First, my flight from Cleveland was delayed, and the EVA crew was quick to communicate with me and be sure to get me to the gate so I didn't miss the flight. The staff were all very kind, helpful, competent, professional. The airplane was very clean, very efficient, good meals, good entertainment. Excellent airline. I'll be flying with them regularly!"

She was not checking bags, and the security line was a walk through. But they would not issue her a ticket, cancelled her international flight, AND her return flight. She had to buy an entire new round trip international flight...All the while her plane was still on the ground...This did not make sense to me. This does not make sense to anyone I explain the story to, either. Your counters truly are always long waits. It was her fault she didn't leave enough time. But the lack of flexibility in rebooking and the inability to still use her return flight home? WHY."

Cons: "The 1hr, 40 minute delay in Hong Kong ended up costing me 11 hours of additional travel time to reach my final destination. The Airline arranged for the last leg of my flight to Chicago from Seattle to be on a different Airline, and it wasn't so comfortable. Arrangements were made by the airline in Taipei for my flight out of Chicago for me also, but with a 4 hours layover and on a "Standby" condition. This I didn't understand because there was a much earlier flight leaving Chicago on this same airline and it wasn't full. Staff at the ticket counter did eventually correct it to the earlier flight for me."

Cons: "Booked flight through Kayak on Virgin Australia, but found out it was a codeshare on Air New Zealand. No where during booking did it show we would be charged for 1 checked bag a piece. Got to the airport and Air New Zealand was going to charge 134 AUD for each checked bag. Fortunately, they recommended going to the Virgin Australia counter to see if they could add a checked bag to our ticket. The nice people at Virgin used an online code to give us a discount so we only paid 25 AUD a bag. Thanks a lot for the heads up Kayak. We will book direct next time to avoid surprises. Also, almost all movies on Air New Zealand were an extra charge, and the only drinks offered for free on a 3 hour flight were coffee, tea, and water - no soft drinks."

Cons: "Customer service and ability to sort out technical issues were truly appalling. My touch screen monitor crashed and the controls that would enable me to alert crew members for any concerns also didn't work. Both issues happened twice. The second time, I informed them that if these technical issues continued to fail and couldn't be resolved, I needed to be placed in another seat, of which I specifically told them was not to be a seat far behind my current row seat. Instead, they went and offered me a seat that was 22 rows behind, especially after I had paid extra fees to sit in the seat I was given higher up the aisle. I also informed them that I wasn't feeling well and the closer I was to the exit when we landed, the better. They ignored these concerns. That is unacceptable considering that it was their system that was faulty in the first place that led to these problems. Their staff also failed to regularly walk the aisles to ensure customers were okay with the service. I've been on planes whereby the crew is constantly walking around to ensure everyone is being taken care of. For example, I had a great experience with Korean Air where I saw staff every 10-15mins checking on customers. Air New Zealand completely failed in this regard. When my system crashed the second time, because I couldn't call anyone in the crew using the controls on my touch screen, and the person sat next to me was asleep (didn't want to wake him up to use his device to call!), I waited 25-30mins before going up to the crew station to seek help. I had to wait an additional 10-15mins before I even saw someone at the crew station. There are some other issues I encountered but the above were the main ones. This is the first time I've actually had to criticize an airline for it's customer service. I've been travelling for over 25 years and never encountered what I did today. I certainly won't be flying with them again."

One bathroom was out of commission for our 14 hour flight and limited our section of the plane to one bathroom. The remaining bathroom was very dirty and lacked supplies. When I asked for some help to have it cleaned, the attendant told me she would have to lock it down but there was already a big line of people waiting to use it. Disappointed in this flight because it was so long with limited facilities. Enjoyed other times I had used Emirates but not this time."

Cons: "Dubai airport is highly disappointing. The bathroom situation is atrocious! I am not exaggerating when I say I waited in line of 25 and 35 women two different times! The men’s situation isn’t ideal but is no where near the problem that is the women’s restrooms. The boarding process is mildly confusing - there is no public drinking fountains but if you buy water you are not allowed to take it to your gate. This info isn’t posted anywhere and makes no sense bc you purchased the water after you were checked through security. Also this rule truly only applies to women. A stewardess showed preferential treatment to someone who looked more native than us and then didn’t apologize. I understood the customer was upset so the flight attendant was trying to pacify the lady/couple but at least apologize for being rude. Dubai airport very much favors men and I would never travel without my husband. I would fly Emirates again but it won’t be my top choice and I won’t be going back to the Dubai airport anytime soon."

Cons: "Consistently late departures. Did not keep passengers informed about updated departure times. After serving the food, it took more than one hour to take the leftovers away. During the flight from Dubai -Chicago, hot beverages were served 1.5 hours after the food was served. Crew was not friendly at all. During the Chicago-Dubai flight a crew member basically yelled at passengers "open the windows" and I had to tell him to "ask nicely please). Emirates comes nowhere close to Singapore, Thai, or Turkish in terms of service."

In the end when not many passengers were left in the Queue, then we joined Q at the back to board."

I was unable to sleep on the flight, even with ear plugs. The kid sitting next to me was getting Play-doh everywhere, on me, the floor and all over the seats. He was also kicking the seat in front of him and his mother would not correct him. It would be helpful for the crew to say something to the parents, as some parents do not believe in discipline. The vegan food was very good on the flight to Hong Kong, but on the flight to Chicago it was bland. I was still very hungry after eating + did not get protein in the first meal. With the seat in front of me reclined all the way back, my knees were touching the back of the seat, my legs were swollen and in a lot of pain after the flight."

They are too upright, making it very difficult to sleep. On one of their planes, the seats didn’t recline at all. She looked at me flustered and said all seats are booked and that I'll be Ok with the aisle seat. On a different CP flight, a different staff was helping a couple switch with other passengers so they can sit next to each other. That would have been nice if they did that for me when I asked for a window seat."

Don't let people bring 2 large bags EACH onto flights. Bring a garbage bag around instead of a tiny 5 inch X 5 inch tray when you are collecting 100s? of people's garbage. When departing a plane, I never have seen so much trash and nonsense all over the floor. Bringing a garbage bag around would definitely eliminate a majority of that, the tray was extremely impractical for such a large amount of passengers."
