The owners did a great job conserving the house in it's original style and combined it in a very tasteful way with modern elements. Very cosy place, spacious and very comfortable room with a huge bathroom. Good location in the city centre. If you have special dietary needs for breakfast even this is taken into account. So to summarize: a lovely place. A very minor thing is that it's a bit difficult to shower in the old bath tub.
Very nice place & people, very comfortable room and excellent atmosphere of the room.
Spacy bathroom, large bathtub, comfortable bed
This is a bed&breakfast but rooms are comparable with a 5* hotel, very very tastfull design, superb service. I travel a lot for work and rarely find a room which is such a gem. Lovely! I will stay here again. I honestly cannot find any downsides to this place.
Central location, cleanliness, huge rooms and bathrooms, well preserved old building, excellent breakfast This is not a hotel. It is a bed and breakfast. € 130 per night for a b&b in a provincial town is overpriced
distance to office, avoiding traffic, coveneient location rooms are like cellblocks, very basic and furniture was stained and dirty, no glasses, no tissues etc.
The food was fantastic and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
location was good need a light blanket on the bed
Close to the airport for an early morning flight. Two issues: i) the hotel advertises a restaurant that is not open on a Friday evening; ii) directions to the hotel on their own website are useless as there are major roadworks in the area. As the roadworks have clearly been there for some time, directions on their own website should relect this.
pleasant surprise. Desk clerk very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and tidy. Fantastic restaurant with chef. Would definitely stay here again. distance from airport. Was a 23.4 E taxi fare one way, but was cheapest hotel within 10 miles. We were just spending the night before catching flight out in the morning so didn't want to pay the 250E the Sheraton at the Brussels airport wanted for one night.
Location to my purpoase
Close to the airport. Free wi-fi internet. Not very easy to find, due to the works.
The staff were very helpful, the food was nice, the beds were comfy we can't really fault the hotel.
Traffic diversion for roadworks was unclear to non-Flemish visitor
Quiet location Had some difficulty finding the motel
Location of hotel near the historic center of Mechelen, Excellent breakfast.
Rooms in the really old style, comfortable and beautifull. I would recommend this hotel to everybody. In the room there is a coffe machine - you have to pay 3 euros per coffee/tea. In 4 stars hotel....
It is a great hotel in a real church. They kept the original details, but added the comfort of a good hotel. The breakfast was very good with lots of variation. The bed was fine, Bathroom and toilet seperate. Bathrobes and free slippers. Walking distance to the center of town, shops, restaurants and cultural center. The airco was not able to keep the room cool, so on this hot day the room was about 28 degrees, too hot to sleep in. Everything else was just great!
brand new, very stylish and comfortable
The unique design and reuse of a beautiful cathedral.
the unique design and architecture of the room the hotel had very limited parking. We had to park away from the hotel which was inconvenient and expensive
Cozy atomosphere and comfortable bed linen.
Excellent personal attention from the staff. Bed was super comfortable (it was my best night of sleep in 10 days on the road). Breakfast was very good and they make eggs to order. Rooms were a bit dark.
We were treated to an upgrade which was a lovely surprise and much enjoyed Having to pay for tea and coffee, I understand paying for MiniBar drinks but for tea and coffee!
Clean, tidy, well equipped room. The hotel was quiet at night allowing a good nights sleep in a sumptuous bed.
coffe and tea making facilities, large comfy bed, location pillows were too firm and small
convenient location; on-site parking Lighting in the bathroom was inadequate; parking spaces are very tight and the up-ramp is steep; necessity to get out of the car to open garage door
See a band play
clean spacious rooms, walking distance from the city center of mechelen too expensive (paid 140 for the double), reception area and elevator could be updated.
Location and speeed of check-in/out Price of breakfast, parking facilities
Not much Expensive;poor breakfast offer considering it was extra on the room rate.
Walking distance from the City. Parking on site excellent and then lift to hotel. Breakfast was not included in the price.
Decent size room, big comfortable bed, really comfortable armchair, clean, tidy, modern, convenient
Good staff, nice relaxing atmosphere The road works, the messy on the street parking and the shower curtain leaks on the floor.
convenient location; on-site parking poor lighting in bathroom; absence of magnifying make-up mirror
Good staff care, nice enviroment The breakfast is expensive and not really adeguate. The bathroom should be better: no descend bath mat, no tent in the tub, unacceptable in this level of hotel.
The atmosphere, the view from my room window, the helpful staff, the elegant bar/sitting area. nope!
The staff were absolutely superb. Nothing was too much. The hotel was superclean and friendly.
Breakfast The room was too warm.
quite close to the airport (about 12€ taxi) very small rooms but still ok for one night... wouldn't stay longer
Good shuttle service to airport and price Room is incredibly small
Very convenient from Airport. Easy acc to center and business around the airport. Some how there was a lot of noise. If a family stay next door, it could be... , but there are a lot of business people, I guess.
Location near the airport. (a) the price of food and drinks. Better bring your own. (b) The Ibis should post its phone number at the Airport Bus Stop, and encourage customers to call Ibis upon arrival. The Airport Bus serving the Ibis serves 3 other neighboring hotels.. When I arrived, I ended up waiting around for an hour for nothing. But once I called, it worked well. The airport information desk on the Arrivals floor will place the call for you for free. I recommend you call before you go outside to wait for the bus.
The airport shuttle's early in the morning (from 05:00 onwards) near my bedroom window with there engines running; noisy and a penetrating smell of engine gasses.
Meilleure pour prix
convenient location breakfast
The hotel was clean enough and comfortable, however the location is further than its peers from the train and bus lines, if you wish to travel into Brussels. Stay at the NH or Holiday Inn to be closer to public transportation. The receptionist gave us the WRONG departure times for the morning airport shuttles (which departed every 50 minutes!), forcing us to miss our intended shuttle, pay 20Euro for a taxi, and making us late for our flight. The staff is clueless and unhelpful.
I didnt like the smell of smoke in no smoking room.
The location we needed close to the airport was good. The room was small since we had a baby bed in the room.
close to business office first night very noisy (water pipes), limited menu in the restaurant
cleanness and hotels facilities (hotel shuttle on call during the night was very useful)
The roomservice menu is very poor, food in general is not of high quality. I had to drink my wine from a plastic glass!
The location to Budget car rental and the airport. The internet charge was ridiculous, and the internet service unacceptable, possibly due to spyware used by the service. When you charge for internet access, it should not include breaches in privacy. This alone will cause me to never stay at this hotel or any other hotel in the chain again.
Close to the ariport Room not clean (especially toilets and floor) - Very noisy : I could hear the other client calling his wife thru the wall, and all the noise coming from the corridor
The hotel is close to the airport & the shuttle service was good. The room was good. Arrangement with credit card was confusing - as I had pre-paid I had to come back to reception to register my CC to pay for restaurant. The service in the restaurant was very slow.
comfort and proximity to airport
Close to airport
Everything was perfect.
The ease of transportation to and from the airport and the location.
Efficient transfer to the airport Cleanliness, in particular the carpets in the rooms. In urgent need of change.
The food is excellent and compares with the best restaurants in the area. I had a room on the front of the hotel and the traffic noise starts at about 05:30 in the morning and is quite loud.
The food from the restaurant was very good. I stayed in the 2 second floor, where all rooms have a descending ceiling, so it was impossible to keep the standing position while in the bathroom! It was uncomfortable to sit at the toilet because of that. Also, the rooms are not sound proof and the corridor was very noisy when people walking and all doors where very heavy and closed with a big bang! Also, for €100 (including breakfast) I was expecting at least a good room with a ceiling that would allow me walk around the room!
The hotel was OK although still overpriced which is normal for Brussesl. . Room was clean and comfortable. The road noise was high but that didn't bother me. My shower had a leak and even though I told the girl on reception it was not fixed. They have a pizza restaurant onsite but for a basic pizza it was 13 euros. Also the female host had the charm of a cow eating grass and clearly was not there to make you feel welcome. When I sais I did not want anything to drink the look she gave me would have frozen water!Wireless internet costs 5 euros for 60 minutes which is stupid.
Great service, clean room, & very helpful staff! A little noisy from vehicle noise at night and early morning commuters.
Comfortable/Location Small bed
Restaurant offers good food Very small room for high price
Not much No coffee service in room. Could not stand up in shower (roof too low), bath too small. Did not present hotel's facilities etc (where is restaurant, code to get out of gate with vehicle. Asked me to leave at 10am while it says bookout is only at 12:00. Only one person speaks english. Reception was a mess. Breakfast was very limited.
Very friendly and helpful staff, adequate room, very nice restaurant with excellent food high room cost, the cab to and from the airport was 44 Euros, also expensive
The proximity to Brussel National Airport and teh free Airport Drop and Pick ups are the most salient points of thsi Hotel. No
A beautiful, comfortable, well staffed hotel. It was perfect for my 13 hour layover at Brussels Airport. Twenty One Euro for breakfast is outrageous. I ate about two eggs, two slices of bacon, a slice of toast and coffee. I can not eat Twenty One Euro of breakfast. It would have been nice if the restaurant was open for breakfast.
I called reception and waited for an unnecessarily long time before an irritated and unfriendly employee answered me. I asked for some utensils and he said "didn't room service give you this?" And I responded "This is not room service related", as I wanted utensils to eat with take away food. His irritation came through his voice while he said "fine." He hung up on me before I could say thank you. After this short but unfriendly exchange with reception, I never got my utensils! I never called back to followup . It wasn't worth the hassle and especially the rudeness. I improvised by using their wooden coffee stick as utensils instead. It wasn't easy to use but did the job with the scooping motion. I've never experienced such distasteful rudeness from hotel staff before until now. It really put a sour ending to my visit to Brussels. It only takes one uncalled for encounter to leave a bad immpression. Needless to say I will not be coming back to this hotel. And forewarning for anyone asking for utensils; good luck with that!
Great hotel close to the airport. 30-40 Euro taxi ride to town. Staff is great in the bar area. Nice service and food is well done. Carpets not the best of shape. Could be cleaned. Taxi service is a bit slow. If you need to be somewhere at a certain time, I would book the taxi the night before.
The free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and back.
Facilities, staff, restaurant and overall upkeep all excellent and consistent with 4-star designation. Airport shuttle was active/available (contrary to older reviews). Good location for airport access. Gated parking was 15 E on-site and was very convenient. Air conditioning was poor and room remained rather warm (sign on thermostat noted that it was an eco-friendly system so this may not be considered a major issue by some), only 1 full size towel for double room posed an inconvenience. Location very good for airport access but otherwise nondescript.
Close to airport especially if you have an early flight out of Brussels. Close to city centre too - station 5 minutes walk away. Time to city centre about 15 minutes. Taxi provided at hotel expense from airport to hotel during the day. Very efficient service. We left hotel at 5am. We had to take a taxi. Hotel pays for taxi after 6am.
Location and value Airport shuttle not 7/24
Food was excellent; staff was efficient and courteous One complaint: I extended my stay by a day and a half while waiting on a flight. When I called to extend the stay, the reception did not tell me the rate would be changing from 99e to 150e. This is a big difference and took me by surprise when I checked out. Not sure why the rate increased during a weekday but nevertheless I was not informed. I did not like this.
The room was very nice and roomy, the bathroom was modern, large and well equipped The wake up call system did not work and we nearly missed our flight
Access from motorway - very easy to find. Comfortable beds. Good value for money. Secure parking. Good breakfast. Minor point but would have liked extra pillows. If I had asked I am sure they would have provided these.
Very close to the airport, free shuttle, clean, modern, nice restaurant and bar. Train station is near by . Hotel is located in the middle of business park.
Free airport shuttle service, proximity to airport was good but not so close that plane noise is a problem. Staff helpful and room a good size and nicely set up.
The room was extremely clean and comfortable.
perfect room and bad jaquzzi, outdoor swimming pool are broken ,no breakfast .No free wi-fi in a room
Very nice and helpful staff in reception, good location for those who are travelling around the country, just off the motorway The double bed was too small for two persons
the food (breakfast and lunch) is very poor but very expensive. breakfast
the room service was fabulous
The desk clerks were very helpful. The rooms were great, and the layout of the hotel was great. No
location, big room, nice design
nice hotel, good facilities, near the airport, staff is very nice and helping
clean well equipped room.
Very convenient for catching early morning flight The hotel was under renovation - the only restaurant operating was very crowded and busy
Perfect. Just in front of the departure hall. The best place where to stay if you depart early in the morning.
Location is perfect. Walk to check in at airport. Restaurant costly and service in restaurant slow.
40 steps to Brussels international airport
It was conviently located for our needs. My wife and I needed to take a flight early the next morning and, while we aren't rich, we enjoyed our stay for the night. We were ready to take the flight. Leaving. It was sooooo good. It is unfortunate in this survey that there wasn't a choice "very good" because the item that we checked as good was very good, yet not excellent.
Excellent location I had a very badly soundproofed room (next to the lift). Outrageous for a room of that price.
Convenient location to airport and excellent facilities for the price.
Can't beat the location if you need an early flight the next day.... This is ripoff pricing. First of all, the website says rooms from E139. But don't try to find a room at that price, E209 is what you pay. Without internet. Without Parking. Without breakfast. Even Tokyo and Paris are cheaper.
Extremely very well situated across from Brussels airport entrance. It's the prime dpot to spend the last night before you leave. The good is good. Good breakfast. It's on the more expensive side but the location is what makes this property so convenient. There is a good train connection at the airport to get to the center of Brussels Antwerp Gent of Oostende. Its of course well understandable to the expensive side. Breakfast $25. But it's location makes you accept.
Can walk across street to airport. Bar area was short staffed so see I e was dry slow, but to their credit, the bar manage really was concerned. Plus their computer system was down
Position of electric outlets in rooms too far from bed
Convenient to airport - just walk across the street.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Having read other reviews I had expected it to be noisy, however this was not our experience. Having stayed at other Holiday Inn Hotels we were slighty dissapointed with the breakfast as it was a cold buffet. However this was an express and was reflected in the price.
Central location. On site parking. Rooms fair for price Difficultv location to drive to initially. Reception staff could be better.
Nice and local for city of mechelen. Parking within hotel carpark not available for minibus
Breakfast had a good selection of food and drinks. Some of the people on reception were not very friendly or keen to provide the sort of enthusiatic service I expect and recieve at other hotels I have stayed at in Mechelen.
very close to the city center (walking distance)
Friendly, helpful staff Not enough tea/coffee facilities in the room particularly milk.
room was very clean and free internet connection is very generous breakfast is a bit boring.
The rooms were very clean and modern. The breakfast was available when we went down at 11am on Sunday. It wasn't meant to be but they still let us eat which was much appreciated.
Fitness facilities, tv free channels, Wc is far from Bathroom, while (real) Moslems wash themselves after using wc.
I would expect business hotels to have free internet access or a reasonable charge per stay.
Very well located. Quiet. It was one of the "new look" Novotels which is an improvement on their former image. Would like to have dined at the hotel but was disapointed with the menu which was not very creative.
The room layout was excellent better than most I have stayed in previously
Clean, well equipped room that was comfortable, quiet and in a great location. Initial check in was poor. Less than helpful, just going through the motions after a busy day. Had to ask about timings/facilities rather than being told. Wasn't told about the free 20mins internet use in the lobby. Breakfast was very overpriced at 18euro per person.
The relaxed atmospere
It is a very comfortable hotel, very well situated, I recommend it to every body.
The room was clean and pleasant and the hotel well located for visiting Mechelen and the surrounding areas It wasn't clear what was available for breakfast on the two price tarriffs i.e. full versus continental. The process for registering and then being charged for breakfast was not clear.
It was central and easy walking distance from the town. The facilities were good, including coffe and tea making facilities and a choice of bath and shower in the room. Also, as it is a modern hotel, there is a lift, so no walking up and down stairs with luggage. Check-in and check-out were easy and no problem with the booking. Not really a first choice for a city break/holiday as it is more for business than a hotel with a lot of character, but the other side of that is that it has the facilities. In common with many hotels, they need more or bigger pillows. I don't know why hotels are so mean with pillows and it makes a big difference to the comfort. (A word about Mechelen is that it has a lot going for it, but its attractions are a bit spolied by the roadworks and is a bit scruffy around the edges - but that's not the hotel's fault.)
The age of the hotel There was nothing I did not like. Everything was ok.
Friendly Staff, Good size room
Pleasant and helpful staff. Good food. Excellent local draught beer. Friendly local people regularly drink in the bar and made us welcome.
Helpful, friendly staff in Hotel and Brasserie Weekend Room Maid not as efficient as weekday staff.
The shower, resupply of water bottles each day Very slow internet (weak signal on the 2nd floor), no Iron for ironing clothes (was also not supplied by my request)
Staff is kind and welcoming The hotel gets a bit old and worn out and would need some redecorating
good location of the Hotel
Nice location, nice building, good breakfast My room was not clean (stains, paint drops)
Nice restaurant~ The mattress is to soft and loose. and the queen bed is actually made of 2 singe beds...
We enjoyed walking out of the hotel and within minutes, we were in the main market surrounded by cafes, churches and shops, emanating a great atmosphere. The church bells next door rang on the hour, it would have been great if they stopped at 11pm and started at 7am.
The building its self was neat. Everything else to horrible! Yes, hidden fee's lack of communication from staff.
Aesthetically, the common spaces were lovely. The food and beer were reasonably priced at the restaurant, and the minibar prices were fair. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. To use the spa you have to pay an additional 13 Euro per person.
