Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Jet blue was amazing. They bit only upgraded my seats but they took care of what Hawaiian airlines refused to do due to the virus. Hawaiian cancled my flight home with no notification or warning. Jet blue picked up where they failed and not only rebooked my flight home for me, but contacted Hawaiian on my behalf so it would not cost me any more money. Jet blue was amazing"
Pros: "The seats were pretty comfortable."
Cons: "It would be nice if the flight attendant was a bit more friendly. Smile works."
Cons: "They rebooted the entertainment system several times which meant I lost my place in the movie I was watching and would have to start over. The onboard system was working fine for me others must have been having problems with it."
Pros: "All of it. I really like the eye masks for the red eye flight and the snacks are bomb!!!!!!!!"
Pros: "Arrived early! Smooth takeoff and landing no unnecessary cabin announcements (it was a red eye)"
Cons: "Free food beyond chips"
Cons: "Avery good"
Cons: "We where stuck in sju for 5 hour and the company said delay was weather and weather good verified in other companies. When we called st Thomas JetBlue they said we where waiting for other people. Information was confirmed with local JetBlue crew. They lied to us and no option presented."
Pros: "Crew was friendly, personable, but also efficient."
Pros: "Jet Blue just seems to go the extra mile. Everything seems just a click nicer than American and United."
Cons: "Nothing in particular. The crew made it as pleasant an experience as possible."
Pros: "Lots of leg room, love the personal entertainment system. I’ve never been in first class but that looked better than the other planes I’ve been on too!! Meditations for anxious flyers?? Wonderful!"
Cons: "Only thing that could’ve been better was getting my booze for free. Otherwise, I was legitimately surprised at how great the accomodations were!"
Cons: "Boarding was chaotic. Food fees should be included into ticket price ("free"). Food quality should also be improved."
Cons: "The delay !!"
Pros: "Jet Blue always has great Flight Attendants, comfortable seats and in flight TV"
Pros: "The gate process to boarding was excellent"
Cons: "There was broken TVs no running water so no hot beverages no bathrooms on a 2 hour flight and I’m pregnant so that was u comfortable and the flight attendants were not very accommodating or helpful in fact almost boarder line rude if they say something mean but use a nice voice that doesn’t make it acceptable"
Pros: "It's so sad that passengers cannot be offered even water to drink."
Cons: "Nothing to drink. But I really appreciate the spacious leg room."
Pros: "Quick boarding left on time comfortable seats overall best flying experience I have had"
Cons: "Got to the gate one minute late and wouldn’t let me on"
Pros: "Excellent Jet Blue experience from Baggage Check in at counter and flight attendants . Very personal ; customer service."
Cons: "Nothing; everything very good!"
Cons: "Pets were allowed on the flight, and we had no prior knowledge of this. I happened to be allergic to furry animals, especially cats and dogs. There were two dogs on board, one in a row toward the front and one in the back. There was nowhere that I could go and allergens were probably circulated in the system. There was also a terrible odor that several others said they could also smell. The attendant said that there was nothing that could be done, and we suffered through the entire flight. Also, the TV control was broken and there was no option to turn off the TV. The attendant said that there would be a $25 voucher issued for compensation. We have not heard a peep from anyone!"
Pros: "The flight was good. My credit card/wallet... leather brown.... was lost after going through security in seattle and has not been found"
Cons: "Being rushed after being searched. The fact that no one assisted as was requested for a non medical assist."
Pros: "We got in ahead of schedule."
Cons: "The staff seemed tired and overworked. I got hit in the head by a flight attendant with the snack tray. An accident but still. Once we landed and we’re at the gate it took almost 40 min to get off the plane. That was ridiculous. Then after the long walk to baggage, luggage was still not there. Again we waited. Too much waiting after a long flight. I fly to NYC all the time and I’m usually in the city one hour after I land and it took 2 hours 15 min to get to Queens. Usually I have great flights with JetBlue. Last night was not the case. You get a C."
Pros: "Flight attendants were great."
Cons: "Red eye flight was delayed over an hour. Caused me to miss my connection in the AM, my two new options were an out of state airport or a six hour wait at the airport. Unfortunately the girl who sat next to me had panic attacks and ‘seizures’ the whole flight long, requesting medical personnel on board and the constant attention of the attendants. No sleep to be had. By far my worst experience flying all around."
Pros: "I loved how new the plane was. It felt modern unlike nearly every other plane I’ve been on. Complimentary eye mask and ear plugs are a fantastic touch. Great crew. Kyayak app made it very easy"
Cons: "Paid $80 for preferred seating. Got leg room, but no tv and you can’t have any carry on bags on the floor, only in overhead."
Cons: "Checking in was difficult for me. My husband was able to check in through the cruise line. when we got to the airport the counter was not open. i checked in but did not get a seat assignment. When we got to the gate our flight to Boston was delayed until 3am from midnight. I tried getting a seat assignment but was told I had to wait until all the other flights were taken care of. I finally got my seat with my husband after 10p. I am a very nervous flyer so this was very nerve racking for me. But once I got my seat I calmed down. We always fly Jet Blue when we can. The flight itself was wonderful. And the counter folks were very patient with the customers dealing with delays."
Pros: "Friendly and helpful crew"
Pros: "Once on board everything went well. Full can of soda pop is always nice. Such a small thing yet it is appreciated and noticed."
Cons: "Not the fault of the crew, couple hours late."
Pros: "More leg space than other airlines even without doing the “even more leg space” option. Comfortable coach seats. All the entertainment features worked and worked well. Ample snacks and drinks."
Cons: "Some crew seemed like they had an edge. Passenger with aisle seat kept hitting my console buttons and screwing up the volume on my screen by leaning on my arm rest. Boarding was chaotic."
Pros: "Nothing particularly"
Cons: "My seat"
Pros: "Long Beach airport value of flight cost"
Pros: "Plane was on time"
Cons: "Ear jack to TV was broken, TV's were dated, I mean very dated. No in flight movies.6 hours of staring at the back of a seat."
Pros: "Seems like slightly more leg room on this flight than some of the competitors"
Cons: "TV system was broken on our flight (which was long, SEA-BOS), and there was only one chance to have a snack (which I missed)."
Pros: "The boarding process went so smoothly."
Cons: "One flight attendant, a tall gal with brown hair, talked so loudly to her crew mate through out the flight that we could hear her over our ear buds. She made sleep impossible until the last 45 mins of the trip."
Pros: "Super friendly flight attendants. We also enjoyed that the pilot gave a thorough weather update :)"
Pros: "Good leg room; free movies were great!"
Cons: "Can’t think of anything!"
Cons: "Delayed departing SeaTac due to broken bin, so sat at gate over a half an hour. As a result missed rental car pick up time in Long Beach on a holiday weekend. Had to rent from another higher cost rental car firm as was a “walk up rate renter”. Spent an hour getting the last rental car which of course reeked of pot smoke smell, and was a compact."
Pros: "Deplaning from the rear was great. Allowed us to get off quickly. They offered a variety of snacks and had space for our carry ones."
Cons: "Landing was rough."
Cons: "Center seat. It seems the only way to get a good seat is to pay for it:("
Cons: "crew very unfriemdly"
Pros: "The crew is always friendly and helpful"
Pros: "The crew seemed capable and came around a couple times with water. We arrived safe and sound as one would hope for, if an hour or so later than scheduled. Seats seemed roomier than most standard economy/coach (probably due to it being an older model). Though I didn’t partake they seemed to offer more complimentary snack options than other airlines."
Cons: "The airplane cabin had a strong urine odor that endured throughout the red-eye flight, the air temperature had to have been at least 75 degrees, probably 80 which was a bit stifling. No usb/power at the seat which would be preferable/should be standard by now for a coast-to-coast flight. Seat didn’t recline which isn’t the end of the world but a bit of a bummer. My headphones didn’t work with the little screen at my seat but it’s ok because based on my neighbor’s screen it was just a rotating lineup of Jet Blue commercials/fake tv shows that I can easily pass on."
Pros: "Attendants were friendly and customer service focused the entire flight. Good leg room for a 6 foot one inch male."
Cons: "Seats a little firm."
Pros: "Crew was very nice"
Pros: "The woman at the check in desk was great in helping me to find a decent seat."
Cons: "Your web system did not allow me to choose a seat and wasted a lot of my time. Blue chips are now mixed with sweet potato, ruining the experience."
Pros: "Low fares. On time departures and arrivals."
Cons: "Americans today travel with hand luggage and duffels which should be in the hold as ticketed baggage. This practise delays boarding, delays disembarkation, makes the aircraft top heavy in takeoff and landing and creates 'pop open and drop' type accidents. Nothing larger than a purse should be allowed as hand carry."
Pros: "The service was great"
Pros: "We landed safely."
Cons: "It was freezing. We boarded 1 1/2 hours late. The stewards were a bit short and not very patient. I saw people being allowed to board with way more bags than you said were permitted and some of the on plane bags were so huge that the front people had to check their bags at the last minute. Boarding was slow as it was clear that the stuff was not fitting in the overhead compartments. What happened to dimensions of bag restrictions? It is frustrating to the people that abide by the rules to see them so flagrantly ignored."
Pros: "The boarding process was good. Other airlines should adopt the 'boarding from the back of the plane to the front' process."
Cons: "But everything else about the flight was not great. The crew was slow (though they were polite and friendly). Movie and TV show selections were not bad, but the sound quality was so terrible that it was impossible to hear the movie."
"The plane is old and really small. Crew was great"
Cons: "It sure what could have been better other than all bulkhead seats are terrible for taller people."
Pros: "I was able to return home after my flight had been cancelled."
Cons: "While rebooking my flight from Phoenix the rebooking agent been yelling at me to pull my mask back after I was trying to answer her questions while trying talk over all the other customers. I feel that it was unnecessary and over done."
Cons: "I was in the only full row on the plane. The flight attendant waited until we couldn’t move to offer us to move to empty rows. By the time we were able to move, the other people in the row were sleeping. I wanted to stretch but couldn’t. Not a great way to start 2021."
Cons: "No masks"
Cons: "First time wearing face mask all the time. It was okay."
Cons: "When I arrived to check in at 5:48am for my 6:20am flight, I was treated very poorly. The lady at the counter asked me what time my flight was and I said 6:20 and right off the bat she was extremely rude and said that I missed the flight. I panicked internally and asked her how that was possible?! She said the cutoff was at 5:45am and I missed it. I asked if there were other flights available today or tomorrow and she said there was nothing she could do and that I had to call the booking company to see if they could book me. I wanted to cry because my friend had just dropped me off and I called to see if she was close enough to turn back. Luckily she hadn’t left yet. I called the booking company and they were able to book me a trip for the following day but they charged me an additional $100. I wish they had disclosed that we need to be there 45 minutes to an hour early otherwise you miss your flight. And it’s ridiculous that I had to pay an extra $100... financially it was stressful due to the covid 19 situation. I was extremely disappointed in how the lady at the check in counter at American Airlines treated me. She www extremely rude and I have never been spoken to in a way that made me feel attacked."
Pros: "The staff at seatac airport were condescending and not helpful...traveling with a service dog and made to pay the pet fee and talked about me where I can over hearnthen in a manner that embarassed me"
Cons: "A little discouraged that AA doesn’t offer a TV in the headrest for 1st class customers"
Pros: "Absolutely positively nothing."
Cons: "Everything literally!! Plane down for maintenance, rebooked four times and not willing to spend 48 hours in an airport due to incompetence. Never flying American Airlines. Will use Delta from now on."
Pros: "Good crew, appeared to work we’ll together."
Cons: "Could not figure out how to plug in ac for charging devices. Should have some educational label somewhere on that."
Pros: "Crew was efficient and pleasant making for a good experience."
Pros: "Seats were comfortable. Did not cramp anywhere entire flight. Great air vent control."
Cons: "Boarding was weird. Many Passengers in the last rows put their bags up by row 20 so that made boarding and disembarking slower and harder as we had to go forward extra rows to use the back empty bins and then fight against traffic to get back to our seats. Passing bags up when leaving or waiting to"
Pros: "The internet and movies"
Cons: "The AC was not turned up it was very hot and even after I asked nothing was done."
Pros: "Crew was amazing. Seats were comfo"
Pros: "Seats in first class were comfortable. It was nice to get a cocktail right away."
Cons: "A real snack would have been nice after boarding"
Pros: "Attentive crew. Traveling with 2 seniors in their 80’s. Thank you."
Cons: "Nothing. Perfect."
Pros: "Great crew. Falafel meal was delish."
Cons: "My seat was broken and didn’t recline. I booked first class bc of a bad back, so I count on that. Salad was wilted and gross. Plane didn’t have plug ins for phone! Entertainment system didn’t work well- movie kept buffering. Sky texting wouldn’t work either."
Pros: "The trip went as scheduled and arrived on time. The service was good making it a pleasant experience overall."
Cons: "As with most airlines, the seating is cramped."
Cons: "Missed the flight"
Pros: "One of the few non-stop flights between Seattle and Philadelphia. Timing is perfect if you can sleep on a red-eye flight. Fairly empty flight. enough empty seats to move and stretch out."
Cons: "No entertainment center built-in to the seats. On board WiFi can be used to access movies and other entertainment on the your own device but make sure your battery is charged and you have an external battery also since the seats don't have power. I tried to sleep but it is not easy for me to fall sleep when the seat back reclines only 3 inches so I didn't have luck taking a nap. Conclusion: I am not taking this flight any more. I will go back to taking will switch back to flying Delta even though there are no direct flights."
Pros: "They were rude and disrespectful."
Cons: "They were rude and disrespectful."
Pros: "Even though looked like I had selected a seat assignment they were not booked. On first leg of trip had to wait until a couple agreed to be bought off their seats before we could be boarded. Very misleading."
Cons: "Boarding could be improved if they would start boarding from the back of the plane to the front after boarding 1st class and Priority this way people would not block the passage when putting their luggage in the top compartments. The crew was not very helpful because I almost went into a hypothermia condition because the air in the cabin was extremely cold. When I ask for a blanket one of the stewardesses said that AA would no longer have blankets in flight which I prove it wrong when I saw in the flight Mai-SDQ blanquets all over the cabin. The soliton they gave me was that they would ask the crew to raise the temp in the cabin, I had to make the request three times and I had to tell the stewardess that if not raising the temperature in the cabin I could have gone into an emergency hypothermia crisis. I had to take another shirt from my carry-on to put it over my shirt to warm me up."
Cons: "Flights had to be changed due to a delay on first flight that would make it impossible to take the connecting flight. My route and airlines were completely changed, which caused a big delay in original arrival time. In addition to that, my luggage did not make it and I'm still waiting to find out where my suitcases are. Very disappointed."
Pros: "On time and the staff was great"
Cons: "I didn’t take my outbound so they cancelled my return flight without notifying me. I had to pay $200 to buy my seat back. American is about as bad as spirit.."
Pros: "For this flight I was seated in first class (I scheduled it this way; it wasn't due to a last minute upgrade) and the flight attendant was very personable and attentive :-) Service was wonderful and the meal was great! Of course, the flight attendant made sure to keep our beverages topped off as needed. It was a wonderful experience"
Cons: "The boarding process for just about any airline is nearly identical. It always seems like it takes longer to board than expected even if, in reality, it's not an unreasonable amount of time. The only think I didn't care for was that overhead storage in the area I was sitting was just about full by the time I was seated which meant that I had to store my carry on a few rows behind where I sat. This meant that during off-boarding I needed to go against the flow of people to get back to my carry on. All in all, it was a minor inconvenience."
Pros: "Our pilot was great. Kept us informed, was pleasant and got us in early. I appreciated the extra information he provided regarding expected turbulance and arrival updates."
Cons: "There wasn't individual entertainment unless i used my own device."
Pros: "The one flight attendant that realized how shitty of a situation they placed me in."
Cons: "American Airlines made me take all clothes out of carry-on, took my brand new AWAY bags, and made me stuff my clothes and other belongings into 5 plastic bags. All because they said my bag was illegal to fly on plane (whether it was checked in or not). Turns out they didn’t have to do that. What a crock."
Cons: "For the planes first flight of the day the crew deicing process caused a 75 minute delay. On return flight at 10:15 pmwe waited on the runway for over 30 minutes because the ground crew wasn’t ready. There were no other planes in or out anytime near our landing"
Pros: "seats comfy, seemed like a newer plane, crew was lovely."
Cons: "usual complaints about domestic flights - not having free headphones and not having free snacks."
Pros: "The flights were good. The cancellation was handled poorly."
Cons: "AA’s flight was canceled from Seattle to JFK. The flight was then rescheduled to Newark and then Orly. The main problem is that the change didn’t include the infant on lap ticket and ended up with 2 hours in Newark trying to rectify the situation."
Cons: "Luggage allowance policy was not clear, so that they can try to charge passengers extra fee. Airline blames on one another when it comes to connecting flight if we purchased a one stop flight"
Pros: "Boarding was okay, flight was on time departing and arriving."
Cons: "No USB chargers in the seats for SEA-MIA segment of trip, but they had it for short hour flight from MIA-SJU? Long haul flights need the USB outlets!!"
Pros: "It was on time. Flight crew did a very good job and were very nice. The Meal was excellent as was the coffee. Overall, service was excellent."
Cons: "First Class needs a total redo as the seats were not as nice as on newer planes. Rest room in First Class is way too small and cramped. WiFi did not work well, and there were no individual screens on the backs of the seats. The First Class on this plane was really bad and needs some rethinking by American."
Pros: "I would like if for my return from Paris to Chicago, Chicago Seattle I would be greeted by the personal and offered to flight first class without extra charge to compensate for the bad experience on my way going in. Thank you"
Cons: "I was told I would be able to choose the seats only 24 hours before the flight by going online. I tried to choose the seats online but could not have access to the site. I then called the number provided to ask for more help, and was told that I could then only choose the seats at the check in time. I was at the airport 2 hours before the flight schedule to book my seat and was told them that I could only choose the seats at the gate. Once I got at the gate I asked the person to please give me a seat at the aisle for medical reasons but after waiting until the boarding process had started I was giving a middle seat. Not only I was treated as a stand by passenger that had not purchased the tickets I was put nt on group 8 and at the moment of boarding the gate personal aggressively grabbed my carry-on bag because they insisted there was no more spaces in the compartment above heads. Once I got inside of airplane I saw many empty compartments available for carry-on luggage. I wish I had not purchased my ticket with Iberia Airlines operated by American Airlines. It was not a good, pleasant experience and do not recommend. I wil certainly avoid in the future and not travel this way another time. Thanks"
Cons: "I really can't believe that this flight didn't have in headrest screens or USB power to keep you devices charged. This was a 6 hour flight across the US. If they don't provide entertainment, at least let the people charge their devices."
Pros: "Food was good, crew was friendly, cordial which is not good at all on flights by United Airlines, Delta American Airlines and Air Canada. Flight from Miami-Sao Paulo was nice and no too long as when I fly through Toronto by Air Canada or through Chicago by USA airlines."
Cons: "They cancelled my flight in the middle of the night and rebooked for 3 hours later really strapping me for time at my destination"
Pros: "When I arrived at the airport to see the scheduled 9:30a departure was pushed back to 1pm, the gate crew did a good job of keeping us updated and they even provided lunch! The plane was undergoing maintenance but they found another plane and did not have to cancel the flight, and ultimately got us to our destination safely. Crew was very nice."
Cons: "Flight was delayed 4 hours so my half day of travel became a full day, half of which was mostly wasted at the airport. Would rather have been with my family than sitting at the airport."
Cons: "We were told the overhead was full, so we had to check our bags, but once we boarded there were complete compartments empty. I suspect they were just trying to depart earlier."
Pros: "Customer Service at SEA was great. we were checking bags directly to Madrid and they were very helpful"
Cons: "I had paid for a Bulk head seat Row 7. But since we had a in Cabin pet, my wife was moved down to Row 18 and a much smaller seat. I need to get a refund for the price I paid."
Cons: "Gate agent said there was a maintenance problem that just needed maintenance to sign off. Over heard maintenance work while boarding that could not get message on computer of problem. Pushed back and sat on tarmac for 10-20 minutes as pilot said they worked through maintenance issue."
Pros: "The employee working the desk in Seattle was great. Long lines to check in and she took the time to assign us seats next to each other. Loved the bonus of the seats being in an exit row."
Cons: "Flight changed with no notification."
Cons: "Your plane needs outlets to charge electronics. Unless your gonna show movies on your flights, ppl need a way to entertain themselves for the flight. If they burn through all their battery power, it's an inconvenience to try to charge it in the airport when they land. All of the outlet Chargers in Chicago, Seattle and Philly were broke as well. The U tied wing was amazing. Your prices are great but to keep ppl from rather paying more just for one or two more luxuries, try fixing this."
Pros: "Very efficient boarding, comfortable coach seats, good crew"
Cons: "No food! except pretzels and sandwiches for purchase. I didn't purchase a sandwich but the two guys next to me did and were both vocal about their disappointment with what they received for $9. And they were strangers who didn't talk to each other the rest of the time, so I think they meant it. Also, entertainment: they had a movie on the pop-down screens, and 4 free movies to stream to your device using onboard wifi, as well as 2 tv shows. So maybe I'm being harsh. But it was a transcontinental flight and they didn't have headrest screens loaded with movies. Is this only for international flights? The movies were bad, or at least not appealing to me ('Keanu' and 'Zoolander 2'). It was possible to pay for additional movies, but who wants to do that? It was sort of the EasyJet model, where you get good basic service but pay for everything additional that one gets for free on Delta. Maybe that was reflected in the price I paid for the ticket, but I was expecting that AA would be in the same league as United and Delta. One nice perk: free wifi for T-Mobile customers, including me."
Pros: "The professionalism of the crew."
Cons: "The flight left late and they did not explain why their was a delay. The landing was not smooth. It was a rough landing."
Cons: "My flight was changed 3 times-- always pick a window seat and was changed to aisle seat. The attitude at the ticket counter was "you're lucky to get any seat", flight was overbooked, the boarding process and deplaning were absurd with all the people bringing on way too much carry on luggage !!! It takes almost 30 min to get off the plane!!"
Pros: "My window seat"
Cons: "I wasn't able to check in to my flight 24 hours prior to my flight on my AA app and or website. Also wasn't able to check in at kiosk at airport therefore had to wait in line to check in with a clerk which slowed my whole trip mood down."
"Delayed flight was communicated in advance but still led to a missed connection"
Pros: "Everyone was nice and helped with any questions I had"
Cons: "Logging into the internet from the iPad"
Pros: "The crew was nice. When I finally arrived in Denver, Marlin in customer service was the only saving grace for United for me. When I asked for options for an earlier flight into Rapid City so I didn’t have to wait 24 hours and miss my visit with my sister, he looked at different hubs (Chicago, Minneapolis) to see if they had any available flights into Rapid, he checked for double bookings, and when he couldn’t find anything, he put me on the standby list for the first flight out in the morning and wrote down the flight information for all of the United flights from Denver for the following day. Marlin provided excellent customer service and was a huge credit to the company."
Cons: "The flight was supposed to leave at 3:56 pm and didn’t leave until 7:30 pm. I would estimate at least 15-20 people missed connecting flights because of the delay. According to the United app, the delay initially started in Portland due to mechanical issues, which took over 3 hours. Then, there was a weather delay in San Francisco according to the gate agent - there was a ground hold and no planes were landing or flying out. At some point, I would think another plane would have been an option rather than delaying a flight for this long and disrupting holiday travel for so many people."
Pros: "All the flights were on time."
Cons: "If the flight left on time - I missed my connection"
Pros: "Nice, normal flight."
Cons: "Pilots not there on time, arrived perhaps 30 minutes late, didn’t say why."
Pros: "I had really awful sinus pain on the flight and the crew was very helpful and sympathetic"
Cons: "The entertainment system was pretty lame (DirectTV) and of course the now-typical lack of food and beverage items for domestic flights"
Pros: "Was your standard airlplane."
Cons: "Plane was delayed due to a mechanical, then again because the cleaning crew didn’t do a good enough job the first time, then a seat mechanical, and then the truck used to back out onto the tarmac broke down"
Pros: "Nothing, and I’m a very agreeable person.... Always"
Cons: "Every person employed by United is either overworked until the point of jadedness is issued with their first paycheck, or they get paid in Monopoly money. There were flight delays, and really I was good with that, but when I approached a staff member, he literally said “what do you want?!” Before I even opened my mouth. The phone lines are operated by someone in a foreign country. And after the flight caused me an overnight layover, they offer you a measly discount voucher for a place to stay. I can only hope that someone out there is getting better treatment than the poor people I saw on this flight, or at any united desk I attempted to get help from."
Pros: "The boarding was quick and the flight was on time. The crew was courteous."
Cons: "I selected economy comfort in the kayak app, but when I called about my boarding pass, kayak said they only sell basic economy. What did I buy? UAL only sells a limited selection of overpriced food. There is no music and you have to pay to see the flight map."
Cons: "We missed the whole vacation due to United flt. 599 being late into SFO. We missed the Zurich flight by 7 minutes due to a mechanical issue (overhead bin lid would not stay closed.) United customer service was very poor and after 16 hrs. at SO without resolution on flights and schedule, we just came back home. If Siss Air could have waited 10 minutes for 12 or more passengers, we would have been fine. I don't know if United communicated with them or not. This was a disaster!"
Cons: "The ground crew seems not to have a good understanding of the available over-head space and asks passengers to checks bags in unnecessarily. For the second time in a row, I was told that there is no overhead space left and that I need to check my bag while I was boarding. I saw that this wasn't the case when I got on board. Needless to say that waiting to pickup my carry-on at my destination added an unnecessary half an hour to my trip."
Cons: "My only real issue was that, upon checking in online, I was informed that my boarding pass would be emailed to me. I don't believe it ever was. I checked all of my various email folders, including spam, and saw nothing."
Pros: "Although I arrived a few minutes late, the check-in agent managed to get my bag on the flight. When I missed my flight, the agent quickly got me on another flight (with a competitor airline), with no additional charge."
Cons: "The short (10 minute) boarding window contributed to me missing my flight (by a few minutes). Very annoying."
Pros: "Gates for connecting were close and even with delay, I made it on time."
Cons: "Flight delay, that made the short connection even shorter"
Pros: "They had blankets waiting on our seats for us, which was really nice!"
Cons: "The seats were horribly uncomfortable and hardly budged when "reclined". It made for a miserable red eye experience."
Pros: "I know it’s out of the hands of the airline but we were delayed due to weather. Luckily they booked us on another flight but it was the next morning."
Cons: "I know there are clauses saying that United does not have to do anything to accommodate you if it’s bad weather but we did not get anything for our inconvenience. Most airlines will seem to help you with hotels or food and whatnot if you had to be rebooked. We ended up booking a hotel through the Hotel Tonight for a great rate although it’s unrefundable. Turns out we get to the airport and our original connecting flight was severely delayed and we would have made it on to that flight. So either way we were stuck with a loss."
Pros: "No one died."
Cons: "The flight 586 was late and despite having two hours to wait in SF the flight got to SF just as the connection was finished boarding. I had to run from a gate in the 60s to 84D and the people at 84D were whining about my getting to them so late. United Airlines needs to get its stuff together!"
Cons: "My friend and I have taken our hiking packs to Alaska, California, Washington, and all along the East coast. Never have we been asked to check our packs. I was mostly surprised, at first. Once I was seated a man in front of me had his hiking pack and two ukuleles in their cases, neither of which could fit under his seat. That's when I became frustrated. O This plane sucks: our knees were slammed into the seat in front of us because the chairs are so close together. No USB plugs. Plane was dirty, scuff marks on the wall and ceiling. There was paper in the pouch that looked like a mouse had chewed on it."
Cons: "Great flight"
Cons: "Now Sherry in any documentation I received did it say that my flight was operated by United airlines. I waited at ANA check in until within the 2 hour window and went around and asked someone at United who confirmed that they were partners with ANA."
Pros: "Luggage bag broken by baggage handlers"
Cons: "Luggage bag broken by baggage handlers"
Pros: "When I booked this flight four months ago, nothing indicated that these seats would not recline (since they are in front of an exit). That's not something I knew and that fact made it a bit brutal on an overnight flight, especially when the people in front of us could recline their seats. It should be easy and reasonable to add such info in the booking process."
Cons: "There is just something very bare-bones about flying now: modest food or drink, little effort to entertain except on your own equipment. It's functional--does the job."
Pros: "Nothing at all flights not on time crew very un helpful and not nice"
Cons: "Delay in connecting flight from Seattle to Denver caused us to board our plane to Grand Rapids moments before the doors closed. Had we missed our flight, an unpaid work day would have incurred as we would not have arrived in Grand Rapids until the following afternoon."
Pros: "On time."
Cons: "New looking plane but the TVs behind all the chairs were locked without a credit card. The new chairs looked great until you sat in them. I'm 5'10" and my knees were already brushing up against the seatback in front of me. If you push the recline button on the armrest, the chair doesn't go back (of course it doesn't, the person's legs behind me are probably up against my chair anyway). Multiple people around me were also asking around if the chairs recline. I have a mild back injury and sitting up at 90 degrees the entire way was very uncomfortable."
Pros: "I liked the legroom of Economy Plus. The flight itself was good. Didn't buy any food."
Cons: "We arrived late in Denver and had to sit at the gate and wait for the jetway person to arrive and connect the jetway to the plane. I also didn't like the fact that I had to buy Economy Plus because my wife and I were not only not assigned seats together after booking, we were not assigned seats at all. When I booked the flights I was only allowed to choose seats for the first flight - Charlotte to Houston...but not for the other three legs of our Charlotte to Seattle trip. The only two seats together from Houston to Seattle were in the very last row. And, on our return flight we had to purchase Economy Plus in order to sit together."
Pros: "More important than the trip home last Wednesday was the reason for the trip. We attended my granddaughter's wedding. Everything else was secondary. Even if the trip had been in a one wheeled barrow, it would have been good. To get to what you want which is the mechanics of the trip. The two people who attended to the aisle chair, most teams were competent. Some hadn't done many passengers so they were fumbling with the straps. I've learned that I almost alway have to ask for one at the gate where they check or issue, (what's it called, loading permits, some kind of pass, not landing pass. loading pass. I can't remember and my wife has gone to bed.) Well, they have to come up with an aisle chair because I've only got 1 1/2 legs. I always make it to the seat on the plane, but the competency of the various crews is uneen. Sorry my answer is so nonspecific but I don't remember one airline from another. Great people all, get the job done."
Cons: "Not much I don't like. They get us there That is the main thing. Sometimes when the plane stops after it has pulled away from the Jet Way, the pilot gives an explanation that I find unfulfilling, not enough details. I suppose if they explained more, other fliers would find the explanation too verbose. I can live with it. Again this is about all flights and airlines. Nothing stands out, such as, " this awful thing happened when we left San Francisco.""
Pros: "Flight was smooth and on time"
Cons: "The boarding gate attendants were rude and uncaring when we asked them to help us switch pre-assigned seats to ensure our two year old sat with us. While we might have understood better had they been empathetic, they were rude and uncaring and said when you book online you sign a waiver and they can not do anything about this. Wow. This was our flight back. Originally on the way to our destination we had used Delta and that customer service experience was completely different even though that flight was full too. Never flying United again as long as I can avoid it."
Pros: "The flight"
Cons: "The time"
Cons: "The fact that I was stranded in Colorado due to weather and they would not refund my ticket even though I had purchased insurance. They wouldn't even give me a credit. Will have to think twice about doing business through KAYAK and United from now on."
Cons: "Will NEVER fly United again. Going home to advise EVERYONE I know not to fly United. They straight suck. Starving people on long flights with hot food for a third of the plane?!?!?! Then telling me I'm wrong for expecting a meal on an almost 7 hour flight?!?!?! &, even better, the reason my son & I starved all morning, day , & evening because EVERY single flight (all 3) were late, one so much so that we almost missed the connecting flight. Wow, is all I can say. After I still have United a chance after assaulting that poor man. Beyond highly disappointed."
Pros: "The flight was smooth"
Cons: "The air hosts were in friendly and didn't say goodbye. The cabin was improperly pressurized and hurt my ears going up and landing. My ear is still popping."
Cons: "My fiancé and I packed a suitcase together and it was 3lbs over the 50lb limit. They refused to let it slide and when we asked how much it would be if we left it they said it would cost us $100 for an oversized bag. We already paid the $25 so it makes no sense for it to cost $100 more. They were completely unreasonable and not helpful. Not to mention the flight was an hour late. Our flight on the way out was completely cancelled all together and no one bothered to tell either of us. Then they rerouted us on completely different flights! We had to basically throw a fit to get on the same flight, which ended up being 8 hours AFTER our original flight was supposed to leave. The entire experience was a disaster and I will never fly united again."
Pros: "Barb M. was at the front desk at the United Lounge. She is an incredibly kind human being. I was very sick and this flight was delayed so it was going to cause me to miss my connecting flight overseas. She tried all that she could to rebook me on a different flight but the problem was the destination's air traffic control, not the airplane, so it wasn't going to fix the problem. I was able to rebook my connecting flight, at a cost, but at least I wasn't going to miss it. Barb went and made me hot tea with fresh ginger, mint leaves, and honey for my throat. Through a difficult situation, she was a ray of sunshine and kindness."
Cons: "Every time I travel United, it is delayed. I don't understand why. In this situation the problem was the airline so I understand that is beyond what United controls."
Pros: "The flight attendants were nice. Other than that, nothing."
Cons: "Maybe it's because I haven't flown in a few years but it seems that the airlines are packing in as many seats as they can, without regard to the passengers who are shoved into tiny seats for 5+ hours without even being able to stretch their legs. We were in the last row where you can't even lean your seat back but the guy in front of me was just about in my lap the whole flight. Charging for in flight entertainment and meals also seems like the airlines care less for customer satisfaction than the money they can get from passangers. While boarding, we were stopped in first class because the flight attendant was in the aisle getting drinks for first class...Before all the passengers boarded. Also, why is every flight told they get one carry on plus a personal item when that isn't really the case? If the flight is full, apparently there is not enough room for each passanger to have a carry on so people who have delicate items packed in their carry ons have to surrender them and pray their precious vacation purchases aren't smashed when they get their luggage back. Quantity over quality."
Cons: "No space for even one carryon and I was told that the luggage space is not associated with my seat. People have more than 2 can bring them on board yet I have to check in and my valuable items were inside"
Cons: "My flight was cancelled they never told me , and after I explained to them I bought this ticket two hours ago because my grandmother and uncle were dying and I needed to get there, they lied to me told me I would be on a different flight and still get there at the same time. Well my flight was not the same time it was three hours different and if I made it there like they promised the first time I would have been able to kiss my grandma one last time. She died a hour before I got there. And now I'm fighting with them for a refund."
Pros: "The seats looked new."
Cons: "United had us board and unboard and then board again due to flight delays. United also told us the delay would be only 40 minutes, but I looked at the delay in SFO and it was 2 hours. Eventually United also increased our delay by 30 minute intervals until it was about 2 hours. Once I arrivied in SFO I got a text message notification stating my luggage had been put on an incorrect flight and I would have to return to get my luggage. The attendants at the podium were rude. This was my first terrible flying experience ever."
Cons: "People in group 5 don't have a chance to get their carry in bags in the over head storage."
Pros: "My other passengers in First Class. Your crew was also very kind and well mannered."
Cons: "I spent over 150 for an upgrade for a red eye for a flight I already spent over 500. Your crew lacked attention in service and one specific crew member (male) woke me up twice due to the loudness of his voice. Disappointed in the quality for the amount spent."
Pros: "Very friendly and helpful staff."
Cons: "The fact that we had a connecting flight to minot from Denver. Arrived late to Denver because of weather, but my stroller that I had left on the jetway in Seattle was never put on the plane which I didn't know until I got to minot. I was going to wait for it in denver, but I would have missed my flight to minot had I waited 5 more minutes. We arrived to minot only to find out that our 3 suitcases, one stroller and 2 car seats were never in the flight. Awful! And my connecting flight was even delayed an extra 55 min so I don't quite know where my things are."
Pros: "The people I sat next to."
Cons: "I missed my first flight because the plane left 15 min early. I was at the gate before the plane detached and the guy said I should be on the plane 15 min before and that he wasn't going to stop the plane from going. I had a business meeting that I was trying to get to so him doing this completely ruined my day and purpose for flying and spending $300 on a flight. I have NEVER experienced anything like this. Once on my rescheduled flight the attendant made several comments about the fact that I had a pillow with me. If you don't know someone situation then you should make any comments at all. I had just finished a 5 day drive across country and unfortunately the pillow needed to get home with me. Not a single employee was kind welcoming or helpful. I will never fly with this airline again. I will be letting EVERYONE I speak to know about this experience and I plan on writing reviews wherever I can find."
Pros: "We ended up getting a free bag check because the flight was full."
Cons: "One free bag check not included. Both legs of our flight were delayed. Even though I had brought an iPad, I couldn't figure out the entertainment system and couldn't download the entertainment app from the Apple app store (I couldn't get the store to open on the onboard wireless system to download the app)."
Pros: "The staff was pleasant and helpful."
Cons: "The flight was late but that was at no fault to the airline."
Pros: "United airlines seems no better or worse than most major airlines today."
Cons: "I am fed up with the herding mentality by most airlines. Since when did purchasing an economy seat mean you are not entitled to at least a modicum of comfort on a flight. The legroom provided now is no where near enough for any normal size human. Additionally it's still annoying to pay $25.00 for a single checked bag. I tried United after many years but will be returning to Southwest Airlines - in the long run it's less expensive. I realize nothing will change based on my opinion, regardless, it is more comfortable and dignified to take a Greyhound bus than to fly a major airline these days."
Pros: "Seats were okay as far as comfort level"
Cons: "This flight was overbooked. I had to be back at work the next day, so I really needed to take it. The gate agents wouldn't tell me what was going on, only that the flight was overbooked and that they were "trying to get me a seat." I stood there while all of the groups boarded, waiting for my ticket. I was the last person given a ticket. By the time I finally got to board, all overhead space was taken, so I had to gate check my bag. And then someone had taken the seat I was given, so I had to ask him to move, and he started crying (child). He cried for 20 minutes, so that was fun. Also, this was a red eye - I really wanted to sleep, but right as I was dozing off, the flight attendants turned on the lights for drink service. Overall, just a really poor experience and very hard to sleep."
Pros: "The crew was very accommodating."
Cons: "I was seated in the economy section. It was quite uncomfortable for a four hour flight. I'm 5'9" and didn't have enough space to stretch in the 737. I felt bad for the middle seat section because there was no room at all. I had an aisle seat and still didn't have enough room the stretch. There was no food or snacks served but the crew did offer free drinks: oj, tea, water, or soda. if you can upgrade to economy plus it's definitely worth it. Spend the money for it. You will have more leg room for sure."
"No entertainment. Seats uncomfortable."
Pros: "The boarding was relatively quick and it was timely"
Cons: "The additional costs at Spirit are ridiculous. The flight price totally fools you on the front end given the additional costs that come later. That said, the comfort is poor. Seats don’t recline and are poorly cushioned. I will not be choosing Spirit again for my future travel needs."
Cons: "Late leaving, really cramped seats"
Pros: "The plane took off The plane landed"
Cons: "The TSA agents were nicer and more helpful then Spirit reps. At the gate all they wanted was more money more money more money Not for themselves but for the airline. The wheels on my suitcase stuck out 1/2 inch so I was charged an extra $50 I asked if I take the wheels off would that help The agent said " I could charge you $60 how about that?" I WILL NEVER FLY Spirit again! And I recommend you find a different airline. I don't mind paying for what I get but when the company hides the charges until you get there. They should be in jail for bait and switch."
Pros: "Flight started and reached on time."
Cons: "Spirit agent didn't bother checking bag dimensions and forced to pay for the bag."
Pros: "Pilot was fantastic. Kept us informed as we had to wait a little getting to an open gate, but the landing was the smoothest I ever experienced."
Cons: "Your plans suck! The seat I used had a bar across the bottom that had no cushion. It should be taken out. And the fact that the seats don't recline is very bad for back and necks. It's a shame, riding in the is like riding in animal cargo."
Pros: "Nothing bad service I’m not going to use spirit ever again"
Cons: "Everything was bad"
Cons: "Sport seems cheaper in price but they really are not. Thank charge for carry on bags and claimed bags double then other airlines do. For the overall price I’ll go to another airline where it’s the same amount of money overall and way better comfort"
Pros: "Wide aisles"
Cons: "Pay for carry on, pay for soda beverage, Probably pay to use bathroom"
Pros: "In flight staff was nice and there was a cute service dog sitting across from us haha"
Cons: "Smallest seats I have ever had on a plane. Was cramped even though My boyfriend and I are both pretty small. The first airline I've flown that doesn't even offer tea or juice without a charge. We missed our first flight coming in, they didn't allow us to receive credit or a refund for the checked baggage fee we paid even though we didn't end up flying with them for that flight and said that it would cost us $100 to reschedule our flight to the next day (we ended up purchasing a same day flight with Alaska instead) Ground level staff was rude and unhelpful despite us being very polite and understanding of their policies. Spirit will charge you for EVERYTHING. By the time you've completed your flight, its possible to have paid double of the initial ticket charge. First time I have ever had such a poor airline experience."
Pros: "Cost effective if you're just trying to get your body somewhere."
Cons: "They nickel and dime you for eeeeverything. I was under the impression they're legally required to at least give you water but even that is like 4$ If you add anything to your flight, the cost immediately ceases to be competitive with Delta or the other less budget airlines. You even have to pay to select your seat at check in. Also, booking was a total catastrophe. Their online system is super faulty, I had to wait for an hour to get someone on the phone to fix it.... all while listening to a robot repeatedly tell me that it would be faster online -.-"
Pros: "Easy and quick boarding"
Cons: "You get what you pay for and the flight was super cheap. However, the nickle and dime gouging for bags was a turnoff. The main reason I'll never fly again though, was pure discomfort. The seats resemble metal folding chairs with fabric stretched over them and they don't recline - at all. For a cross country trip and a red-eye return these are deal breakers. Two days later and my back still aches. This airline does a good job at what it does, however, that's not very much. If you have more than two pennies to rub together, you'd be smart to sterr clear of it, as I will be doing from now on. Lesson learned and chalking this one up to experience."
Pros: "That we got to where we were going"
Cons: "The airline charges $10 per person to check in and talk to an agent. So we went to the self kiosk, where we ended up paying $57 for a carry on and $36 to get seats next to each other. When we told the agent on our way out how ridiculous those charges were, she said "you don't have to pay for that back pack. And if you booked the flight together you would be seated together and shouldn't be charged." We told her we would have known that if she would have helped us, and she shrugged her shoulders. No refund. No apology. This stupid airline charges for everything - even water. Horrible experience. You save money with a cheaper flight and spend more with the ridiculous cheapskate business model."
Pros: "Boarding was efficient."
Cons: "Bare bones is one thing but it was a flat out uncomfortable trip. Felt gouged by pricing policy despite being aware they are a budget carrier."
Pros: "This time they flew to the right airport."
Cons: "Flight delay, High baggage fee for a carry on, noisy food trays, seats uncomfortable, Crew was mixed. One attendant really snippy. Yes we know you're late by 2 plus hours...we are too and it's your aircraft. Called customer support and didn't resolve anything until the 3rd call. Still haven't seen my mileage club miles posted. Called customer support and was told I already flew that reservation. Well yes and where are the miles? Not one for the timid. Low fare until you add anything. Pay for baggage online prior to getting to the airport. It was 38 dollars on-line and 54 at the airport. That's for a carryon bag."
Cons: "Please do not use FlightNetwork as a third party booking service anymore. When I first booked my ticket through them, after finding the deal on kayak, they sent an email saying that the flight booking was pending. I had to call them to confirm they had actually booked the flight. Then they mispelled my email so I didn't receive a confirmation email from spirit until I called the airline directly. And then I found out that not only had FlightNetwork collected $20 for their poor services they had charged me for my flight in addition to spirit charging me for my flight. I was doubly charged for the same flight and was only alerted to it because I was skeptical of FlightNetwork's business practices and decided to double check my bank account. I am now in the process of getting a refund from FlightNetwork. I urge you to discontinue business with them as this experience seems to be characteristic of their company. My partner's flight was booked incorrectly and FlightNetwork's track record on Yelp is incorrigible."
Cons: "Cost adder for bags, seat, boarding, snacks. Add these to the fare and Spirit would NOT have been my choice. Seats do not recline - very uncomfortable. Seats too close together. Rude Spirit employees at baggage check-in and on the plane - it was clear their job was to find some way to charge more money. A bag that weighed 39 LBS in Houston and had the same clothes weighed 43 LBS in Seattle and resulted in a weight overcharge fee as they only allow 40LBS Max for checked luggage when everyone else allows more. No updates during flight of ETA. No entertainment options."
Pros: "Don't let the low price fool you! You will end up paying the same price for Spirit flight, very close to a similar ticket from other airlines. The only difference is that Spirit will charge you little by little (for carry on, boarding pass, check-in, etc.), plus offering you a very uncomfortable seat (unadjustable)."
Pros: "It was a terrible experience start to finish and I will never fly with Spirit again. It started off with inefficient and confusing lines and then it was delayed over 3 hours with no posted updates at the gate of explanations. There were no apologies or offers to amend the situation. The seats do not recline and the space is very cramped and I don't think it is actually legal to not offer free drinking water when passengers are stuck on board for over 6 hours which was the case for this flight. Only because after boarding everyone they realized the door wouldn't close properly and had maintenance work on it for over an hour. on my return trip to Seattle the check in process at BWI was even worse and the flight attendants were late to the gate so boarding was delayed. They also told me there were no available seats to transfer too, but once on board I discovered there were over 80 seats available on the flight. So she completely lied to me for no explainable reason. Over all I was appalled on both trips and quite frankly, the tickets are not that much less than any other airline going from BWI to SEA and back - the benefit of reasonable comfort and human decency far out weighs the possible 30 bucks I saved and then spent on a carry on bag. Spirit should not be allowed to operate, it is a shady and mean organization and I have made sure to broadcast my terrible experience to everyone I know. As a travel site you should really consider you're role in promoting such a dismal travel experience/airline. I am loyal to kayak and generally trust the validity of the site, but i am disappointed that I was encouraged to purchase such a terrible trip through your site and may consider different options in the future."
Cons: "No part of this flight was an enjoyable experience."
Pros: "The crew during the flight was pleasant."
Cons: "They say why're the cheapest airline around, and that's true....in the worst ways. The flight itself isn't expensive, but they charge $30 per bag you carry on and more for checked bags. They don't offer free water on long flights, and they make you pay for any and all beverages. Nothing is included in your flight. Their new planes, while 'green' and fuel efficient are unbearably uncomfortable to fly in. The seats are hard molded plastic with about an inch of padding and aren't adjustable T all. Flying more than four hours was pure hell, seated upright. Also, be sure to pay for your bag at the ticket counter. They charge you twice as much at the gate if you don't remember. And it's printed on your boarding pass, so don't think they're letting you off easy. It's a trap to get you to pay more."
Pros: "The planes are new"
Cons: "Cramped seats that don't recline. Not even free drinks. Deceptive prices with $9 fare club prices that are actually $60 and different luggage prices."
Cons: "Didn't like the extreme added on expenses. $57 for a checked bag to Seattle. No seat reservation fee going to Seattle. On the return $47 for a checked bag. Had to reserve a seat for the return. The fee started at $18 the website went down and upon getting back online the seat reservation fee increased from $18 to $20 in a matter of 1-2 minutes"
Cons: "It was delayed so much that I had to re-book so that I wouldn't be stranded on my connection waiting on standby. Costs for rebooking were over $100, which I had to pay out of pocket if I wanted to guarantee that I would get to my destination. Last time I flew with Spirit, their delays made me miss my connection and was stranded overnight. So I guess that Spirit's poor planning and delays mean that I will either have to pay double or be stranded, but at least I know that with Spirit I can always count on being late."
Pros: "Friendly staff"
Cons: "After 7-8 hours of delay after delay they boarded everyone onto the plane, let us sit there for 5-10 minutes and then asked us get off the plane. They then proceeded to tell us due to weather our flight would be cancelled. I stood in line for 2 hours for them to tell me the next flight our was not for another 5 days. They also did not place me in a hotel, thankfully I had a friend that lived close to the airport and I was able to crash there. I asked for my money back and rebooked my trip with Deta airlines. I guess I learned my lesson the hard way."
Pros: "A few (very few) helpful clerks in the end that got me a seat home."
Cons: "Other than the usual Spirit surprise up charges for basic services included in other airlines (which should be factored into the Kayak search engines more clearly from the start), the seats did not recline and minimal leg room made for a very uncomfortable flight from FL to CA. The topping on the cake was a cancelled flight getting home Ft. Lauderdale to St. Thomas. The 1250pm flight was delayed to 6pm due to weather even though several other flights were flying that same route at that time. Then the 6pm flight was cancelled due to weather. It was the lack of professionalism, accommodations and communications that followed that were horrendous. They would not address the group directly so we had to find out from the people at the front of the line trying to rebook that there were no seats available until Saturday and Sunday. It was Weds. They were not going to accommodate us in any way with the exception of refunding us for that leg. In my case that would have been a little over $100. Flights on other airlines were over $700. Families who could not afford that cancelled their vacations to St. Thomas. People, like myself, that were simply trying to get home got booked on Sunday flights. They put us on stand by but were unwilling to give us seats that were available. Finally, on Friday with making enough fuss and talking to the right people they reluctantly gave us seats. It appeared that because we had seats on Sunday that we were in no way a priority. Very disappointed, mostly for everyone who was trying to visit my island and said they will never come here. Thanks Spirits."
Pros: "Leg space in plane."
Cons: "Unknown fees for everything."
Cons: "Upon checking in, the guy working the counter said he didn't know how to put in my TSA precheck number and that was going to be it. I had to ask him to please ask his colleague, who showed him in 3 seconds. Not exactly great customer service. Then for boarding, the woman called the group numbers out of order, causing confusion. The seats were so incredibly uncomfortable, I could not sleep at all! It was an overnight flight to boot. Ugh. Never again will I fly this airline. I felt lucky to make it to the east coast. There was no confidence instilled by the employees."
Cons: "Return Flight on 5/31 / #770 Detroit to Seattle: upon arriving at the Detroit airport learned we had to pay $59 per carry on bag. DID NOT have to do that for first flight from Seattle. Nickel & dimed the whole flight . Paid more than we would have with other preferred airline which we normally travel Impersonal service Broken seat in front of me so that tray did not operate & leg room - what there was of it - very compromised Staff on board are sloppy when giving instructions, especially on the intercom. Need speaking training. Talk way to fast, slur their words. Will NEVER fly Spirit again. You get what you pay for."
Pros: "The plane was nice looking, that's about it."
Cons: "My arrival flight was dirty, I believe I contracted some kind of rash from the nasty seat, the crew almost tried to find a way to charge me for napkins while I was attempting to clean the seat, I had to pay $180 for one carry on each for my fiance and I RT, the return flight was delayed, back on time, then delayed 3x which caused us to miss an opportunity for a late check out from our hotel and we spent 4 unnecessary hours at the airport. I will never recommend Spirit or travel with them again."
Cons: "Never EVER have I flown with an airline that charges you for carry-on luggage. If I would have known this and all the other extra hidden fees, including (extra chargers for checking passengers in..etc) I most definitely would have picked a different airline. To make matters even worse, they never once told me while checking in at their airline counter that they charge for carry on luggage. So.. when I arrived to my boarding gate, they announced that all carry on luggage was an additional fee of $100.00, unless already checked in at the counter for their base rate of $60.00 FOR A CARRY ON.... In order to board my flight, I had to pay $100.00 for one tiny little suitcase. I was beyond aggravated. It felt like this airlines entire intentions were to scam every passenger that boarded. At one point on the flights, as the flight attendants were going through the emergency procedures, a passengers behind me said "You will only give us our oxygen masks, for an additional charge" I will NEVER fly with Spirit Airline again. Every employee that I came across during my travels were incredibly rude, and very unhelpful. Spirit does have cheaper flights, but after all the up-charges you end up paying way more than you will if you just book with another airline."
Pros: "Spirit is a low cost airline. You save money flying with them as long as you only bring one personal item and print your boarding pass from home."
Cons: "Leg room is small and not comfortable for taller people. There is nothing provided in the flight."
Cons: "This flight was cancelled, Spirit was unable/unwilling to book me on a flight on a different airline and I had to pay $344 out of pocket for a Jet Blue flight the next day. This was on Thursday, Spirit offered to get me to my destination on SUNDAY! They also did not pay for my hotel room so I had to pay for that out of pocket as well. Will never fly Spirit again. Spend the extra money and go with someone else - you'll probably end up having to spend it anyway!"
Cons: "Nickel and dime you to death could have takenen Alaska for the same price I payed"
Pros: "Cost online appeared to be very good"
Cons: "Not clearly presented were "purchase" options, like having a carry-on which cost $55 if purchased at the gate, $45 if purchased right online, Big problem: I was not emailed an online prompt to check-in, so I had to check in "manually" at the airport terminal. I was told the carry-on baggage fee right at the gate would be $100! But the agent gave me a discount and I was "only" charged $45. I was not able to reach anyone by phone or by online chat re checking in or paying extra charges for a personal carry-on. I felt a bit set up to pay extra because Spirit was not informing me of the need to check in online and/or the need to pay extra for a checked bag."
Pros: "40$ CARRY ON FEE No complentary WATER HORRRIBLE SERVICE FEES EVERYWHERE I MADE A CORPORATE REQUEST 12 days ago and they still haven't gotten back to me and had to end up buying a whole new flight. Thier corporate website Has a one star rating and is riddled with complaints and customers trying To band together to sue spirit. BOYCOTT SPIRIT AIRLINES"
Pros: "They upgraded me. The upgraded seat was very spacious. The staff was nice. Very punctual. Easy/fast to board and deplane because people don't have tons of bags. Overall, super easy and no frills, which I liked."
Cons: "No TSA pre-check at Seattle? People need this... Luckily, the nice guy at the check-in counter helped to get me through, but otherwise I would have missed my flight. No option to purchase wifi?"
Cons: "Spirit Airlines is laughably inconvenient, and derisively unconventional. Stewards are made to be salespeople, and the simplest amenities (such as a seat-back tray or glass of water) are pointedly unavailable. I spent a hellish 10 hours flying Spirit Airlines; having done so, I would never recommend a friend (nor, even, an enemy) go through the same discomfort, ridicule, and expense. The captain was flippant regarding the discomfort of the flight. Stewardesses spoke loudly to one another in the back of the plane, non-stop, for two hours. Seats are ridiculously close to one another, do not recline, and offer trays without proper space to be useful. Spirit makes a point of reminding its customers, every step of the way, how limited their flight experience will be. When I purchased flight tickets through Kayak, I did not realize that Spirit would strip me, the paying customer, of every possible amenity, all for the farce of a"bargain" flight. Nowhere was I informed of needing to pay 55$ per carry-on bag at the airport, nor of the further embarrassment of having to pay $15 to simply occupy a seat on the plane. Have I not purchased a ticket? Have I not given my money? Why should I be denied the right to sit on the actual plane? At least three other customers in line in front of me were dissatisfied with their check-in experience. None were comforted by Spirit staff, whose job, clearly, is merely to demand money and offer further ways in which an already paying customer can be divested of the contents of their wallet. I pity all who ride Spirit, work for Spirit, or consider becoming business partners with this company. Clearly, being "the youngest fleet of any major U.S. airline," has its drawbacks."
Pros: "Crew were friendly, although a bit too relaxed some sitting scrolling through facebook on phones once the plane had landed. Planes were clean. Even though we had to circle for ages as windy at LAX, Captain kept us well informed."
Cons: "Website was down so there was no way to check in online. System was down at SEA-TAC so boarding cards could not be printed resulting in having to wait for ages then was given a handwritten boarding pass.other customers with printed passes were being turned away at TSA line. Baggage prices are ridiculous, you have to pay for carry on AND checked luggage. I had neither but even so my flight wasn't THAT cheap so glad I didn't have to pay the extortionate fees on top of that too. I flown budget many times in Europe but Spirit is very basic. I wish my fare had reflected this otherwise I wouldn't have moaned!"
Pros: "My college kid carried an empty suitcase on the plane in order to get some things from home. He was charged $55 for an empty carry-on. It was also $10 for a boarding pass. They don't have a way to create a pdf and show and scan it. I won't book this airline again. I could have booked Delta and would have ended up saving if I had understood the charges."
Cons: "They lost our checked-in bag. The customer service call line was all automated so we couldn't talk to someone in person to see if we could track our bag."
Pros: "Flight into LAX was experienced and the pilot landed well."
Cons: "You get excited cause the ticket is cheap, then you have to pay for everything. The motto this trip was, "do I have to pay extra for that?" If you are going with a backpack and that's it, this might be the ticket for you. But if you were like me, and needed to take more than a toothbrush for three days, you have you pay for luggage, then pay for water, and boarding passes, and CARRY ON BAGS. The list goes on and on. Spirit doesn't care about you, just your money. I will shell out the extra bucks to get at least a water and a seat that reclines. I will be warning everyone I know about how terrible Spirit was, and I personally will never fly this airline again."
Pros: "Courteous flight attendants who seemed to be happy with their job."
Cons: "Yes, the tickets are cheaper, but the one personal item really is just your purse/handbag/backpack. Carry-ons cost $55. If you check the carry-on it's only $50. We misread this policy and felt a bit 'bamboozled' by it. Also, don't be late for check-in. If you're not checked in 45 minutes before domestic flights, you're late."
Cons: "Spirit airlines is VERY misleading. Yes it was the cheapest flight as stated but then there were the hidden costs. baggage for one luggage or carry on? Ridiculous when other airlines don't charge for the first one. A little overweight? A huge hefty fine. Pay for your seat?! There were no free seats at all!!! No complimentary snack or drink??? Charge for water!!! Ridiculous! The seats were like being packed in a sardine can and no recline which I had a terrible headache when the we finally landed! By the time I had to pay for the "extras" I could have flown first class on another airline! Never again will I will flight with Spirit and will highly recommend anyone else not to also!!!"
Cons: "Tried to change carry on bag to a checked bag....found NO WAY to accomplish that. When doing the initial booking site skip the ability to do bags at the time of booking"
Cons: "Having a checked in bag is cheaper than carry-on. If you dont buy a checked in bag or carry-on at the time of booking its more expensive to pay for it later which is bizzare. I paid $85 for one checked in luggage roundrip when most airlines charge $50 for roundrip. Cannot select seats and seats dont recline."
Pros: "Flight was scheduled to arrive at the perfect time to meet another person flying in from a different location."
Cons: "You can't check in to the flight without registering (for what?). Fee policies were unclear until after ticket was purchased "Ultra low fares" are not lower than other airlines so all the hard sell tactics are not actually justified. They just make you look like scam artists. Baggage fees are mind bogglingly confusing and present you with choices for which you may or may not be eligible. Crew constantly reminds us of the crappy service as if they are proud of it (as in "please clean up the plane for us so we can keep your fares low"). Web site does not tell you what will happen if you don't choose a seat."
Pros: "Even for 3hr the seats are very uncomfortable"
Cons: "As my flight was 3 hrs later, I lost my connection and had 2 pay $185 for a hotel room."
Cons: "Spirit may as well charge real ticket prices instead of charging arms and legs once they've got you "on the line and in the door". I've NEVER experienced such terrible add-on charges"
