Pros: The vehicle worked perfectly for my family. We paid for a mid-size SUV and got a slight upgrade. The upgrade was comfortable and easy to use. First time using Alamo and it was a pretty seamless experience. Drop-off was fast.Cons: There was a line and a wait when we first got to the rental car counter. It seemed like all the counters were understaffed and I waited a good 30 minutes before I got the keys and left.

Cons: Nothing could have been better. They didn’t have the Jeep I reserved, so they immediately offered me an upgrade to an all wheel drive luxury car. No questions asked. I couldn’t be happier with the whole experience.
Pros: I was having a tough day and didn’t realize Hertz didn’t have a drop off at Santa Rosa airport. I had arrived just in time to drop my car off and catch my flight, when I realized I couldn’t find the Hertz drop off. John, the downtown Santa Rosa attendant, was incredibly nice and picked up my car from the airport. While I know this is a service Hertz sometimes provides, John went out of his way to help me at a stressful time. He made the whole process easier, and because of him I’ll be renting from Hertz again. Thanks, John!

Pros: The pick up and drop off was easy, didn’t take too long. The shuttle service at LAX was prompt and attentive. As were the car attendants at drop off. Gas mileage was amazing.Cons: The car itself wasn’t great. It was also the only car left in the fleet and the representative told me the person after me wouldn’t get a car. That wasn’t good news at all. Several small dents, type wasn’t that exciting. I would definitely would have paid more for a better car make and model.

Pros: Pickup in Fresno was good. Drove car to Monterey and on my way back my tire showed low and my service guy said stem was broken and not to drive and to take it to Enterprise in Monterey. I believe the ladies name was Tina. She was no help, said she had no cars and it was not her problem because I did not rent the car in Monterey. I could call the airport or take to their shop but would have to wait a day. She tried to dismiss me, but After much discussion SHE reluctantly, after making other calls, called the airport and claimed they only had a 15 passenger. After more discussion she finally called their shop and they said to come over and they would fix. They were very nice and I was out of there in 30 minutes. All of this could have been avoided if she had done that in the first place. She was matter of fact and dismissive with no customer service.I arrived in Fresno in time to return car. You can tell that they did not air out the vehicle nor try to get rid of the smell whatsoever. The second vehicle was just as bad. There were dents and scratches all over. There were soda spills on the center console, no floor mats, the side panels were sticky, and most of all the windshield fluid was low so the car would beep annoyingly every 10 mins to let us know it’s low. The car did took us where we needed to be but I felt disgusted being in the car. I even wiped and cleaned the car down but I felt like it wasn’t enough. The staff was nice and friendly but the vehicles... didn’t do it justice.

"Mika" said they had one car available, but I'd have to pay $85 dollars per day for it. He said, "That's your own fault for going through a 3rd party company" (in reference to Kayak). I left without a car. I told my husband. He went up to the counter. He talked to "Barbara." She said that she would give us the car for $28.04 per day. Take it or leave it. We needed a car, so we were forced to take it. We will never use Payless again. We will likely never use Kayak again.

Cons: 1. The employee who checked us on was rude, Curt, and had a "can't be bothered by your questions" attitude. 2. When we sat in the car, we realized someone has been smoking something very strong in there. When I went to the counter to let them know, I wasn't offered any solutions, just "Oh, I didn't smell anything in there." The smell was annotated on only my copy of the contract because the "couldn't be bothered" person hadn't put my paperwork away properly, and they couldn't locate it. I am sincerely hoping I don't get charged for that smell, especially because it gave my entire family horrible headaches after driving 45 minutes to our hotel. We had to: crack the windows on the highway, leave open chips of coffee to try to neutralize the smell, spray with air freshener, leave the windows down overnight, and leave the doors and trunk wide open for thirty minutes before our trip this morning. 3. When I picked up the car, I told the employee we'd have to extend a day. She said, "Okay" and didn't offer any kind of important warnings such as "We close at 5 p.m." and "We don't have an overnight drop-off." When we were en route to return the car and called to remind them we would be returning it this afternoon, she informed me of those crucial pieces of information and said, "Well, we always close at 5." That was it. No solutions, no pointing me in the right direction. For every question I had, she acted as though I should know the answer or find it on my own (I was *driving* and had *told* her that). It was very frustrating. I finally had to have my friend call from a different number and speak with the manager about how to find a solution. It was very, very frustrating, to stay the least. Overall, the car was in great shape, but the smell was so horrible we wrote our masks while traveling. The customer service was lacking severely - recommend the female employee receive training on how to provide complete information to customers and on how to treat customers with some sort of welcoming warmth.

Pros: The reservation process was easy. The SUV was clean, and pick up was fast and easy. The employees at the counter inside the airport were friendly and expedient. I did have to walk back inside the airport to the desk to return it, but other than that, the return process was smooth, quick, and friendly.Cons: The reservation and service was great, though the price was a bit steep. It was a last-minute reservation; however, so that is just how it is. I didn't like some of the features of the SUV. The high beams flickered on and off at will while we were navigating curvy mountain roads in the dark. I did NOT enjoy this. The suspension wasn't as smooth, nor the handling as tight as the Jeep Cherokee we rented the following weekend from a different company.

Pros: The car was washed and clean.Cons: Pick up was not good. I was told that I couldn't use my company credit card that I used to book the reservation online because my first name on the card was different than my driver's license (it is my nickname on the credit card). This was the first time in 20 years it has ever been a problem and the rep asked me if it was the first time I rented from Thrifty because this is how the system works. I didn't really appreciate that as an answer. She then says when I come back she can switch the credit cards. I asked her why she didn't lead with that at the beginning of the conversation versus quoting me company policy. Another concern was insurance coverage (company versus personal based on the credit card on file). The drop off was a little better. The line was really long and nowhere does it say you have to stay in line to drop off. Luckily I asked because I was in a hurry (and didn't have to wait in line). The issue here was switching the credit cards which would require me to wait in line. The rep said to write my email down and they would send the final receipt later in the day. I did not receive the email as promised. I called two days later and finally received the second part of the bill (first part on my company credit card, second part on my personal credit card). The experience with Thrifty was OK at best. I'll likely choose a different rental car company in the future. Thank you.
