Pickup truck

Super easy pickup and drop off in Punta Gorda. However, the truck we rented had the tint removed but not the adhesive. The windows were super sticky to the touch and would barely go down and getting them back up was a half hour task. ALWAYS check ALL window operations before driving away with your car!! Upon return, no one really cared but some manager gave us a discount as long as we promised to give a 5 star review when Alamo sent a survey!! Is that bribery??

Pros:

Staff tried. there were no trucks available for us. We had to wait over 30 minutes and I had a mortgage closing that I had to attend. It was very stressful.

I was recently stuck in Florida. No flights available! Other rental agencies would not under any circumstances rent my family a vehicle that could go one way to my home state!!!! AVIS was the only rental company that said We can do it! So I booked the reservation!! Avis will be my 1st call for my piece of mind!

Only 1 person working so had to wait quite a bit to be served. Not the attendant's fault, he could only handle so much at a time, was still well mannered, professional, and was trying his best to multi-task. Car was fine, drove well and was well equipped but did have a bit of a funny smell. Overall experience was OK

Dropped off vehicle at 6:05 PM at the location. No one was there, however, there was no box to leave the keys. There was a box that said, for trucks only and not to leave the car keys. I had no choice but to leave the car keys in the truck box. would I run there again? Absolutely not. Very frustrating. I was there 45 minutes trying to figure out what to do. No one would answer the phone and when I talk to someone on the phone, it took me a half hour to wait to get to someone. Too much time out of my day, and my time is valuable.

I reserved the convertible mustang one way to Miami from Port Charlotte. When I arrived, they said "we do not have that type of car." They put me in a jeep compass. I got 10 miles down the road and the tire pressure indicator light came on. I stopped - flat tire. I called the rental office and they said "call road side assistance on the key chain - they will either come out with a new tire or new vehicle" I called. They said it could be a couple hours. They also said they would not deliver a new tire and that a new vehicle would take 4-6 hours. I had an appointment. I changed the tire to the doughnut (note: the new Jeep compass does not have pedal or lever activated emergency brakes - its an obscure button and "park" is not sufficient to keep the SUV from rolling!) - I gave them the address that I would be at for my appointment, they said they could not be there in my time frame. I called the local office back and they told me to call national. I called national office and they said to call local. Local finally agreed that when I brought the vehicle back I would get a replacement. I had been on my way to Miami and had to back track 30 minutes to do so. Overall loss of time was about 2.5 hours due to poor maintenance and poor customer support. Add this to the issue of them renting a vehicle not in stock and I will never use Budget/Avis again.

There was only one person at the desk for a Saturday morning. She was efficient and good at processing people but there was quickly a line up that she had to deal with on her own. We had to wait 1/2 an hour to be processed.
