I checked back later and the app had me as number 7 on the standby list. I called Delta (wait time 3+ hours... my flight was in 3), and then the Delta app support where I was able to get through to someone. She told me that the ticket I purchased over a month in advance did not guarantee me a seat on the plane (???). She said that if I was bumped from the flight they would reschedule me for the next morning. She was pretty rude and made it seem like I had a 50/50 shot of getting on this plane. I rushed to the airport in hopes that I would be the first from Standby there, and the gate agent told me that I was fine and would board right after first class and be assigned a seat then. Great. Once I got my seat assignment, I board to find out there is someone else sitting in my seat...... They eventually called the desk and had her moved, but it was the weirdest boarding experience I've had.. and I've flown Spirit. These planes that Delta fly's are SO OLD. Both times I have flown Delta the "turbulence" has been so bad and cold air was blowing right on my the whole flight with no option to turn it off (it wasn't from one of the vents, but from the side). Someone close to me works for Delta and I know for a fact that some of their engines blow mid-flight.. and they tell the passengers that it's turbulence.. so that doesn't make me feel very safe. I won't fly Delta again if there is another comparable option."

Lots of turbulence on this flight, which limited beverage service. Despite the length of the flight, there was only one beverage service, and the "snack" they handed out was a single packet of Biscoff cookies. It was a newer plane with outlets for plugging in devices and a shelf for placing a cell phone to view -- all that was great. The free entertainment was also great and much appreciated, as my husband had finished his book and needed something to amuse himself during the long trip. But if the airlines could just give us passengers a bit more seat space, it would improve things immensely; the guy next to me was well over 6-feet tall, and he couldn't help but extend his knees into my space.

Cons: "The crew. It seems that the US crew has gotten used to treating customers like animals and giving treats to deplane or calling security is a norm now. They seem to forget that they are working in a service industry. On our flight which was international and long they had quarantined the entire back rows for themselves and one of the bathrooms was also for their use only. In addition they had two choices for the meal they served Chicken and Pasta and they mentioned to customers that they had run out of Chicken. One of the passengers in our group of seven could not eat pasta as she had dietary restrictions after surgery and they told her too bad and she should have ordered a special meal. When she spoke up she was threatened with security. This person is a respected physician in her community and understands the service industry well. The worse part is the crew then proceeded to eat chicken dinners right behind her seat and continued to talk rudely about her. They had not run out of chicken meals just kept them for themselves. It seems American Airlines spends lots of advertising dollars about choosing to fly with them but is forgetting to train their staff about being nice to passengers."

We paid for "premium" seats, no charging options. The overhead storage could barely hold the smallest of carry-on luggage. The food was mediocre at best. We were pretty close to the front but every time the beverage cart made it to us the wine was already empty from the previous passengers. Overall pretty miserable flight"

So we did, but their earliest we could get us into Chicago was 9:30pm (original arrival was 2pm). We booked the arrangements only to find out that our original flight took off at 10:55 and American didn't even attempt to contact us. The cherry on top was that our flight (which was indirect through SFO) got delayed and we're now going to miss our connection in SFO. So currently looking at 10:30pm arrival in Chicago."

Cons: "I am so angry booking with them. I booked the flight and then thought, ok I will add a rental car. It said clearly that the rental Car could be canceled up until 24 hours before the flight. Well, 2 weeks before the flight, my friend said, don’t get a rental car, I will have my car. So I cancelled and only then did I find out that once I booked it through their site I could not get a refund for the car and I could only get a voucher for use on one of their flights! And only after they take out any fees and costs that was accrued! So angry!"

Pros: "Crew likes to have fun with their passengers -- making the whole experience that much more enjoyable. It's a budget airline so you have to pay for things like refreshments and snacks (also, carryons and if you want you boarding pass printed at the airport) -- but don't let that sway you! All it takes is a little prior organization (we packed a couple of sandwiches and printed our passes at home, plus packed very light). Overall a great experience."
Pros: "Flight crew were very polite and we received free soda. Free booze however would have been more appropriate after spending my entire New Year’s Day in an airport."
Cons: "Reviewed 9 hours because a crew member didn’t show. Was originally told 6 hours delay only 20 minutes before the flight was due to leave. Received two $8 meal vouchers and rude and slow service from the entire ground crew."
Cons: "parking my car 2 weeks in Asheville Long term was $96. I should have gone to Charlotte, parked at my friend's house and paid AA the same rate for a nicer seat and cabin leg room. a la carte pricing ran my bill up even with NO checked luggage. Asheville doesn't have a shuttle service for the long-term parking."

Pros: "It got us there and back for a descent price. The flight was fine but the seats are not comfortable and do not recline. I wouldn't suggest Allegiant for anything more than 2 hours and that was even pushing it."
Cons: "We arrived 3.5 hours early and the line was very long. They must have had a system glitch but didn't communicate to anyone in the line as to what was going on. When it did come time to board, they told everyone in the line that was going to Cincinnati that we couldn't check in until 2 hours before the departure time. Apparently there were some other flights that left before us. If they had told us to keep our place in line and to let other people through, that wouldn't have been a problem. But, they didn't. Their own website says you should check baggage at least 2 hours before your flight and no more than 4 hours before. They took it upon themselves to change the rules on people who arrive early. Then, once they no longer had anyone else to check in, they changed their rules again and start checking in people for Cincinnati about 2.5 hours ahead of time. A little communication and brain power from the staff would have gone a long way. After all that mess, the flight was delayed leaving about 15 minutes without any updates from Allegiant either."

Cons: "Moving from one gate to another. The three hour delay. It appeared that no one person really knew what they were doing. The disabled in wheel chairs we left on there own. One elderly woman literally fell out of her wheel chair to the floor. I was discusseded by the events of the airline."
Cons: "After the horrendous delays getting to my destination I just bit the bullet and bought new tickets (duplicates) on a different airline to get back home-- rather than risk a repeat experience. Ended up costing an extra $300 but at least I didn't have to spend an entire day in an airport trying to keep my 7 year old from losing his mind."
Pros: "Last week I flew to Florida on this airline. I quickly wrote a stellar review because the flight crew was sincere, nice and kind. Apparently, that is against policy and on this flight there was no hint of that nice attitude. No frills, no courtesy, just transportation."

WHEN I BOARDED THE PLANE I COUNTED 7 OVERHEAD STORAGE BINS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE TO MY AISLE WHERE I WAS SEATED WERE NOT FILLED AND THERE WERE SEVERAL SUCH BINS ON MY SIDE OF THE AISLE (I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO COUNT THEM BEFORE I SAT DOWN). I ASKED AN ATTENDANT WHY THIS WAS SO GIVEN WE WERE TOLD THE BINS WERE FILLED JUST AS WE BOARDING FROM THE DEPARTURE AREA. SHE WAS POLITE AND SAID SHE WASN'T SURE ABOUT WHO MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE TERMINAL BUT THAT IN ANY EVENT MY CARRY ON WOULD ARRIVE SAFE AND SOUND IN VANCOUVER - IT DID BUT WITH MY BOOK FOOD SNACK WHICH i HAD INTENDED TO USE WHILE ON MY WAY TO CHI. AND VAN."

Then....a fuel spill, then unload people who were on the plane, then talk of cancelling, then ok to start boarding again. Late leaving, late arriving. But...free snack mix and direct tv to apologize. Big deal! Poor management for a monopoly company."

Cons: "My father is 89 and our whole family went to see him off. My husband, 3 children and myself. When I went to the ticket gate to check him in, the ladies did not issue a family pass to us. They said only 1 member of our family can go with him to wheel him to the gate. So my husband went since my father had 2 carry on luggage plus he wheeled my father. So the ladies were not very understanding. At that age I do hope he makes it back in 6 months for us all to see him again! We've been issued passes before and their only excuse was it was busy which it was not at all, no lines anywhere."

I had to pay for all the extra costs of the hotel, taxis and food. It was very frustrating that they didn't hold the plane just a few minutes since there were a lot of passengers ( including myself) who ran to the gate."
