Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Good flight"
Pros: "The entertainment on the flight"
Cons: "Flight was delayed"
Pros: "The pilot was fine and kept us informed. However, the rest of the crew was awful. Not friendly, did not smile. What poor example of American Airline employees. No food was available in the main cabin. This was a 6:30 p.m. flight and there should have been menu items available, not just pretzels"
Cons: "Crew and options for food. If I wanted pretzels, I would fly with Southwest. They have better service anyway."
Pros: "Crew and seats super comfy"
Cons: "TV in the seat"
Pros: "The crew was nice"
Cons: "Pilots showing up on time. The flight was delayed 3 hours not due to weather or mechanical issues. Then they boarded us on the plane, let us know it was delayed 1.5 hours, then back onto the plane at that time, then waited another 1.5 hours to leave. Unacceptable. I missed my work meeting from this."
Cons: "Better entertainment"
Pros: "Nothing really"
Cons: "The seats"
Pros: "Great crew - good attitudes."
Cons: "Delayed for an hour due to a log book issue."
Pros: "Crew was very nice"
Cons: "No drunk option other than orange juice or water, and orange juice gives me heartburn so more options necessary"
Pros: "Not much. The pilot did try to keep us updated on our 5 hour delay The airline had conflicting rules on getting off the plane while waiting at the gate the pilot said yes, the attendants said no"
Cons: "At least offer water while trapped on a plane"
Cons: "I upgraded my seats, but we still didn’t get any extras for the price."
Pros: "The exit row seat was clutch!! I couldn’t imagine sitting anywhere else!!"
Cons: "The boarding process was chaotic. Not very much room at the gate and very disorganized."
Pros: "Straight to the point, easy, and convenient"
Cons: "Nothing yet"
Pros: "Convenient without problems"
Pros: "Flight attendants incredible!!!!"
Cons: "Same airplane"
Pros: "We arrived thirty minutes ahead of schedule even after sitting on tarmac for a while. Seemed like a relatively short flight!"
Cons: "I wish they had outlets near seats but that's more of a general suggestion."
Pros: "Basic flight. Super uncomfortable seats. Older plane. Cramped. Pilot was great. Flight smooth."
Cons: "Got there safe!"
Pros: "At Least the Staff was keeping us updated."
Cons: "No good-faith gesture was offered for the long delay. My associate and I completely missed an important dinner meeting with the rest of our team! Our team takes this trip each year and we have always drove. It' short and I then have transportation when I arrive. This year we decided to fly because it's even easier. This particular flight from Phoenix to Vegas took us longer then if we were to drive and I then spent more in RideShare. I won't be doing it again next year."
Pros: "We made great time!! Crew was friendly."
Cons: "Airplanes are small and that middle seat is a killer for your neck but crew and making good time made up for it!!"
Pros: "The crew was very nice and attentive."
Cons: "It was SO hot in the airport terminal and on the plane, but only on our half of the plane. We were all very uncomfortable."
Pros: "It was fine. Just not anything great."
Cons: "Many groups were not seated together. at the airport I asked if my husband and I could be put together . One worker seemed interested in helping, but another rudely butted in and said there "were no seats together, the flight was full." Come to find out the flight was not full, there were whole rows not full. The groups near our seats rearranged ourselves so we could be by our family members, so it worked out. No thanks to the person at the terminal. Really long walk from the gate to the plane. No food on a cross country flight. Only a few cups of water/soda and a cookie. which unfortunately is typical now days. The lights were off the whole trip. The captain kept turning on the seat belt sign for the turbulence. Which there was a lot of. But then he would announce for everyone to go back to their seats. It wasn't huge bumps, just a little rough. and it woke everyone up by announcing it multiple times."
Pros: "Plane's seats were new though the plane itself was older (probably a retrofit)."
Cons: "Boarding with AA, as usual a compete disorganized mess. No entertainment on seats, luckily had my iPad."
Pros: "Smooth ride and friendly staff"
Cons: "We were a little delayed"
Pros: "Friendly crew and efficient boarding"
Cons: "Older plane without individual entertainment choice. No food other than a single bag of pretzels offered."
Pros: "All American Airlines employees were very polite and very efficienct. My travel plans went off without a hitch."
Pros: "friendly staff and good entertainment options"
Cons: "Uncomfortable seats"
Pros: "Flight was on time (actually early) and smooth. The crew was very friendly."
Cons: "Right after boarding Zone 5, the crew called for Zone 6, and everyone rushed the line. Zone 5 had not yet completed boarding."
Cons: "While Delta are stepping up their snack & refreshment options, American seems to be joining the downhill slide group. If you don't like dry pretzels... choose another airline. Also had that wonderful experience of learning after boarding that you need to have downloaded the app to be able to reach any entertainment options. And, nowhere to plug the device to keep it alive. I didn't realise that AA was competing with the budget airlines like Rouge now..."
Pros: "The crew for the most part was nice."
Cons: "It just wasn't a comfortable flight and then a extremely bumpy ride all the way from LA to NYC."
Cons: "Boarding complete chaos. Looked like Bangladesh. Very unorganized. No airline has ever explained why they do not board from the window seat out. Would reduce much confusion. Too much to handle."
Cons: "The crew i ask for a coffee with half and half and he tell me that is not a starbucks horrible fligth departure delayed"
Cons: "No entertainment. No food. The flight was 2:25 minutes but American Airlines managed to make it take three and a half hours. The tone of staff was closer to prison guards than airline hostesses."
Pros: "Good Crew"
Cons: "Flights are chronically late - over 1 hour coming and going."
Cons: "Paid for upgraded seats to get more legroom in main cabin. But legroom in Row 6 was still cramped."
Cons: "Crew member had poor attitude. Not all just one seem to be having a bad day"
Pros: "Good preferred seat."
Pros: "On time."
Cons: "The door team was all over the place creating a chaos at the time for boarding the plain. I've notice several people in front of me were complaining due to the boarding dynamics. (Not smooth boarding)"
Pros: "Crew were very good seat as comfortable as can be on a flight."
Cons: "The flight was delayed and information was not clear boarding was messy people had far to much hand luggage I had one piece but was not allowed to take it on board as the overheads were full already? my main case was sent early and I was a long time in baggage claim waiting for it till I found it in a contained area it had been opened for security reasons? No information was given about the early sending of luggage? Don't think I will go through Philadelphia again."
