  • If you’re planning a flight from the US to Indonesia, the archipelago has over 6,000 inhabited islands for you to enjoy between the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Regardless of which ones you choose, your adventure will begin on the island of Java and its major airport: Soekarna Hatto International Airport (CGK), or Jakarta Airport.
  • West of Java is the island of Sumatra where you can visit the cities of Palembang, Padang and Medan. Jakarta Airport is closest to Sumatra and therefore is a good point of departure to these cities. However, if you’re going to Banda Aceh on the northern tip, you should consider flying into Banda Aceh Airport (BTJ).
  • The islands east of Java include the Lesser Sunda Islands of Bali, Sumbawa and Timor that stretch out towards northern Australia. If you wish to plan an excursion to explore them, it’s better to make Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) or Denpasar Airport in Bali your point of origin and island hop from there.
  • The island of Borneo shares part of its surface with Malaysia, but the greater portion of it (Kalimantan) can be discovered after your flight from the US to Indonesia. Whether you arrive at Jakarta Airport or Denpasar Airport, you can ferry across the Java Sea or take a short flight to Tjilik Riwut Airport (PKY) in Palangkaraya.

  • If you are coming to Indonesia from the U.S., consider arriving through Banten, the town where Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK), the country’s main airport that serves the greater Jakarta sits. The airport is a base of multiple flights operating to major parts of the country, thus making it easy and convenient to visit other areas.
  • Those who are keen to arrive in Indonesia through a city that exudes luxury and elegance should consider landing at Juanda Airport (SUB) in Surabaya. This airport puts you close to the country’s most famous shops, restaurants, and entertainment spots, making it easy to go on a shopping spree and still explore the vibrant nightlife.
  • July and August are the peak holiday months in Indonesia. During this time, the sunny weather coincides with the European summer holidays, making it ideal to explore the beaches and still retreat to the bars in the evening. Therefore, fares, accommodation facilities, and paid-entry attractions increase dramatically.
  • Most flights to Indonesia from the U.S. involve a layover either in Abu Dhabi (AUH), Istanbul (IST), or Doha (DIA). The three major airlines plying this route make stopovers in their respective capitals, with Qatar Airways connecting through Doha, Turkish Airlines stopping in Istanbul, and Etihad Airways making a layover in Abu Dhabi. Endeavor to book these flights with layovers as they come with cheaper tickets.
  • Indonesia has many cities, meaning that you will require connecting flights to tour some of them. To this end, it is useful to choose airlines that run through their hubs to provide easy linkage to your preferred destination. The crew was very nice and polite. They made sure everybody got their meal and drinks. Even the economy class had a very adequate leg room for someone that is over 6 foot tall.

The crew was very nice and polite. They made sure everybody got their meal and drinks. Even the economy class had a very adequate leg room for someone that is over 6 foot tall.

Purchased WiFi was slow to non functional. Staff was not personable or friendly. Seats were cramped. Boarding took long but I expected that.

Luckily I just tried to sleep. But the entertainment system was awkward to operate. I hate all this stuff with apps and adding it to your phone and all. It is a nuisance. I would prefer a good magazine or newspaper in the pocket in front of me or available.

One of the best 14 hour flights I've ever had. Crew was friendly throughout which can be difficult on longer flights. The crew being kind and respectful is very important for me. Plane felt clean and I was able to get some well needed uninterrupted sleep. I put them slightly above Cathay Pacific as far as cleanliness the only down side was a lack of entertainment selections, but hey I am an American taking a trip on a Japanese airline so I cannot complain. Thank you ANA and the Tokyo airport all very friendly. Will see you soon

Poor. We weren’t able to check in online (for several hours until we gave up) for no apparent reasons although our passports were loaded successfully. When we were at the airport check-in, a rep helped us at the kiosk but she disregarded the KTN provided to her so we had to come back for it after being questioned by the TSA person…

ANA gave me an amazing experience. They are very good with customer service.

Flight delayed by one day and everything was so disorganized by the airline.

Everything was good may improve some alcohol drinks and amenities during fly

The crew was amazing, really friendly and efficient. One of the best flights I have ever been on. They made the long flight comfortable and I noticed there were two birthdays on the flight. They gave to customers birthday cards and wished them a happy birthday. That was very nice to see.

Everything was great. Wifi was down, but that didn't matter to me.

Crew and service excellent. 2 hour delay for takeoff. SQ app showed flight on time.

Headwind delayed our flight which wasn’t the airlines fault

Food from Surabaya was below average but from Singapore is much better

Both the staff at check-in counter and on board were pleasant and helpful. My chicken and mashed potato was good, sauce was tasty, but the zucchini, carrot n other accompanying vegetables were over-cooked a little. (I understand the meal has to be prepared earlier). Yet I would fly on Singapore Airlines again and recommend it to family and friends.

Horrendous. We upgraded and they took the money but cancelled one of our tickets. The recline action didn’t work on the seats for the flight from Singapore to London, pre booked meals but they seemed to have disappeared as well.. Phone customer service was horrendous. Took 5 phone calls and no fix. Craig at the airport was the only one who seemed to be able to get the ticket back.

Very good flight from Boarding to landing -efficient and comfortable with decent entertainment options

Construction at PDX resulting in very lung walk from the rental car to the gate. SFO, extremely long walk between terminals to get to connecting Singapore airlines flight. My smart watch recorded a total of 3 miles.

Crew and service was excellent, but passengers should be offered a welcome drink before take off which did not happen. Food was very good. Unfortunately the lie-flat bed in business class was one of the most uncomfortable I have experienced. The configuration forces you to sleep with your legs at an angle instead of in a straight line, plus there is very little padding on the bed so it wasn't possible to sleep for more than 2-3 hours on an 18 hour flight. For what the airlines charges for a business class ticket their hard product leaves a lot to be desired.

Everything was great keep up the good work 😁, can't ask for more.

Flight from SFO did not include entertainment as it was not working the entire duration of the flight. Was informed that there would be a $350 voucher for the inconvenience. Uncertain how the voucher will be provided.

Short staffs, I ask stewardess to bring me cognac twice during dinner but they didn't bring it!

I've stomach problems after 2 hours of flight, Iris, the flight purser not only did her best to make me feel comfortable, she went above and beyond providing pain relievers medicines and ointment. She look and found a doctor passenger on the flight to provide advise. She even report on ground staffs about my condition and provide wheelchair upon arrival. Kudos to her and Cathay Pacific!

I have a Peanut Allergy and the Steward staff were very accommodating in ensuring my safety as my allergy is life threatening. Very professional and so vested in their profession.

Crew was great. But a bit understaffed. The business class seat, etc were dated. But comfortable. Some legs had entertainment system from a decade ago. Selections were rather poor. Food was mediocre at best. Actually poor for business class standards. I liked the lounge in Hong Kong. Showers were great. Food was nice.

Everything was fine and I have no complaints or things to note.

The flight was delayed for 30 mins. The overall experience was good.

Highly impressive. On time. Smooth and fast boarding and disembarkment. Really great service

Overall, it was ok. However, the food was very sub-par.

The economy seats are much indeed roomier. Meals needs improvement.

When comes to Taiwan airlines China airlines is the best rest are pure trash

I was travelling 3.5 years after. Agree Economy is no business class but the food was mediocre. Ordered a Hindu meal, the salads were bitter . The food was really below quality and had no tast from what I had in the past. Indian Railways probably have a better quality food when compared. However the kids meal was really nice and really appreciate how they were taken care of. The restrooms were dirty .

My flight was with American Airlines 120. The flight was delayed 3 hours and I missed my connection. When I arrived in Doha, the AA staff told me to call an 800 number to rebook a different flight, which was unacceptable. Eventually a Qatar Air staff member helped rebook me on a flight to Manila, that was 12 hours later. They offered me a hotel and meal voucher which I declined, because I didn’t want to leave the airport. Long story short, I spent 12 hours in the Doha airport waiting for my next flight.

Overall the experience was neat with crew being nice and caring especially to parent with kids. The free snacks option was okay. The kiosk at Philly airport didn’t work.

Reason for travelling Tampa to Orlando is to fly Qatar Airline. we end up with American Airline. This was the miserable experience I ever had in my entire travel history. Flight attendants were rude. They hit my knee with the food cart and I was holding ice pack for 2 hours. I still have the pain after a week. WE boarded the flight twice because of the temperature inside the plan.

First keep the airline as you promise. Reason for travelling from Orlando to Tampa is to go with Qatar Airline. We end up with American Airline. As expected the service was horrible.

Not sure how we end up with American Airlines instead of Qatar Airways. From Philadelphia to Qatar they boarded us then they asked us to unload. After 30 minutes later they board us again. The inside the plane it was burning hot and we were sweating like crazy. Crew members are absolute rude. The way they served the passengers were horrible. One of the crew members hit my knee with food cart and kept going. I was holding an ice pack for almost 2 hours. I am still with the pain.

I felt that when I was rerouted it should have been to business class.

The flight was smooth Thank God but the delays and changing gates for 3-4 times made me so tired of walking back and forth with heavy bags I thought I was going to pass out with heavy headaches but Thank God finally found the final gate and home safe. These delays happen anytime for important reasons so just be patient when you come across these situations.

This trip was the most comfortable one I have ever experienced, the team was excellent and very helpful. I am so glad I picked Qatar Airways.

All the crew members were too slow and rude. Most of the times the registers were empty, while hundreds of customers were waiting in line, and it was impossible to get a supervisor. Despite being in line on time, I missed my freight, plus a some customers who were ahead and behind me.

The crew were very hospitable and pleasant. The food was pretty good. Unfortunately, there was a flight delay of more than 2 hours. We're not sure why but it appeared to be outside the control of Turkish Airlines.

Bough tickets with luggage, but made me pay at Airport as well

The economy seat was so uncomfortable, had not enough leg room for 13 hours flight, front seat basket was broken and couldn’t hold anything, food quality was horrible( we got food poisoned ) we charged for logged which used to be free. We paid too much for this flight and very disappointed. Turkish air line better to make satisfy and respect people instead of find different way to scam people.

This is really the rating of two flights. JFK to IST then IST to NQZ. New York to Istanbul was good. Good crew and all positives. The flight to Astana was so bad that brought it all down. Crew was nonexistent above the minimum, seats were cramped, and it was hot on the plane. Turkish Airlines seems to be slipping down to US based carriers level.

The 2 agents on the check in counter were super nice , helpful and very polite. Boarding was like a 1 2 3, I would recommend Turkish airlines for your next trip.

Everything was very good, except that the plane was an hour and a half late

flight with heavy turbulence old boeing 777 rest wasnt clean dashboard doesn’t work

Light and recline did not work on my seat. Very uncomfortable and could not read in the dark

Bad experience; they are not good anymore. They charge too much for luggage seat are so uncomfortable, Flight delays which may miss your next flight, they don’t care if you miss the flight or not. Zero customer services for front desk representatives Istanbul's airport I’m not using this airline any more.

I’ve been traveling for 20 years. I tried Turkish airline for the first time horrible horrible service and it would be my last time even if I get offer for a free ticket, I will not accept it. They have races and the worst Flight attendant
