Extremely poor at handling baggage. I had oversized golf bag and JAL would not recheck in Boston. Had to haul by myself to Jet Blue. Both JAL and Jet Blue claimed I had overweight bag. Had to adjust baggage several times. Will avoid JAL in future and I always avoid Jet Blue when I can. QATAR always superior.
I fly to Asia twice a year for the last 15 years. I always try to fly JAL. It’s always a pleasant experience. Since TripCase shut down, this is the first time I used Kayak for live trip notifications. I was very pleased with Kayak’s quality and helpfulness of notifications. I will be using them going forward.
First experience with JAL so was okay to pretty good. 10 hour flight in premium select seat. . Seats in that category should be better than pretty good. Seat pan a little short for tall people but plenty of leg room; I think JAL in process of new planes? Also, — they could have offered a bit more water throughout flight and meals not the greatest. That said, certainly 200 percent better than a very recent AK Air International flight in similar cabin class in comfort and meals.
We ordered for non vegetarian Hindu meal but instead they served us vegetarian Hindu meal. That was also not good. It was very annoying and aggravating. Hope our return from Tokyo to jfk on March 27 same is not repeated. Caterar should understand difference between non vegetarian Hindu meal and vegetarian Hindu meal.
Food was great, Entertainment was bad, movies were not current and just did not have good variety. Granted I was tired so cranky might have played into my evaluation. Overall based on cost I definitely would fly them again. I am a million mile flyer on another airline, the service on JAL really beats all airlines.
The team members are extremely attentive to make sure you have the best experience.
Was in premium economy. It is slightly better than economy, but the way the seat reclines actually makes it harder to sit (the seat slides forward and the foot rest comes up - you can lie fairly well reclined but you’ll have to sit cross legged because there is no place for your legs to stretch out. Food is basic economy. Service was great. All in all good, but may make more sense to pay more for business or save a bit and just sit in economy.
Seats in "Premium Economy" were noticeably more comfortable than those in "Economy" and worth the price. My only reservation is that the foot rest did not go higher up. If it did, it would have made the seat much more comfortable.
A great flight experience - great seats, lots of ROOM for legs & in the aisle. Great attendants! My flight cost me the same as ZipAir, the website was WAY less confusing & wonky - this will be my 1st choice for my next Japan trip. Very pleased / well cared for.
Underpricer was terrible. They wanted to charge me $150 for a seat asignment. Kayak is responsible for letting this happen. Please let me know if this is going to happen in the future. If it is i will not use kayak in the future.
Passengers were not informed timely of delays. The staff appeared like they didn't really care about the passengers.
Food and entertainment aren’t a thing on these regional flights. But it was a smooth flight. Could see gorgeous countryside through the large windows. The earplugs are a nice touch for the prop engines but the hum of the engines did not bother me. Grateful the option exists to easily get from A to B.
Both flights were delayed going to our destination and leaving, and communication about the delays was not great by the airlines, now the crews were phenomenal and great to be around!!
Delayed. It's not our first flight with them either, it's actually our 3rd and all 3 were delayed by hours each time. It was a myriad of delays. On one flight we boarded after being delayed for a little over an hr, only to be told we were going to sit in the plane for another hour before departing. Once landed, we waited another 40ish min to get to our gate. On another flight, flight was delayed just under 3 hrs but atleast we got to wait it out at the airport terminal. Its just a bad experience overall flying with Alaska Airlines.
We had to take the train to our next gate but had time to eat a meal. When to our next gate and asked employee about gate and got informed that gate had been changed so back on train to next gate. So thankful she was there and informed us of gate change. Because of the issue the boarding was slow but employees were there and busy helping all and keeping it organized.
The crew the employees were friendly and excellent. There was a problem with the plane and they had workers there immediately working on it. They made sure the people that had immediate connects knew what gates they had to get to and had them leave the plane first. Very thoughtful.
Very pleasant and the flight felt like it went by quick
All flight entertainment is from your own device and there was an $8 charge to connect. also 1 drink and a small bag of pretzels was all that was given to us. other that that the seats were good and the flight itself was as expected.
It is very bad they do not give you money back
They lost our bag and it took them days to find it. Terrible communication and lots of lies about where it was. Their system hasn’t merged with Hawaiian yet they route people on shared flights with Hawaiian, creating an administrative nightmare.
Same as ive said before. All airlines and TSA need a massive revamp.
Alaska airline sis usually great. However flying nowadays is so stressful and feels more like an interrogation rather than a fun part of the vacation experience. From the TSA to the cramped seating it feels like i am entering a concentration camp having my picture taken via TSA and being forced to have my body scanned. Then we are forced to sit in beyond cramped conditions where our knees are crushed into the back of the seat in front of us with almost no movement possible constantly being reminded to put our seats forward when we want to alleviate the horrendous pain of our knees being shoved into hard plastic. My knees looked like i had kneeled on gravel for 2 days straight after flying for a total of 14 hours for my roundtrip. I keep hearing from our elders about the jopys of flying in the 70s and 80s but now it feels like the joy has been removed as a means of acquiring more financial gain by the airlines. Not to mention that my flight via hawaiin airlines was delayed so long that i had to miss my connecting flight which then forced me to miss another day of work and the only recourse i had was a wonderful conversation with a lady via Alaskan Airlines when she got me a new flight the next day due to the delay. She was very pleasant and helpful. She got me onto a nother flight the following day but when i have to travel 2 hours from springfield Illinois to st louis it was a huge hassle having the delay in the first place. Not even the tiniest bit of compensation was offered either. Not a voucher, not a free meal, not a slightly better seat, just a reschedule when in no way was the delay or the missing of the connecting flight my fault. I want to reiterate that Alaska Airlines is really one of the best airlines overall. I fully understand they dont control the TSA, but it does effect the overall experience when TSA is making it feel like we are going through a re-education camp with rather strange videos playing on the walls the entire way through Security. With that said, Alaska should take cosnideration from years of past and make the flying experience fun again. I understand profit is important, but if just ONE airline made flying like it used to be 40 years ago and stopped making it such a money-driven experience, then i, along with many others would choose to fly more often. We see the smaller soda cans and we laugh, we see the tiny snacks and scoff, we see the ridiculous wifi costs and choose to not pay for it because we download our own prior to flying. Why not get everyone to use the wifi by making it like 2 bucks rather than 8 bucks? Make a much larger first class area with slightly lower costs so it doesn't feel like we are mere peons boarding a cattle car? Create some more leg room and watch how fast people are clamoring for your airline over others. Not one airline is actually catering to the general public, if they did, they would see so many people seeking out their airlines above all others and it is just that simple.
Both flights were late 2+ hours with ZERO communication from the airlines or their staff. No offers for compensation. WiFi didn’t work for streaming and they said to only use browsing but that didn’t work either. Waste of $$. No drinks only boxed water or apple juice. No snack. One of the worst flight experiences I’ve ever had.
The ticket and bag check in was chaotic at SEATAC. No clear communication or signage for bag drop off.
This was actually an Alaska flight. I was not able to check in online using the Kayak app or the web for Hawaiian or Alaska airlines. So I contacted Hawaiian and they advised that I had to go to the counter when I arrive at the airport. So I waited in line at the Hawaiian counter for 45 minutes. When I got to the ticket agent she advised that I needed to go to the Alaskan Airlines ticket counter. So I went to that counter which thankfully was not busy. I received my boarding pass and then went to security. I arrived at the gate as boarding was beginning. The frustration is that Hawaiian or Kayak should have directed me to the correct ticket counter. When it is “operated by” a average person doesn't know what that means. Kayak app was silent on what action to take when I was unable to check in online and Hawaiian just stated my ticket number and confirmation numbers were invalid. Communication is key and this process could be cleaned up. Thank goodness I am savvy and speak English, I can’t imagine this process for someone who may not be.
If I knew I would be on Alaska Airlines flying back, I never would have bought the ticket. My flight kept getting delayed and Alaska always seems to be late which is why I don’t fly on them.
Good. They changed our gate very late and then when we landed, we had to wait 20 minutes to get off the airplane because another plane was in a slot.
Very nice experience. The boarding however seemed somewhat mixed up, and we were delayed taking off.
Flight was canceled with no voucher of any kind and next available flight was two days later.
Boarding was chaotic. Microphone not working properly and second agent was distracted from task with baggage and late arrivals.
Gate agent did not hold flight for connection, provided no assistance to get new flight
Evidently, my seat had the only broken TV. I couldn’t plug it in, get it to come on, or watch anything, and of course, no one could fix it while we were on the plane. The service was good and the boarding was quick
United airlines, mediocre at best. No issues , nothing great . Worked for me
Boarding experience was smooth. Flight attendants were friendly and helpful. Entertainment system on the Houston-Edmonton flight did not function for passengers on the left side of the aisle. On the bird's eye flight from Quito to Houston, they should not serve a meal. No one needs to eat after midnight and it is disturbing for those passengers trying to sleep.
it was so bad. I tried to board my flight from vancouver to saskatoon. And to my surprise they did not board me cause the flight was changed and no email was send to me. and on my boarding pass which i got from seattle says different flight. I did not knew anyone from Vancouver, air canada crew was rude, i asked for today flight but they were rude and i had early morning dental appointment in saskatoon. I was so much in pain and my whole day is wasted today. and i suffered alot. They did provide me hotel but they did not provide me any food. I am really really disappointed first time had so bad experience with air canada. I may think twice to book it again. If i can get any reply or any composition that would be great. Thanks
It was fine, definitely older planes with no charging or anything. There’s no entertainment set up on board, but it is nice that they allow you to access the in flight entertainment from your phone without having to pay for the Wi-Fi and they do offer free texting.
Terrible. Out flight was delayed for 21 (twenty one) hours. United is a joke.
Boarding was mayhem. Late boarding by 15 minutes because of lack of staff (missing 1 flight attendant. We had to wait for an arrival of another plane before we could board). Flight was a little rough, but cannot blame on airlines.
Impressed with the service despite turbulence because of the weather. Both flights arrived before their scheduled times.
Very comfortable (upgraded to business class). The audio on my screen didn’t work, but I managed to play the audio through my phone while watching the screen.
