It was actually a Delta Flight and the plane was old and two of the lavatories in the back section of the plane broke down mid-way through the flight. I had preselected a seat but when I received my boarding pass I was assigned a middle seat with a crying baby behind me.
Check in was terrible. The kiosks were not working and there was NO staff available to instruction or to ask questions. The check-in and bag drop off lines elevate terrible. I believe a big problem is they only allow one bag including carry-on and there were no signs indicating this!
There was a lot of confusion for people trying to use the kiosks to check in. Finally a representative stood by the machine and told people not to bother, just queue up for the desk to get boarding passes and drop of luggage , which took for ever. Once on the plane the seats are very cramped.
The plane and flight attendants were just great. The food was great as well.
My grandmother had a terrible experience getting from check-in desk to the plane. We were made to feel she was an inconvenience due to her disability. She wasn't provided a wheel chair service in a timely manner, attitude when asking why service was so delayed, and it was not acceptable that she had to walk from the bus to the plane, having to walk up the platform to the plane door. I really think Virgin Australia should educate their employees on how to accommodate those who are less able bodied.
I was really worried about being on a plane for 14+ hours, but it was great! It was very comfortable with plenty of room. They also had the best airline food I've ever tasted! I will fly virgin Australia again!

We were allowed to check one bag for free...that's awesome. And we were provided with two full meals on the flight, more food than we could eat. And even a complimentary alcoholic drink! Great selection of movies. New Zealand Air is one of the best flying experiences I've had
Awful service, they put me waiting for more than an hour to say that I was in the overbook list so they would need to include me in a flight 3 hours later in another airline. Outrageous!
Missed the flight because of a very late connection. Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia kept handing me off to each other since it was booked as virgin Australia but on an air New Zealand flight. Neither wanted to help at first. Finally virgin Australia ticket agent took pity and helped me rebook for the next day. This was after I was told by air New Zealand that I had to call the booking number for virgin Australia. I’m traveling from the US and didn’t have a cell phone that worked in Australia... which I explained and asked how I could call the number without a phone. Was promptly told to go over to Virgin Australia ticket counter where I made the one remaining agent who was closing the desks help me. However the airport lost my luggage and could not find where it was. I ended up spending three hours in the airport and still no luggage with the baggage company saying they have no record of it anywhere. Very frustrating trip.
