When we tried to explain the previous flights she responded with “I just explained this to the other passengers...it’s not allowed.” We didn’t argue, and gave the bag to the personnel in attendance, but the tone for the duration of the flight continued."

Was #1 and #2 on waiting list for last 4 flights of the day, but was not given a seat. Others who were either employees or also waiting somehow got a seat though. How is this? Had to sleep in airport and pray to make the AM flight. I'm so disappointed that we are not picked in waiting order. No, all the others did not have priority seating or something. Passengers talk while waiting, so I know I'm not assuming this. We also heard the employees conversations about "hoping to get a seat too". None of us were told our new flight assignments were "stand by" either. If I was aware of this, I would have made another flight arrangement or could have driven to my destination! I paid for a ticket, yet employees on stand by flight get priority. Not right!"

The nice young woman at Frontier check-in counter in SLC took mercy on me and only charged me $45 for my bag instead of $60. Their customer service was chat-based and VERY slow (not to mention they had no way to actually help me). I contacted them twice; once to cancel the flight (they charged a $20 fee to do so, which I thought was illegal within 24 hours) and once to deal with the bag fee issue. I would NEVER use kiwi.com again."

My last return flight from SLC to ATL was over 2 hrs delayed and by the time we arrived, the airport was closed. We had to be hussled out a back door (just tough if anyone had to use the bathroom), down a flight of stairs and across some distance to wait to be loaded ont to busses with wet seats , then driven to baggage claim. This time, the train closed down at T gates and we were detoured down to south terminal baggage claim...but needed to be in north baggage claim. Furthermore, the baggage crew must have taken a break in the middle of unloading bags. I waited nearly ONE HOUR for my bag, and there were still a good 30 or more passengers waiting for theirs when I got mine."

Evidently buying a ticket doesn't get you a set. That is extra. Carry-on baggage costs and it costs more than checking a bag. Do it at the airport and it costs even more! This has become truly asinine. The plan was a newer A320, however the seats were so close together that my knees hit the back of the seat in front and I'm only 5" 10". Taller people were sitting sideways! Seats did not recline!"

It's hidden costs. 99% of people are going to need more than a backpack when they fly across the country. And it doesn't go towards service either. Check-in kiosks didn't open until an hour before the early morning flights, despite the instructions we receive. Deboarding is chaotic. Flight attendants zoom by before I can throw away my trash or ask a question, and they don't help customers with overhead storage."

Cons: "The airline is overcharging! Before I left, I googled "spirit airlines baggage". I made sure that my personal bag and carry-on are within the required size. The website does not say that carry-on will be charged. At the counter, I was charged $55 for the carry-on. It is a light carry-on (I basically just had a sleeping bag). On the return flight, I protested for being charged for the carry-on because the website did not clearly say carry-on would be charged. The ladies at the desk then asked me to pay $100+ for my carry-on. $100+ is the price one would have to pay upon boarding without having paid for luggage. I ended up paying $65.00 for the carry-on because I did not pay for it at the check-in counter. I was flying to O'Hare earlier that day so there was no need for me to go outside to get the boarding pass and pay for the carry-on. Still I was asked to pay $65. With my air fare being just about $125, it is unbelievable that I had to pay $120 for a carry-on. I had heard of an NPR interview about the frugality of this airline and I am in favor of it. But it is deceiving to charge low airfiar only to get it back with charging excessively on the carry-on. If the carry-on has to be charged, they should clearly highlight it on the website so customers are alerted. In addition, it is also an unfair practice to other airlines. Had I known that I’d pay $200+ for the airfare to go on Spirit, I would have chosen a different airline. I plan to write to the Spirit and other agencies."

This information was never updated, although departure was actually delayed almost two hours. No Spirit personnel were ever present at the departure gate or elsewhere in the departures area to provide an explanation or answer questions, nor was any information whatsoever posted at the gate at any time. Once passengers were on board and the plane was about to depart, the pilot did give a short explanation, adequate but tardy. I know Spirit is a low cost airline, but keeping passengers informed about the status of a very much delayed flight Is a basic service that would not cost much."

Pros: "My checkin and boarding went smoothly and they got me to my destination without any issues. This was largely due to my online checkin nearly 24 hours in advance, preprinting my boarding pass and being at the gate ready to board 45 minutes prior to scheduled boarding with my small personal bag in tow. Seat was reasonably comfortable for my 2 hour flight."
Cons: "Late boarding in spite of being there early. Outrageous prices for any comforts that should be considered standard. If you check a bag, $35 if you purchase it online prior to your flight. Standard carry-on bag is $40 if you prepurchase or $100 at the gate. Many airlines allow at least one carry-on as part of your ticket purchase or charge $20-$25 for the first bag. Would you like to pick a seat? seats with more legroom are anywhere from $12 - $200 and just selecting a standard seat can cost up to $50. Snacks are purchase only at $3.50 for a small snack or a non-alcoholic drink. It's definitely a no frills airline."
