pick up and drop off was very difficult very hard to find where we were supposed to go and staff was not helpful and could not be bothered to say two words to us. we also had a tail light go out halfway through our trip which did not make us feel very safe that the vehicle was checked over before we left.9.2 Excellent

The fees and taxes portion of the original contract I paid for when I picked up the vehicle. Upon return of the vehicle I had to pay the same fees and taxes again. Also, how dare that you charge 15.00 for each toll on top of the state toll charges and the 15. each toll was alot more than each toll. I will never use thrifty again and will post negative reviews each and every place i can on a daily basis.6.8 Good

This location was not very busy so things went very quickly.Cons:
The vehicle I rented had clearly been smoked in by a previous renter (who --by the intensity of the odor --was likely a long-term renter). Rather than cleaning the rugs properly, an even nastier freshener was used, so I had to keep the windows open the whole time. The car also needed an alignment (highway vibration). The manager seemed appropriately concerned and gracious when I returned the vehicle so other than vehicle condition a good experience. .10.0 Excellent

The staff was very nice. The parking garage is NOT user friendly unless perhaps you are traveling by plane. I was dropped off by car at the front of the building. The elevator only goes to the third floor. Finally found a person who looked employed there, he informed me I was wrong. Then directed me to a different elevator that did indeed go to 4th floor. Did see Avis but did not see Budget except for a booth. Went over there who told me Budget is where Avis is. Would have liked some indication of where things are located so I did not have to wonder around a parking garage feeling lost.Cons:
I would LOVE to see some simple hints for using each car. After multiple times "pushing" start button the dashboard finally said step on the brake while pushing start. Then I could not find how to open the gas tank. Moving the side mirrors. Opening the rear door on the SUV. All these modern updates are very nice, once you know how they function!. No user manual in glovebox. Even a simple laminated card somewhere would do nicely.3.6 Mediocre

Rental car pickup at PVD is offsite, and neither Kayak nor Google tell you that. Also, the Payless pickup area was not staffed, so someone from Hertz helped me. Once I had the car, it was great. The little Kia was super-clean and comfortable.6.0 Good

The “manager’s special” turned out to be a pick up truck. I then had to pay an extra $10 per day for a medium size car. This car was the worst car I have ever rented. Dirty inside (including cigarette burn on driver’s seat), covered in scratches and dings, and then found it vibrated at over 60 mph and the clutch slipped. The car had nearly 40k miles and should not have been in service.2.0 Mediocre

My flight was cancelled, so I never got to RI. I called to cancel the car and was transferred more than 4 times and never got an answer to the question would I be charged for the rental. The staff at the pick up in Rhode Island was excellent. During COVID seeing/interacting with others can be stressful and the space was exceptionally clean, and I feel like they are handing the pandemic with ease. I will not hesitate to do this rental again a few times while I am not flying.Cons:

1) Have the vehicle ready for pickup at the appropriate time. Ours was dirty, and had less than 1/4 tank of gas. 2) Improve team communication. We reserved an SUV because we were 5 traveling together, and I communicated this to the Enterprise staff twice. They still got it wrong. I told them early on the morning of our rental when I called (per their request) to confirm the rental. I told them again when we called for pickup at 3:45 pm. They showed up in a sedan that held 4 (including their driver), so half of our party had to wait at the train station for another pickup. 3) VERY long delay at pickup due to issues #1 and #2. They offered to put gas in the car, and we agreed, thinking that the amount of gas in the car at that time wouldn't even get us out of town. But their gas run took 40+ minutes. Did they go all the way to the airport for it? As a result, instead of slipping out of town before rush hour, we had to drive into the heart of it. They should have warned us of the distance they had to travel for the gas, and the amount of time it would take. 4) No ice scraper in a vehicle, in the winter, in New England. Had to ask for that too.2.0 Mediocre
