Pros: Alamo provided a discount because car was dirty
Cons: The car was dirty from previous driver. There was trash and cereal in the back seat, an open, half-full bag of cookies in console. Sticky residue on console. Windows were dirty.

RI to NYC
Pros: Raze of pickup and drop off on Sunday
Cons: Car was unsteady on road. Might have had a mechanical issue. This toll and gas presale stuff.

Pros: The vehicle was perfect. Comfy and perfect condition.
Cons: The hidden fees and extrs that brought the price from $190 to more than $300. The agent pushing to upgrade my contract in order to surcharge.

Cons: We arrived early - 4:30 a.m. and it was not clear where to drop Alamo keys. We were able to find a security guard who assisted.

Pros: Drop off attendent was very nice as well as speedy. Man at the desk during pickup was nice and attentive.
Cons: The Alamo reservation hotline was awful. I had a specific question on the location of the renal branch but rather than connect me they stuffed me back into the start of the call system. Being able to reach a human, who speaks english as a first language, should always be an option when the offered options fail. This is most peoples petpeave with phone systems if you do your homework.

Alamo-good; kayak-not so good
Pros: Alamo car was as expected. Guy at check out was nice when I was confused about the price-kayak does not add in all the costs like the other websites do so I was thinking the cost would be lower than the amount on the print out. He patiently explained it to me.
Cons: Drop off in NYC near Columbus Circle was tricky to find. No wiper fluid on car.

Pros: Easy check-in, easy return, comfortable vehicle. Just perfect.
Cons: The only issue was finding Alamo to return the vehicle. Better signage is recommended.

Super easy transaction
Pros: We were met right away in the garage I are very friendly gentleman . Again everyone we met with Alamo was professional and kind .
Cons: It was just a little hard to get to the airport from there but it wasn't any fault of Alamo's - The airport taxi just never came so we and an elderly couple one of whom was in a wheelchair had to walk to the gates - not a problem for us but we waited at least 1015 minutes before we finally decided nobody was coming

ONLY rent from Alamo if you're staying local in Wa
Pros: We worked with Jason at T.F. Green Airport to pick up and drop off the car. He was very friendly and professional. He was the ONLY positive part of our rental experience with Alamo.
Cons: We got rear ended on 95 North between Washington D.C. and Baltimore on our way back to Rhode Island. We called Alamo and let them know that we had been hit by another car and asked what they would like us to do since our car was disabled. I let the agent at the call center know that I had not purchased the additional insurance. She assured us that she would still be sending a tow truck to tow the car and give us a ride to the nearest Alamo. She told us the tow would be there in thirty minutes. Forty minutes later, we called the tow company to find out where they were and they told us that Alamo had not paid them, had cancelled the tow and that they had not dispatched anyone to come help us. We called Alamo again. They had no idea what had happened and told us another tow truck would be there in 45 minutes. 55 minutes later we called the tow company again (which we were given the incorrect number for) and they told us that they went where Alamo told them to and no one was there. They had the wrong location even though we were VERY clear as to where we were stranded. He said it would be another 45 minutes until he could get to us. FINALLY after THREE hours past when the first tow truck should have arrived, someone came to tow us. He was not aware that he was going to have to give us a ride (because no one from Alamo had let him know prior) and he barely had room for us. We arrive to the nearest Alamo SIX HOURS after getting rear ended, and I was hoping for some sympathy after the TERRIBLE customer service we had endured. We had been sitting on the side of a very busy highway for 5 hours total. The car was completely disabled. We couldn't move it, and we couldn't get out of the car as it was heavily raining. Twice we almost got hit by people swerving off the road in the rain. After all of this, when I thought maybe it was going to be done with, we get to Alamo and the agent at the counter tells me that because we did not purchase the additional insurance, no one should have come for us anyways. Totally negating everything we had been through. Especially after an Alamo employee told us we needed to wait there for the tow truck to come. The Alamo staff at the BWI airport was extremely unorganized. We luckily were able to exchange the car, but only after they told us we are probably going to be billed for the tow. That would have been nice to know six hours earlier, because we could have called our own tow truck and waiting the usual hour or two and gotten out of there. But NO. We had to get a hotel and make the trip the next day. This was the WORST possible rental experience we could have had. I will be warning anyone and everyone I know not to rent from Alamo if venturing away from the Warwick location, because I know if we would have been local at least Jason would have helped us out. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

If you want to get stranded...
Pros: I thought I liked the price. But it turned out that I was okay about paying a little more and actually getting a car.
Cons: My specified pick up time: 1 am. That was an option. When I arrived at the counter in the Providence Airport, there was a line of all Alamo customers and no staff. The cleaning crew said they had left at 12:30. When I called the 1800 number, the condescending male voice explained that the counter closes at 1 am. So it was my fault I was late. And like I said, I was not the only one they left stranded.

Pros: The guy handing over the little Fiat car was very enthusiastic. He had the car ready for us and showed me how the Sports mode works. Gave confidence that although little, it is a nice ride. And, it was.
