Boarding area chaotic and priority boarding poorly monitored. No pre-departure beverages in first class. Pilot deviated storms nicely.

Flight departed Phhiladelphia on time and arrived Phoenix about thirty minutes early. Masks were required which is really unnecessary as all other sanitary protocols have been eliminated.

Once airborne, the flight was uneventful. However, the flight was an hour late leaving the gate due to a weight and balance problem that needed to be corrected by restowing luggage in the baggage compartment. Several passengers missed connections in PHX; no representative from American Airlines (the captain or terminal representative) made an apology for the delay or missed connections. First class food service is poor. Nothing is warmed; sandwiches are all the same (two slices of processed meat or turkey with cheese on a pretzel roll). No hand santizers are offered or provided as was done during early covid restrictions.

I could have used the call button but I think that should be saved for emergencies. I think the information on how to access the inflight entertainment should be in every seat pocket"

I waited at the original gate (C39) from arrival time (2:30 pm) til boarding time (5:40 pm). When I saw no change to my destination, I checked the United App to find that the gate had been changed C33). Rushing to C33 I found another flight boarding at that location with one United Representative who could not stop to answer questions. Seeing two unoccupied Representatives at the next gate (C32), I asked if they could help me with the confusion, they said I should check with gate C33 - which I told them that she was too busy with other passengers. I searched for a Departure Board and discovered that gate C33 was still the gate, but "aircraft maintenance" had delayed the flight until after 8:20. After having to check my carry-on because of lack of space in the overheads, my departure from the airport was further delayed another 30 minutes. Upon returning home and checking my email, I found notifications of two different gate changes (C33 & C44). Announcements should have been made at both gate C39 about the changing of the gate and at C33 explaining the problem. The captain's lame excuse about air conditioning and Phoenix's hot weather was lame to say the least."

My seat did not stay either up or down...it kept moving around and would not stay adjusted. However the crew was fantastic and our two female pilots were amazing. Captain Amy touched down in Phoenix was one of the smoothest I have ever experienced."

I told her we'd put the purse in the bag but for some reason she demanded we check in our carry on. And we saw two women right in front of us with "3" bags... That meant an additional 30 minutes at bag check while our ride circled the airport. The was the last of 4 flights, and it was the only time anyone made this an issue."

Cons: "Everything else. I flew from PHL to IAH and was very unhappy with the experience. The gate agents were unfriendly. The bag check agents downstairs were unfriendly. I had two separate phone calls with United a week prior to the flight to understand and confirm the bag policy. This was AFTER booking my flight so they knew upfront I bought a basic economy ticket. After my first call, I understood a personal item would be free and I would be able to pay for my carry on bag, but only within 24 hours prior to the flight. I made a second call to be absolutely sure the previous agent gave me the correct information and pricing. So I paid the $25 for my carry on, checked in online, and waited at the gate while boarding at the very end because I was basic economy. They did not let me board with my bag. They requested another $50 to check my carry on with them or I would be rebooked. I struggled to afford the flight, let alone the carry on fee I had paid in advance. I literally did not have the money, and even if I had the cash, they only accept plastic. What blew me away was they weren't asking me to check my carry on because of the size. But because of my basic economy ticket, aka, the N fare. Despite checking with two employees by phone after buying my ticket and paying for a carry on in advance, there is a rule in place that states "if you have purchased Basic Economy, you will only be allowed one personal item, unless you are a Premier member or a primary card member using a qualifying MileagePlus credit card." Therefore, there is no alternative. You are a second class citizen; a no good deplorable, when you buy this ticket and there is nothing you can do to upgrade it. Only the "premier" passengers have the right to bring a carry on aboard even if you think you're paying for the privelage. What I was expected to somehow understand after asking two United employees prior if I could purchase the right to bring a carry on bag aboard, was to CHECK my CARRY ON downstairs or learn the hard way. Wow. What a ruthless way to learn this lesson. I waited 7 more hours to board the next available flight. What a nightmare. I thought I had did the appropriate research necessary and planned in advance to avoid these situations. Checking in online and contacting customer service prior is no longer the convenience it used to be. Even if you've done your research, bring additional funds with you. Even if you check in online and have a digital boarding pass, always check in with a real human prior to entering the TSA security line. A side note, United is trying to save money while "speeding up" the process by forcing you to use a computer to hand over your checked luggage. Speaking with a human now is a monumental struggle."

Not the worst experience I've had flying but far from being a good experience. It probably isn't worth flying united unless it's 1st class. But even they had to wait 30+mins for luggage!"

They changed the departure to 2309 due to "mechanical failure" of one of the aircrafts. We were told a plane was coming and that we were just waiting for another flight to Albuquerque that was delayed before us to leave the gait. Long after that first delayed flight left passengers for PHX were delayed 3 more times which ended in the final tenative departure time being 0145. We were told at 0115 to sit tight and wait because the plane was now here but the crew was still in route. Shortly after this promise, the crew showed up and everything seemed to be ready for us to board. Another 30 minutes went by and they announced that the flight was cancelled. United airlines had used up over 4 hours of changing gaits and times only to end up cancelling the entire flight. They did not offer any explanation for this nor were they the least sympathetic to the travelers who have all paid to be on that flight. The customer service was disgraceful and did not offer any type of help on reimbursement, hotel, cabs, or compensation for this."

I love the pet friendliness as well as every employee through United I met today from the bdl check in crew , to especially the flight crew on flight558 iAd to phx who I believe was from Houston and their Texas roots truly shined. Every crew member was Sooo attentive professional Cleanly pleasant and always smiling and happy to come around. Other crews could learn from this crew please take notice !!! I have never been so impressed (and I am a frequent flyer )"

Cons: "The agent who checked me in was extremely unprofessional. I felt like she was envious that I was going on a vacation and she had to work. She tried to make my experience a living hell. I personally think she should be fired. She does not enjoy what she is doing. She joyfully told me that it costs $40 to carry my luggage and after I informed her that I saw it online for less she informed me that I should have bought it online. She then stuck me all the way in the last row of the plane. I am 5'9". My husband is 6'2" and over 300 pounds. Those seats have the least leg room. It was pure torture. The flight crew in the back help my poor husband by using humor to help him."

This means that they don't want to take complaints. Ps- there were 250 people in line...I counted 9 people calling customer service. I don't think any of them were success. -none of the kiosks were working at phx. I thought we were in the 21st century. -seats do not recline. Seats are uncomfortable. Food tray is tiny. And I do mean tiny. No water or soda or anything without paying for it. That's a bit unrealistic for a cross country flight. -Fees! For food, drinks, stowed baggage, carry-on baggage (what?), choosing a seat assignment (and I do mean any seat assignment ) -Frontier will never see this because they do not deal with complaints. Ps-I wasn't able to respond via Twitter. I didn't know if my cell phone was an issue or if Frontier blocked twitter feedback."

So even though I bought the ticket last week and showed up over an hour early when I got on the flight there were no seats, the seat they said they gave to me 19A was filled with another passenger with a ticket saying 19A so they also did not know what they were doing. The crew told me to sit anywhere, but three of us ended up having to get off the plane. I ended up being stuck in Los Angeles and missing a million $ meeting. No appology, no credit for future flights was made or even attempted by the crew. I'm considering a lawsuit to be honest unless some very quick and good service is provided. The crew was rude and stressed and all about leaving on time. HORRIBLE."

Cons: "Spirit is hands down the worst airline I have ever flown on. We thought we had found a steal of a flight for $180 from Philadelphia to Ft. Lauderdale until we found out that they literally charge you extra for every single other thing. Just to pick our 2 seats round trip cost us another $56. Checking bags both ways was another $168. Then while checking in, we were charged $30 for an "overweight" bag. Every single other airline has a 50 pound limit, but once again spirit found a way to be cheap and sub-par with a 40 pound limit. Luckily we managed to avoid their $100 carry on fee for if your bag doesn't meat they're incredibly small limit. Oh and their app, which every single other airline allows you to download for free, is $5. Once aboard the plane, the seats are made of hard plastic with barely any cushioning and the seat back tray won't even hold anything larger than a beverage. There is also no on-flight entertainment offered. This has been a learning experience to say the least. Suffice to say, I will never fly with Spirit Airlines again. They are incredibly cheap and try to nickel and dime you for every little thing. 2 thumbs WAY down."

Cons: "Boarding took a really long time. We were scheduled to board at 10:40. Then they announce it would be at 10:50. That's fine, but there were no further updates and we didn't end up boarding until after 11. They called zone 1 to board, but they hadn't even deplaned from the previous flight so everyone was standing around waiting for far longer than they had to. Also, for some reason our flight was labelled as "on time" even though we ended up being about half an hour late."

Won't be flying Spirit next time I need a connecting flight. We waited 2 hours inside the plane at the gate before departing. We just informed we were delayed because of paper work and only after 1 hour we got an update. After an hour and a half we were told we could get off the plane if we wanted to get something to eat or drink... I'm tall so my legs were crammed. I guess the quote is true: you get what you pay for. Pay cheap, get cheap comfort, cheap service and expensive luggage fare!"

Paperwork had to be done by hand and single supervisor working on another flight that she needed to get on ground before she could work on us. Everything extra. Also they don't participate in TSA pre check so had to wait on lines even with this."

Overall additional total for baggage alone was $380 !!!! I could have flown ANY other airlines way cheaper. NOTHING mentioned when I booked the tickets online unless it was basically hidden. I heard about the baggage problem so I did try calling to discuss, even more horrific and couldn't even understand the person so I gave up, oh yeah, took over a half hour to connect to a live person, worst website ever !!!! NEVER would I fly Spirit again !!"
