Nothing gets you ready for a flight like 2 hour delay because of a broken seat then not completing the paperwork properly
The staff was very helpful! But the delays were terrible! I couldn’t make it to my destination until almost 16 hrs later and I have work.
Flight was on time. Crew courteous and knowledgeable. Good flight
The gate crew at Asheville was very friendly and on top of letting passengers know why things were being delayed. The air crew was friendly. The delay experienced through American Airlines (American Eagle) was inconvenient and made for a long day without any sleep. The flight was smooth. However, the seats were obviously in need of new cushions. They were hard and uncomfortable. The aircraft was clean, though.
We had a very attentive and bubbly flight attendant in our cabin. She made the flight more enjoyable. There were some issues fueling up so we ended up sitting in to plane too long, but that's no fault of American. These things happen.
Everything went perfectly. Check-in, bag drop, etc. The flight and crew were excellent.
Pros: "Very friendly crew."
Cons: "Have the pilots come to fly the plane on time"
Pros: "The crew seemed to make the best of their situation"
Cons: "The airplane was old and very cramped. Needs to be replaced with a more appropriate plane."
Cons: "The plane was completely packed despite the COVID pandemic. A stranger sat next to me on the plane (distance of about 6 inches, not 6 feet). What social distancing? And yet they conveniently said no food/drink beverage for safety reasons. Good way for the airline to save a few bucks. Other airlines (like JetBlue) block out adjacent sears and give snacks in individual bags but this... I flew several times since the pandemic began and this was by far the worst. What a joke of an airline. Never flying them again"
Pros: "The employees were as good as they could be, given the atrocious handling of the situation by American Airlines and its policies."
Cons: "We were 1.5 hours late leaving for an unknown reason (not weather). Then, it appeared that we didn't try and make up the lost time in the air (we also landed 1.5 hours late.) This caused a significant proportion of the passengers to miss their connecting flights. American didn't do anything to help other than offer a "discount" of about $10 off of over $100/night hotel rooms in the Philadelphia area to sleep overnight in Philadelphia. This was absolutely lousy customer service by American, and will definitely make me avoid American Airlines in the future."
Pros: "After the initial delay, the female desk agent got us on another connecting flight without a problem. Second flights attendant was also great."
Cons: "They boarded the plane, only to tell us they had to de-ice, which is understandable. However, after waiting 20 min for the de-icing that never came, they made us get back off the plane because of mechanical issues. The captain/pilot was rude to the woman working the desk over the radio, to the point where she had to leave the desk and go speak to him in person (she knew we could hear everything.) That conversation is also how the whole line of people was informed that then knew about this mechanical issue since the night before, and chose not to fix it before boarding all of us. After getting to Philadelphia later than expected, we were forced to pay for hotel food that was horrible and overpriced. Only to then have our plane be delayed AGAIN because of mechanical issues, again the pilot not giving much information to the attendant she was faced by a room of 40 angry people and had no answers. The departure time slowly crawled out longer, and the only reason I knew was because of having the American app. Information/communication on all ends was poor. I usually fly Allegiant, which is notoriously “cheap,” and I’ve never had an experience like this. Happy my boyfriend has flown with American before and knew to give us an extra day so we didn’t miss the wedding we paid $800 in airline tickets to attend. Just disappointed."
Cons: "The agent who informed us that our bags were delayed waited until no more bags came out before she tried to locate us. She had our names and waited until we approached her before speaking with us and getting the information. It has now been 24 hours and no one has contacted us yet. My sister and I were travelling together. She lives in Virginia and needs to get back to work. The website is not helpful. The phone is problematic. Earlier today your system was down and your agent told me to call back. Now no one picks up the phone. I have been on hold for 15 minutes. This was British airways."
Pros: "One of the few non-stop flights between Seattle and Philadelphia. Timing is perfect if you can sleep on a red-eye flight. Fairly empty flight. enough empty seats to move and stretch out."
Cons: "No entertainment center built-in to the seats. On board WiFi can be used to access movies and other entertainment on the your own device but make sure your battery is charged and you have an external battery also since the seats don't have power. I tried to sleep but it is not easy for me to fall sleep when the seat back reclines only 3 inches so I didn't have luck taking a nap. Conclusion: I am not taking this flight any more. I will go back to taking will switch back to flying Delta even though there are no direct flights."
Pros: "I took two connecting flights on American Airlines between Los Angeles and Lisbon period on the website American claims to have charging and or electrical ports in every row. There were none on either flight. To make matters worse, when my tablet and phone batteries both died before the end of the first flight, there was no inflight entertainment, other than 1 ridiculous thing available, on either flight. American has switched to BYOD for entertainment, but forgot to provide a way to charge our own devices. Incredibly stupid."
Cons: "On top of that, one of the flight attendants on the Philadelphia to Lisbon run was a hella snarky guy with a bad attitude all the way through. I would be surprised if I am the first person to complain about him."
Pros: "Efforts to get us to Philadelphia"
Cons: "Got to Philly - no one there - rushed 2 concourses and plane still there with daughter on-board. They gave away our seats, told us we would not get on, would not get our baggage and would not get put up in a hotel. Because of the NBA draft - had to travel 60 miles to New Jersey for a hotel. Lost a day, lost 2 tours, endured additional hotel costs...and the attendant made it clear she was on overtime and we just needed to move on. American Airlines is too big and consolidation of airlines has not been good for the public."
Cons: "The flight was delayed and then the airport in Philadelphia "wasn't aware" that we were coming to it took forever to get off the plane. I would have missed my next flight if they didn't wait for us. Also I couldn't check in online beforehand, which was frustrating. Also I waited in line at the British Airways desk to check in and it was a long line. When I finally got to the front I was told I had to check in at the American Airlines desk and I wish I had been told that earlier. One staff member was rude when I asked him to repeat the food options."
Pros: "AA got me home safe."
Cons: "Entertainment was nonexistant. Most movies were unavailable and those that were would start and then say “no longer available” monitor did not work. I was not the only passenger with issues. Many could not get system to work. Antiquated and/or poorly maintained. Also, announcement made it seem as if you had to pay for wine/beer/spirits. I wasn’t drinking so it didnt matter but at other times this would have been a hassle. Never had this on an international flight. Flight was okay just not top drawer like it used to be. Cost cutting measures have impacted the brand. Would not say it is first tier. Dont mind a “no frills” flight if it results in lower cost to consumer (aka Southwest Airlines)"
Pros: "The plane and crew were good."
Cons: "The adult movie selection was not interesting. I ended up watching a children's Disney movie that proved to be more entertaining. What caused my discomfort during the flight was not due to British Airways or American Airlines, but rather was a problem at the Frankfurt terminal. I could not take a bottle of water thru the security check and there was no water fountain after the security check. I have a lot of food sensitivities and cannot drink bottled water. It was only at the end of the flight when I was desperate for water that I discovered I could get some tap water from a flight attendant."
Pros: "The in flight staff was very friendly"
Cons: "Our 2nd flight was changed by the airline, causing us to have a 6 hour layover in Philadelphia instead of a 2 hour layover. Then when we ask about changing to a different flight they told us that the original flight we were supposed to be on (that we booked over 8 months ago) was completely full so that’s why we were moved, and there were no other flights available to switch to. So we accepted that. But when we printed our boarding passes, we saw that our seats were now separate from each other, and they were both middle seats! I don’t understand how booking my tickets so far in advance still resulted in these issues. We were finally able to get an aisle and window seat (not near each other) but both flights had poor to little entertainment, which I wouldn’t have expected on such long flights with American Airlines. Really was letdown. :("
Cons: "The staff member at the gate counter in Philly was very short and rude. She asked for people volunteer to check their carry-on bags and when I took mine up she was very curt. She asked me for my seat number (I didn't hear her) and her tone got worse. A woman who did not speak English need assistance and was turned away by this person with s shrug. The Latina finally stood in the middle of the gate area asking for help from anyone who could speak English. I just spent 18 days I Madrid and never once was rejected when I asked for assistance. I was not happy with your employee and I was ashamed to hear an American treat someone that way. In the employee's defense, she was alone at the dest up until boarding time and was juggling a lot of balls without any other support. Not a good experience."
Cons: "We had five pieces of luggage lost during our flight from the U.S. to Spain. When we arrived in Madrid we were told that all five pieces had been located. When we went to pick them up the next day there were only four pieces at the airport. We were told the fifth suitcase would be delivered when it was located. It's ten days later and there's no sign of the luggage. It has taken multiple phone calls to get the information about the luggage correct. They assure me that they have everything correctly documented and then when I call back they haven't changed a thing. It has been a very frustrating process overall."
Pros: "Not much."
Cons: "The flight was late due to maintenance and caused us to miss our connecting flight to Chicago. American Airlines customer assistance at the airport was absolutely terrible. They were rude and inconsiderate as they kept suggesting to fly standby. We shouldn't have to fly standby when it wasn't our fault why were late. They told us our bags would be ok going to Chicago and they we would make the flight, but we did not. I do not know why didn't wait for us considering there were 8 others that also missed the connecting flight. We had to fly to Denver and stay overnight with no luggage and catch a 7:00am flight to Chicago. The last surprise I received was my damaged bag when I got back to Chicago. Thank you for making this trip memorable in a terrible way. I will never book or recommend Kayak or use American Airlines again."
Cons: "American Airlines DISCRIMINATES especially against the elderly! The airlines took my family of 6 off the flight that I booked 6 months in advance, and I had no flight out of Munich, Germany. I do not know why. I called and had them put us back on the flight. I paid extra for seats so that we could all sit together. The seats were given to others and my family could not sit together. The American Airlines employees were not helpful at all! The agent, Rowna, lied to us that we would be sitting together. They will not reimburse me for paying extra for seats that I did not get. The porter that pushed my mother in the wheelchair was more helpful than any employee."
Cons: "I booked in August with your company for a trip in December. I booked out of Pittsburgh to Philly both directions to avoid Chicago. I picked seats and also chose British Airways. What I got was my trip to Philly to Manchester with middle of the middle seats (I PAID FOR AISLE). On the way back we got a change through Chicago (which I tried to avoid by booking in August). We did get the proper seats, fortunately. I will never book with your company again. So dissatisfied ....I booked so early and to no advantage."
Pros: "Nice flight, great leg room, staff was friendly and flight was on time."
Cons: "We arrived in Amsterdam at 9am, after traveling two hours to get there. We found out right away that there was a delay and chances of missing the connecting flight from Philadelphia to Orlando were great. We requested a different booking to insure travel to Orlando, which was denied. So the connecting flight was missed and after hours arrived in Orlando at midnight. Missed my ride and all car rentals were booked. All this caused a lot of anxiety and unnecessary stress. Very disappointing. And to add to it, the flight itself was horrible and there was no entertainment available for the entire flight."
Pros: "Because this flight was NOT full, my wife and I had the entire center section to stretch out. This made our 7.5 hour flight amazingly comfortable. The Airbus A300 was a reasonably new aircraft. Everything was clean and looked good. The food was exceptionally good. My wife and I both commented on how good the food was (my wife stated, "it was the best airplane food ever"). The main meal, the hotbox snack, and the late in flight chocolate ice cream were ALL good. The staff were great, friendly, service oriented, nice people."
Cons: "Navigating through Heathrow"
Cons: "We booked a BA flight from Pittsburgh to Glasgow, through Philadelphia. We intentionally chose BA because we anticipated good service. We later learned that the flight was serviced by American. Our original flight was delayed one day because we missed our connection due to weather on the East Coast (after six hours at the airport). American re-ticketed us for a flight the next day. After several misstarts in Pittsburgh, we arrived in Philadelphia with minutes to spare. After running to the gate, we were then greeted with what turned out to be a four hour delay. Then, upon return, we learned that our seat selections/priority boardings were all deleted because of the re-ticketing on the on the flight out, and we spent hours on the phone and at the airport trying to get things sorted out and ensure that we had a return flight. One of the worst trips ever in my experience."
Pros: "We were notified of the pending delay in our flight from Athens to Philly very promptly on the morning of the 10th. We immediately called and spoke to a British Airways agent and also a supervisor who was understanding and kind enough to accommodate us by reserving seats on a later connecting flight with American Airlines from Philly to Phoenix. We did not receive a confirming email and ended up calling back. We were then told that Vouchers will be waiting for us at the Philadelphia airport with our names."
Cons: "When we checked in at Athens airport there was no information available for our connecting flight in Philadelphia. The AA counter was chaotic, the agents were rude and had changed our seats to 2 separate areas. When we arrived in Philadelphia there were no vouchers waiting for us. The only thing that the agent could find were seat assignments . We stood in line over an hour waiting for her to figure out what had happened and almost missed our connecting flight . Even though my daughter was in a wheelchair with a brace on her leg and in pain, the agent at the counter was not very empathetic at all. The agent also kept saying that this was not correct somebody made a mistake to tell us we were booked and that person will get in trouble. Eventually she spoke with the supervisor and gave us 2 boarding passes."
Pros: "Liked all the little amenities - actual meals, USB plugs for charging, free movies and games to entertain my kids, enough leg room that I can bend down and get stuff from my bag under the seat and that I could lean back a little without causing the person behind me to need knee surgery, tilt feature on screens to make video viewing easier when the person ahead of you tips their seat back. Seats were wide enough that I didn't fear jabbing my neighbor in the ribs every time I moved. Ice Cream!"
Cons: "Boarding-we boarded class 9 and had a carry on that was to big so all 3 personnel yelled at me and my husband with my daughter in my arms very loud and disrespectfully " YOU CAN NOT BRING THESE TYPE OF BAGS ON THE PLANE!" Mind you 3 people are saying this while other people were also waiting to board the plane! So I quickly say we do not need 3 people to tell us 1 thing and especially yelling at us like we were kids or criminals because it felt like we must have broke the law the way they treated us! That experience was horrible and ruined my liking for AA"
Pros: "The options for entertainment were great."
Cons: "The space and seats were uncomfortable. I received errors when trying to access gogoinflight on my tablet, even when I had the most updated app. Therefore I was unable to use the app during my flight to Philadelphia. Also, when checking in from our original departure location, MCO, we were not provided our boarding pass or luggage tags for our final destination, Barcelona, only to our connecting flight, Philadelphia. The connecting flight was delayed in MCO for an 1 hour and a half, after we have boarded the plane. So we waited in the plane for the whole hour and half while a maintenance issue was being resolved. The delay almost cost us to be late for our final flight to Barcelona. Since we were not given our boarding passes for PHL to BCL it caused confusion when trying to board our plane in PHL to Barcelona, and also caused for our baggage to not arrive with the flight. After landing, we spent an additional 2 hours at the Airport going through customs, and waiting on line for the lost and found desk for baggage in Barcelona. The lost and found desk had three agents available to assist, however we can only talk to one which was designated specifically for American Airlines. This caused a very long wait time of 1 hour. We were advised the bags stayed in Phildelaphia since they did not have the additional luggage tags, and will not arrive till the next day. Overall the experience within the Airport kiosks, service desks, and baggage check in' s was not a pleasant experience. I believe many of these issues could have been avoided if the American Airlines agents were more knowledgeable and attentive."
Pros: "Flight wasn't full so I had the row to myself and got to stretch out. Great selection of movies. Decent food."
Cons: "One FA seemed visibly annoyed with me; I'm honestly not sure what I did. I am a FA for another airline; didn't identify myself as such but always make sure to not be "that passenger." During two beverage services she did not ask me if I wanted anything but simply looked at me with disdain and sighed loudly. She wasn't rude; just not friendly and I never once saw her smile. She seemed tired and annoyed. I understand that feeling. I've been a FA for 16 years, still junior at my company, but it reminded me how important body language and facial expressions are when we work hospitality and customer service in the public eye. I hope everything is ok with her and I'm sorry if I did something that irritated her. I didn't get her name."
Pros: "Food, OK legroom, complimentary wine & beer on a US carrier"
Cons: "Barely functioning ancient touchscreen system"
Pros: "The Ticket agent was very helpful and friendly. The air crew and Flight Attendants were very nice and helpful. The wheel chair attendant who initially took me to my gate in Las Vegas was very friendly, and helpful, and she did everything she could possibly have done, short of leaving another passenger to come take care of me, which wouldn't have been right. I was there when she called her supervisor and advised him/her of my location and of my needs and she received confirmation. Was not her fault."
Cons: "I checked in with American and a wheel chair attendant assisted me to my gate. My wheel chair needed charged and I was two hours early, so the attendant sat me at the charging station because there were no outlets in the gate area. She contacted her supervisor to advise of my location and that I would need assistance. Nobody came for me. I gathered my things the best I could and struggled to get to the gate to get attitude from the gate agent, telling me the wheel chair attendant was there looking for me. What ever happen to using a paging system when you know the passenger who is disabled checked in two hours earlier? Had someone paged, maybe I could have flagged their attention, or maybe they could have called the company in charge of handling their wheel chair attendance and would have known where I could be located. Either way, the attitude is uncalled for, especially when I apologized and stated that the wheel chair attendant was expected to help me."
Cons: "Had 2 plane tickets to Puerto Rico for my mom funeral But all the sudden my dad passed away one week before the date Iso a have to change the date They did charge me $200 and the other ticket was for my friend was my support he couldn't go cause he's job So I call and they said yes that they gonna help me with the refund all I need is a dead certificate so I send it the papers by email Now they telling me that they can't gave me the refund All my brothers and sisters didn't have no problem with South west air line and other airlines they understood the problem And they did everything without problems Worst service ever Not flying with them ever again"
Pros: "Equipment was an A330. I was seated in Row 11 and had priority boarding. As a result, I had considerable leg room and not trouble finding overhead space. Seating in the back has several inches less "pitch" between seats. A330s provide a very smooth ride."
Cons: "Food: Salad was good, you could taste the arugula. Chicken, once you scrape off the barbecue sauce, was decent. The rest of the lunch did not seem worth eating. The best option if you are hungry is to either eat in the terminal or bring something you do enjoy with you. The movie selection had nothing you likely have not seen already. Be aware that sometimes PHL moves slowly. We waited over 5 minutes for the plane door to open. Bags took about 40 minutes to come up. There were no lines at immigration. Connecting in less than 2 hours can be iffy."
Pros: "Price. That's it."
Cons: "We sat in Orlando waiting to take off - delayed for OVER 30 minutes because ---> the catering truck failed to show up. The captain aired his frustration of the catering crew. Supposed to arrive in Philly approximately 2:24pm - we didn't arrive until 3:03pm. Baggage took another 20-30 minutes. All American emoloyees looked tired. Not one smile either to Orlando or from Orlando. (Oh yeah - we were late taking off to start my vacation from Philly because a crew failed to arrive to "start the engines of the aircraft," per captain's announcement. The entire aircraft boarded and sat, again, for 30 minutes without any air conditioning or air flow in the cabin.) Blah experience. Blah employees. And two different captains announced the reasons for delay with an "annoyed tone.""
Pros: "Extended legroom upgrade was worth it. I could actually open my laptop and got a lot of work done. Too bad the plane not have 120V plug to charge up or Wifi Arrived safely."
Cons: "- Took 2 hours to get through check in and security - ridiculous. Check in was disorganized and inefficient. People queued to use the kiosks. Firstly, there were too few kiosks, with several unused and at least one was offline. We then waited again for an extended period of time to drop of bags which should be less than 5 min. Please take lessons from Lufthansa - they really know what they are doing. This was one of the worst arrangements in the world. - One of the flight attendants, not all, seems quite bothered to serve us. I don't appreciate that. - No Wifi available - Flight was delayed"
Pros: "I flew first class. Philadelphia airport is horrendous. I chose to fly first class to avoid lines and make flying by my lonesome go more smoothly. There are no special lines for first class there are absolutely no perks to flying first class out of Philly. The first class flight attendant was rude. They ran out of hot food by the time they got to me so I was served yogurt ... I don't eat yogurt. I waited 40 minutes for my luggage to arrive at baggage claim. The flight to Philadelphia from Tampa was a good experience. They had first class lines. The airport was cleaner. The flight attendant Steve, was kind and professional. I was served a hot lunch. I'm a diabetic and when my blood sugar went low he got me orange juice quickly. I waited maybe 10 minutes for luggage at baggage claim. However with the horrific experience in Philadlephia I may never fly American again. Definitely will never fly out of Philadelphia again. I was told by the woman who I sat next to on the way home that she hates American and usually flys Delta for her business trips."
Cons: "AVOID FLYING OUT OF PHILADELPHIA!!!"
Pros: "Flying on American Airlines like many other airlines is a frustrating experience. The added charges for baggage and seat choice are insulting when you are used to flying on southwest. It should all be covered when buying a flight. The people lining up at the door to get on the plane spill out in to the hallways and block traffic trying to get by. Southwest airlines has a number system to get on the plane and therefor avoids the crowding the entrance to get on before all the overhead space is taken. I really think american could learn a lot from Southwest airlines. I will when possible avoid this airline if there is a flight with southwest."
Pros: "Free beverage"
Cons: "Was told I couldn't get on earlier flight because I hate checked a bag. That bag ended up on earlier flight and sat in Rochester for 5 hours. Was delayed due to "maintenance" and the inability to find flight attendant. Ended up changing gates and then forgotten for 45 minutes before manager asked someone if we were headed to Rochester. Once aboard second plane waited for another 45 minutes for fuel. Never flying American again. Was told I couldn't get on earlier flight because I hate checked a bag. Ended up changing gates and then forgotten for 45 minutes before manager asked someone if we were headed to Rochester. Once aboard second plane waited for another 45 minutes for fuel. Never flying American again."
Cons: "I feel as though I should receive some kind of courtesy credit for the poor condition of the plane, friendliness of the staff, efficiency of the staff, and finally for being 3 hours late because failure to adequately fuel the plane. I was skipped for receiving refreshments, the plane had interior panels falling off. The second flight didn't have enough fuel for a 40 minute flight. The pilot told us that we were delayed for rain for 10 minutes but we did not have enough fuel to circle around. As a result we came back to Philadelphia. I missed a graduation party as a result. I had a poor experience. The flight attendants did not greet me on entrance or exit."
Pros: "Nothing. I will never fly an American / American code share flight abroad again. I cannot believe they are flying this plane for trans-continental flight in 2016."
Cons: "1980's 757. Literally, I flew on planes like this in the 80's. American, please get with it. This was a horrendous flight. No in flight entertainment at all in 2016 on a 9+ hr. flight is unacceptable. Couple that with 1.25 hour delay AFTER the plane boarded. You should not be flying narrow body jets on flights this long. Much less ones with old, uncomfortable seats and zero entertainment options. I don't mean to sound entitled but this experience was night and day in every capacity (comfort, food, service, entertainment) from my flight to Europe on BA. Sad. Lastly, I sat next to a off duty American flight attendant who was quite rude."
Cons: "Plane was very warm upon boarding due to issues with auxiliary cooling but informed it would change as engines turned on . I sat in row 20 and it was very cold during flight. Flight attendant inquired about comfort. It improved for about 10 minutes and returned to cold state . Noticed that one attendant put on some kind of jacket due to coldness . Nearby passengers retrieved blankets from their carry on baggage. Glad I had at least a light jacket to throw over me and that my legs were partially covered. Guess it's better to be too cool than too hot. Otherwise. It was s great flight ."
Cons: "The flight from Phillie to Albany was very warm. Stewardess genuinely apologized."
Staff was great , plane interior was poor. The seat pocket in front of my seat was unusable and the seat pocket in front of my husbands seat had a bar sticking out of it and was ripped. Overall the entire cabin looked worn and dirty.
Very clean flight. The attendants were very helpful and patient!
Pros: "Crew was terrific. The seats were so comfortable. There was great aisle space to where I wasn’t getting bumped by passerby passengers."
Cons: "WiFi was down but we were on time. I’d prefer no WiFi over a delay for it to be fixed so nothing really much."
Pros: "Flight attendant was pleasant and helpful"
Cons: "Food options ok. Minor problem with gate upon arrival to Chicago. Problem resolved in 10 min"
Pros: "Flight crew. Entertainment."
Cons: "2 hours late. No room for 22 inch carry-on in the overhead."
Pros: "Crew was nice"
Cons: "I hated my seat. Last row. Seat didn’t recline. Right next to the bathroom. That should not even be a row for passengers!"
Cons: "Luggage took 30 minutes to get to pickup and it was covered in vinegar. The snacks on the ride really stink. A little bag of pretzels. Boarding and I boarding took forever"
Pros: "Flight was on time. Everything went smooth for being in coach."
Pros: "There were some great employees but unfortunately one of the team didn't share their personality"
Cons: "There was one employee or steward who just didn't seem to want to be there did his job but compared to the others was not on the same page of the team"
Pros: "Associates were nice and knowledgeable. The airplanes were comfortable. Love the onetime performance of scheduling."
Cons: "Unite Airline performance wasn't the good. Also, there was nobody in Chicago to help us with the transferring process."
Cons: "The Kayak interface messed up my flight schedule and I ended up getting a non refundable and unchangeable ticket. I lost all my money on that ticket. No more Kayak for me. Ever."
Pros: "The fact that we got there safely."
Cons: "Took them 90 minutes to fix a seat belt because they kept bringing the wrong part. They got it right the third try. The cabin crew sat in the back and chatted for an hour while we sat at gate. Not even a glass of water offered. Then we were diverted to Pittsburg because of weather and sat for an hour. Again no water offered. So on 5 plus hour flight crew went around once. The final straw was they blamed weather for the delay when in fact it was not being able to find the correct seat belt in due time."
Cons: "The woman next to me had her computer angled toward my face with the brightness all the way up. On a red eye. It was rude, and she prevented me from sleeping at all on the flight."
Pros: "There was a delay due to thunderstorms and the female pilot handled it extremely well"
Cons: "Flight was delayed Before we boarded but then once we boarded we Sat for another hour."
Pros: "Flight was timely and crew was very nice - good flight!"
Cons: "Not enough leg room"
Pros: "FREE TV on the plane....all planes should have it."
Pros: "Crew was proficient."
Cons: "Seating was compact, reminded me of the buses that run from Mexico to the US. "Let's see how many we can fit in there?" Rubbing elbows the entire time."
Cons: "Flight never happened. American Airlines saved the day. It seems to me, the issues with United are deeper than we ever thought. I was highly disappointed with their inability to rectify the situation."
Cons: "i sat in front of the exit row which was feeezing. My boyfriend and I needed extra blankets because it is a red eye and sleeping is important but they would not give them to us. We were pretty much shivering the entire way home and could not sleep."
Pros: "The crew was ok for the type of company they are."
Cons: "The plane was absolutely horrendous. Really uncomfortable. No TV, no outlet to plug in my own device. And garbage wifi."
Cons: "Flight attendant were not courteous"
Cons: "No internet so made for a boring flight"
Pros: "Staff was very kind and genuine"
Cons: "the plane was absolutely freezing cold!"
Cons: "4 hour delay, no power in basic economy only power if you upgraded to economy comfort."
Cons: "Delays in boarding, as well as arrival in PHL. Flight s m s short staffed. My bags did not arrive. Had to wait for a gate, then wait for a tail jack."
Cons: "Internet was down the whole time"
Pros: "The tailwind made it so that my 6 foot 2 inch 235 pound frame didn't have to sit in the middle seat as long."
Cons: "I paid for the insurance just in case I needed to change my flight. Well I did need to change my flight to get a few more things done before returning home. The answer I recieved when I called was that I had to pay 600 dollars for the change and then file a claim for possible reimbursement. The whole round trip flight only cost $250."
Pros: "The boarding line up for each group."
Cons: "All the flight attendant look unhappy the moment we got on board. We have to pay for entertainment. The air was so cold and they dont have blanket."
Cons: "Not enough leg room or seat size. Just uncomfortable."
Pros: "Flihht was cancelled night before. Rep said impossoble to get him home the same day. Looking online there were flights available, just more expensive and doesnt follow their policy. Very disapointed"
Pros: "That I survived."
Cons: "30 min delay because of a.c. and still was not fixed"
Pros: "The man at the counter gave me a much better seat than I originally had. He was pleasant and very customer-friendly. I can't remember his name but he had brown hair, glasses and a mustache. I was extremely exhausted from my Las Vegas flight and it helped me greatly."
Cons: "Slow, rude check-in staff almost made us miss our flight. Crew was unpleasant to us. One member was wearing a repulsive, visibly dirty uniform shirt. No service due to turbulent flight."
Pros: "Attendants were nice."
Cons: "No entertainment screens & last seat didn't recline."
Pros: "The crew members were very friendly"
Cons: "My seat was a tad bit uncomfortable."
Cons: "There was a sick passenger on board. The crew spent 40 minutes trying to convince him to get off the plane. He refused and after 40 minutes, they left him on and we finally left the gate."
Pros: "We were lucky there was an empty seat on our row of three, which made it a little more comfortable."
Cons: "Some of the crew was not helpful, cramped, no food. Next time will book 1st class for a 3 hr flight. We were delayed 1 1/2 hrs due to weather in Philly, nobody's fault just inconvenient."
Cons: "United was boarding at least TWO flights out of the same gate, at the SAME time. My luggage was delayed and the United agents in philly told me it would be in at 7 pm... It was in at 7 pm two days later. They sent it to Knoxville for some reason? Will not fly United again."
Cons: "The Flight was late taking off with no explanation. We were on the plane for an hour prior to takeoff with no AC. The cabin was extremely uncomfortable."
Pros: "flight attendants were pleasant. plane was clean"
Cons: "I was stuck with commercials for direct tv, two feet from my face the whole trip. I would push the button to turn tv off but it would come back on less than five minutes latter. I had my head phones in listening to personal device but was still distracting. speaker for announcements were extremely loud. the poor lady next to me would jump and then plug her ears. question, if you are allowed one carry on and one personal bag, why do you only have space for a third of the passengers to stow said bags?"
Pros: "honestly nothing"
Cons: "Both my flights were delayed. The seats are cramped and uncomfortable. They don't give any food at all. There is no free entertainment."
Cons: "Had to pay for my own shuttle to the train station (an hour away) and sit on an overcrowded train for hours. Extremely disappointed. Flight was canceled do to "air traffic control." No attempt was made to put me on other carrier's flights even though there were open seats with another airline."
Pros: "Boarding was nice, and fast, but inly because I'm handicapped. Crew was pleasant."
Cons: "I didn't like having to pay $4/2hrs for internet/movies for a 3 hour flight....$8 to watch a movie on a 8" screen?? Come on! If you have it available, why isn't it free or included in $600 ticket price? I'm 6'0" tall and weigh 218lbs and I felt like a sardine in a can. Seats are WAY cramped! They probably are comfortable for a 7 year old girl...."
Pros: "Flight left OT."
Cons: "Uncomfortable slimline seats."
Pros: "The lcd screens in the back of the seats and the availability of watching whatever you wanted was nice. The flight was short so TV cost $5.99. Usually wouldn't do it but the Masters was on so it was a great way to pass the time!"
Cons: "The delay due to weather."
Crew were great. Food and beverages are all for purchase so at least bring a water bottle! Seats were the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced and they do not recline- horrible for a long red eye flight!
Pros: "Comfortable, clean seating close to the gate, smooth efficient boarding, flight was on time, seating on the plane was comfortable enough for this short flight, including enough leg room even in the regular seats, though not conducive to sleeping because of the inability to recline. Crew was pleasant and did a fine job."
Cons: "There was no coffee or breakfast available in the Fort Lauderdale terminal while waiting for this 7am flight. The terminal was plenty busy, and a coffee cart or kiosk would make a lot of money and keep everybody happy until restaurants open…. Or just open the restaurants earlier."
Pros: "Quick responses although they didn’t help."
Cons: "Entire seat cushion came off getting into seat, trash left from previous flight, was given the wrong info from kayak then wasn’t given a barcode on the boarding pass in the reply from Spirit"
Pros: "The crew assisted us in getting Standby passes when we missed our original flight. The Spirit representative (Isabella) was amazing in help my family and I get back home."
Cons: "Better organization of flight departures and notification of long airport bag check-ins."
Pros: "Place was clean."
Cons: "I’m just happy I got to my destination safe. I had no issues."
Pros: "One flight attendant was comical and kept things light."
Cons: "Baggage drop off is unnecessarily lengthy and travelers should be warned. It’s unlike any other airline. Luckily I arrived early enough to allow for the additional time, but if you don’t factor it in you may miss your flight. There is no beverage service and the tray tables are half sized and unable to accommodate a lap top. You’re forced into being crammed typing with the computer on your lap. Minimal and piecemeal communication regarding our diversion to another city. There was clearly no communication from the pilot to the flight attendants who were trying to do their best to assist passengers. If you’re diverting to a different city, passengers have a right to know what’s going on. Hidden/extra fees. I see no cost benefit in flying Slirjt due to all of the fees"
Pros: "Onboard crew was very helpful and friendly."
Cons: "Everything else “Spirit” related was a debacle. We lost our baby’s stroller attachment for the car seat. Very helpful as without it we are unable to use our stroller. Attempted to have several Spirit employees help however all everyone did was send us to another person and ultimately the last person just ignored us. We went down to baggage claim to see if by chance anyone turned in the attachment but we’re only told to file a report and if they so happen to find it they will contact us. This is no help whatsoever. Will never fly spirit again!"
Pros: "Flight took off and arrived on time."
Cons: "Navigating the Spirit Airlines web site is like dealing with a used car salesman; you have to watch every single step of the way, because they will add unnecessary, unwanted charges if you are not careful. After this trip, I will never fly Spirit Airlines again. I wish I had booked a 1-way flight, rather than round trip, so that I could return on a decent airline. There is a reason that Spirit gets a 1-star rating on www.consumeraffairs.com/ If I have to fly to Atlanta to Philadelphia again, I will take either United or Delta."
Pros: "Spirit airlines was awful. They have an extremely unfriendly crew coupledo with no room. They don't have anywhere in front of you to place a book or water. They charge for water, coffee or chips. That might be almost acceptable if they were cheap, but they charge like any other airline. Bad experience. Americs, Delta etc. You're all better"
Pros: "When I booked my trip, I didn't realize that it was picked up by Flight Network. All of their correspondences to me indicated that I was leaving on the correct date but they informed Spirit Airlines the incorrect date. I ended up being a "no-show" and loss $300 because once I called the airlines they told me I missed my flight two ago prior to my scheduled trip! I was stuck in Las Vegas trying to get up enough money to get a ticket home! Why would Spirit use this third party agent after repeated issues with their service? Losing the $300 was a huge financial burden for me and my family."
Pros: "I had to pay more for the nicer seat but it was worth it."
Cons: "I had to pay for early boarding. I had a medical bag that I wanted to ensure was stowed in a safe place. They never called the early boarding for those that paid. They called those who needed assistance, military and those who were previously on the plane. Then all passengers. If you wanted a refreshment you had to pay for that choosing from a really dirty menu. I flew home on American Airlines, paid the same fare as Spirit, had a comfortable seat I didn't pay extra for and was also given drink and snack included. It was all considered cheaper than flying Spirit and less frustrating."
Cons: "Baggage fees are so high that I would rule out flying Spirit in the future."
Pros: "The staff were nice"
Cons: "Seats are uncomfortable. I felt cramped. The plane stunk so bad! No entertainment"
Cons: "The flight from LAX was delayed twice and took off more than three hours later. The flight back from Philadelphia to LAX was canceled about two hours before the flight was to take off. Arranging a substitute new ticket on American cost me more than $680 - Spirit was offering an unacceptable replacement flight which would have been 2 days after the cancellation. Then, Spirit offered ONLY $50 as a coupon - instead of refunding the nearly $200 paid for the cancelled flight (or the actual damage of +$680). After I argued with Spirit they agreed to refund the cost of their ticket to LAX. END RESULT - Hours were lost due to Spirit delays and the flight cancellation, inconvenience was endured and more than $500 was lost. Very bad life flight experience."
Cons: "The plane was late to arrive the monitors we're showing the delay, the gate assistant still said it was on time and online was saying ontime. Once boarded , unless you pay extra for seat you are cramped in the smallest, most uncomfortable seat that does not recline. Although the base price was cheaper it was more expensive to check baggage, and everything is add on price including water. Plus if you didn't check in ahead online there is a charge and you have to pre pay for bags because it is $50 per bag at airport. Will never fly with them again. Worth the extra money for another airline."
Pros: "The crew was nice and I didn't get "taken out". They were good."
Cons: "The seats were uncomfortable. Most uncomfortable flight I've ever been on (first time with spirit, coincidence?) and the jerk couple in the first class seats in front of me, cause me at 6 foot got put behind first class, kept their seats reclined the whole way back the whole time. It was awful. I had zero leg room. Cramped legs the whole time. Couldn't sleep on the red eye flight because of it. I hate you spirit. Never seen a flight have seats right behind the only damn reclining seats in the whole plane."
Cons: "Will never fly Spirit airlines again. First flight was cancelled, return flight was delayed by almost 2 hours. I waited at the ticketing desk for 3+ hours (while on hold with customer service on my cell phone). Never had my call answered and also did not ever get to the counter for my refund. HORRIBLE experience, worst customer service ever. A total inconvenience, I had to rearrange all my travel plans, incurring many additional expenses and also book a different outgoing flight at a higher cost in order to get to my destination. Also, the flight seems cheaper but then they gouge you by charging for your seat and also for your carry on. Not any cheaper in the end. NEVER AGAIN."
Pros: "not much...will not travel again on Spiritl"
Cons: "1) Seats not comfortable to sleep, no push back (was on red eye flight) 2) Delayed coming back from Vegas 3) I was trying to select a seat next to my friend and had to pay for getting seats together 4) Pay for every possible service (glad i don't have to pay for bathroom as of now) and not as cheap ticket to Vegas. 5) Felt like being treated like school kid (disciplined) when read about how baggage fares change with time to $100 @ gate. (too much). Too much to worry when I want a pleasure travel... 6) I will never travel on spirit for more than 2 hr flight time and that too when i have a great deal (that compensates for seats, luggage etc.,)"
Cons: "They have hidden fees that Kayak is not telling you when you buy their tickets. They chrged me $57 just for small carryon bag and then you have to pay for the seat separately to board the plane. What is your ticket for? Reason to get to airpirt and ready yourself to pay what ever they ask. One has to pay additional fees to get boarding pass....."
Pros: "The staff was very polite knowledgeable and always smiled and some joked with made the flight a pleasure."
Cons: "I didn't know that the bag check was 40 pounds most are 50. I booked though a 2nd party and was not informed about having to pick a seat and the you had to pay for a carry on. They do not tell you about this be for you check out and also if you booking for 2 you may not be together on the flight unless you. pay before hand and then pick your seat. Also when looking for a phone umber on the web site and you hit contact us it sends you to the help and doesn't not show a phone number to talk to a person. The flight was good. I don't think that you should have to pay extra to make sure you are next to your family when traveling"
Pros: "Even though every flight I've taken with them has been delayed by an hour, they are fast to get everyone on board and quick to take off. I did like how they slowly came up with the lights upon landing I stead of abruptly turning them on like other airlines."
Cons: "The price of the flight is misleading, by the time you're finished paying for luggage, seat selection, and BUYING a coffee or water, etc. I Should have just gone with another higher class airline. The seats were extremely uncomfortable, the trays are positioned too low, so they aren't good to rest on and the chairs don't recline. Both flights were extremely cold, delayed by an hour and overbooked so they were having difficulties seating. I wouldn't suggest using spirit unless you are on a quick flight [under 1 hour and a half] for a short trip that only necessitates a personal bag."
Pros: "Comfort, clean seats"
Cons: "Fare cheap but all the 'musts'made it more than any other airline: $9 Online fee; $25 kiosk fee (which didn't work and had to pay $50 fee to check in with clerk; had to check bag approved for under seat/carry on (12"c12") and since kiosk didn't work, charged $60 for 1st bag, even though I paid $60 for a 'first checked bag' and 2nd bag should hAve been cheaper. It was TSA agent who told me I would be required to check the bag by Spirit as it didn't meet carry on criteria and if I didn't check now, would be $100 at gate. I told her that I was traveling back with same TSA approved (and Spirit online rules) and she became rude and rejected my bag (and did a complete body search) so, I was forced to check the bag or miss my flight. I asked her and the Spirit clerk (3) if this was a TSA/ Spirit racket with kickbacks for TSA and/or Spirit and NOT on of them laughed, smiled, or denied this question. Mever again will I fly Spirit airlines or recommend to anyone!"
Cons: "Everything! I made it through check in with a personal bag but when ready to board was told it was not a personal bag and I would need to pay $65 or surrender my bag! Needless to say I was not giving them another penny so the bag stayed. Employees are not friendly. I usually only fly southwest but unexpectedly had to fly a couple times within a 3 week period and was trying to save some $$$ so figured I give spirit a try but I guess you get what you pay for!!! NEVER AGAIN! I'd rather pay a little extra and be treated better! NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION! BY THE TIME I GOT DONE WITH ALL THE FEES I COULD'VE FLOWN SOUTHWEST!"
Pros: "Our flight was delayed and then cancelled. There was one woman who was helpful in customer service when I arrived at the airport. I explained that I had to change my flight recently and am 6.5 months pregnant. Because my travel was booked within 7 days of the original flight, I was charged a $90 fee to make the change even though I made the change within 2 hours of booking. I was not reimbursed the difference of the flights. I was instead given a voucher to use within 60 days for the difference minus the $90 fee. I sent to online requests to customer service requesting contact because I am pregnant and will likely not be up for travel for several months. I got no response. The customer service rep who helped my friend and I book a replacement flight when our flight was cancelled was great and did his best with a sense of humor. It was obvious all of the staff did their best but were honest about the limits they had in being helpful: we waited in flux for an hour to find out if the cancellation was confirmed after being delayed for several hours. It was made clear that the replacement flight had to be within the range of the cost of the original ticket. Spirit ticket costs are completely misleading because of fees added for carry on bags, printing a ticket, water on the plane, etc. People tried their best but the set up including the website feel like an intentional scam."
Pros: "The airport personal was very nice and helpful."
Cons: "I have never been a such an uncomfortable plane. I had to take off my sweat shirt to sit on. There was no padding on the seat and the seat were very tight."
Cons: "I could not even get to Myrtle Beach because of the hurricane the weekend before my return flight was scheduled. They would not even consider a refund when I tried to reach them on Monday, October 10th.First of all their Customer Service was in the Philippines and had no idea of conditions here. All he kept saying was that weather would have to interfere with my flight and the fact that I was not even in Myrtle Beach did not enter into the discussion. I will try to avoid flying Spirit in the future."
Cons: "Long line at check in time.no help.chraged double the money for baggage check in since booking was done through third party"
Cons: "I spent a lot of time troubleshooting my entire experience with Spirit Airlines from start to finish. Kayak makes purchasing a ticket easy. However, after you get the bulk of my money, things change drastically. Spirit Airlines is deceptive – they trick you into thinking you have a good deal buying a ticket. Then you end up spending money on things you don’t normally have to pay for making it even more expensive than a normal airline AND it’s a much more annoying experience. My first problem was trying to purchase bags a few days before my flight. Spirit’s website consistently gives me an error after I put in my payment, and this isn’t the first time. I figured out after two error messages that their site doesn't play nicely with Chrome's autofill. On my third attempt, it told me I had bags but that I couldn’t print my boarding pass unless I called customer service. Calling Spirit’s customer service hotline was the most bizarre, irritating, and time-consuming experience I've ever had. They are clearly trying to frustrate people and make it difficult for them to reach an actual human being. They even state that explicitly. When I did finally reach a human being, she was shouting at me like a drunk person and I found her to be patronizing. You should know that at the end of the conversation, she read her good-bye script and hung up on me without waiting for my response. Classy. For my return trip from Fort Lauderdale, I arrived two hours before my departure yesterday morning at 6AM and was directed to stand in an obscenely long line that OUTSIDE in TERMINAL 4 in the DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA WHERE PASSENGERS ARE DROPPED OFF. We are forced to stand in line and inhale exhaust from cars and cigarette smoke from the smokers smoking in the designated smoking area AND the exhaust from cars. I have asthma and have been experiencing issues all day. It is obviously irresponsible and unthoughtful Spirit to place customers in a designated smoking area as they wait to check in but IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL. I am without health insurance and if I require medical attention to restore normal breathing patterns, I will be asking Spirit Airlines to cover that expense. I would like a full refund from Spirit Airlines."
Pros: "-Flight left on time -Flight arrived early and was very smooth"
Cons: "-Spirit offers zero amenities with their flights, even charge you for a glass of water -Seats were uncomfortable for me, but if you want an upgrade, you need to pay again"
Cons: "When I was trying to print my boarding pass the night before my flight, I was not through email or online given the option to purchase bags. When I showed up at the airport, they charged me $50 to check my bag. It was unfair that customer service did not at least give me a voucher for free check in for the next time I fly or a credit for my next flight with them. It's a bit discouraging to fly with spirit again knowing this could happen again."
Cons: "We were surprised to learn that our trip would cost an extra $100 as a penalty for bringing carry-on luggage. $52 for a checked bag and $55 for a carry-on. We were then repeatedly shown playful messages reminding us that we would have saved money if we had only paid for them earlier online. For our four hour and fifty four minute flight, no complimentary drinks or snacks were provided, not even water, though there were drinks for sale. Thankfully we had packed our own snacks. We felt kind of scammed with the bags. And the whimsical marketing style was insulting. Spirit Airlines apparently wants to be relatable and hip, but the actual flight experience was stingy and alienating. They did get us to our destination though."
Pros: "I LOVE the smooth ride of the flight. No turbulence"
Cons: "I was not informed by text the flight was delayed. 3 hours. ILearn Once I arrived before 5:30 p.m. . The flight is delayed until 9:03 p.m. . They kept telling the passengers. It was a severe storm in Philadelphia... I have several other workers stated we were bumped. Because of a mechanical problem with another plane. I check back with family in the Philadelphia area. It did not storm nor rain. So spirit customer service told untruths. As per company overhead. The aircraft was extremely crowded. Crying babies. Adults who did not take a bath. Overall disgusting for my first time ever flying with Sprint. What a lasting impression"
Pros: "The line at the bag drop took much longer than the security checkpoint. The seats on the aircraft were quite uncomfortable. Too hard and no recline was hard for a 3 hour flight. I understand upgrades are available for a cost."
Cons: "This was the first trip I have taken with Spirit and I honestly don't feel it was a good value. Everyone was nice enough but I feel like Spirit nickel and dimes customers too much. If the seats were less expensive then I'd understand but by the time I paid for 2 bags the overall price was much higher than if I'd flown another airline with no bag charges."
Pros: "as a flight it was fine."
Cons: "the charge for seat, without explanation the carry on charge, or the unclear explanation on the web as to how Spirit charges for bags it overall seemed as if the base flight price was baiting, and then during the process Spirit would tack on multiple charges and end up being the same price as all the other major airlines. no TSA pre Check I was discouraged by the seemingly deceptive pricing and webpage layout as to pricing. It just doesn't seem overly honest (it was honest though) the presentation seemed to veil the true prices as if Spirit won't be up front with who they are as an Airline or what they REALLY charge."
Cons: "having to pay $55 for my CARRY on. they canceled the flight and never told me. they put me on another flight without confirming it worked with my schedule. They had 2 people at the airport dealing with customers after canceling all flights out of Philadelphia. They should have had A LOT more! Everyone was rude. the air plane was extremely uncomfortable. no food, no water. you have to pay for EVERTHNING! i'll never be flying Spirit again. I should have listened to everyone when they told me not to."
Cons: "My flight kept getting delayed, and ultimately cancelled. For some reason Spirit did not feel the need to just let passengers know the status of the aircraft so that they could make other arrangements. I had to fly into a different city, rent a car, and drive home 2 hours (after sitting in an airport with no idea what was going on with my flight for approximately 6 hours). For my troubles? A $50 voucher for an airline I will NEVER fly again. No reimbursement. No nothing. And the kicker? It was entirely on Spirit. It was a maintenance issue. Absolutely horrible."
Cons: "Crew didn't inspire confidence. Sign on outside of plane visible when boarding about having the youngest crew in the industry--I'd prefer an experienced crew, not a young one. Dog on the flight, won't frequent airlines that allow this. Flight attendants didn't check seatbelts or luggage compartments. Flight attendants chatting to each other rather than greeting customers like it was a job at the mall. NO BAG DROP OFF LINE. Although I paid SO MUCH for baggage and opted to get a mobile boarding pass (which they wouldn't have accepted... in 2016), I had to wait on line with people who hadn't yet printed their boarding passes (and COULDN"T because the machines were down). If I hadn't gotten to the airport earlier than I needed to, I might've missed my flight on a day when air traffic was already backed up."
Cons: "Since I ordered through kayak I wasn't allowed to add additional bags. This cost me quite a bit more money. Then I called prior to online booking and the customer service agent was horrible. Deceived me into to pay more money for bags. She was also very rude and not helpful at all. This was a horrible experience. I am not even going into the flight. I was seated next to someone that was probably close to 400 pounds. He spent most of the time in my seat. Now I am sympathetic to obese people but Spirit should have placed him in one of the two seater rows or something like that. It was an absolute miserable experience."
Pros: "Charge extra for everything. The websites did not allow me to check in ahead of time, so had to do it at airport. Had hour and a half delay, but we're not told why. Will avoid flying with them!!"
Cons: "The agent inside Atlanta airport"
Pros: "they cancelled our first flight...and did not offer any assistance other than a refund. on our second flight we went to the airport in advance of the flight and NO one was at the counter to help us. We had to wait for one hour to get a assistant to wait on us! I will never fly with this airline again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Cons: "I did not like the fact that I get to the airport , lines were crazy the spirit staff in the airport were very rude. I went to pay for my baggage a staff member pulled me out of line and said no you need a boarding pass first so I go get my boarding pass at the kiosk then I go to pay for my bags and the person wanted to charge me $55 dollars for a carry on bag ( now this flight...all of the over head compartments were empty that should tell you something right there that your airline is a rip off) I said I thought they were $35 she said oh that's before you get a boarding pass, so your employees in the airport are setting your customers up so they have to pay more I would love a response email@example.com I have never had any issues with any other airlines I could keep writing about everything even to how nasty the flight attendants were unless something is done and I am compensated in some way I will never fly spirit again after this trip and will make sure my company never books a flight for any employee on spirit"
Pros: "Overall it was a mediocre experience, but none of the airlines make flying an enjoyable experience anymore... Service on Spirit was below some airlines, but overall it was OK."
Cons: "SPirit's lack of honesty and disclosure about their fees and policies. The tag line of "Less Money, More Go" is totally false advertising. By the time I completed my return flight, this trip cost me about $100 more than other airlines because of their seat fees, bag fees, up-charges... they even charge for you taking your own carry on onto the plane! What's next? Charging for breathing while in-flight?? Overall I will not be using Spirit again, and I will not recommend Spirit to my friends or my company.\ Mike Gibbore"
Cons: "Am a retired disabled vet and was to on my only trip for the year. I arrived for my flight 2 hrs in advance but i travel with a portable oxygen machine. I was refused boarding because I didn't have the correct letter from a doctor saying I was auth to fly on Spirit Air Lines. I am treated by the VA and they pay for the POC for me to be able to fly. I called the airline about a refund and was refused a refund because the flight had already left. I told them i was denied on the flight, but that was not an excuse. If i didn't do what is correct, I accept that, but not to give a refund is wrong. I have told everyone on Social media to be aware"
Cons: "Both times cancelled"
Pros: "Crew was good"
Cons: "Nonstop flight from LAS to PHL was canceled (2nd canceled flight in one weekend, 32 hours of delays total). Had to take a different flight that left earlier and got in later - complicating my plans. Baggage didn't arrive in PHL"
Cons: "Here's the feedback that I left on the Spirit satisfaction survey when they asked me why I will not recommend their airline to even my worst enemy: After my cancelled flight experience yesterday, I can say with complete confidence that I will NEVER EVER fly or recommend that anyone fly spirit airlines again. The primary reason is a complete lack of concern for my situation as demonstrated by 1) inadequate and incorrect communication of flight status. The departure status boards at the airport all showed my flight as "ONTIME" up until 20 minutes prior to scheduled boarding. It was simply by chance that I was reviewing my email while waiting for dinner before the flight that I discovered that my flight was either "delayed or cancelled", with no further information available. There was no one at the spirit gate to answer this question either. A phone call to spirit airlines led me to someone in India who did not speak very good English and was very difficult to understand, who finally informed me that the flight was cancelled, but the good news was that there is another scheduled in TWO DAYS. After making my way to the ticketing desk, I find an angry mob of former passengers who were not getting any assistance from the spirit staff. 2) No assistance provided following the cancellation. The obviously untrained simply yelled at the mob that there is nothing they could do. We were told that there is another flight tomorrow morning from NYC, but we would have to find our own transportation and lodging for the night. No assistance with finding a flight on another airline, no assistance with finding a hotel, no assistance with anything. Period. We were on our own. End of story. 3) Inadequate compensation. It cost me $600 for a flight back to WPB, which is as close as I could get to FLL. Then another $50 for transportation from PBI to FLL to retrieve my vehicle. What compensation was offered by spirit? A free flight to replace the cancelled one? Nope. 50 bucks is all that is offered, along with an email that says "sorry". I'm surprised it didn't say "sorry 'bout your luck, SUCKER!" Well you can take your 50 bucks and shove it. Did I answer your question adequately???"
Cons: "Flight to Philadelphia was actually very good but our flight back to Fort Lauderdale was cancelled during the airport check-in process!!!!!! This is the second time that this has happened to us. Previous time was about 6 years ago when Spirit decided to give our entire flight to the flight that was scheduled just prior to ours which was cancelled!!!!! They just left us high and dry for no other reason than they were accommodating the prior flight!!!! We decided then to NEVER use Spirit again But, we were hearing good things about Spirit and connections were good. Got home but cost $600.00 vx $150 credit from Spirit - NEVER NEVER NEVER WILL FLY SPIRIT AGAIN!!!!"
Pros: "The one flight attendant who really should be working for a better airline...the others totally clueless"
Cons: "Cramped seats, no legroom even for a short person...and I'm 6'4" I've tried the big front seat....super uncomfortable.. also the exit row...a joke. On one of the newer aircraft there was legroom but the seats are as hard as rocks. Spent most of the flight on my feet... customer service from ground and flight crew sucks...I guess u get what u pay for...I suppose travelers are going to have to equate cheap fares with less than optimal service. since that's the case with spirit I'd rather pay more elsewhere for comfort, peace of mind and great service. I had said before that I would never fly spirit ever, and gone back on my word for this last flight....and here we are again. Will never put myself or my spouse through this agony ever again. Whether it's $80 or $500, it's my hard earned money and you do not deserve any of it!!"
Cons: "My flight to LA was delayed by a systems crash, we spent 2-1/2 hours at the gate before departing. My return flight wagon time and I was looking forward to a relatively comfortable flight home, as i'd paid extra for an exit row seat on the aisle. instead, the person who sat next to me man-spreaded into my personal/seat space, shoving his shoulders into my ribs and making the 7 hour cross-country flight, exceedingly uncomfortable. When i voiced my complaints to him, he replied in an entitled and indignant fashion and redoubled his effort to invade my personal space. What's worse, is that this man was wearing a Spirit Airlines uniform and presumably, did not pay for his seat. I will never fly Spirit again."
