One of my worst experience in car rental History.. Booked the car ahead of time. Showed up to pick up the car. No car available.. The agent promised to call as soon as a car is available. 4.5 days passed still waiting for the call..

DISASTROUS. I failed to notice that the “daily rate” for 3 days is different than 2 days. Using a rental voucher from a discount rental site, all seemed great - good rate of $40 per day. ($216.32) UNTIL I returned the vehicle. I made an egregious error in returning the vehicle (to make it easier on family picking me up)…5 hours 41 minutes TOO early. (Midnight) In fact, if I had waited 4 hrs 41 min. to drop off the key once the office closed at 11pm in Pensacola, I would not have been subject to the criminal fine of QUADRUPLING the daily rate to $174.99 per day! Upon seeing the totals charges of $652.25 (minus my original voucher of $216.32) I spent 30 min on the phone with the rental site & later 30 min with an Avis customer service agent, They graciously 🙄 refunded 1/2 the up charge resulting in me only having to pay … nearly DOUBLE my original voucher cost,.. a TOTAL of $403.95. Quite a penalty for returning my car 5-6 hours early! My oversight? Yes. Will I do business with Avis again? No way.

It is a tiny airport so didn't expect much but a gravel parking lot with no directions as to how to get out and lots of potholes was pretty disappointing. Had to drive around it twice to even find the way out. Otherwise friendly agent and easy check out. Same with check in. Rented trough an unknown website and only found out it was Avis by carefully looking at the fine print.

Appreciated that Avis held my reservation for my flight's 5 hour delay (arriving at CVG at 1AM) but not pleased that they gave my midsize SUV to someone else, and I was stuck with a large EV van.

Too long wait at airport second in line and about 25 minutes ridiculous. Then waited another 20 minutes for car

Price was good (booked through a 3rd party, not directly) and ended up with a free upgrade. Downside was I was double billed for the rental portion. Waited a week to see if they would realize I paid the rental portion through the 3rd party, but didn’t. I was able to get the amount refunded, but obviously there is a disconnect between the 3rd party agent and the rental company. The past few years with the spiraling cost of living, I have become quite negative and assume this was another situation where one of them was hoping I don’t look at my credit card statement and they come out with a win. But that’s where I am now and you can’t tell me they weren’t able to match up my payment to third party with the reservation that was booked. They had everything correct on the reservation but the prepayment. Uh, that’s odd…
