Very nice upgrade
Pros: I got a Chevy Equinox for the standard rental price. It was pretty fun to drive and comfortable.
Cons: Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, but still did a good job.

Not worth the additional savings of $25 compared to competetors
Pros: Quick and easy, refunded me when I was overcharged
Cons: They did not walk me around the car when I received it from them which I notated there was dents in the car upon receiving. They also did not show me the fuel level and where it was when I received the vehicle. The car smelled terrible of cigarette smoke when it was a "non-smoking" car. The windshield wiper fluid was out which made it hard to drive and not be able to clear my windshield. All in all, it was not worth saving the additional $25 to drive 1.5 miles off the airport base to pick this vehicle up. It was unprofessionally ran and I was not impressed.

Cons: They told my wife she had to pay an upcharge to get the car we reserved. They also have yet to refund the 200 dollar deposit. This definitely is not what was advertised.

Pros: The car I eventually received was nice.
Cons: That Kayak and Payless collaborated in a "surprise car" at a lesser cost. The "randomly selected car" was a 15 person can. Not a practical car to be selected for city travel. I was able to get a more practical car for an additional daily charge. I felt humiliated and scared by both companies. I do not plan on using Kayak or Payless in any further travel purchases.

Cons: Would not let us rent without a round-trip ticket though this wasn't specified! Very rude customer service at desk. Took an Uber over to another rental company and had a great experience there. Never again will I use Payless rental car!!

Cons: Air pressure warning light was on. Apparently one of the tires wasn't properly inflated. Fortunately, it wasn't a problem overall.

Worst experience ever
Pros: Nothing. Left the rental place.
Cons: I got to the rental place. I had reserved a Nissan Juke and they wanted to give me 15 person van. It was the worst and most horrible rental car experience I have ever had. The customer service was horrible also. I had the shuttle driver take me back to the airport and I went to Enterprise and they rented me a car. Worst experience ever.

Cons: The wait to get the car was significant - approx. an hour. Low energy. There was half a tank of gas in the car when I picked it up.

Mediocre Customer Service
Pros: the price
Cons: I accidentally booked a Utility Car, and they gave me a 15 Passenger Van !!,,,,the agent could not care less that I mistakenly booked the wrong category, and asked for more money to switch to a car versus a 15 passenger VAN,,,,

Rip off alert
Pros: There is nothing to like about this company. They are scammers. Will never use again.
Cons: They sell you on the advertised lowest price so they get your reservation. When you show up your speciality vehicle which looks like a crossover or hybrid in the photo is not available. They only have 15 passenger vans. This thing is literally a bus that can't fit in a normal parking spot, not remotely practical. Then they say for a normal compact vehicle you will need to pay an upgrade fee - which is far more expensive than the competitors. They pulled this on me and I overheard other customers getting the same scam. So I'm stuck paying the fee, then they try to unload a car on me without checking damage saying she took photos. The entire passenger side was damaged as if it ran down a guard rail. Had I not insisted her to document it I'm sure they would have charged me thousands . Worst car rental experience ever. Never again.

Cons: No shuttle arrived. Phone service re lack of shuttle was unhelpful and unapologetic re shuttle. Will never use Payless again.

The best value in car rentals
Pros: The rental agreement price was 1/3 the cost of the larger rental car companies. Our car was new, clean, and comfortable.
Cons: The pick-up and drop-off was a little disorganized. The staff were friendly and helpful but these transactions took some time.

Wouldn't rent again.
Pros: The car I ended up getting was nice, but they first gave me the airport shuttle bus as my rental.
Cons: Cost WAY more than I was quoted. I was told it would be $44, ended up paying almost $300, after convincing them to take an additional $150 off for vacuuming. I will not use Payless again. You get what you think you're paying for, and then pay exorbitantly more.

Worst rental experience EVER! Stay away!
Cons: I rented an economy car and was travelling by myself with a toddler and a large car seat. When I arrived, the woman at the desk said sorry no car but I will rent you a 15 seat passenger van!!!! Only after I became irate did she finally give in and rent me a ten year old Nissan with a wobbly wheel to drive my baby on phila highways. A pure disgrace!!! When I returned there was one man on the premisis with 5 people waiting to check back cars and one man who ordered a van and was being railroaded into a car half the size and he was irate. It took me 30 minutes to drop this car off. It would have been longer but I almost had to throw the keys at the guy at that point to get it done so I would not miss my flight!! I have travelled alot and rented alot but have never had an experience like this. Poorly run franchise!!! As Seinfeld said" they know how to take the reservations, they just do not know how to keep the reservation"!!

The intentionally ripped me off!
Cons: I got a great rate online, that is why I gave them a try instead of one of the other numerous rental places near by where I've had great experiences. I booked a wild card car-economy or similar. At pick they claimed they could only offer me a 15 seater van. As I didn't want to drive an oversized gas hog 6hrs. They charged me an extra $60 on the spot to get a normal economy car. What a scam!

Cons: Hidden costs. Airport tax, out of state driving taxes, etc.. It is so annoying to be hit with more charges after the price had already been agreed upon. Don't bury these things in fine print, though it is legal. It is poor taste.

Pros: Sorry, not much to like. We rented the specialty car which had a pic of a Nissan Rogue. When we got there they told us actually the specialty car was a 15 person van and for 15.00 more we could get a smaller car. The guy who helped us was rude and should NOT be at the front desk working with people. I have my own business and would NEVER allow him to be upfront and treat customers the way we were treated. I will probably NEVER rent from Payless again. Horrible experience!!!

Dirty Bait and Switch
Cons: "Special" was a 15-passenger van that doesn't fit in a parking deck. To get something smaller, I had to upgrade at $10/day to a Toyota, that ended up having stains all over the seats. I could have rented from a more reputable company and gotten a cleaner car for less money, and I would have had it not been so late at night. I will stick to more reputable companies in the future.

Don't fall for the "specialty" car trick!
Cons: The cheapest option is a "specialty" car. When you get there they tell you it's a mystery car that you booked and it's a 15 passenger van. We were not the only ones to be surprised by this - overheard other customers being just as frustrated. Getting a regular car costs more money of course. Also it's extra for their road side assistance that they force you to get as they don't want anyone else towing or doing anything to the car. Dont waste your time.

Cons: unexpected $ 15.00 per day surcharge for out of state use. Fuel below 1/4 tank when picked up, nighttime, nor'easter raging, just what I wanted, looking for gas in Philadelphia instead of being on the road.

Pros: They were somewhat flexible as I had reservation at different branch
Cons: Understaffed, included options without asking, and charged me for gps unit only to find out radio had gps...when I ask for refund on that feature they wouldn't consider

Don't rent here
Pros: Nothing much.
Cons: I waited nearly an hour for a car on pickup. I reserved a compact but all they had was an SUV. They had no more cars to rent. The SUV tires were worn out I discovered while on my trip. they were visibly worn. My wheels slipped at times while accelerating from a stop. I'm lucky to have avoided an accident. I will not rent from these folks ever again.

Very expensive - but good service

Pros: Relatively new car, no defects.
Cons: Took 45 min to pick up car; counter was understaffed. Took 15 min to drop off car - had to go into counter and wait. Also, if you decline the insurance, they charge several hundred $$ to credit card and refund the credit balance after you return car - kind of shady, I think.

Cons: Did not get the mini van we reserved, they only had a 15 passenger van, way to big for a family of six, and the gas mileage only 13 mpg, mini van better gas mileage, Will not use Payless car rental again, also said it was in terminal , but was off site and had to call for a pickup.

Pros: The staff was friendly . My van was clean and ready at the time of pickup . Mike took extra time to make sure I was comfortable with the features of my rental. The fee was exactly what I was quoted.
Cons: The van only had a quarter tank, but then I only had to return it with a quarter tank.

Spirit Airlines of car rental
Pros: The vehicle was ok. I can understand the "close to the car you want" disclaimer. I booked a Tahoe but received a Traverse.
Cons: Where do I start? First, the security deposit on renting the vehicle. I am well over 25 and used a major credit card. $200 security deposit that was not stated at the time of booking. Secondly, there is a fee for driving the vehicle out of the tri-state area. Really!?!? The fee is $15 per day, but the young lady gave me a $5 discount. Thank you. Right there I should've just leave but I need to get to my destination. Thirdly, you have to treat the vehicles as if they were your own. The vehicle needed an oil change before I even drove off the lot. Again I should've said something, but I needed to get on the road to NC. The vehicle needs to be cleaned before I received it and the previous driver must have through a back road somewhere. The grill and side mirrors were covered in "bug juice" even after they cleaned the car. Mind you the vehicle is white. Everything is visible so I take the vehicle to the car wash to really clean the car. In summation, all total fees need to up front and the vehicle needs to be maintained.

Shuttle never showed up
Cons: Shuttle never showed up; kayak lied about the location because it was no where near the airport; when I called in desperation to find the shuttle they put me on hold for 15 minutes, then I gave up and booked an enterprise car on my cellphone and jumped in the 7th enterprise shuttle that went by. Luckily there are so many options and one is never stuck without a car.

Cons: The service is horrific. Unprofessional staff. The process of picking up a car took almost 30 minutes. The car had over 33,000 miles on it, smelled, and drove poorly. I will never use payless again.

Cons: It was not advise that I had to call for pick up at terminal and when I called they said you have to as they do not just drive around like all other rental car companies....not good
