Pros: The car we received was great on gas, and had lots of "bells and whistles" like sensors and a back up camera (which is nice when you're in an unfamiliar car or in unfamiliar places)
Cons: The car wasn't fully detailed when we received it (leaves in the truck and dirt was still on the floor mats) The attendant tried to rush us along while we were inspecting scratches and gauges on the car. There wasn't much selection when we arrived and we were clearly given the lowest quality car available. The associates were also a bit rude and unfriendly and didn't try to assist us when we had questions. I felt a bit profiled. It all seemed very rushed with lots of unexpected charges even though we had prepared beforehand. I felt a little taken advantage of and was not treated with the same courtesy I gave to them. Their card reader didn't work for my credit card and I had to end up using my debit card which made my traveling a little annoying. The car was horribly cramped and uncomfortable. It was VERY compact and was not fair that Hertz classified it as "Economy". I left my road trip with severe neck pain and back cramping. Overall it was an okay experience but it could have been much nicer with better customer service and an honest car selection.

Cons: The KIA that I rented didn't have cruise control which has been standard equipment on every rental I've had since 1978. Hertz economized a bit too much on this one!
This Hertz location is quite difficult to find, especially since Google gives its location as at a car dealer 3 blocks away.

Terrible Customer Service
Cons: First off before I even ordered this car, I called to make sure I could rent it because I am under 25 years of age and there wasn't a place to check that I was underage. I called Hertz in Austin and they told me that I would just have to pay the fee for being underage when I picked up the car which is fine. I asked how much the fee would be and one of the guys told me $14 extra a day. I said great and went ahead and purchased my reservation. When I got to Hertz for my 2:00 pm reservation, o waited patiently over an hour to wait for them to get a car. They didn't even have a car when I made the reservation. I was nice and polite although I wanted to get on the road because I had more traveling to do. One guy told me it was going to be about an extra $30 a day for being underage. I told him that someone from this Hertz told me it would be $14. I would've never rented through them if I knew it would be that much because there were cheaper places. $14 extra a day isn't bad so that's why I chose them. Anyways they made me wait and wait until the assistant manager came out and asked if I've been helped. I told him what was going on and he said "well I'm the assistant manager, I can see what I can do" or something along the lines of that. He made me feel like he'd honor the $14 extra a day since it was causing so much trouble. Anyways I look at my bank account today and sure enough I'm charged $27 extra a day. I called and talked to the assistant manager and he went on about how he told me it was going to be $27 extra a day, blah blah blah. If that would've been the case I would've went to a completely different car rental place because the extra charge for being underage was way more than the car rental even was. These people who run this Hertz are not reliable or trustworthy and they are liars. I will never rent through Hertz again, especially in Austin. Oh and the seats in the car were dirty and the car smelt like mildew. Terrible place.

Cons: The idiots could not find my reservation, i could not get on line to show them the reservation, and i was forced to rent another car at 4 times the cost. I have the original reservation confirmed an din paper now. shame on hertz

Not enough cars
Pros: The manager tried his best in a bad situation
Cons: First, when I arrived at the Hertz in the Austin Airport and realized I had accidentally booked my car from the downtown location, the person at the desk refused to accommodate and switch the location pick up to the airport location without adding almost 150$ to the cost, which is absurd. When I finally made it to the downtown pick up location, there were no cars there and I was informed that they were actually waiting on cars to be driven over from the airport because somehow they had run out of cars. There were several other people waiting for cars as well, all of which had to be driven over from the airport rental location where we had come from. I had to wait over an hour for the car from the airport to arrive, which completely messed up the rest of my schedule for the day.

Pros: Car was clean.
Cons: We were told at the airport that dropping off at a different location would cost $5; however, I was charged $30 for this. No one on staff seemed to be able or willing to offer any flexibility since we were told two different prices.

Make sure you choose the right location
Pros: All the Hertz staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: I know it's my fault, but I accidentally made my reservation at the wrong location and Kayak was closed when I tried calling and changing the reservation. I'm disappointed in the level of customer service you provide and you weren't there when I really needed you. Unlikely to book on Kayak again.
