceled. There were no other flights that night with Spirit or any other airline for that matter and we then had to arrange to have her fly out the next morning. From the cancelation I received a credit for half of what I paid and honestly will probably not end up using it because of the lack of communication. The representative on the phone confirmed and agreed to her return flight with the confirmation number and apparently he was not correct and it wasn't valid."
Cons: "Where do I start? This may be the most "affordable" flight you can find on the market but they make up for that. Be sure to print your own boarding pass because that's a $10 charge if you don't. If your luggage is even one lb over the weight, expect to pay $95. Need water on the flight? Pay up. AirMall magazine? Nope. Reclining chairs? Laughable. The staff's affect is flat and cold. Don't bother trying to reason with them, they could care less (especially"Karen"). If I could give zero stars on this review, I wouldn't hesitate. I wouldn't wish my experience with Spirit on anyone. I'd rather forget about it all and move on with my life but people have the right to know."
Pros: "Flight into LAX was experienced and the pilot landed well."
Cons: "You get excited cause the ticket is cheap, then you have to pay for everything. The motto this trip was, "do I have to pay extra for that?" If you are going with a backpack and that's it, this might be the ticket for you. But if you were like me, and needed to take more than a toothbrush for three days, you have you pay for luggage, then pay for water, and boarding passes, and CARRY ON BAGS. The list goes on and on. Spirit doesn't care about you, just your money. I will shell out the extra bucks to get at least a water and a seat that reclines. I will be warning everyone I know about how terrible Spirit was, and I personally will never fly this airline again."
Pros: "It was a direct flight to Cleveland... and it APPEARED to be cheaper than a more traditional airline."
Cons: "Let's start with your website, which never functioned -- except to book my ticket. 30 minutes and numerous tries to get a seat, to pay for a carry on bag & the same "unable to process at this time" response. When I called, the gentleman lacked strong English as a second language skills -- and that ordeal took another 25 minutes. Nice as can be, but really struggled to figure out HOW to keep my seats, which were showing blocked + couldn't tell if the charge was processed. Then there's the lack of participation in the TSA Program, which means having to unpack three computers and ALL liquids... The cattle call boarding process -- even when you pay the upcharge. And the kinda crummy/dirty waiting area at LAX, from going through security so early -- to make sure I didn't miss my flight. The seats so lack support, I work up with a horrible back ache. Definitely bring a blanket or firm pillow -- if you have ANY back issues, which I don't. It's a start up airline, and they charge for everything but oxygen. So if you don't want to carry on, you don't mind the almost freight plane experience... This is probably a pretty good deal. AND they fly direct to Cleveland, which is always a good thing."
Pros: "They didn't let me board!!"
Cons: "I arrived at airport 50 mins in advance. Ticket machine didn't work. Waited in long line to see wtf was up. Then they me I'm too late! Still 30 mins before flight board"
Cons: "I booked my return flight the same day i booked my departure. I didn't recieve an email with my itinerary nor was i charged for the flight so i called the airline. After 30 minutes of my time wasted i was still on call waiting. The day before my return flight i panicked and bought a whole new ticket and then like 8 hours before muy flight i get an email asking if I'm ready for muy upcoming flight. I am completely disappointed with both kayak and spirit airlines. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BE BOOKING SPIRIT AIRLINES AGAIN!!"
Pros: "Flight took off on time and arrived sooner than scheduled. The price was rock bottom. Staff was courteous. Spirit is budget focused and does everything to make flying simple and low cost."
Cons: "No usb outlets to charge your phone. They scare you into thinking that if you have carry on luggage they will charge you an extra $55 each way on their check in system. I took mine and wasn't charged. Upon entering the cabin, it was warm. The air conditioning was intentionally turned off till take off to save money-not a big deal for me but could bother others. At end of flight, we have to shut the windows closed for the next shift to keep it cool-strange. If you are over 6ft tall or are wide bodied don't fly coach on Spirit. Seats are thin plastic and cushions are not forgiving or adjustable. If you are a college student or young family, this airline is your best bet to stay on budget if you have high tolerance. If you are more business/lifestyle/social vacation traveller, try paying an extra $60-$90 more and the travel part will become part of what makes you smile instead of what you try to tolerate."
Pros: "Only the initial "sucker price" which does NOT include ANY LUGGAGE or the ability to SIT WITH YOUR FAMILY without paying extra!!"
Cons: "They use an initial "SUCKER PRICE" which does NOT include ANY LUGGAGE or the ability to SIT WITH YOUR FAMILY without paying extra!! $50 extra for each piece of luggage ... EACH WAY1 If you don't pay at the check in counter they charge $100 for each piece of luggage - each way and that includes ANY BACKPACK WITH WHEELS! $25 FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER TO SIT TOGETHER!!!! NO COMPLIMENTARY FOOD OR DRINK. 2 sodas are $5! (can't buy just one) NO none zero entertainment, not even a radio channel."
Pros: "When I got off the flight to my destination."
Cons: "The customer service was terrible! When hiring a person customer service should be a priority! I understand you can't please everybody but to treat a person as if they don't matter is terrible. And to make a person miss a domestic flight because of being five minutes and making them go print a boarding pass and make me go back in line and then charging me an additional 200 dollars to rebook me was beyond me! I needed to make it to LAX to connect to meet volunteers for a mission trip I was going with and I did not make that flight just because the person decided to send me back to the line."
Pros: "Friendly crew"
Cons: "Spirit will charge you extra for almost anything imaginable. There is no free carry on luggage except a small personal item. No free printing of boarding passes at the airport. Prepare to be nickel and dimed for anything extra. Spirit fares are ok but other airlines can offer fares just as cheap or even cheaper if you are flexible with the date and time. None of the Spirit planes I've ever been on have charging outlets or entertainment screens which are becoming standard comforts on most other airlines. Not to mention, Spirit gave me hassle for using an e-boarding pass. Really, Spirit? All other major airlines accept electronic boarding passes via mobile phone. Requiring printed boarding passes is so outdated. I would choose any other airline than Spirit if at all possible."
Pros: "It got me from the point A to the point B safely. Shouldn't/wouldn't take that for granted."
Cons: "1. Technical difficulties: We attempted to check in the night before, in order to "save" on what's already a ridiculous fee for checked baggage. However, after inputting our credit card number, the system stated that it was experiencing malfunction. Therefore, we had to check in again at the airport, and although we informed them that we attempted to check in ahead of time, they were not concerned and charged us $52 each per bag. At this point, any savings we had by booking a "no frill, economic" airline, were negated. 2. Ridiculous Fees, cont: My husband and I were traveling together, and booked the flight at the same time, on the same credit card. Yet, the only way we were guaranteed seats together, was if we purchased seat assignments. 3. Delays: Our flight was initially delayed 3 hours. We were not given any explanation or apologies. Then, as our new boarding time was approaching, they informed us that further delay will ensue due to a flight attendant running late. They could not give us a time frame in which we would actually board, nor did they seem particularly concerned or apologetic. 4. (Dis)Comfort: We finally boarded. Seats do not recline, nor are they comfortable. Of course, even water carried a charge. 5. More delays, poor Customer Service: After we landed, we proceeded to wait another half an hour or so, because the plane for some reason had no access to the gate. People were restless and needed to use restrooms. But they were sharply redirected and ordered to stay seated and buckled, without much regard for the inconvenience and discomfort. Overall, a poor experience. There are so many airlines out there whose costs are comparable (or even cheaper after you factor in all of the additional, ridiculous fees) and who have a better record in being on time, great customer service, and no extra fees. I would suggest going with them."
Cons: "The flight attendant "joked" with us that we were heading to New York instead of LA... Supposed to be funny but seriously rude and frightening; I almost had a panic attack. I am also severely disgusted by the airlines that include a dozen hidden fees but don't inform you of them when you are booking your ticket. It was due to a fluke that I discovered carry ons were not free, which led me to search further and find that printing boarding passes is not free, nor are beverages, nor.. anything else. While I understand Spirit's desire to make flights cheaper, you should just TELL PEOPLE THAT when they buy the ticket, I shouldn't have to discover it after the fact. I probably still would have bought your ticket and been much happier about it."
Pros: "There is nothing which I can like about spirit airline"
Cons: "Spirit hidden charges and they will tell you to pay for even small hand bags at double price."
Cons: "Price gouged every step of the way, spirit airlines should not even be permitted to operate. Expect to pay $50 or more if you should be so brazen to want to bring luggage. Checked bags wouldn't be an unusual charge but even a carry on bag has a price tag. For the ridiculously high price for a one way ticket, not even so much as a complimentary cup of water was offered. No in flight entertainment, not even a flight magazine or skymall. The horribly uncomfortable seats were too narrow, and 11 inches apart from the rows ahead. I'm a short person and even I had my knees against the seat in front of me. On top of that they don't even recline. A passenger behind me was listening to headphones so loud that it was clearly audible to three rows in any direction. At one point an attendant asked him to turn it down, but within an hour he had them back up for the rest of the trip, with an "I tried" shrug from the attendant. Before landing another attempt at pandering for money was made in the form of signing up for frequent flyer miles, by purchasing spirit membership. I will never fly spirit again and would strongly urge anyone to shop around before considering spirit as their airline."
Cons: "Flight was late, baggage was late"
Cons: "Did not like the fact that i was on time to my flight but my flight didnt not leave for an hour after it was schedualed due to a "computer" problem. It didnt seem like much was wrong since all the mechanics were just sitting around talking to the flight attendants. Also the plane kept making this unusual grinding sound before we even took off as well as while we werr in the air. The flight attendants were very rude to alot of people, careless with the credit card machine dropped it very roughly on the ground and laughing about it. I am pretty sure the older one of the three was drunk because she reaked of alcohol , I didnt not catch her name but she was the ruddest of them even to an elderly man and a small child. Then Liz was also very rude to customers as well as having an attitude that was as if she didnt carr about her job. The man Gustavo was not to bad he just spoke over the intercom as if he was new. My mother who was traveling with me asked for a seat belt extender twice and the third time was finaly given one and laughed at by the staff and the during the flight she discoverd a roach in the pouch in front of her. Also back to a referance to the bad staff a woman sat next to us asked for a pain killer or some sort and was told " i cant give it to you before we take off, and if i could we dont have anything other than our own"-liz then twords the end the poor girl was sweating drasticaly and holding her stomach and the older attendent whose name i did not get came up and said " WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?" and laughed. Over all i was NOT haooy woth this flight i do understand the fact that i GET WHAT I PAY FOR BUT THAT WAS JUST RIDICULOUS."
Pros: "Staff at Spirit Airlines at OAK airport were really nice and helpful. Flight was cheap and safely flown - a huge plus for me, but plane not cleaned well and baggage fees were higher than the price of the flight itself so I am very lucky I brought a recognized carry-on bag."
Cons: "For my outgoing flight, my front pocket magazine holder in front was pretty covered in some stain that I couldn't recognize but was sticky to the touch. I knew they hadn't really cleaned the plane. I didn't really open that magazine holder because it was covered by this large stain. My return flight was changed several times due to mechanical issues but I appreciate that Kayak sent updates via email. It was 70% likely not to fly but ended up flying maybe 3 hrs later (good that they made sure to be safe than sorry) but I just couldn't wait to find out overnight that it would be cancelled at the airport, so I had to reschedule my flight for the next day and find housing and transportation again. I overheard other passengers complained out loud even on the initial flight to OAK airport that they would not travel with Spirit again, but I had more issues with my return flight than my outbound flight. All in all, I think you get what you pay for but this was probably not the best experience."
Pros: "Terrible customer service."
Cons: "Spirit overbooked our flight, so since my boyfriend and I were the last to check in...(Checked in when got to the airport, in plenty of time before our flight) They informed us that if no one volunteered to take a later flight, we would be unable to board. This was extremely upsetting considering our tickets were purchased months in advance and we had a rental car set up for when we landed, as well as many plans we had to cancel due to being put on a later flight on behalf of the mistake and overbooking of Spirit airlines. It didn't help that the employees helping the situation seemed to have no idea what they were doing and couldn't figure out what to do with us. AWFUL experience."
Cons: "flight took off 2 hrs later"
Pros: "I flew Round-Trip LAX-CLE-LAX. Flight from CLE to LAX left on time and even arrived about 40 minutes ahead of schedule."
Cons: "I flew Round-Trip LAX-CLE-LAX. Flight from LAX to CLE was almost 3 hrs. delayed & we could not get a straight answer as to why. My biggest complaint is this airline needs to be much more transparent about the ACTUAL cost of flying w/ them versus what they advertise! It is ridiculous to have to pay $55.00 each way for a carry-on! For that same additional $110.00 I could have flown on a better airline that didn't have hidden fees, didn't try to check my carry-on at a higher rate & then get upset when I made them fix the error, didn't stick me in a cramped flying cattle car (more or less) with tiny seats that didn't even recline. The counter agents at LAX were helpful & friendly but not so at CLE. The agent there seemed very annoyed & was the one making the aforementioned error. I will NOT fly this airline again & wouldn't be surprised to see them go out of business."
Cons: "cancelled flight and not enough customer service to deal with people"
Pros: "Cheap rate and a direct flight, or at least it was supposed to be. Customer service staff were mostly very good and patient with all of us frustrated customers after they put us in the air on a defective aircraft TWICE in the same night. They didn't kill us, although arguably they took a lot of liberties with our lives."
Cons: "Excessively high checked bag fee ($50) and relatively low checked bag weight (<40 Lbs.). Flight staff was loudly mocking Delta pilots as we boarded the plane the first time. Departed (the first time) almost 60 minutes late, due to a company wide computer outage. Not a good first impression... But it got much, much worse. About 15 minutes after take off we are suddenly turned back around the wrong direction. Eventually the pilot explains that there is a problem with the aircraft and we need to make an emergency landing at MSP. Okay, no big deal. Things happen. They got us back on the ground safely. We left the plane and waited for more info. Sporadic updates over the next hour or more provided no useful information. "We'll know more soon" every time. Turns out there was a faulty door seal on the plane. The solution was to leave security and wait in their ticket line for a new flight. New flight option was to fly to Dallas later that night, then fly to LA in the morning. Not ideal, but like I said, things happen. Then they put us back on THE SAME PLANE over an hour after that one was supposed to take off, because they had one person giving out hotel vouchers for our layover in Dallas. That plane, the same plane as the first attempted flight, has the same problem 15 minutes into the flight, and we're back in MSP again. Back to the ticket line, very poor re-booking options. Finally my fiance and I got an American Airlines flight to Chicago, and then to LA, and we arrived in LA almost exactly 24 hours late. Better late than dead, no question. But Spirit would not pay for our cab home, or cover any of our expenses that we incurred spending over 10 hours in the airport that day. VERY DISAPPOINTING. We will never fly Spirit again, and we'll make sure to let everyone we know hear about this misadventure..."
