Pros: We flew from Anchorage to Boston via Seattle. If there had not been a delay in Anchorage, the flight would have been excellent. However, there was a mechanical problem earlier in the day with a plane to Cincinnati. Our flight was scheduled to leave Anchorage at 4pm, but Delta decided to take our pane from us and use it as a substitute for the original but nonfunctional Cincinatti plane. A ridiculous decision. The Cincinnati people already had missed all their connections, but now all the Seattle people missed theirs as well. When we finally got to Seattle 3 hours late (just before midnight), the desk agent said that Delta had no hotel rooms for us and also no hotel vouchers. We thus had to find a room and pay for it on our own. The next day, we had been rescheduled to Detroit and then on another flight from there to Boston. The flight to Detroit arrived nearly 30 minutes late, and we just barely made our connection. Had we missed it, we would have had to spend that night in Detroit. Delta did its best to keep the two of us together. On the Seattle-Detroit flight we were on opposite sides of the aisle in the same row, but that was in a row right behind a bulkhead, making it easy for us to walk over to each other. On the Detroit-Boston flight we were next to each other. Both flights were completely full, so Delta must have made some effort to keep us together as well as possible.
Cons: Delta should not have made the dumb decision to take the Seattle-bound plane and use it as a substitute for the malfunctioning Cincinnati plane. Delta should have provided accommodations for the stranded travelers once they arrived in Seattle.

Ran from gate F to gate c24 arrived at 10:23 p.m. Slight to the park at 10:25 p.m. and they closed the door on me as I was running up there. Ran across the entire terminal to get there and they would not let me on. Last Flight of the night to Bismarck. Missed my uncle's 90th birthday party. Would not give me food voucher. Delta gate agent told me she would lose her job if she did not close the doors 8 minutes prior. However the Minneapolis flight waited for 15 minutes for people to board that plane. How does that compute? Why would they not wait 3 minutes for me rather than pay the money to put me up in a hotel?

To start off, i was flying with two other people and we were not able to get seats together, and the whole seating process with delta is really difficult even when I had called weeks in advance to see if they could try and seat us together. I understand with main cabin tickets you can only choose your seat as you check in, but it would be nice to be able to request seating with a person/group you are flying with. I was placed in the very back row of a busy flight, and noticed that the horrible smell from the bathrooms which made it unpleasant. As said above, I normally have a pleasant experience.. but being a delta sky member I feel as though i do not really receive any differences as to a non-member. It says you can do it cheaper on Lufthansa.com but I could not find where you can actually do that. All in all spend 30 minutes with no result. Had to pay at check in $44 instead of $27. And it was just one of many other problems and inconveniences with their website.

On my flight to Frankfurt, the plane was half empty, yet my seat was changed from row 8 where I would have had almost no one near me back to row 23 where they had cramped all the passesngers into one area of the plane. This was done without request or explanation.

Cons: Our flight was canceled from Amsterdam to Bordeaux and did not receive any direction and had to find alternate flights for ourselves with the personal expense of using our own cell phones. Then our luggage lost for 3 days. Not happy! We ended up flying from Toronto to Paris then to Bordeaux. Lost my upgrade money for seats. Now have to deal with KLM for refund!

Pros: The crew were really helpful since I am a short person in putting my luggage away in the overhead compartment and attentive to everyone's needs. I am a fussy eater and don't really like airplane food but the food was actually really nice. We was given plenty of snacks and drinks in between meals as well. There was plenty of programmes to choose from to keep me entertained.

And to add injury to insult her bag was left behind in JFK during our transfer for our flight to Seattle. No big deal right, Delta will deliver the bag to our house the next day, wrong, we were told we have to go to the airport ourselves to get the bag.

This policy applied even to people with Economy Premium for the rest of the trip (which allows 2 carry-on suitcases, not a useful feature if one cannot begin with this number to reach the transoceanic flight).
Cons: The airlines didn’t even notify the passengers with the connecting flight. As the arrival was little late, all the passengers have missed their connection flights in Toronto and there was no notification or communication made on the new flight. When I went to the Air France counter in the airport, the staff has gone for the day and trying to get a hold of telephone rep took 2-3 hours and I by the time I found about my new connection, I was already late. Somehow I managed to get to the Terminal 1 and when I spoke to the lady (indian) at the Check-In counter, she has refused me to Check-In because i slipped the line up. The people in the lineup didn’t have any objection and they let me go first for Check-In as I’m already late to my flight. I wante to say something to her, but I’ve controlled my frustration. Luckily the other person in the Check-In counter offered to help me Check-In. Here is my word to the Indian lady staff “F**k You B***h” - learn some people skills.

Pros: It was all a smooth operation. In particular I appreciated that since my flight from Chicago was delayed and I missed the original connection, as soon as I disembarked in Reykiavick I found an SMS saying that I had been moved to the next available flight, and they even gave me a food voucher.
Cons: They don't give you food on the flight unless you pay which in principle is not a bad thing, and makes for a quieter flight, because it's not the case that everybody is eating, and eating at same time. On the other hand on a long transatlantic flight even a small snack would be appreciated.

IF one goes on line 36 hours before you can get if for $55. We were unaware that the bag wasn't included (our bad, of course), but when we pointed out that on Iceland Air check in there was NO place that asked for bags?? They said it was our fault for not "reading the fine print". We can only check in 24 hours in advance, so WHO would think to "manage trip"...36 hours in advance?? Especially in rural Iceland which is where we were 36 hours ahead of time. We would have gladly paid the discounted rate for the bag, but no on was willing to help us with that, so we got soaked for $77 and were told to take our concerns to Iceland air customer service.

The flight took off (and unlike most flights I've ever been on) the crew took until close to 9;00 to serve us anything. Needless to say we were hungry, tired, and frustrated to pay for overpriced small portions of junk food. Not even complimentary pretzels?! I was more comfortable on my hour long flight to Boise from Seattle where we got free snacks and the flight crew booked it to get us drinks before turbulence set in and they had to sit down. Also, though the exit row gives extra leg room, not being able to put your seat back on an 8 hour flight is tough. In the past I've had amazing experiences with Iceland Air. I'm sad to say this time wasn't one of them.

Cons: The boarding process was something I've never encountered, and I've been flying for many years.. It was a cold rainy afternoon and all passengers were told to get on a bus out on the tarmac. We walked out through gale force winds to get to the bus. There were approximately 100 people on the buses. There were no seats bus and we all stood jammed together for at least half and hour, not knowing why or how long we would be there. An elderly man standing behind me said he thought he was going to have heart attack. The windows were all steamed up but someone finally opened one to let in some air. Even when we finally all got settled in the plane for the flight, there was no explanation, compensation or apology for the crazy bus caper. I will never fly Icelandic Air again.
Cons: The chicken curry was abysmal and very expensive for what was provided. The crew did not come through to collect garbage after the meal so we had to have our tables down for most of the flight which really limits leg room. Lineups were ridiculously slow and there was inadequate sitting room prior to flights.

For reference, a 10 year old ate 3 of the in-flight meals (so about 40€ worth. That's how small these things were). Overall decent flight but I saw no difference in service or amenities on this transatlantic flight compared to any domestic flight.

Cons: The boarding process was very poor. There were at least 4 US-bound international flights crammed into a tiny corner of the airport, all trying to board simultaneously (Denver, Chicago, Boston, Seattle). There were hundreds (maybe a thousand) of people standing shoulder to shoulder trying to get to their gate. There were few, if any, overhead announcements to inform passengers of the boarding status. There was no organization to the boarding process. We didn't board by group, zone or row, so it was a free-for-all on the plane. This led to very long boarding times. I think the boarding situation was actually dangerous. If there had been a fire or an emergency in that boarding area, there's no way those several-hundred passengers would be able to exit the area safely.

Cons: 1. Overly cramped seating in coach. In the 757, average-sized passengers (5'-8", 165#) are contacting shoulders with adjoining passengers. Arms are restrained tight to your torso for a 7 hour flight. Cannot reach beneath the seat in front of you due to close-pitch seating. And forget assuming the "crash position" anymore...the seat in front of you prevents that position unless you are 4'8" tall. God forbid the person in front of you reclines their seat...you can't even use your tray table or hold a book to read. 2. Food selection limited, but OK for the short flight.
