The hotel is very well situated, right above the Plaza de Catalunia, away from the noise of the Rambla but still just a few minutes walk. The neighbourhood is very beautiful, good restaurants in the street as well as some amazing artwork in the street. The hotel room was very nice, even better than on the photos on the website. Beautifully decorated and the beds were comfortable. We had a great view from our windows and the view from the 11th floor, where the swimming pool is, was amazing. Though the hotel isn´t very cheap it was worth every penny! The air condition could have been a litle bit cooler.
breakfast, room, location, cleaniness
the location of this hotel was excellent, the veiws from the roof top pool where breath taking.all staff where very helpfull. a great base to enjoy barcelona will book again when we return. the price for breakfast most guests we found eat out.
the location is very good the standard room little bit small , the room servise took my personal towel and i ask for it but they didn't return it back !!
The location of the hotel is perfect to visit the city We were given a smoker´s room when our choice was non-smoker. It was disgusting because of the smell in the room and also to be sorrunded by ashtrays all over the place
the rooms were clean and we loved swimmingin the pool
Very nice location, nice hotel, good breakfast
Location is superb. Walking distance to many of the tourist sights and shopping area. Easy access to metro and buses, and taxi stand is right at the corner. Spacious and Clean Room. Staffs are willing to help. Tapa bars nearby are also nice.
Location, luxury room, service They increased the fare almost double due to a soccer game. Does not include breakfast
Excellent location. Refurbished hotel with all amenities. Very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. Hotel restaurant could have better dinner menu. Very limited. Did not have breakfast there.
ideal location, just one block away from playa de catalunya. Nice modern hotel
The location was fantastic.
We liked the convience of the location and the style of the hotel. We had two single beds instead of a double.Corridors were a bit too dark.
Modern, relaxed hotel, easy access to the Ramblas and other tourist attractions.
The location of the hotel was second to none. There were signs for a Bar but couldn't find one.
Garden, location rooms and cafeteria are not clean enogh
Proximity to main sightseeing places. Ability to enjoy walk around and along La Ramblas. Close to grocery bazaar (good option for delicious low-cost dinner: selection of cheese + several slices of prosciutto + freshly backed bread in nearby bakery + bottle of good table wine). Shopping lover will appreciate boutiques along La Ramblas and L'Corte Ingles Department Store across from Catalunya Sq. Offered breakfast was not bad (quality and value). Laptops in rooms and free internet access. Proximity to LaRamblas has negative side: too noisy late into night. Rooms are bit small for family with 2 kids. Beds have metal cases and make horrible noise when anyone turns around at night. In the bathroom we had just a shower with no proper tub; thus when taking shower water would be all around the floor. Bathrooms lack hooks, thus one ends up leaving all the change clother on the toilet seat.
The location was ideal for access to the metro (within 50m), restaurants, bars and tourists sites. None, everything as expected.
The room was comfortable, clean and not what I imagined having read previous reviews, the staff on reception were very helpful and the location was perfect. The residents bar did not appear to be staffed at any point during our stay and the service during breakfast was less than helpful, however these are minor points and would not stop me recommending the hotel.
Very cclean room No kettle in room. No hot water for shower on the last day.
the location and the free wi-fi computers in the rooms were super.
The rooms had a comfortable bed and pillow. The rooms were clean and modern. The bathrooms are spacious and well maintained.
The room was beautiful and the staff helpful and friendly. The location was central and all sorts of transportation are within walking distance. We were lucky to get an upgrade to a room at the front of the hotel which have beautiful stain glass design balconies. We stayed when it was a little cooler in the evenings. The bathroom design is open and therefore when you finish showering you get cold a little quicker than you would in a closed off shower area. However this is for such a short duration it should not deter you from this great hotel. I would without a doubt love to come back here!
Location is best. Hotel is pretty upscale. Aesthetic. Pleasing to the eye. My credit card was charged before i checked in. Made the resrvation in euros. Was charged in dollars at a rate of 5% higher than what I would have gotten on my credit card plus commission. Was asked to sign a cr card slip that said I was offered a choice of currencies chose dollars and my choice was final.
I liked the location and modern style of the hotel. It is in easy walking reach of the centre of town and the roof terrace with its swimming pool gives excellent views of Barcelona The wireless internet connection in my room was non existent which was very frustrating and the two computer in the reception area always had a several people waiting to use them
Good location in the middle of the eclectic pulse of Barcelona, a matter-of-fact, most of city's buzz is right in the hotel lobby bar. Design trying to hard, instead could use a good hard cleaning.
The staff was wonderful. The room was sexy and comfortable. The location fabulous.
Room was very noisy. Could hear ladies talking in room above and constantly heard their high heels walking around above. Outside noise was very loud. Housekeepers in hallway very loud talking early in the morning every day. Room was stained and furniture showed signs of wear. Great location. Great lobby and hallway design.
hotel should be mostly for gays. There were many straight couples, guess they did not know they arrived in a gay hotel. looks like too many straights for the gay community, to many gays for the straight guests. I am gay but this time the mix was not good. Check in lasted forever, they write you a guest pass by hand, it takes forever... worst check in in my life. Hotel was not able to provide service to print out my online boarding pass.. what a shame. I did not feel anything of the original gay concept, I felt they just sold out the hotel to anybody just to make money ( whats ok), but this was not my axel hotel from some years ago. It was just a very busy hotel and not sure if the value for the hotel was very good this time. Just my opinion.
We checked in with Daniel in the front, who was AMAZING. He is so sweet, attentive, and adorable. We couldn't stop talking about what a gem he is. He gave us tipa for our stay, offered to print out our tickets to La sagrada familia, which were ready for us as soon as we went downstairs. We really enjoyed the customer service here it was the best received in our entire trip in Spain. Beds were small but that's normal in Spain
Location. Great roof deck. Got a good rate online for a Premium Deluxe room. It was nothing special - not premium or deluxe by my standards - very basic. When we arrived, needed to use the toilet facilities - no toilet paper in the large one on the 1st floor - went to dining room to inquire for paper or another facility to use. Was given napkins for the restaurant to use.
AIt's a gay hotel but 'hetero friendly' me and my wife stayed with a group of friends and didn't feel anything strange. Friendly staff, great location, nice rooms and good value for money. One of the reasons to chose it was the spa, but it cant be called a spa. 1 Sauna, 1 steam bath and teh pool and jakuzzi were not functional, some dirty stagnant water in the pool and we didn't use the spa after first trial. Also the minibar was nnot filled regularly and the room was not cleaned properly.
Marisol! And the rooms were stylish. Rooms smelled of cigarette smoke.
Location is great, near all touristic attractions No complaints
Every thing about Barcelona Nothing all ok
The location is amazing and the rooms are very clean and stylish. we could not check in until 3pm eventhough I asked for early check in. They did however take our luggage. I did not like the bed spread it was really uncomfortable and scratchy.
staff were most helpful and the location was very central
The room was plenty of space for my family. The location is very strategic to do tourism in Barcelona city. The loby is very small and he room service is not full of options.
Very large and quiet room We ask for a non smoking room but according to the smell it was not
Location is great, near all touristic attractions. The staff was very friendly Cleaning of the bathroom . The spa facilities were somewhat disappointing... Cold water in the spa-pool and not very clean.
we loved it being just off the pl catalunya, we loved how quiet the hotel bedrooms were, we liked the size of rooms, beds and bathroom, it felt very spacious. we had a lovely little balcony out to a quiet back street-not all rooms have these.we had a great time and will be back to the catalonia ramblas. the spa didn't offer very much in the way of treatments, so we didn't use it as planned.
restuarant Pelai coud be more attrativ with priceoffer in the evening and more visibel to guest from the street-it is too quiet.
Cleaning - exceptionelle !!! I was with my 9 month child, (stressed about cleaning) - and it was perfect for me !!! I liked to have the option: with or without breakfast because we wanted to have it in downtown... and thanks for the tea and coffee from the room, free of charge .... Special thanks to City taxi because they come back to the hotel and returned my wife handy lost in the taxi !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing special to mention...
location very central, pool area a nice relaxing feature front desk staff not very knowledgable about the area, events, etc. Having to move mid-stay du to a flood in the room above us was an inconvenience.
Friendly stuff, nice room and bathroom. No indoor pool, top floor room rather noisy at night due to rooftop machinary.
the location is excellent. no iron provided. kinda of difficult for business traveller. also the hotel seems dated.
Location, breakfast In improved number there was no promised dressing gown and slippers
Excellent location just off Placa Catalunya, around the corner from Las Ramblas. Quite expensive.
Excellent location and very friendly personnel. Spacious suite rooms. We stayed at two rooms. In one of them, the air conditioner did not work properly. We reported the problem, but it was never fixed.
Service was good. Breakfast delicious. The douche worked badly, it was very noisy. And doors worked not good, as after taking a shower, there were water on the flour everywhere.
excellent location The Hotel needs to be updated, slightly over rated.
The staff was very very rude and none professional It actually put us off from the start The hotel is well located and deserves better employees All over Saturday was great The reception from desk employee
The location of the hotel is great First of all the check in time is too late and the condition of the rooms is poor. It is not a 4 stars hotel mutch more like a 3 stars hotel.
Great location, but you pay for it. Rooms were tiny.
Excellent City centre position
The location was excellent, the service was great. The room was large enough to live in comfortably for our two week stay, and well designed. The restaurants were both excellent, and the rooftop pool deck was a perfect place to practice yoga in the morning with a gorgeous city view.
Excellent service and very kind and helpful staff. Tasty styling, nice beds and quite room. The room was a bit dark for people of our age.
Location is excellent.
Reception staff were very helpful, the men especially, the first one we met on arrival was not very good !, everyone else was very good, cleanliness was excellent, would definitely stay again next time we visit Barcelona. On 2 Reception staff on arrival were not very efficient and tried to charge me for the deposit I had already paid.
location and cleanliness of the room
Perfect location, extremely clean rooms and public areas, delicious breakfast buffet, amazing staff and very comfortable beds. Occasional road noise
location is perfect the rooms are small but comfortable enough
I liked the design of the room, its comfort and all the facilities they had in it, breakfast, information pack and maps of most visited attractions in Barcelona and around it hand out during check-in. Also, the location of the hotel itself as it is situated in Las Ramblas.
clean room . the hotel has a great location. we had to pay for a connection for electric.
The location could not have been better. The staff was quite helpful and spoke English very well. The hotel was expensive. The location accounted for much of this, but at these prices, the hotel should have been even nicer.
good location overprice, poor room facilities, room was cleansed poorly
too noisy. the windows were not good
Excellent service. Great location Construction is still going on. There're no room safes and no pool
Nice hotel. Clean and not far from the center. poor wi fi signal in the rooms.
Helpful, friendly staff. Comfortable bed. central location Room facing the street very noisy, but transferred us to another, much quieter room on request.
The location was central. The hotel is still under the construction. It should not be open to the public yet. There is a smell of cement and paint throughtout the hotel. Some of the corridors are not carpeted, just the basic cement is on display. The staff are obviously very new to their jobs and it took us ( a group of 9) an hour to be checked in. There is no pool or sun deck as described - this again is currently being built. The room I was allocated first, was overlooking the construction of the pool and there was a jack hammer going constantly so I was moved to a room in the front of the hotel which was slightly better but still beside a very busy and noisy main road. This hotel even when finished will not in my opinion warrant 4 star status. The rooms are small and cramped and its location (beside a main road) really lets it down.
Breakfast was great. Location was great, near placa universitat. Room was clean and big enough for two people. I would use this hotel again.
Check-in time took a long time............and air con did not work.
location was good and it was clean and friendly
Room was recently renovated and was large by European standards. Room was extremely noisy due to the busy location and the fact that the finishing around the window was not completed. There was gap around the window for air and noise to flow through.
Great locattion of the hotel ,ideal for sightseeing(close to Plaza de Catalugna)Nice breakfast Although I did ask for a quiet rooms, we got the rooms overlooking the main avenue. No double glazing so very noisy. Also the daily cleaning of the room was quite basic. One door of the cupboard came out of the sliding door and although I did mention it to the reception, it wasn't repaired until we left.
Perfect location to be close to the center and away of the noise. Great recepicist (from Argantine) to get his recoomendation for your paln in Barcelona. 50m from the metro station. No lobby. No Shampoo!!!. It was hard to find its building when the taxi deliver us from airport.
This hotel was a great surprise in terms of quality, price, location, and service. It's located on a great street for shopping and dining, and only blocks away from the airport bus shuttle. John at reception was very kind and friendly, circled lots of things on the map of Barcelona for me to see, and recommended some restaurants. The free glass of sparkling wine was a nice touch as well. The room was fantastic, with a beautiful soaking tub and comfortable bed, and a balcony that opened up onto Passeig de Gracia. It should be noted that this room is great for solo travelers or anyone who doesn't mind an open concept room. The shower and toilet have frosted glass doors, but the tub is open. It may not be private enough for some people, but I thought it was fine as I was solo. The mini bar wasn't too expensive either, which can be hit or miss at many hotels, and had s great selection of snacks/beverages. Overall this was a fantastic stay in Barcelona and the hotel made it that much better. The only negative to the hotel is completely out of their hands, but there is a new retail store being constructed below, so after 8 or 9 am, it can be a little loud. It looks like it's just starting, so it may go on for quite some time. This wouldn't stop me from stating again by any means, but if you party all night and want to sleep in, it could be tough.
The staff was spending and welcoming. The room was BIG for European standard. The bed was comfortable and shower was very very nice. The location could not have been better - We absolutely loved that !!! Bath towels were poor quality. A bit noisy if you are on 2nd floor facing street. There was a hint of mildew smell in our room
the location was great the toilet and the washbasins were very small
The location was perfect, and the staff was courteous and helpful. My room was very strangely designed (ironically). More importantly, the showers were not cleaned well - the glass walls were covered in a thick layer of soap scum - not pretty! Overall, it's listed as a 5 star hotel, and it's FAR from that. At best, it's a very good 3.5 star hotel, or a middle of the road 4 star.
Location, close proximity to lots of sights and shopping/restaraunts. Room was incredibly tiny. Not good for more than one person. Definitely not a 5 star hotel as it was advertised.
Nice location. Room was quiet at night. Comfortable bed. Nice shower. Breakfast was nothing special. Find something down the street to eat. Sinks look good but are impractical. Gym is not open. Worn carpet.
The Hotel was very lovely and well decorated, clean and the staff was very accommodating. The hotel bar offered free champagne, water, tea and coffee which was a wonderful and unexpected surprise. The staff assisted us in room upgrades, places to eat and what to see around the city. Wifi was included in every room as well as personal AC that worked extremely well. The room also had black out curtains and while being very centrally located ( a few blocks from the Gaudi House and a 2 minute walk to La Rambla) was also very quiet. I would deffinitely stay here again. Great place for couples or young friends looking to have a good time while still relaxing and getting some rest! The bathroom of the rooms where small and not separate from the rest of the room, and the doors to the toilet and shower were opaque glass that was see through when wet. Other than that no complaints.
excellent location, very clean room, nice decoration and wonderful jacuzzi on the roof terrace... the staff was very friendly. the entrance...
Location and quality of accommodation facilities
The hotel was perfect. Rooms were of a high standard and felt fresh. The locationcould not have been better. 2 mins from the Ramblas but far enough away not to be bothered by the crowds. Many locations are easily walkable and there is a great Metro station right outside. On arrival despite pointing out to the person on reception that we had booked a junior suite we were still palmed of with a standard room and had to return to reception with all our luggage etc and wait until we were given our correct room. On leaving we were chased down the street by the doorman claiming that we had not handed in our key despite handing it to one of the people on reception and saying goodbye. Very embarrasing to be dragged back to the hotel in public and then told "it's ok it's sorted" Put a bit of a damper on the end of the holiday.
location excellent.helpful staff.very well looked after
Central Location for Shopping
Nice classical building. Comfortable rooms. Lousy free internet connection. No gym nor swimming pool.
Close to everything - Great roof top views - Very helpful staff - Elegant Hotel and rooms.
Location Very uncomfortable beds. Overpriced room service options.
The facilities were beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly. The hotel was located in a central location. No face cloths, but i guess that is a European thing.
Location was very good. Near to shops and other places such as the Ramblas. Staff were efficient and the general ambience of the hotel was good. Rooms were clean if a little "spartan" ! Our room was on the 9th floor and overlooked the roof top of an adjacent building. Unfortunately all the air conditioning units were positioned facing our only window so if you wanted the window open there was a horrible smell of food ....
The hotel is in the centre of Barcelona, close to shops, historical sites and excellent transport systems.
location and how pleasant the staff was
We had the junior suite which was excellant. It was nice to have some luxury Staff were very helpfull and polite and offered clear and well represented views about where to visit in the city.
centrally located old and dated furniture, services advertised like the sauna not working and had not been working for quite some time
Great location, close to Major Metro stop, very helpful staff, nicely redone renovation, nice buiness center with several computers and printer. There is no wireless internet in the room and only 2 English speaking TV channels-both news. Entire renovation less than a year ago but the beds are hard and uncomfortable and there are no extra blankets or heavy duvet which is odd in the winter.
Everyting was great wouldn't change a thing...loved the old world charm and staff was wonderful and very helpful.
The Bar and public areas. See comment on question 1. Hoped to have an early supper in the Brasserie and found they had changed the opening time. Ordered supper in room which was poorly presented. Toiletries not always replaced.
The staff at the hotel are wonderfull and helpful
The breakfast was the best part of my stay. The ambiance of a covered garden, excellent service and food variety and quality par excellence. One of the best coffee I have ever tasted. Stayed at the single room and the 50 euro difference from the classic room did not justify the cut in amenities and room space. There were some things missing expected of a 5 star hotel such as welcome note, drinks or fruits, two sets of towels, etc. The room space was so tight that I had to open my luggage in the middle of the room. If you were royalty and brought your servants along, this would be the ideal room.
Warm, welcoming staff. Excellent concierge service. Great location, near high end shopping area as well as close to metro.
good jumping off position no face towels in bathroom. tv hard to use
It is rather dated. Pay tv did not work.
Hotel Palace was realy nice and relaxing, no
Central location The front rooms are very noisy because of intensive traffic and poor isolation. Limited choice at breakfast buffet.
Very much, is very good located If we would come by car, no posibility to parc in the hotel
The room was comfortable and restful
The view on top at the pool is magnificent. Central location, very good reception who know the way in Barcelona, the bars, the restaurants, where to go, how to go ... The pool was not heated, so too cold to swim.
Location Many things
the location oh hotel and its staff on my opinion design of the hotel is too dark
Close to everything.
The close proximity to the city centre and the amazing view from the rooftop deck.
clean, attractive, roomy room, everything worked
The location and the cleanliness of the hotel
Very good location. It's just a few blocks away from the centre. The room is modern and they even have a balcony. The hotel staff aren't helpful at all. very very very bad attitude.
good value, helpful staff Air condtitioning weak on 9th floor
The extortionate jump in room price on last night of our stay!!! Quality of breakfast was poor. Staff spoke very poor/no English.
A great location within steps to the main walking section of the city air conditioning was poor. We went with another couple and they had the same issue...the air conditioning did not work properly
Friendly Staff, room size and hotel location all excellent
Nice hotel, good breakfast selection. They do not have a changing facility after check out (which is very useful if your flight is at a later time)
nice spacious rooms, view was ok, airco was fine, beds were good and the nespresso in the hallway very nice! And the location is perfect in the centre of the nicer part of Barcelona just 5 min walk from casa Batlo and the subway, only 10 min walk to plaza Catalunya.
nothing the "romantic" room had two separate beds instead of a king-size one, one bathrobe per two, we had to ask for shampoo; they left one sweet per two; walls are so thin, we were hearing about all indigestion problems of our nextdoors. St.V.'s was absolutely ruined.
Rooms are well equiped, beds comfortable, clean hotel in the middle of one of the best shopping areas in Barcelona, convenient to several metro lines. The desk staff was less friendly than in many other hotels but competent.
Breakfast was excellent
This hotel is very functional for touring Barcelona. The location could not have been better. Extremely good for shopping and very close to good places to eat. Also very close to public transport. The room was a good size. We did not have a double bed but the beds were comfortable, the bedding very clean. The bathroom with the double basins was spacious and clean. We ate breakfast once. The variety was good and fresh. We had a room at the back facing a very large courtyard so it was very quiet. We had been told that hotels in Barcelona facing the streets can be noisy at night. The lobby furniture could be revamped but apart from this , would recommend this hotel
Nice hotel with excellent design. Perfect location in the city center. Kind personal. Clean rooms. Quiet atmosphere. Want to come back again. Shower,wc and sink were strange located. Breakfast could be better.
the extra-ordinary decoration we would prefer to be able to open our window -which faced the corridor-
Location poor service...no toiletries...no response to 3 requests to reception.....bar closed at 12...unable to get a drink delivered to our room
Central location, cleanliness Not sure about the practicality of the room design, particularly the wash/shower/toilet layout and construction. The shower itself was excellent. Room doors noisy when closing automatically.
The modern design of the hotel in general, and its location. The strange design of its toilet, it wasn't comfortable at all.
Its a great hotel with a fantastic location. Check in was easy. As my flight left late inteh evening and the hotel was clearly not fully occupied, I requested a late check out. Current check out time is 12:00. However, when requesting the staff at reception if this woudl be possible, I found myself in a position where the cost has to be negotiated, rather than the staff trying to accommodate me. This is a real pity, as it left me with the impression taht the hotel was desperate to squeeze some extra cash from me. needless to say, i checked out at 12. Although I am a repeat guest at the Olivia Plaza hotel I will in all likelihood not return to this hotel as there are a number of excellent hotels of the same standard nearby. Hopefully they will be in a better position to accommodate their guests in such instances.
We had a wonderful stay. Helpful and freindly staff , great room. Hard to beat this wonderful location. We will definately be back and will recommend this hotel to anyboby. Great value for money.
The location, the terrace, the staff. The room was small, with little storage space for clothes.
The rooms were very modern and comfortable. The receptionists and bell boys were extremely pleasant and helpful. The location was superb - close to the Metro, restaurants, shopping, sights. I made use of the mini-bar the first night. On the second night, the red wine was filled with tap water and recapped. The front desk did not seem surprised by this.
The room was not too big, but modern in style, and the service good. The location of the hotel is suberb 326 EUR for one night is too expensive, and the breakfast was not even included.
Quiet, near Ramla, very good service at reception desk.
perfect location to explore central Barcelona, but very quiet for a good nights rest the bar was shut for a few weeks!
It's location was ideal, two blocks from the Barri Gothic, the Plaza de Catalunya, and the Ramblas. Despite its being in the city, it was very quiet in our room.
Excellent location on a very quiet street, excellent beds, warm room
great location but bathroom is old, emitting sewer smell
Excellent location, very friendly staff, my room was clean and relatively spacious The price is relatively high for the age and furniture of this hotel
Location great. Staff were helpful and friendly. Beds were eall comfortable. Shower good. Instead of a double bed there were 2 singles put together, this was fine, except they were on wheels and kept on rolling across the room. Great if you want to rearrange the room though.
The room was clean with adequate space for 2 and the bathroom clean and comfortable with a tab. The hotel was on a quiet street but very close to the Ramblas as well. Close to the aerobus stop at placa Catalunya. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was nice but kind of expensive (16,2 euros)
Beds are particularly comfortable and reception staff very helpful. Would be improved by provision of a small bar in the seating area on the ground floor, adjacent to the Reception area.
Very central but quiet
location, quality of rooms
