A smiling face showed up within minutes & asked if I wanted coffee. She told me that when she hears someone else say "no" that she thinks it should always be "yes". She was the African American flight attendant (wish I would have got her name). She brought me coffee, offered tylenol & checked in on me again later."

My wife, 2 year old son, and I was boarding at the gate and they couldn't scan my son's boarding pass. They quickly went over to the computer station and gave my son another pass. We went to our seats and found out someone else is in our 2year old seat. Apparently they gave the seat to someone else at the last second because up to the point when I printed our boarding passes at the kiosk, our seats were still together (and I paid $41/per seat extra to try to keep us together). The other customer was nice enough to switch with our son so were able to stay together at the last min so it goes to show AA priority and service."

So much so that I had trouble walking when I got off the plane, and I'm in pretty good shape. I used to get upgraded often with USAir. Now that I have 3 times the mileage built up, it never happens. This wasn't the worst American flight , however. I recently had the displeasure of flying on one of the new planes, and that seat was so upright, cramped, and hard, it was like being on Spirit! (And I refuse to get on their planes ever again) my entire body was sore and stiff after flying on the new AA jet."

So when I tried to have American change the airport so that I can take another flight not only were they careless about my loss nobody tried helping me rebook they just told me the only thing I can pay $200 plus another ticket for about $600 or use another airline it may be cheaper i thought that was so rude an they would have a little sympathy but they did not. I end up spending $328 an using a whole other airline for a honest mistake I'm just very dissatisfied an disappointed that American airline would do that to me on one of the hardest times in my life an I hope they never treat anybody they way they did me."

Pros: "For a cheap, quick flight under 3 hours this was a reasonable flight. It has the bare essentials, especially if you are traveling alone or without children. The crew was friendly and unlike the flight TO Miami (delayed by almost 2 hours for maintenance reasons---the a/c was not working and the airplane was very hot. Luckily everyone was told to return to the gate and wait for the problem to be fixed) this return flight was actually early! The plane was clean and in good condition."
Cons: "Aside from previous mentioned delay to destination, the unknown fact that you have to pay for your carry on luggage AFTER ticket purchase was a bit of a shocker...but for such a cheap ticket price I was expecting some hidden fee's along the way. Having to pay for something as simple as coffee or a small snack (what happened to free peanuts and pretzels?) seemed a bit excessive also so i was extremely disappointed at this also. Also, the trays on the seat backs were EXTREMELY small, just about big enough for a tablet so I am not sure who the airline is saving that space for?.. Again, this is a great airline for short flights but I don't know if i will be using them for a long flight in my future unless they have aircraft's with more comfortable options."

I appreciate the safe flight but from a high level: 1: make your online prices more transparent. 2: if you're going to be lower tear, make it clear that wifi and infighting entertainment isn't included. People will still choose to fly cheap, but to burry hidden charges is horrible."

Pros: "I was pleasantly surprised by a budget airline. After flying with Spirit and Allegiant, I had mentally prepared for all kinds of nonsense. Aside from the bag fees which are surprisingly reasonable (except for carry-on), I was very pleased flying frontier and would do so again at any opportunity. Check in was easy and efficient, both online and at the airport. The planes were clean and comfortable. We arrived early on both legs of the trip. The crew was friendly and presentable. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience."
Cons: "My only complaint is their credit card presentation. At this day in age, I'm prepared for every airline to offer to sell you a credit card on board. On both flights, however, the credit card offer was disguised as "good news" in the middle of important in flight announcements. Example "We have good news and great news everyone! The good news is we're expected to arrive 15 minutes earlier than scheduled arrival and the weather is cool and sunny. The great news is we're going to tell you about this credit card for the next 10 minutes!""

It was also annoying to have advertising for their credit card, but a lot of airlines do this and it is equally annoying. Everything was a cost, even water. Well, now I know and can make more informed decisions before traveling with them again."
Cons: "I arrived at the airport 2.5 hours before my flight. The flight was delayed by two hours when I checked my bag. And then kept pushing more and more because they were mechanical problems with a plane in Denver. When I was about to push to the 6.5 hour mark ( which I learned via email) it made my arrival time so late in Atlanta but it did not make sense to make the trip. I spoke with someone on the phone from front tier and then a person at the gate. They told me I would be refunded all fees and also receive future travel vouchers. Imagine my surprise today when I saw that I had been charged a $99 cancellation fee."

Pros: "It was an OK flight. Everything is a la carte. I didn't realize this because I have never flown frontier before. I was traveling light anyways, so it did allow me a cheaper flight. I mainly picked them for the departure time. In the future, I probably would pay the 49 bucks for what they call "the works". It bundles a lot of their a la carte services into a better deal. We did catch a tail wind and turned a 3 hour flight into a 2 hour flight. I guess the upside to the paid carry on rule was that there were a lot less carry on, which made boarding and exiting the plain easier."
Cons: "They want you to pay for everything. It does keep you from paying for stuff you don't want or need, which is good for me, but it would have been very bad if it had been my wife. I guess it is OK if you are aware of this, but I didn't realize until after I bought my ticket. You are allowed one personal item for free, but carry on and checked baggage are extra. Again, I only had a backpack ( personal item) but if my wife had been with me, it would have gotten expensive fast. The crew was kind of snippy. If you want food or drinks you have to pay with your credit card. Entertainment was non existent other than the in-flight credit card sales pitch."

Cons: "At the airport check in, over 100 of us stood in line to drop off bags for TWO HOURS with no Spirit staff in sight. When the staff did arrive, they were slow about helping us, laughed and joked with each other ignoring us, and not even apologetic. Once they began taking bags, they weren't friendly or even very attentive. The flight attendants paid little attention to the customers...stayed all up front eating, talking to each other, or on their electronic devices. The seats are very cramped, uncomfortable, and had no pocket or way to recline (unless you paid extra). There was no complimentary snack/beverage options...not even water...and this was for a 3 hour flight. The overall staff was not friendly or inclined to be helpful."

Cons: "The fact you lied about baggage fees, the fact your airline took it upon them selves to chance the standard size and weight of a carry on bag, the fact they charge you a "convience" fee for carrying your own bag. It's actually cheaper to have the airline handle your luggage than for you to carry it. The fact luggage fees seem to randomly change. I was charged 45$ for my bag on the outbound flight but for some reason I was charged 57 for the same bag for the return flight. Had I been made fully aware of all these charges I would have been able to save money while flying on a real airline."

In the morning the flight was delayed again. Fortunately I had a three hour layover in Atlanta, so the delays only meant less of a layover. The seats were uncomfortable. It was a clear day without many clouds, but somehow the pilots on both of my flights weren't able to hold the planes steady during the takeoffs, climbing to altitude, and approaches for landings. The planes were wobbling a lot---like they were no longer on smooth automatic pilot."

Surely the airline could stock a few gallons of water for dehydrated passengers? The cost of my two bags would have covered bottled water for everyone on the flight."

When called the agent couldn't help for an hr due to a system update and asked me to call back in a hr and to keep trying number. No one in the airport was willing or able to help to rebook. Conflicting information was given by the gate, check in desk and the agent on the phone. We received a $7 food voucher after waiting inline 2 hrs for it. And the only options they offered; was to fly to another airport with an 8 hr layover after being in the airport 12 hrs already and catch another flight at 7am. Or to wait two days to get a flight out of ATL. Worst part was the customer service and rude staff. I won't be flying with spirit in the future. Employees stood around instead of helping and had bad attitudes. And no clue as to flight info, or plane status to keep us updated."

We were more inclined to order drinks and food onboard because we were in good spirits and felt that we didn't need to wait until touchdown to allow vacation to begin. Cons: "When providing us alternative travel arrangements, Spirit staff took the easiest alternative flights rather than looking a little longer to provide alternatives that more closely matched our original travel agenda. Instead of a direct flight from Philly to Atlanta with a two hour travel time, we were offered a 6 hour ordeal with two stops, Boston and Charlotte."
Pros: "The best part of my flight to Atlanta was the price. The service for this leg from checking in through landing was excellent. The seats were pretty comfortable (although I'm not sure they reclined - couldn't see how they would), flight attendants friendly and capable, and I appreciated the announcement re where to find our checked bags."
Cons: "I didn't order coffee during this leg, having ordered it on my trip out and finding that it tasted like instant machine coffee.... I had an aisle seat, and the mother and young son next to me talked loudly during the entire flight, making it hard to concentrate in my reading in spite of wearing earplugs. But this has nothing to do with Spirit - simply their ignorance and lack of consideration and my being unwilling to speak with them about it."

It all started a couple weeks before the actual trip when I called their customer service number (it's a toll number NOT 1-800) and come to find out their call center is located in Asia. Talk about a language and culture barrier. The individual on the phone was not able to help me out due to their lack of speaking basic English. The trip itself started with a cabin that was disgustingly dirty from the previous flight and yes you WILL get buckled and dimed for everything! Want a Coke? It will cost you 3$. Need a boarding pass? 5$ In fact, to be able to carry on a small average sized suitcase it cost 45$. Seriously! 45$ just to carry on a smal suitcase and that price is just one way! Do yourself a favor and fly with a legacy carrier instead Delta, American, or United). Spirit has horrible customer service, dirty airplanes, and thy will nickle and dime every possible dollar from you! That's all!"
