It's on mountain, lobby is gorgeous. If you can find anyone who works here they are super nice. Indoor pool is "a short drive away." Rooms are holiday Inn quality- nothing wrong with them but dated and very meh. Offseason I'm pretty sure only 2 people work there and can never be found.
The staff. No T.V.-Bathtub stepover too high-No walkin shower-No Bellhop Svc-No elevators and this was a 3 story building.
location An older hotel pretty much just as i expected it would be.
Common areas and lobby had nice historical details. Rooms were tiny and not well appointed. Bathtub was dirty, rugs were old and dirty. Beds were small and uncomfortable. Hostess was rude upon arrival.
Clean comfortable room. Unique historic lobby. Terrace was a fun bonus. Like stepping back in time. No TV but wireless excellent so could compensate. Clean. If you take it for what it is, it's a wonderful experience. Super management. So glad we stayed! It was fine for us. But people should know there are no elevators, hair dryers, coffee in rooms, breakfast, or tv in room. Still awesome
Beautiful old building. The staff was excellent. The location is right on main street in the middle of town. We were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to go to. The room was a bit dated however there are plans to renovate all of them in the future.
Great balcony, friendly staff
History is neat. Wanted to use the jets in the tub but the controls had been shut off.
Reception was very nice and the décor of the lobby was beautiful. Room was large and very clean, as was the bathroom! Corner room gave a lot of light and breeze. Will stay again.
The Herbert Grand Hotel has the character, the ambience, and the quirkiness missing in corporate hotel chains. Stepping back into the past, it rewards you with glimpses of a calmer, better. more enchanting world, like the grand hotel is 'Time and Again.' Bedside reading lamps (in room 208) were hooked in with the overhead light...you had to have both on--or off--but this was a minor problem.
the staff no kitchen or vending machines for ice, or water. It has high historic potential, and could be one of the best hotels in the 40 mile radius. Just needs better support.
Service is all right. Carpet dirty. Torn out. Staff discouraged us to book through online third party.
The management is wonderful, making me feel right at home. Location is across from a great restaurant and a short trip up to Sugarloaf I was looking forward to relaxing in my room in front of a T.V., but alas, there was no T.V. in the room. In keeping with an old fashioned inn. If you have kids, be prepared with your own electronics.
