Pros: Had issues with the original car rented, but the staff drove a new rental to us (3 hours outside of the city) and took the old one away. Great service.

Sketchy Car

Pros: There were options for upgraded cars. I originally reserved a compact SUV and upon arrival found that the car i was to receive was a hatchback car that was a stick shift. The attendant was willing to upgrade us at no cost to a Suzuki SUV to accommodate our luggage.

Cons: The car we were upgraded to was not of good quality. The windows did not roll down, the vent broke once we got out of the airport, the radio display did not work, and the suspension was horrible. The car could not go 55mph without wondering all over the road and feeling like it was going to tip over. Our friends went with Alamo Rentals and received a newer Ford Explorer for a small increase in price. In the future we will be going with a different company to insure reliability and comfort.

Pros: Gas mileage.

Cons: 1. Old, beat up Renault Duster 2. Tires were not rugged. 3. Manual was in Spanish only 4. Ground going into 3rd gear 5. Abs light and seat belt light were on the whole rental. 6. Driver seat and steering wheel did not line up. 7. Gas tank door remote lever was poorly placed. 8. Windshield wipers were worn. 9. Remote key could not open or lock doors. Battery was dead. Other than that, it was a piece of junk.

Pros: Very easy pick up and drop off. When we got the car at the airport and told them we'd be going to water taxi after drop off, they suggested we drop the car off at their other office, closer to to the city center, and then they would drive us to to water taxi pier, rather than having to take a cab. It all worked out smoothly and I was appreciative of their efforts.

Cons: Nothing. It was a totally positive experience.

Do your research!

Pros: While traveling to Placencia, I reserved a car with Budget at the airport. I paid for the extra insurance online as was advertised. Don't use Budget or the Allianz insurance while traveling to Belize, the coverage isn't accepted and they will try to charge you $50 US/day. This isn't made clear online anywhere. Long story short, we had to find another company at the airport to rent from for the week.

Cons: Don't advertise insurance if you can't use it. Wasting customer money is not good customer service.

Pros: Car itself was nice

Cons: If you pay with Visa, they charge you an extra $20 per day for insurance - that was my biggest complaint. Also, nobody looked at the car with me before I took it to see if there was any damage already.

Typical Rental

Pros: Good tires, clean, pretty much as advertised. Reliable with 107,000 km on the odometer.

Cons: Had the usual lit up warming indicators like, service ABS system and airbag that you found with rentals in countries like Belize.

Terrible car, OK drop off service.

Pros: They allowed me to drop off the car at a location closer to the water taxi, and then drove us to the water taxi, so we saved $25.

Cons: The car was not cleaned at pick-up, they required that I buy insurance when I had already purchased insurance online, and the vehicle itself did not accelerate uphill very well. There were times that I thought we would get stuck on a hill because the Suzuki just would not go, not even in first gear. They should replace that car ASAP.

Pros: Car worked.

Cons: You told me and wrote the entire car cost was $202 and it was 50% more at $304. An added $102.92. This is unacceptable. No truth in lending or advertised here by KAYAK. First time I used KAYAK and will be my last. No travel company makes this large an egregious error and deserves to be in business. This is their core business and it is flawed. I hope others see this and I will do my best to tell all about this experience; as I travel globally frequently and many ask me about best ways to travel. KAYAK is not a service anyone should use and I hope I can keep others from using this flawed company.

Pros: Diesel economy was really good i drove a lot so it was really convinient

Pros: Not much.

Cons: I felt like the rental agent was trying to scam me. Nothing was said when I made the reservation that I would have to buy the $28.00 a day insurance that Budget offered. When I got there , agent said since I was using a Visa card, I had to. No exceptions. I asked is there any way I can not pay. Agent said only if I had a Mastercard or Discover card. (She had already asked my husband if he had any other cards, and he said "no".) I did have another card so I used it. The agent was not there when we arrived, 4:35pm, she had already locked up. Some other agencies nextdoor said they could find her and did. The car was not clean, and it would not go into 4 wheel drive. She told us we woudn't need it, just stay on the main road. The car user guide was in Spanish, which we don't speak. On our return to drop off SUV, again the Budget rental was locked (2:30pm). Again a nextdoor agency recieved the returned SUV, but we weren't able to get the paperwork releasing our credit card from extra charges. It was a really pathetic experience.

Better than anticipated

Pros: The rental process was just as ez in Belize as the US. The Suzuki Jimmy performed excellent and was efficient on gas which was $5 gallon. All the rental clerks were friendly and got us on the road quickly.

Cons: This is a tiny SUV , ok for 1 or 2 people but cramped for any more if you have luggage.also the maps are not great so have an alternate.
