The flight attendants seemed like they really couldn’t give a damn about helping out customers and it’s the only airline I’ve ever interacted with where no one speaks English. One guy actually rolled his eyes when I asked him for the meal I missed when I was sleeping."

Ground crew were unfamiliar with Brazilian laws on entry for citizens with expired passports. Our bags never left DC and we received them over 72 hours later in Sao Paulo, after much confusion. We were not offered any means of compensation for this inconvenience."

When we arrived in Bogota, at 9:40 we had time to catch the connecting flight to Montevideo which was scheduled to leave at 10:20pm.... but instead we stayed in the tarmac without moving for over 45 minutes. There were over 30 passengers that were to take that connecting flight, so the airline had plenty of reasons to wait for us. Instead the airline, AVIANCA, chose to leave all of us stranded in Bogota for 24 hours. We will have all type of problems because of this we had hotel reservations as well as car rental reservations that may be lost because we didn't showed up. By the way according to one of the passengers whose husband travelled on the same flight the day before. The same thing happened to him 1 day earlier."

I was connecting to a domestic flight to Goiania, Brazil, so I needed to drop off my checked bag somewhere to be sent to the plane's cargo. I went to the check-in desk for Avianca, and then they pointed me to the nearby bag drop-off area, which had a 45-minute line. The time wasn't too important for me in that I made it to boarding 25 minutes before the flight--the part that would have been better would be to have on the itinerary that I go to the Avianca check-in/bag drop-off area in Terminal 2 after Customs."

Cons: "The original flight was booked to dec 11th 2016 at 10:20am. On dex 9th at about 10pm i got a text message and email telling that my flight was rescheduled and asking me to call Avianca. So i did, and my new flight was booked to leave 2:18pm, arriving in Salvador at night. I asked for options, they offered me a flight at 6am and another at 8:30 am. I said that i would talk to my party and return the call, and we choose the 8:30 flight. When i called back, they said this flight had only 3 seats (we were a party of 6 adt, 1 chd and 2 inf). In the avianca site they were offering the flight for the whole party, but, of course, with a higher rate that i paid in june. The person said she coulndt book it for me, and i should call the SAC (client service) to try to solve the problem. I called the SAC and after 40min in the phone they were able to put everybody on the desired flight. I felt that they were trying to rebook us on a cheaper flight, letting the seats with highest fares to be sold to someone else. Since it was their fault the flight changing, i think it was a bad experience in my first flight with Avianca. Probably will avoid them in the future."

The flight attendants need to work on their attitudes and responsibilities. The flight was predominantly Brazilian passengers but the Avianca crew showed displeasure when asked questions in Portuguese by many different customers such as a beverage (one attendant told an older gentleman near me that a tray of drinks was available at the back of the plane and to go an get some if he like. Rude!!) It was just a very disagreeable experience flying on Avianca"

Cons: "There was a large couple that boarded the plane at the last moment, the flight attendant escorted them to their seats which was right next to me. I got up so they could sit down and they covered half of my seat. The flight attendant saw this but still told me to sit back down. I tried to explain to him that the lady was sitting on top of my seatbelt and halfway on my seat. I was told again to sit down. Trying not to cause a problem I just tried to sit down. My entire right side was in Constant contact with her entire left side of her body. Once we got started taxing the flight attendant walk by I stopped him and explain to him there's no way I could do the entire flight sitting like this. Luckily there was an extra seat that he was able to move me too. My issue is I do not understand how this was not prevented so that it would not be an issue. There were plenty of seats available they could have told her and her husband who were both very large they had to buy two seats. Or there was business-class seats available that they could've been put in."

Then on of my checked luggage was lost enroute - which made getting off the flights even later which made me miss a meeting that I was scheduled to be at. The Copa flights had food service and the meal was good, chicken and pasta. Would it have been worth 10.00 at the airport? Yes it would have been. 1 meal each way would more than make up the difference. All in all the flight worked out to be at a better time with friendlier service and an equal or better value for my total cost. The flights were on time. Nicely done."

Cons: "they overbooked the flights and the way they communicated it to passengers was a complete disaster. I was able to board and travel but I had to sneak out of the actual line and show my visa appointment receipt to a latam staff person. It was very hard to talk to the staff most of them were just screaming "go to the line" and were not really keen to listening to what passengers had to say. I found a latam person that wasn't really dealing with this situation and managed to get him to talk to other latam staff about my visa appointment. It was pretty stressful for me to have to deal with the possibility of missing such an important event without a good reason."

Cons: "LATAM was incredibly unprofessional, alarming, and entirely non-communicative. After a 3 hour delay that caused me (and tons of others) to miss a connecting international flight, LATAM’s telephone servers had the nerve to claim I was a no show and needed to pay them for my absence. This resulted in a long discussion where I was held on hold until they could adequately determine that yes i missed the flight because they held us late. This was the only way that i was able to avoid their charge to me for being a “no show.”"

I spoke with another flight attendant requesting to speak with this supervisor again, she said that I rather voice my complaint through latam.com and the mentioned supervisor, not only lied to us, but never showed up. It appears that latam needs to reinforce their staff training or perhaps to renew their staff supervisors and train them to avoid unnecessary lies to their passengers."
