Be careful! This location takes advantage of weary travelers and upsells insurance. I stepped away to get coffee for our long drive after a red eye flight. My husband didn’t know I had already purchased ample 3rd party insurance, plus we are covered by our regular insurance. The pushy sales guy bullied him into 400euros worth of extra insurance—told him it wasn’t optional. When I returned to learn what happened and argued with the guy, he told me it was too late to refund. Terrible! Do not book here.

The car class we reserved was “unavailable” and we were forced to upgrade to a car that resulted in us paying more than double for the rental. I am very disappointed that instead of enjoying activities and meals, we had to blow our budget on a car from Budget. I don’t know how to avoid this or what we did wrong but a $900 surprise is not a nice way to start off a vacation. The car itself was great, and their service was otherwise great but this is a common occurrence which in my view can be avoided. If the company doesn’t have the class we reserved, they should give us the upgrade at no cost as it isn’t the customer’s fault the car they reserved months in advance isn’t there when they arrive.

The pick up was the worst experience in all years that I rent cars in so many different countries, including Portugal. There was another attendant that was extremely rude to me as well as to a couple that was there facing some problems. He shouted to me and after did not answer my question. Very rude person. The young guy that was attending me was very polite but he was lost in the procedures... it took him over 30min to finalize the process, he also gave me wrong information that I just found out when I returned the car. Very bad experince!

The time I took to fill out all of the registration in advance was no where to be found at the time of the pickup. This made the process slow and frustrating. The rate expected was also wrong. They just seemed to want to force a different plan than the one that had been purchased and expected.

I can't fully rate the price since I somehow managed to book the wrong date and so when I got there it was a same day rental which I would expect would not be the same price. I payed for 1 day rental with full coverage ~60€. Not a great price but again really last minute. The car was a nice Fiat, small which is nice if you are driving/parking in Lisbon and low consumption.

We had an overall great experience renting from Drive on Holidays. Our car was awesome (clean, barely used, etc.) and the nice woman who helped us was sweet. I had read reviews prior to renting from this company and was a tad concerned, but we had no issues that would keep us from renting from them again. The only downfall in our experience was that we waited at least two hours in line at pick up and that pushed our first day back a bit. It is true that they have you put down a $3,600 (maybe it was euros?) deposit, which I thought was pretty intense and had never experienced before but eh, we had no issues.

The pickup directions were terrible. Info came from car rental app, so it’s hard to tell if it was Drive on Holidays fault or the rental car app that was the issue. They sent a pickup address that was at some residential Apartment complex. Tried calling but no one picked up. After some digging on the internet I found the closest pickup center near the airport in hopes it was the correct location. I was lucky that it was, because if you’re late they typically give your reserved car to the next person. I spent a bunch of money on two xl Ubers trying to find the pickup location… very ironic Once I finally got there, the service was fine and the process was smoother.

Pick up and drop off from the airport were very simple. We were slightly under the charge threshold on our electric car on return, but the employee was gracious and did not charge us for it. A very kind gesture! The car was brand new (only had 20 km on it) and sparkling clean.

We waited in line for close to 2 hours to pick up our reserved vehicle at Lisbon Airport. That's just from when we pulled a number to when we walked out to get into the car. That's not at all what we would expect from a major rental company. The staff, once we got to the counter, was great. Polite and patient. The car was great - like new condition, clean, comfortable. The rate seemed reasonable for what we got.

The pick-up and drop-off staff in Lisbon and Porto were lovely. The car had a manual transmission, which was fine, but for some reason the cruise control was disabled or not optioned at order for this vehicle, so we had no cruise control for our 2 week road trip around Portugal. This made the drives a lot more tiring and not as fun.

We showed up at the dollar location which was run by hertz, who insisted on selling us a different more expensive package as they did not honor the one we purchased online from dollar, including the insurance. The same thing was happening at the two counters next to ours. It was a take it or leave it situation. It’s a scam, never again

Happy people did speak English at counter but at pick up place English was poor and didn’t explain very good how to charge car when I neede

They had way too many hidden charges that more than doubled the cost of rental. First, my car wasn't available, so I had to pay extra to upgrade. The gas tank was at 7/8 when I picked up the car, and when I returned at the same level, they charged 60 euro to refill 1/8 of tank. There's also a 36 euro charge on my credit card that I never got a receipt for. I will not rent from them again
