Eat, drink and go to the bathroom before you board. It’s too short a flight for those services to be offered.
FredrickFlew with DeltaGSO-DTWApr 2025
Wear comfy shoes. You'll be walking a lot (from the jetway to the rental car bus was about a mile total including luggage and the up and down stairs required) when you get to Detroit. And note that the B terminal restrooms appear to be eternally under construction. Had to walk to C term to find one open. At 9a.m on a Saturday.
VivianeFlew with American AirlinesCLT-YULMay 2025
Charlotte airport under construction- leave enough time for connecting flights. You may have far to go to get to your next gate.
HartajFlew with United AirlinesRDU-SFODec 2024
RDU long-term parking can add 30-70 mins to your departure time. At terminal 2 in RDU, getting a taxi can take 2-5 mins, vs. waiting 10-30 mins for a car app pickup. :)
HartajFlew with United AirlinesRDU-EWRDec 2024
RDU gates can be busy. Newark airport still being upgraded, expect construction. Complex EWR layout can be difficult to navigate. Good luck! 💗

Walk with something to eat, because everything on the airport is expensive.

Get precheck TSA if you’re flying in early morning. Get a seat on the right side of the plane if you want to see sunrise.

Both the Charlotte and O'Hare airports are large and well organized. Wear you comfy walking shoes and enjoy the journey!

I would get trip insurance and probably used Delta. There are more expensive, but have more flights to reschedule you on.

They dont really bother you about carry-on size, I brought a descent sized backpack and they didnt even check. Bring your own snacks to save some money.

If you're connecting at Newark, you don't have to go through security again, which was a pleasant surprise.
NemoFlew with American AirlinesCLT-ORFMar 2024
Small plane meant no overhead compartment room, so you got a valet tag when boarding and they checked the bag at the gate. I didn't realize until I exited the gate door this meant I was supposed to pick the bag back up immediately upon getting off the plane and I could not go back down the gateway again to retrieve it. But they transferred the bag to the baggage claim area so it all worked out- just a little confusing at first.

bring your own tablet or laptop if you want to watch movies on decent size screen... and consider continuing to mask while traveling to avoid variety of airborne diseases.

Get to the airport early, the lines to go thru security are enormous. The line does move pretty quickly though.
BrantonFlew with DeltaAVL-ATLMay 2024
Don’t pay extra for anything on a flight that’s less than an hour.
jonFlew with American AirlinesAVL-CLTApr 2024
If there are issues with the plane you could be there a long time. We were there for over 4 hrs. Missed connecting flights. Be proactive. If you are going to miss your connecting flight ask if you can be rerouted. Don’t accept poor customer service. Remember. They are not looking out for you. Be proactive.
Verified travelerFlew with British AirwaysCLT-TPAMay 2024
Charlotte is not a convenient airport. Overcrowded and when arriving to pick up your luggage at belts (connecting to Tampa), they have screens informing you where to pick up your luggage, but screens had NO information at all. You had to ask for it to staff.

Sat on the ground in Cincinnati for 50 minutes before deplaning

Flight was delayed. Staff at the gate effectively and proactively communicated about the delay.

Overall fine, but the delay was annoying and the reasons for the delay were not communicated. The crew on board were phenomenal!

This flight never occurred because AA couldn’t get their act together.

Boarding was very efficient. Everyone got on board and we got on our way very quickly. It was frustrating that the entertainment app was not functioning properly. I was not able to activate some of the movies offered. The crew on this flight appears to be pretty grumpy. They had no smile on their faces. I felt like they were doing us a favor for being there.

Delayed because of weather in Nashville. I think God or some higher power generally has cursed me when it comes to flying out of Charlotte on American. I'm delayed pretty much everytime. We need Team Cobra Kai types to come in and "sweep the leg(s)" of the Charlotte ops people on principle. Don't let the sweet southern rocking chairs fool you, Charlotte is a sinkhole

Long 5 hour and 45 min flight and only one drink service and cookie snack

Newark airport grounded inbound flight and only announced when the flight was about to start taxing.

Was a normal flight but it was delayed, and there wasn't an explanation.

Terrible. The flight was delayed two hours due to weather. Then when we got on the plane, the first pilot ended up timing out and we had to wait for a second pilot. Second pile came on board and we tax it out. Had to return back to the gate because of an unruly passenger. Then the copilot timed out. Had to wait for new copilot. Also had to wait for maintenance to check for fuel. Then found out the second pilot timed out and we had to wait for a third pilot. Was ready to go and then needed maintenance again for another issue. In the end, it was 2 o’clock in the morning when they announced that the flight couldn’t go because the third pilot and the second copilot had timed out.
