Make sure to check-in to your flight using the American Airlines mobile app. The ILM airport isn't big or busy. It's a small airport, so you don't need to stress getting there.

Eat, drink and go to the bathroom before you board. It’s too short a flight for those services to be offered.

Wear comfy shoes. You'll be walking a lot (from the jetway to the rental car bus was about a mile total including luggage and the up and down stairs required) when you get to Detroit. And note that the B terminal restrooms appear to be eternally under construction. Had to walk to C term to find one open. At 9a.m on a Saturday.

Charlotte airport under construction- leave enough time for connecting flights. You may have far to go to get to your next gate.

RDU long-term parking can add 30-70 mins to your departure time. At terminal 2 in RDU, getting a taxi can take 2-5 mins, vs. waiting 10-30 mins for a car app pickup. :)

I would get trip insurance and probably used Delta. There are more expensive, but have more flights to reschedule you on.

Small plane meant no overhead compartment room, so you got a valet tag when boarding and they checked the bag at the gate. I didn't realize until I exited the gate door this meant I was supposed to pick the bag back up immediately upon getting off the plane and I could not go back down the gateway again to retrieve it. But they transferred the bag to the baggage claim area so it all worked out- just a little confusing at first.

If there are issues with the plane you could be there a long time. We were there for over 4 hrs. Missed connecting flights. Be proactive. If you are going to miss your connecting flight ask if you can be rerouted. Don’t accept poor customer service. Remember. They are not looking out for you. Be proactive.

Charlotte is not a convenient airport. Overcrowded and when arriving to pick up your luggage at belts (connecting to Tampa), they have screens informing you where to pick up your luggage, but screens had NO information at all. You had to ask for it to staff.

Waaay too small plane. They also need to up the size of the overhead bins. I would love to keep me 3k with of camera equipment in my hard case baggahe instead of it being thrown into the belly of the plane

After arriving in Dallas, the aircraft taxied for an unusually long time and was unable to park at the gate, which caused a significant delay and made me miss my connecting flight. I then had to wait in a very long line to be rebooked, and I was told that no hotel or meal accommodations would be provided. What is even more unacceptable is that my luggage was mishandled and has still not been located. My suitcase contains important medications that I urgently need, and I have been unable to access them due to the airline’s mishandling. This situation has caused me considerable stress and inconvenience, and I need this issue to be resolved immediately.

I had a positive experience on American. I'm blind and traveling with a guide dog and the flight attendants were so kind, friendly, and helpful towards us. They checked in on us during the flight and they made us feel comfortable and welcomed. There was an hour delay before depature, but overall the flight was a smooth ride. I appreciate that there were no issues on this long flight back home.

Flight delayed and missed connection. Rescheduled flight cancelled after 6 hrs wait. Rerouted thru ORD, flight cancelled, overnight stay in ORD. Still in the air on new flight!

Flight was delayed because of a bird strike. They had another plane available within 45 minutes.

You can plug your phone in & use their wifi to watch movies, etc, but the plane’s wifi was disconnected for most of the flight.

The trip was smooth but the crew were very abrupt, snatching things before finished and being quite snappy when asked questions.

Very below average , plane from Dallas to Toyko was very poor designed plane. I had to sit for 13 hours next to fat man. Really bad seat and entertainment screen sucked

Boarding: Boarding was a bit of a mess. Our tickets indicated "BC" for Business Class, but we and many others were confused as that was not indicated anywhere in the airport, so we didn't know when we're supposed to board. The airplane: The airplane was nice. However, we sat near the back of the business class cabin and the flight attendants and passengers from other cabins would constantly move the curtain (which was very loud), preventing me from fallling asleep on my 8 hour flight. The flight crew: Amazing, generally. However, they nearly forgot to serve breakfast to me. The flight food: I was able to select my meal for dinner, which was really good. Breakfast was a bit of a mess, however. The crew forgot to serve me breakfast until the last minute. Very little was available by the time they remembered. The entertainment: Paltry, underwhelming, and dated. Not one new movie was available. Bottom line: For the money, you might want to consider other options for your international business class flights.

Sat on the ground in Cincinnati for 50 minutes before deplaning
