Toilets were kind of stinky and I could smell them from my seat on row 26. Blankets are way too thin for the blasting AC."

On my short flight from Basel to Amsterdam, a young French speaking girl was concerned about how to manage getting to her next gate. The flight attendants talked to her and arranged for someone to take her there. On my longer flight from Amsterdam to New York City, there was a customer who was in distress about missing a previous flight and not making it to her connecting flight in New York. One of the flight attendants reassured her until she stopped crying and calmed down. That same flight attendant was always so positive and cheerful in all she did. The rest of the crew was top notch. This was my best experience flying in such a long time. Well done, KLM crews of flights 1984 and 0645 on July 10!"

Relaxing atmosphere, comfortable seating, great in-flight entertainment, although I have the go-go in-flight data/entertainment plan with t-mobile (highly recommended), the flight included a decent selection of movies, television programs, etc. The food far exceeded typical "airline quality," even for an international flight - and included a fabulous little snack box with locally sourced gourmet and specialty items such as chocolate from Belgium, fine cheeses from France, and crackers from England. Drinks = gratis, and crew was exceptionally attentive and went out of their way to make flight as pleasant as possible."

The level of professionalism is much higher on JAL in regards to the flight attendants than AA. The boarding process still needs a lot of work to be more organized (take a look at JAL as an example - they treat customers like kings and queens). Also, there was no way to get a seat assignment through the JAL website. That website looks and acts like it’s from the late 90s."

And the flight attendants had the typical U.S. flight attendant perma-rage, of course. I feel sorry for them, underpaid and overworked, but always p***ed off. Anerican Airlines needs to look at Emirates and other non-U.S. carriers to learn how to treat their passengers."

Even though I have TSA pre-check I was jostled around, sent to multiple security lines without any reasoning and the local Chicago TSA and airport staff didn't seem to know what to do. Once it was figured out I was subjected to what was essentially a cavity search. Again I HAVE TSA-pre-check but apparently that means nothing if an airline flags you. It was an extremely upsetting experience but you were in a situation of either agree to the invasive search or get stranded over 1000 miles from home. I will NEVER fly Iberia again after a cancelled flight and being stranded in the wrong country on the way to my vacation and the horrible security experience on the way back. I seriously may never go to Chicago either after seeing the complete lack of organization and traumatizing personal invasion. I fly a lot for work and have never had such a horrible experience. I would really like to know how many terrorists are caught with these invasive searches and would love to know the justification for sticking your hands inside someone's pants and grabbing their privates after they have already gone through a metal detector AND the body scanner. Especially for someone who has already passed a federal background check to obtain pre-check status. Absolutely ridiculous."

Even the Flight crew was in disbelief on this one. I think we should all get reimbursed and triple miles for this snafu. Not weather or mechanical - just poorly managed time -- BY A MAJOR AIRLINE - INEXCUSABLE!"

Cons: "Originally, I was scheduled to take a JAL flight from NRT to DFW, but for some reason, American Airlines switched the service to their own aircraft and crew. If I would have known that beforehand, I would not have purchased my ticket through AA.com. During my original online booking, the screen said JAL service from NRT to DFW. Just about everything was bad about my American Airlines flight. I travel to and from America several times a year from Asia. Each time I travel, I swear I will never fly an American based airline for the trans-Pacific portion of my flight. My latest experience with American Airlines only reinforces that resolution. The in-cabin crew is (and I'm being nice) pathetic! They are veteran flight attendants and they look and act like they could care less about the customers on the flight. Frankly, I'm just downright disgusted with the service and personalities of the American crew's attitude. They act like they are old and tired, uninterested in quality service, and that we (the passengers) are an imposition upon their life. For example, mid-flight, I walk to the back of the airplane for something to drink, instead of assisting me they point to a "station" at the Emergency Exit door stocked with random drinks and snacks. While they are chit-chatting, looking at their smartphones and reading newspapers, books, and Kindle-type devices. That has never happened on an Asian-based airline flight. Another example, in-flight food service, the cabin crew members are waking people up to serve food and, instead of being gentle and cordial, they are rude and impatient. My 2 row mates were both Asian, and because of being awakened and the ambient noise in the aircraft, they could not hear what the flight attendant was asking. So, with a tone of impatience and disrespect, the flight attendant virtually shouted at them their choices for the meal. Whatever happened to the "customer is always right" or the "customer is king"? My renewed resolution: I will no longer fly American-based (because Delta is even worse) airlines to and from Asia. If needed, I will pay the higher fees and fares to fly anyone of a number of Asian-based carriers. It is worth it for the 24 hours it takes me to cross the Pacific. I am sick and tired of the begrudged and entitled attitude of the archaic cabin crews of American-based airlines."

And the movies they played were old. I mean the Devil Wears Prada...COME ON!!!!! Also, the food on the way to London was extremely disappointing. I had chose the pasta with vegetables, and it was macaroni and cheese with broccoli. And not good macaroni, but more like the kind you make for your kids."

Cons: "The airplane was outdated. It did not have personal entertainment suites at each seat. I haven't flown across the ocean without being able to choose my own movie in 3 years. Also, because of the outdated entertainment suite, the headphone jack is located in the armrest to the side instead of in the seat back in front of you. This caused me to bend my 3.5mm headphone connection at one point while I was moving my leg, because the connection jack is located below thigh level. The temperature was unbearable, and could not be controlled by the flight crew. Dressed for winter weather and roasted for the entire flight. I actually was dehydrated when we landed because I was sweating for 7 hours crossing the ocean."

Every time someone flushed, I was bathed in the smell of urine. It was raining in Toronto; consequently, my checked bag was wet through. I’m glad I was coming home rather than arriving at a vacation destination, where all my stuff would’ve been wet. I’d like to see some effort put into keeping my bag dry. Also, the passengers had to slog through the rain to get on the plane!"

This is the worse international flight as far as room or food. Requested for an exit row seat but was told it was an additional $125 charge. Really that's how Air Canada is getting business by giving customers a very poor experience. A group of four us traveled on this trip and we had the same consensus and won't be recommending Air Canada."

Cons: "Beware that baggage check closes 1 HOUR BEFORE TAKEOFF! They failed to mention this when I purchased tickets. Also we were unable to check in online (something wrong on the website), so we didn't know our boarding info. We also had a flight that was 30mins late. When we got to the check in counter the woman wouldn't do anything for us- wouldn't hold the flight, didn't attempt to help us catch our flight. We were told we could wait 48 hours for the next available seats. We signed up for that, and also waited on standby for 24 hours at Narita. Fortunately they were able to get us on a flight within 24 hours. We were not very happy that the key information that check in closes an hour before flights was not readily available or obvious. No emails or notices that I saw when scheduling flights. Just be aware. Everything else about the flight was fine."

Cons: "Why does a vegan meal include butter and cheesecake? There was clearly a mistake but it seemed like the airline attendants were unfamiliar with what a vegan diet is. It really diminishes your confidence when they pass you another meal, you have no idea what ingredients are in it and simply have the trust the people that just passed you butter."
Pros: "The whole experience from boarding to landing was great. Zone 2 boarding is one of the first called and the premium economy section has larger seats that recline more and don't affect the person behind as much. Food was decent and serve on a ceramic plate with real silver wear. On demand entertainment was adequate with a number of recent titles and even audiobook options."
Cons: "The section was set up in a 2-3-2 seat configuration and I booked the middle 3, but were given 2 in the middle and one one the left aisle. One of the middle seats was left open for the pilot to come back and watch movies during the flight. When I asked the attendant if we could swap the left aisle with the "pilot's" the attendant made it seem like it was a bigger deal but eventually asked the pilot who said he didn't mind. After all, it was just changing one empty seat to the other side of the aisle."

Pros: "I love the new Boeing 787 planes! This was the smoothest flight ever, both from Vancouver to Tokyo and back again. The new planes have the dimmable windows, which are so cool! And, each seat has it's own screen with free movies, TV, flight info, etc. Also, the flights were on time!"

Cons: "The trip took about 48 hours. After a cancelled flight I got no hotel discount. Several flights were delayed or cancelled and in the end I ended up just going to a city 3 hours from where I live and renting a car to drive home. My luggage still hasn't arrived. This was the worst, most stressful travel experience of my life."

Pros: "As we approached Raleigh ~3:15am, over 4.5 hours late, the pilot apologized for the delay, which was thoughtful of him. And we arrived in one piece, so that was good too."
Cons: "While waiting for the flight, I whined on FB about our probable delay, and a friend responded with "I'm guessing that you're crammed at the end of that terminal hallway with about 10 other gates of people with no airplanes, no information, and 2 AC employees." Spot on. Apparently such delays, understaffed gates, and failures to communicate with passengers are par for the course. Friend even predicted the free bagels AC would eventually offer at the restaurant that closed 3 hours before our flight finally left. He didn't predict the multiple announcements about assorted other flights not having functional restrooms so please pee before boarding."

Pros: "I flew roundtrip to Japan on Air Canada business class. Buying a ticket late, I noticed it was only $500 or so more for business class. We did have to touchdown in Canada coming and going, but short and efficient hops. On the way back, it probably saved time because we were cleared in Canada so arriving back in Philly was like a domestic flight. Great Food and service. The trip to Japan on their new Dreamliner business class featured an amazingly designed pod - super comfortable, lay flat for sleeping, But has good layout and table space if I had wanted to work on laptop. Thumbs up!"

Im not sure when a rule was instituted that headphones can't be worn under 10000 feet, but my three children were targeted many times about their headsets... on the ear, boring kid headsets... and there were THREE adults around us wearing similar headsets that were not bothered. I am a single mother of three tired children and we were settling in for a long flight and I found the treatment very unnecessary and discriminatory. The food was pretty awful, lol. We ordered kids meals and none of my kids ate on the flight."

Our boarding passes printed in Okinawa had to be REPRINTED in Tokyo for some reason, and we narrowly avoided a huge line to wait into because staff mistakenly made us wait in the WRONG lane. Note: on the way to Okinawa 2 weeks earlier, we had similar poor experience, but we only had to wait 5 min in the wrong lane. Overall ANA staff is very nice, friendly and smiling, but seems to get overwhelmed and confused very easily, and take FOREVER to do simple tasks that their US counterparts do 3x or 4x FASTER. --> do more regular TRAINING of your staff at airport counters !"

Pros: "When we departed from Vancouver to Tokyo, we were pleasantly surprised by how courteous the airport staff and flight crew was, and by how roomy the seats were. Food wasn't outstanding, but better than other airlines we've been on for similar flights."
Cons: "Two of our three bags did not make it onto the plane, and the staff at Tokyo Narita, while apologetic, were not helpful. We had to press hard to get our bags back the next evening, instead of 2 days later. The onus was placed on us to keep receipts for replacement items that needed to be purchased in the interim, as well as to make the claim for reparation money on our return. Not even a complementary toiletry kit was offered, despite the fact that I reiterated that I had literally no clothes or toiletries at all in the one bag that arrived. Crew on our return flight was borderline rude, did not seem to take any care at all wheeling heavy carts down the aisles while people slept on a transpacific flight, banged them into my daughter many times."

All that extra time was spent waiting at Narita and Toronto. -Although I was seated next to a bathroom, I was at a window seat and thus had no good access to it for the whole 12 hour flight -- most of the time the way out was blocked by tray tables. Overall space was somewhat limited."

It was the first time every traveling overseas that they've made an error with my meal plan after flying on multiple airlines. My connection was a nightmare as I had to wait to go through security and customs which took over an hour and then my second flight was delayed. I will never fly through Canada again from the U.S. To another destination country."

The heat fluctuated between too warm and too cold; had to put on and take off a fleece every 10-15 minutes. Chicken option for dinner rated spicy, so had to opt for pasta. No Asian options on flight from Japan; sad. So-so movie selection, controlling screen not very easy, screen often too dark. The list of movies in the United Magazine was incomplete and inaccurate. The size limits on carry-on bags and personal items was smaller than other airlines, unnecessarily so for the latter given the size of the space under the seat in front. United is inconveniencing customers without any justification."

Also, since it was next to bathroom, the smell wasn't great and the small child screaming while waiting to get into the bathroom wasn't pleasant."

I stand in the gate line for Premier access and the gate crew lady asked me to go and pay for a carry on bag in a very loud voice and asked me to get out of premier access line. When I asked her to take a look at my premier access status, she said stop yelling. Then another man in a suit walks in and first word out of his mouth is not an apology, but a threatening "Don't yell". I just kept walking away from this unqualified person lest it goes out of control. United needs to do a lot better. Just because these gate crew people feel stressed out, they should not take on innocent travelers. Instead of putting a customer under a defensive position, they need to learn to respect the customer. United is training their crew in a wrong way.."

Pros: "Being Asian, I consider myself lucky that my United flight wasn't overbooked or else I might have been forcibly removed from my seat and dragged out of the aircraft like a sack of potatoes with a bloody nose, and then United CEO adding insult to injury by apologizing to all the passengers in the flight EXCEPT me. Outrageous. I have flown almost 2 million miles on United but this ugly inexcusable incident gives me serious doubts about this airline's true character."
Pros: "Customer service at the airport after our flight was canceled was the only thing hat made my experience better. Thankfully she was able to find me a flight with American to get home to my family."
Cons: "I was headed to see my family because my grandmother passed away that morning. You changed our gate 10 minutes prior to boarding, so ALL of the passengers left the gate, boarded the airport tram, went to the other side of the airport to arrive at our gate to find out 30 seconds after walking up that YOU CANCELED OUR FLIGHT?!!!?!! And then automatically scheduled us all for a flight at 10pm that night. Not ok."

As a matter of fact only 1 tiny bitty snack for the entire flight. Very uncomfortable plane! Asking to pay for entertainment Direct TV, are you kidding me??? Those tickets are not cheap and you can't provide entertainment? Charging for everything extra is outrageous. Crew was a bit rude. And the people at the counter at the gate -very rude and unhelpful. Flight delayed on Christmas night and no refund for all that time wasted without being with the family. I had seats together with my husband and then seats were removed, asked to see an agent when printed boarding pass and then got separate seats. You are a joke and do not respect the money we pay and prearranged seat assignments. United you are a terrible airline, please strive for better customer service. You charge a lot."

Cons: "After having several flights with international airlines while in Thailand for the last 2 weeks, it was quite a disappointment to spent 12 hours on this UA flight. There was a 6-8 hour period during our flight were flight attendants did not ask or even consider walking the isles and asking the passengers if they needed any water or anything else. During several flights in Thailand, the attendants were constantly catering to every passengers' needs. The difference between the flight attendants from Bangkok to Tokyo compared to Tokyo to DC was worlds apart. The Japanese attendants were as friendly as ever and took care of all the passengers needs. The flight attendants were flat out rude. There was once event on this flight that I could not believe. A child of 5-7 years old had to go to the restroom with his mother. The flight attendant was collecting trash from our meal. Even though she knew the child was behind her and needed to go to the restroom, she would not stop collecting trash, move her cart so that the boy and his mother could get to the restroom. Instead, she continued collecting trash and made the boy wait until she was done. I feel embarrassed for the foreigners who were on this flight and this was their first impression of America and Americans. The main meal that was served was a breaded chicken patty served with a slurry of questionable gravy, rice, and a roll. I received better food on multiple 1 hour flights while in Thailand. The comfort level was what you would expect from most American airlines-tight and cramped. I will never book with United for another international flight."

Cons: "The quality of the food served (in economy) on this flght was far below what is normaly expect from United (which isn't much!). If this is United's new meal service for trans-Pacific flights then Delta may be a better option for future "cattle class" flights... The flight was fully booked in all classes. The flight attendants were lazy, at best, and I seriously question their training and competence. I travel this route on a regular basis, every three months, and I've never experienced such poor quality of service from United."
Pros: "No delays, was actually 35 minutes early on my return flight, attendants were especially kind to me and helped me out significantly, and I was pleased with the free in-flight entertainment via the free Wifi. Overall, a Good experience with United."

Cons: "ANA is the epitome of full service, and has among the highest costs in the industry. So why did I have pillows on my mid-day HKG-NRT flight, but no pillows on the redeye (0145 departure) HND-HKG? I was shocked. I used my shoes as a pillow. Really shocked! I don't expect pillows on an LCC or other cost-conscious carrier, but HND-HKG in the middle of the night? Really??"
Pros: "The single best thing was that the cabin lights were dimmed on the way to Raleigh so I could sleep since it was so late. The crew was polite and patient. Getting re-booked for a new flight after my original flight had been cancelled wasn't too bad. Text message updates are helpful (but could use more info)."
Cons: "I arrived into Newark to find out that my flight had been cancelled. I'm still not sure why it was cancelled. Then, I was placed on a new flight that was intended to leave at 8:30pm, but didn't leave until 1:00am. I spent 10 hours in the Newark airport where, even though charging stations were in abundance, wifi was non-functioning. I received 7 text messages, each one with new departure times. I appreciated the texts, but would have liked to have more information about why we were delayed. Communication from gate agents can go such a long way. I spent a ton of money on bad airport food and couldn't work due to the lack of wifi. I never understand why nothing is offered to passengers in return for such delays--whatever happened to food vouchers, etc.?"
