Pros: Good, clean car for the money. The rental car place accepted the insurance to pay directly for the charges.
The different drop-off location (Houston instead of Austin) was accepted at no additional fee immediately.

Cons: Booked my reservation on Kayak for $111,00 at Austin Airport . When I got there they told me reservation was not for airport and charge would be about $350 and I would not get any credit for $ 111 . Really tried to gauge me . Rented from another company for half of what they wanted to charge me .Hertz is horrible

Pros: Staff was really great, car was in good condition and rode smoothly. Was a lifesaver in Austin, TX.
Cons: Location of pick up was way too far from the airport. I paid a $70 cab just to get there. I had a bit of a situation when they wouldn't take my debit card, but was able to override that because of the company I'm affiliated with (and I even got a discount)... not sure how that worked. If paying with debit, they will take out about double the amount of what you actually owe as collateral, but is returned at end of rental. I asked if I could return the car at the airport hertz and they allowed me to do this with a fee about the same as the cab ride.

Pros: Vehicle did very well. Staff in Austin was very thorough and courteous.
Cons: The vehicle had previous wreck damage. Also, the windshield wipers MUST be replaced. They are beyond unsafe.

Bait and switch
Cons: When I arrived at the Hertz counter at the Austin airport, I was informed that the reservation was made at an off airport location. There was no shuttle to the other location, nor were they able to transfer the reservation. Therefore, I had to make a new reservation (for double the online fee). In addition I was not able to cancel the original reservation, since it was past the scheduled time of pickup, and because it was a prepayment. The representative at Hertz told me that this happens often. Nowhere on the reservation did it say that the pickup was reserved at an off-airport location.

Pros: not much
Cons: $600 in holds on my credit card AFTER the car was turned in. Still no bill 4 days after car turned in. 20 minute wait on hold to speak to anyone and then they lied and said it would be resolved. Still not resolved. Never again with Hertz. Never.

Bad pick-up experience
Pros: The lady at the counter was helpful, though no one else was, and allowed me to return the car to the airport location.
Car was clean.
Cons: Was not informed that you had to have the credit card used to book at the time of picking the car up, caused significant confusion and no one at the rental place seemed to know how to best resolve the problem, attempted to double the price of the rental while resolving the issue.
Unresponsive in a follow-up phone call about the refund charge on the previous credit card.
Was also not informed the pick up location was very far from the airport, requiring an uber.

Cons: was not aware the pickup was not at airport, the windows were so fillthy could not see out at night, just a poor experience overall, no local number to call in case of problem. all the hertz people i talked to had very poor english hard to understand. I won't use you or hertz again. I have rented hundreds of rental cars and this was the worse experience

Cons: I picked up the car at the airport, but was instructed to drop it off somewhere else. The drop-off location didn't have a shuttle to the airport. Why would they leave customers who obviously flew into town stranded at another location? The gentlemen at the drop-off location were kind (if understandably frustrated) and ordered me a Lyft, but only reluctantly.
